One of favorite breakfast spots in Pasadena for sure! A lot of people feel the same way, it's always a packed house and the line is long. Highly suggest joining their waitlist. The staff are accommodating and nice. You can see how the place operates so smoothly. They all work really well together and are friendly people. The food is tasty and comforting. Coffee drinks are great as well! They have seating inside and outside along the perimeter of the building. It's got a nice old diner feel to it. Come try em out for yourself! Your belly will thank you!
I've always heard Millie's was the place for brunch. Our son had a long weekend off school, so we went out on a Friday to spend some time with him and decided to come here for brunch. I read online that their Silverlake location is smaller with first-come, first-served seating, while the Pasadena location has both indoor and outdoor seating. It's highly recommended to use the Yelp waitlist, as the lines can get long. We joined the waitlist before we arrived and it said we were fourth in line, but we were quickly seated at a table of our choice without waiting, which was nice. They provide water and glasses at the table, along with standard diner condiments. I started with a coffee ($5.00), which was refillable, so you definitely get your money's worth. They refilled it twice for us. I had a lot of energy when we left! Our son wanted pancakes but couldn't decide. We ordered two single pancakes: an original ($6) and a blueberry pancake ($8.00). I tried a bite of the blueberry pancake, and it was a solid, fluffy pancake. My wife ordered two eggs, hash browns with her choice of meat and toast. She chose sausage and sourdough toast. The sausages were large and had a maple flavor, which we both liked and would order again. The hash browns were excellent, and our son ended up eating my wife's, and she ended up with his pancakes, much to her chagrin. Being the nice mother she is, she was happy to let our son eat her food. I ordered one of their specialties, the Devil's Mess, and it was a bit underwhelming, to be honest. I liked the sour cream and guacamole on top, but it didn't have enough spice for me. I asked for some hot sauce and salsa. There's a $1 up-charge for a small container of salsa, which was pretty good and exactly what I needed for my Devil's Mess. You can choose between home fries or hash browns, and I went with the home fries, which were great. I wouldn't order the Devil's Mess again, but I'm glad I tried it. We will definitely be back and order two plates of what my wife gets so our son and she can both have the food they want. I'll probably try the Chicken Fried Steak next time. It's one of my all-time favorite dishes, and I'm kicking myself for not ordering it!
Finally had an opportunity to try this place. It was a nice day out in Pasadena for some breakfast, so we took advantage of it. We added our names to the waitlist which helped us. I ordered the banana walnut pancake and an omelette to share with my friend. I also got a latte which was great to drink with the breakfast options I had. Knocking down a star cause it was pretty tight in there, which made it hard for me to maneuver my stroller (I will say, my stroller is a bit bulky, but that's a me problem I guess). Overall, a pretty great spot for brekky.
If you are looking for nice breakfast spot in Pasadena, you need to check out Millie's Cafe! Loved the outdoor street seating and variety of menu options. If you are Vegan, they have a whole menu just for you. I got the Monkey Pancakes and Pistacho latte. The pancakes were a big and loaded with bananas, walnuts, and chocolate chips. It paired perfect with the semi sweet pistachio latte. Sorry forgot to take pictures of the pancakes. They were that good!
I ordered the blueberry waffle combo with eggs, bacon, and potatoes. The waffle was just okay, was kind of bland, nothing special about it. The eggs and bacon were good, the bacon was crispy which is how I like it. I was also not a huge fan the potatoes, they weren't very flavorful and lacked crispiness. The service was good and the waiters were very attentive.
I fell in love with the location in Silver Lake and I was shocked to find out there's a location in Pasadena and booked it and omg it's so good!! I love the lemoncotta pancake. The service was smooth as soon I got there I thought I needed to sit somewhere else other than at my own party table the next table over turned over just in time and they cleaned it so fast. The beautiful lady I believe she is the host sat us down and the whole experience is so family oriented. Thanks Julian and the family for helping out!
Busy busy busy. Went for a Saturday brunch. Didn't wait long for a table for 4 but food took a while. The potatoes are definitely a hit. Heads up, they don't do hash browns on the weekends and only certain items come with potatoes. Expect a loud environment if you're eating inside since all the bigger parties are seated indoors. There's only 2 bathrooms in the back and parking is rough with the other coffee shop on the corner.
Came here for a birthday brunch and it just wasn't it. The hostess was a bit dismissive, the outside seating was super tight with tables right on top of each other, and everything took a long time once we ordered. What was frustrating was seeing tables around us get seated after we did and receive their food almost immediately while we were still waiting. It seemed like they were regulars based on their conversation. The food itself was fine, but nothing memorable. Overall, the vibes were off that day.
Overall nice local spot. It gets super busy but the tables flip quickly, and if you're not picky about seating, plenty of outdoor options usually available. They allowed us to seat early in line since we were ok with outside seating. The service was quick too. The parking situation is tough in the lot but you should be able to get some spots in the nearby streets. The coffee is solid here. I ordered a Blue Magik, which is blue spirulina with a nice hint of cinnamon. I was able to get it with oat milk. I was less of a fan of the avocado toast. The avocado was good but I prefer mine mashed. I did take a star off due to it lacking in seasoning. My fiance felt the same and added salsa to the toast I shared with him because it didn't have too much flavoring.
Had brunch at this place that's been in my booklists. The wait seemed pretty long but we only waited around ~30 minutes on a weekend for 2 people. We ordered the pancakes combo plate and fried chicken with waffles. I was really craving some chocolate chip pancakes that day, so it hit the spot! The side dishes were just okay, nothing that blew my mind. The chicken and waffles were also just okay, just a little dry. Service was decent but nothing memorable. It was very busy and popping inside though. I wouldn't really say I'd be dying to come back, but it was a nice classic American brunch spot.
