Came back again on another trip and had to stop by Mike's Pastry once again! Before you go, make sure you have cash (it is cash only). The inside is very simple - just a large area to order your pastries and go. It gets super busy in here and it's often filled with people waiting in line. The people behind the counter are quick to pack your order and are always friendly. The pastries have never disappointed. The Neapolitan was a very good, true pastry like the ones I get in New York. The icing is sweet, the layers were crunchy, and the filling was the perfect amount.
Pastry store with lots of options and flavors! Cash only. When you walk in you can see cases of pastries and workers ready to take your order. The box it up for you and tie it up after asking if you want some powdered sugar to top on your pastries. The pistachio cannoli had great texture. First bite had all the pistachio pieces. The middle part was not too sweet with a slightly crisp crust wrapping it. The Boston cream slice was ok. Was not for me texture wise but did like the chocolate on top.
When we were at Harvard we saw Mike's Pastry and I thought about stopping in to buy cannoli but I didn't because we were planning to go to Paul Revere's house in North End and this Mike's Pastry location is a couple of blocks away. If I had gone to the Harvard location I would have been in and out in 5-10 minutes. That was not the case at the North End location but in fairness it was Friday night and around the time people want dessert. The North End location had four lines from the counter to the door with the line out the door. They take cash only but while you wait you have plenty of time to decide on what you actually want to get. They have 10+ cannoli flavors plus many other pastries. We opted for a pistachio cannoli and a amaretto cannoli. The cannoli were twice the size of what I was anticipating so we split one on Friday and split the other on Saturday. If I went back I'd get the amaretto again. The pistachio was mostly ricotta tasting. If you go, go early and bring cash!
Went to Mike's Pastry while in the North End since it's one of the most well-known spots for cannoli and desserts. The line moved decently fast and there are a lot of options to choose from. The cannoli was good--filling was creamy and fresh--but I wish they had smaller sizes available. It felt a bit heavy finishing a full-sized one. Solid experience overall, just would've preferred a mini option.
This spot is THE spot to grab a cannoli. My wife is from NY and is part Italian so she required a cannoli and after passing hundreds of people carrying Mike's Pastry boxes around the decision was easy. I've never been a fan of cannoli but I thought I might as well try just one more to see if I could be swayed. This place was packed, however they had many lines to order and pay. The staff were on their A game even though it was loud and busy. We were in and out in no time.I ordered the caramel pecan and it was delicious. The shell was nice and flaky and the filling was delicious. If I were choosing a dessert a cannoli still wouldn't be my go to m, however Mike's has definitely changed my opinion of them.
Mike's Pastry is worth trying, especially if you're visiting Boston for the first time. When we arrived, the line was out the door, but don't let that discourage you. It moved fast! One thing we didn't realize beforehand is that it's cash only, so be prepared. Thankfully, there was an ATM nearby so we were able to get cash. We tried the lobster tail, chocolate chip cannoli, Boston cream puff, and Florentine cannoli. The Florentine was my favorite!
Okay, after returning to Boston, I managed to try the actual Mike's (and its rival across the street, Modern). The huge lines seem intimidating, but they go by quite quickly, and it spreads into 3 separate lines inside. Bear in mind they are CASH ONLY. They do box your orders nicely with their iconic string. :) Although they're known for their cannoli, you can also order other pastries like eclairs, whoopie pies, brownies, cheesecakturnovers, florentines, scones, croissants, cookies, and even Dubai chocolate. Their pastry variety is endless. I ordered the Mint chip and Pistachio cannoli. Both were decadent but not too heavy or sweet. One downside is that I felt they were a bit drier than Modern, but otherwise comparable. Each was $8, although you can get "kits" for cheaper (some flavors like Dubai chocolate are more expensive). I'd love to come back and try the rest of their cannolis and pastries!
