I came here to check out their breakfast and let me tell you I was impressed. They had this toast with avocado, onions and tomatoes 10 out of 10 I even tried their breakfast udon and the broth was so delicious. I even got into their onigiri and I tried their California their crunch the tuna and the salmon, and they were all so flavorful. But their yogurt Matcha was my favorite as well as their torch spam musubi so so good definitely you're gonna wanna come check out for their breakfast. It is such a cute little mom and pop shop. It's like a hidden gem very friendly very clean. I'm definitely coming here to have breakfast and their actual lunch and dinner. Oh and if you love chicken, Katsu, you wanna get their breakfast dish one too it's so good.

Calamari Tempura was so hard and had no flavor. Edamame had no salt and was not fresh.

Our first time here. Service was good! Man was sweet but unfortunately we won't be back. The calamari was unseasoned and couldn't even bite into it. We got sushi which was just mediocre. There were 4 of us and it was $110.

Sushi heaven alert! My mother-in-law's fave spot (and now mine too!) is a hidden gem in La Mirada. Owner Jack's the king of hospitality, and his fish portions? Generous, to say the least! Pink Lady roll, Crunch, Caterpillar, and spicy tuna - I'm a fan of them all! Even my fam agrees it's one of the best. Support local, get amazing sushi. Win-win!

They are now serving breakfast! I got the torched spam musubi and the salmon plate. Everything was delicious!! Much needed for my morning. The owners are great people and provided excellent service. The shop is a cute Japanese themed shopped. Would definitely come back to try their other breakfast items!

Small little place and the old man there was so cute and ready to serve! Absolutely delicious and honestly fresh! I've gone to a lot of places like this but nothing even meets Midori 5. The tuna was sooo pink!! So good! Update: the Udon is so good too!! Also, I got the Hawaiian Roll but instead of California roll inside I did shrimp tempura and spicy tuna, calling it "The BIG K" roll.

Been here twice. The first was roughly 2 years ago, and most recently was 2 weeks ago. The good: - Service was very friendly and welcoming. - Enough parking being located in the same little plaza as Stater Bros. - Miso soup had about 5 chunks of tofu. Other places give 2 or 3 tiny bits. The meh: - Basically the food... Had the salmon bento. Way too much rice for a small piece of salmon. I was expecting grilled salmon, but it seemed like it was pan fried in a little bit of coating... The salmon also seemed like the previously frozen kind. - Kids had the chicken teriyaki. Thought the chicken was way too white in color, like it has been boiled, then pan fried afterwards. I'm fairly new to the area but this has been my new regular, super afford sushi spot for whenever I'm in the mood! I normally do takeout, but the food and quality has always remained the same whether I'm dining in or out. My usual order consists of the Vegas roll and an order or two of the tempura hand roll depending on how hungry I am. The seafood is always super fresh and I can clearly taste that my order is made with love! Much smaller inside than I anticipated. Came here for lunch during the week. they don't really have specific lunch specials they just offer at the Bento box or chicken bowl. I opted for the baked salmon roll instead. service was quick and they were very friendly. it was nearly empty at 12:30 PM during the week. Picked up an order of udon and a spider roll. East to order on line through their website. Order was ready in less than 10 minutes and reasonable in price. Good customer service too. I asked for little extra ginger and the person working the counter, I think he is the owner, gave me almost a cup full. Spider roll was filling and my daughter said the udon was really good. I think this is a fantastic "hole in a wall" kinda restaurant if there was ever was. It looks to be run by a lovely couple who greets everyone very warmly and makes you feel very welcome when you step in. It seemed like they know a lot of the customers, so I'm assuming they are regulars here. This is the kind of no frill place you encounter for a simple meal of a teriyaki bento or sushi rolls kind of place. I did take a chance on some of the simpler sushi combo they offered and came out very satisfying after the meal for me. This place was not going to win anyone over on the decor or ambiance as I can tell this was one of those fast take outs or a simple grab n grub kinda joint. Simple, fast, and friendly. Very efficient with no fuss. The fact they are getting regulars coming in tells you a lot about how they are doing. read more

Came here a few weeks ago for a quick lunch. I ordered the katsu curry plate and shared the crunch roll. Overall the katsu dish was good but wouldn't say I would go out of my way to come get it. The crunch roll was falling apart every time I would go and try and pick up a piece but overall tasted good. The main issue I didn't give this 5 stars was for a piece of nigiri that came with my friends bento box was not very good. Not sure if it was an just a bad piece or an off day either it didn't sit well with me. Overall would say I would come back if I was in the area especially cus the service was very good. read more

I love coming to Midori 5 in La Mirada. Been coming here for years. Thank goodness they survived during covid shut down. Start off with a bowl miso soup with tofu . My favorite entree is the chicken katsu curry. The crispy chicken is served with rice, cabbage salad & a bowl of the delicious curry. The portions are big enough to share. The same kind gentleman always greets my family & takes care of us. I wish I knew his name. read more

She seemed friendly at first, but unfortunately our experience quickly went downhill. My husband ordered a ramen dish that never arrived. We waited quite a while, assuming it would be brought out, but no one ever checked in on our table. This seems to match other reviews mentioning a lack of staff awareness and attention to customers. The staff appeared to only come by to take orders and drop off checks. We were even seated near the register, yet no one noticed that an entire meal was missing. When it was time to pay, another employee helped us. We had to point out that the ramen never came and ask for it to be removed from the bill. His response was simply, "Sorry about that, let me take it off. Here's your total." There was no real sense of concern, apology, or effort to make the situation right. Mistakes happen, but the lack of communication and customer service is what made this experience so disappointing. Staff could benefit from additional customer service training and more awareness of their guests' needs. Unfortunately, after this experience, we will not be returning and would not recommend this restaurant to others.

I had the pleasure of trying Midori 5's breakfast pop-up, and the food was absolutely incredible. The citrus-sweet marinade on the salmon was perfectly balanced--light, refreshing, and bursting with flavor, making each bite melt in your mouth. Easily one of the best preparations of salmon I've had in a while! The spam musubi was hands down the best I've ever had--perfectly seasoned, with a satisfying texture and just the right touch of char. The staff was exceptionally kind and hospitable, making the experience even better. As a family-owned restaurant, Midori 5 exudes a cozy, welcoming atmosphere, making you feel like you're part of the family while enjoying a home-cooked meal.