The food here is really good, I come because they have a really good vegan menu as well as non vegan food. Their vegan breakfast is soo good! This past time I got the vegan "Elanor", I think it was called. It had vegan egg over potatoes with vegan cheese. It was delicious! The cheese melted, it was so gooey. I have had their vegan Chiliquiles as well and they are good. I also appreciate that they offer vegan lattes with soy milk. My friends got non vegan food and loved their dishes. I would give 5 stars, but the seating is not always the best and the service is rushed because they're always on a wait. Sometimes you get sat outside and their umbrellas don't always save you from the sun. But they are super popular so it comes with the territory. I have been coming for years and will continue to go. I appreciate the vegan menu! Small parking lot, so come early to find parking.
Whenever I am craving pancakes Millie's is my go to! Being dairy free, but not vegan is made simple at Millie's because they allow me to mix and match vegan pancakes with the eggs and meat breakfast combos if I wish. Same thing with the chilaquiles, I can swap the dairy for vegan cheese and vegan sour cream but still have real eggs on them. It's the best of both worlds. Millie's does get very busy so I recommend getting there early. They have outdoor seating, but it's on the sidewalk. We had direct sunlight on us part of the time and the service was spotty. We asked for hot sauce that we never received.
We've come here at least a couple of times now. I love how they have many vegan items (a separate vegan menu, actually). The most recent time I've gone, we ordered the V-Famous Breakfast Burrito (with the tater tots on the side instead of in the burrito, per my request) and V-Huevos a la Mexicana. I also got a fresh coconut water and I was able to scoop out the coconut meat afterwards too. Everything tasted great and even though the place was busy, like they usually are, the food came out at a good time. The service in general was great-very attentive, friendly, and efficient. We sat outside, which was nice, but another time we've gone, we sat inside. This place isn't the cheapest, but the prices aren't anything outrageous, especially considering how expensive everything is in general. Overall, this is a great brunch spot for vegan (and non-vegans) and I will definitely be returning. read more
This small spot looks unassuming, but it is a gem! Despite them being busy, my husband and I were able to get a seat right away. They have indoor and outdoor dining. We went for brunch Saturday and it was hopping. The menu is truly large with something for everyone including a great selection of vegan and non vegan options. Multiple non dairy and dairy milk was available as well as veggie patty "sausage" and sourdough. I had a pistachio iced latte with oat milk and half order of Nutella strawberry and banana French toast. My husband got California eggs Benedict. Millie's Café was AMAZING. The lemon ricotta pancakes and banana walnut pancakes were next level -- every bite was bursting with flavor. The Meat Lovers omelette was huge and seriously loaded. Sweet potato fries were perfectly cooked and honestly some of the best I've had. Coffee was great too. New favorite brunch spot!! We came in on a Tuesday morning and got seated right away. We ordered the Famous Breakfast Burrito, Chicken & Waffles Egg Benedict, Lemon Ricotta Pancake, and Strawberry Banana Nutella French Toast. The star of the show was the Chicken & Waffles Egg Benedict, which we give a 5/5. The eggs were cooked perfectly, the chicken was crispy and not too dry, and the waffle was soft and fluffy. The side of rosemary potatoes paired perfectly with the egg benedict. I added a drizzle of maple syrup on top of the chicken and waffles and that was the cherry on top. My second favorite item was the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes. They were light, fluffy, and moist, with just the perfect amount of lemon flavor. I didn't feel it needed any additional glaze as the maple syrup was just enough. I loved how unique the flavor of these pancakes were and would definitely order again. The breakfast burrito was really satisfying. I felt it tasted a little plain, so I wish they had more sauce choices. I was least impressed with the French Toast -- the bread was kind of doughy and it lacked the vanilla and cinnamon flavors of a French toast that I like. Not the worst French toast, I just wouldn't order it again. Overall, I enjoyed my experience and would recommend this spot to others. I'm usually picky with brunch spots as I feel a lot of brunch foods can taste the same, but Millie's was very memorable! The service was great, friendly, and very attentive. Went to Millie's on Saturday and felt really rushed out of the restaurant. We had finished paying and were packing up our leftovers. Someone came over to start clearing the table. I was still drinking my water and as soon as I put my cup down, they took my cup. My friend wanted to drink some of her water before leaving but the guy had already taken away her cup. There was no "are you guys done? May I clear your table?" While we understand it's cups of water, it's the concept of customer service. We felt rushed out unnecessarily. Everyone knows Millie's is busy, but we were in and out of there in under 40 minutes (no where near the time limit of 1 hr AFTER ordering). I wanted to share the experience privately so I went to their website to find an email, but they only listed a phone number so I sent them a private message on Instagram. I started my message saying that I just wanted to share feedback, but I was met with unprofessionalism and hostility. Whoever is running their social media is a poor example of customer service. I will not be going back to Millie's. read more
I stopped by Millie's Cafe in Pasadena just an hour before closing and was surprised that I was seated right away. Usually there would be a long wait on Saturday but I got lucky that day. I tried the California Eggs Benedict and the Chicken Chimichurri sandwich. Both were really good! The eggs benedict had perfectly cooked eggs with a tasty hollandaise sauce and a nice avocado touch. The Chicken Chimichurri sandwich was juicy with a flavorful, a little bit of spicy sauce that made it stand out. The service was great too -- the staff was friendly and quick without being pushy. Millie's cafe is a great spot for a hearty breakfast/brunch with lots of options! the menu is jam-packed with your classic brunch choices like omelette, burritos, and benedicts, but there's also a separate menu for vegan/vegetarian options so there's options for everyone! the staff are all extremely friendly and helpful and it feels super welcoming and homey as soon as you walk in. the food itself is great! both the slutty sandwich and the breakfast burrito we got were packed with ingredients and left us feeling full and satisfied. I will definitely be returning for another great brunch and I recommend to anyone in the area! read more