We showed up on a Wednesday around 3:30 pm there was a little line but it went fast. I already knew I wanted the pistachio. Only got one cost $8 in cash. No seating inside it's take and go. The box and string are a nice touch. Found it to be delicious and a good size . I would have given this closer to 4 stars because the $8 seems a little steep. But the packaging alone might cost $2. It is popular and famous for a reason
Mike's vs Modern is to cannoli's what Pat's and Geno's is to cheesesteaks in Philly. We got here on a Thursday around 2pm and we walked right up to the counter. The lady friend wasn't ready since she had heard there would be a long line before we arrived. The lady at the counter was operating as if they were really busy hurrying us along. We ordered a Florentine with Espresso filling and a traditional cannoli from the Soup Nazi then took them to the park to eat. I guess she would be a Cannoli Fascist in this example...anyway back on track. The Florentine is not for me. Too dense and too sweet since it's a rolled out almond cookie made into the shell. The espresso filling was good despite me not being a coffee fan. The traditional rolled in chocolate chips is where it's at! Perfect texture, not too sweet but sweet enough. Absolutely delicious. Get here early on a weekday if possible but be prepared to order or "No cannoli for you! 1 month!"
Maybe this place is just a tourist trap, but I dropped by because I heard such great things about it. I guess I lucked out because when I went (Wednesday, around 3 PM), there was virtually no line. I heard it can get super busy, so beware. This place is cash only, and the service is really straight-to-the-point. I guess they just want people in and out quickly. There's not really anywhere you can sit, so definitely just get what you want and go. The bakery itself is kept very simple and minimal. Sweets are displayed behind the glass, and there are plenty of signs along the wall that display what they have to offer. There were a lot of different goodies, but I noticed that people really only ordered the cannolis. I got a singular chocolate chip cannoli, and I think it really threw the person helping me off that I only got one to try. Pastries are packaged in a nice blue box and securely tied with a long string. The cannoli itself tasted pretty nice, but I wish there were more chocolate chips other than the ones that coated the areas of visible filling. I liked that the shell was crunchy and flaky. I can't say much because this was my first time having a cannoli, so I have no point of comparison. Not sure if I can eat a lot of it in one sitting.
My review is not on the cannolis as I don't like cannoli and didn't get any here. So maybe the cannolis are the way to go at Mike's. During my visit, there was only a short line. I perused all the offerings behind the case and couldn't find anything that called my name. Everything looked dry and unappetizing TBH. There were some interesting things that I have never seen before like an angry Easter Lamb (large for $25, small for $15). The marzipan fruit looks super cute, but not something I would want to eat. My friend purchased a lemon bar and a raspberry stick. She offered me some and I tried both. I didn't like either one. The pastry dough was dry and the filling was very artificial tasting. I don't get the hype.
After hearing amazing things about this place, we decided to try it. We didn't realize it's cash only but thankfully I had a $20 on me, so keep that in mind. It was very busy but the line moved pretty quickly. I had every intention on getting a cannoli but once I saw the display case, I knew I needed the Oreo brownie cheesecake. It was absolutely amazing! I was in heaven eating that! My boyfriend did get the chocolate mousse cannoli and enjoyed it. I tried a bite and it wasn't for me. However, I am not the biggest cannoli person. All of their desserts looked amazing so make sure to bring lots of cash!
I love cash only places because it brings back the ability to not worry about cards and payment methods; cash is king. However, it is Boston and people are rude so while you are waiting people jump in line and it does make it annoying. Numerous lines, but nobody really follows lines. However, the canolli is delicious. We only bought one because they are rather large. I don't like chocolate, so I was glad to see they had a variety of non-chocolate flavors. The pistachios were light and chewy. The canolli itself was crispy without being too soft. The filling was sweet and thick without being overly rich. I'd go back again when we go to Boston. read more