It is extremely busy. Even with checking in with Yelp you'll probably still have to wait. Our estimated wait time was 10 minutes but was easily 25 minutes. Everyone working was very friendly and helpful. They are quick to bring your orders as well as pick up any dirty or finished plates. The food was tasty. My party tried breakfast from the regular menu and the vegan menu (per their lifestyle). Everyone loved it. There is no kids menu so if you're taking children I recommend having them share. They were accommodating into splitting a milk shake into two separate cups. As for the food, they just brought an extra plate, serving and sauces. read more
I can't believe I didn't hear of Millie's sooner. I grabbed brunch with my friends here and the entire experience couldn't have been better. It was packed with a 20 minute queue to be seated but once seated service was incredibly fast, starting from order through bill. I tried a buckwheat pancake and got the vegan BLT with sweet potato fries. The buckwheat pancake was amazing: light and not sweet at all. I'd never tried bacon tempeh but I'm a fan now. The sandwich spread was the perfect flavor combo to the tempeh/lettuce/tomato. With the fries as the perfect complement, the meal totally hit the spot. Staff were friendly and helpful. I really liked the cafe location and vibe as well. Prices were very fair for the portions served. And, it was amazing to have a separate vegan menu with enough options that it made choosing hard. I was visiting from out of town and Millie's was within walking distance from where I was staying. I looked up the menu before I went, which I highly recommend because their menu is extensive! The lemon ricotta pancakes caught my eye, and they were the star of my breakfast plate. I ordered the Usual Breakfast, which in itself was good meal, with the chicken apple sausage, scrambled eggs, and hash browns. Very large meal for me, but I ate most of it. The food was good enough that I'd go back... maybe even get those pancakes again! Even midweek, they were busy. Service was nothing spectacular, but it was efficient. It was very noisy indoors, so the outdoor seating on the street was good enough for me. It felt a little like being in a Parisian street café. If you're not big on close company with your neighbors though, I'd sit indoors. In all, not a bad experience from an out-of-towner. read more