The most expensive cannoli I've ever had but also the best one I've ever had. I got the pistachio one and it was delicious. I didn't think it was too sweet, which is a plus for me. Holy cow. Everything in here looked wonderful, we didn't even know where to start. Between two of us we ended up splitting a chocolate cannoli. It was DIVINE. Even in the heat of summer I munched that cannoli down in minutes. Amazing. Not too sweet of filling which made it really enjoyable. Definitely worth the wait. read more

When I told friends and coworkers I was coming to Boston, every person told me I had to try Mike's Pastry. I now see why! We were lucky and did not have to wait in line, I heard sometimes it can get long but worth the wait. Remember it is cash only here but definitely worth checking out when in Boston ! read more
So good! As a New Yorker who grew up surrounded by amazing Italian pastries my standards are quite high. I can confidently say the Pignoli cookies and pistachio macaroons from Mikes were the best I have had outside of NYC and Italy. Each cookie was perfectly soft and the flavors were on point. I would recommend Mikes to anyone in search of a quality Italian pastry in Boston. read more

3.5 CASH ONLY We visited Boston the past weekend. Post dinner we decided to get cannoli. you have 3 options, This place, Modern or Bova's. We decided this place through video recommendations and yelp. The line was long, as expected due to the popularity. It took roughly 15-25 min. We got the amaretto and the chocolate chip cannoli. Waited until we got back to our hotel to try it. Between the two, I did prefer the amaretto only because I love toast almonds and the filling had amaretto flavored filling. The filling was good, but it was too sweet for our liking. The cannoli shell was crisped and had a satisfying crunch to it. No dining / seating area. just grab and go. No bathroom. As tourists, we were glad to have tried it since it's a staple but honestly, I thought they were average cannoli. I thought they were alright. Maybe I'm just not into cannoli? They were too sweet to finish in one sitting, so we did have a fridge to store it overnight. That helped with the initiate sweetness level which was tolerable. There are many flavors to choose from so I know I can't base my review on one visit & only trying 2 out of how many Cannoli's they offer, but as a visitor, this was my first impression. read more
You can't go wrong with a cannoli, usually. We had the chocolate ricotta and the traditional. The line was long, but moved fairly quickly. Shells were filled fresh. Staff were less than cheerful, but got the job done. Cash only. The verdict: chocolate ricotta was too sweet, but tasted like cold hot chocolate, so that was fun! UNREAL cannolis. I'll never enjoy another one. It was so big, price was reasonable, perfectly sweet, creamy, and packed full of flavor. Service was quick, staff was friendly, it is cash only though! This place came highly recommended so we had to go! Gargantuan sfogliatelle and croissants. Monster size cannolis and cream puffs. Large cookies and donuts. A virtual dessert heaven! No tables, chairs, or counters so be prepared to walk and eat or take them home. We got the Boston Cream Puff, a stuffed Pistachio Croissant (that was my favorite!!!), and 4 different kind of cannoli. Oreo, Chocolate Chip, Chocolate Ricotta, and Espresso. All delicious and decadent. AND at decent prices! Customer service was meh...they seemed tired and like they were just sick of dealing with people. No smiles or greetings. But I guess it doesn't matter since they have customers regardless. read more

They live up to their motto as the king of cannolis! Large and fully stuffed with multiple flavors. Tried the amaretto, chocolate chip, and Oreo. Also tried the Boston cream pie and strawberry cheesecake. Note for future: stick to cannolis. Their cakes weren't bad... but definitely not near the standard of their cannolis. It's always packed and an insanely unruly queue (does a queue even exist?) but that's part of the fun! Make sure you have cash as they don't take cards. read more
What phenomenal cannolis! My family had never tried them before so we definitely started out strong by trying the best ones ever. We tried the mousse and chocolate chip, both were good and I honestly couldn't pick a favorite. We also tried their boston cream pie donut and it was great, the chocolate was perfect and the cream was decadent. They are cash only which is fine but we didn't know until we got to the front of the line, and it was quite a long line. But the worker was very kind and held our order while we ran to get cash, then we just paid, grabbed our stuff, and left. I'd say it is worth the wait and definitely worthy of the hype it gets! read more

Be ready to wait. The line outside turns into multiple lines inside, it's hectic inside but the cashiers move fast. Boston cream pie donut was $5, pistachio cannoli was $8 it's expensive for what it is imo. Both are solid but a tad overly sweet. Cash only. read more

After hearing so many great things about Mike's Pastry, I had to come see what the hype was all about. I walked in on a Wednesday night and there were a total of 3 customers. At first, I was wary because it was empty and there were also flies landing on the pastries outside. After looking at all of the flavors, I decided to get the pistachio cannoli. It is a little pricey at $7 for one, but the size makes up for it. With the first bite, I was hit with so much sweetness and creaminess, it was overwhelming. The shell of the cannoli felt like a shell of a taquito from Costco. Not sure if I'd come back for the cannolis, but I'm willing to try their other pastries and cakes. read more

Located on the Freedom Trail in the North End we stopped here. Known for their cannolis but we weren't in the mood for cannolis. The Boston crème pie caught my eye. I bought one. We carried it around Boston for hours on the hottest day in Boston in over 100 years. We didn't eat it until the next day. It was good but I bet it would have been better same day. read more

We debated going to Mike's Pastry because the line was insanely long -- it wrapped around the building and down the corner, and it just kept growing. It's clearly a Boston staple, but I wasn't about to wait that long... so I got creative and ordered on Uber Eats for pickup. Skipped the line entirely and still got to try it -- best of both worlds! We ordered the 6 mini cannolis, which are generously sized and packed with flavor. Each one had a crisp, flaky shell and a rich, creamy filling that wasn't overly sweet -- just the perfect balance. The filling was silky and smooth, and you can taste the freshness in every bite. We also tried one of the regular-sized ones, and it was just as amazing. Locals later told me you can actually walk in and skip the line if you know what you want and aren't waiting to look in the cases -- but since I'm not a local, Uber Eats was a clutch move! Whether you're visiting or live nearby, I definitely recommend Mike's. The cannolis absolutely live up to the hype -- crispy, creamy, and unforgettable. read more

There's a reason Mike's Pastry is world famous! The cream is fresh and delicious with a crunchy shell. I tried a variety of flavors, with pistachio being my favorite. The filling is the original cream with pistachios on the outside. I think a pistachio flavored cream would elevate this treat. The Nutella is yummy too. The original cream was a favorite though! It's not a tourist trap. It's actually a really great bakery. All of our items were fresh and delicious and the cannoli was definitely a standout. The staff were mostly friendly and the shop was tidy and clean. If you're in the area I definitely recommend stopping in. The blueberry muffin was my least favorite item, as it was a little dry, but the donut was one of the better ones I've had! read more

I'm in town for business and one of my colleagues was raving about the cannolis here. I tried the Dubai chocolate cannoli and the tiramisu. The cannoli was devine! So flaky and flavorful. I didn't enjoy the tiramisu as much. I really like a "wet" tiramisu and this one was on the dry side (not dry, just not soaked in espresso). I can't speak on the service or ambiance as I had this order sent to my hotel, but I will say it was packaged very nicely! read more

I came at night so thankfully there was no line. It was also after tourist season it was in September so thankfully not too many crowds very friendly service. They move fast so make sure while you're standing in line even if it's a short line you figure out what you want to get the lines moving and get everybody in. Very delicious cannolis I lived in Sicily for four years and had amazing cannolis out there and knew where to buy them or not to buy them and these are definitely worth the drive from Rhode Island that kind of a New York vibe with getting you in and out as fast as possibleor like any busy popular place nowadays make sure that when you come, you have room to eat because these desserts are larger than normal sizes my kids and I was absolutely delicious read more

I remember coming here as a kid some 20ish years ago and thinking wow this place is great. In fact at the time I definitely thought it was in my top five in the us. I would tell all my friends and classmates oh you're going to Boston you have to try Mike's it's iconic. While it may be wedded in history and folklore the cannoli with pistachio was good, creamy and nutty but nothing to pay $7 for. The Dubai chocolate donut was pretty average and really didn't have much of a nutty undertone. This place no longer lives up to my childhood fantasy. The location is cool, but I wouldn't say you're getting an amazing dessert for the price. read more
Wow!! The cannoli here is so good and twice the size I would get in Chicago. There was a line and it was quick service. There were so many desserts to choose from and we got the Dubai and pistachios cannoli and it was amazing!! Definitely will be coming back when I am in Boston again. read more

While Mike's Pastry does have a few different offerings but there really is only one reason anyone goes to Mike's, and that for the cannolis. Truly, world renowned cannolis. They are to die for. This is what they do, this is what they do best, and no one in Boston has them beat. They are so well known in town for their cannolis that all you have to say to any local is "We're going to Mike's for a cannolis" and they know where you are going and will be more than happy to give you directions if you need help. Every time my wife and I go to Beantown we always make a hard effort to get to Mike's. This is a MUST stop for anyone visiting Boston. read more

A must try in North End! There is so much to choose from but they are best known for their cannolis. There are a lot of different flavors you can choose. The chocolate ricotta cannoli was very yummy- the filling is creamy and the outside has a nice crunch. Will be back to try their other desserts! read more

The last time I was here was over a decade ago. People were packed into the store like sardines and when I got to the front of the line, I was met by a cranky lady that asked me what I wanted. I asked if she had any recommendations and she gave me a displeased look and said "everything is good." Wow have things changed. There are still quite a few people jammed into the store, but it does seem a bit more organized. The cranky ladies have been replaced with pleasant and friendly staff. We got a pistachio cannoli and a peanut butter cannoli. Both were great, but I have to give it up to the peanut butter one. The bottom was coated in chocolate, so it tasted like a ricotta relative to a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup. Bring your cash as they're cash only. Cannolis are $7 a piece. I think they are totally worth it! read more