Had a great midweek brunch here. The service was super quick and on point. We even loved their shirts haha! Go there to check them out. We ordered the Blue Majik Lattes which were picture perfect AND tasty! Then we ordered an egg dish and the bagel and lox dish. We ate everything: it was fresh filling. My only comment is that I would have liked the cream cheese to be on the side fresh, instead of from a packet. The seating was plain and clean. We were seated outside due to the inside being full, but luckily it was shady. And the restrooms were clean as well. Great little brunch overall. read more

As far breakfast burritos go...Millies wins the prize, they have the Heavyweight championship belt, the big 1st place trophy (not the participation trophy) , the gold medal. DELICIOUS!! What your seeing is a cross-section of Millie's "Famous Breakfast Burrito" eggs, turkey sausage, (crispy) hashbrown tots, scrambled eggs and (real) cheddar cheese. *Request extra verde salsa....its fresh, its Incredible. Why is it that I have this feeling that Im the late guy finding out about Pasadena's "secret spot" (established in 1926) Excellent FAST service, clean restrooms and decent parking. Love love the location. They have indoor and outdoor seating. They have many options on their menu include a vegan friendly selection. I got their breakfast burrito and it was a decent size with good ingredients! It was quite pricey but I enjoyed my meal. Sad they did not have strawberry lemonade but I did hear their orange juice was a great option! They are quite busy serving two areas so we had limited contact with the staff (only when our order was taken and when we paid). Aside from that, a cute place to try out :) read more

Delicious food, try their lavender lemonade - it's not too sweet nor sour, it has a great balance. Their potatoes are well seasoned and portions are a great value. I have to rave about their waiters, they are all super friendly. I truly couldn't say who our actual waiter was because all service staff ensured we were well taken care of. The only reason I can't give the fifth star is due to parking. The server said we can park across the street by the pharmacy but since we're not locals we just parked up the hill in a residential area to be safe. Other than that, this is a must visit and we will be back! read more

This cafe is usually pretty busy so take that into account. There's options for indoor and outdoor seating. The service has always been great and fast. The atmosphere is quite energetic but you can still have conversations with others. I got the blueberry French toast combo this time. Overall no complaints. The breakfast potatoes are always a delight. The beacon has the right amount of chrispiness and saltiness. The portions are enough to get full or take home leftovers. The only downside is probably the parking being limited. But there's other locations you can still go if the lot is full. read more

I had to write a review so that I would remember exactly what I ordered since it was the perfect combo. We came on a Monday and there was no wait... win! My perfect breakfast here: - date and cardamom latte - Maynard's special with the house potato's and a substitute of the ricotta pancake instead of biscuit/ toast (add $2.50) It was perfect... little bit of healthy and a little bit of sweet. The lemon ricotta pancake was soft and fluffy and you could see the lemon zest in the batter. Delicious! Ambience is casual and friendly. We usually find street parking pretty easily. The hubby likes their breakfast burritos. Love it! read more

The staff moved quickly and handled everything smoothly, so there were no delays. I really appreciated that the check came at just the right time, exactly when I was about to ask for it. Driving back from Palm Springs and was looking for a solid breakfast spot, stumbled upon Millie's and it did not disappoint! Joined the wait list while driving there and waited no more than 5 minutes before sitting down. Ordered a three stack of pancakes, the plate of chilaquiles, and the croissant sandwich! Everything was phenomenal but the best plate was the chilaquiles! They have a great system and make sure everything is clean quickly and thoroughly, we didn't wait long for our food. Our party of 4 came in on a busy Saturday afternoon (11pm - 11:30pm). We took advantage of Yelp's waitlist check-in that allows you to add yourself on the waitlist if you're in a 5 mile radius from the restaurant, which saved us a lot of time. There was a small parking lot down the block but expect to be parking on the streets around. Ambiance/Setting: * Outdoor + Indoor seating available. We were sat outdoors and I was shocked to see how many tables they were able to fit on the small sidewalk. It was especially close to the road and it was noisy outside, we didn't mind. * Indoor options proved to be the same setting, close tables that would accommodate parties of 2-6 people. They do accommodate for bigger parties + families, be prepared to take any seat setting available. Service * Service was quick and friendly! For the amount of people they have to attend to, it did not affect the quality we received for our time here. They were still able to refill our waters despite how busy it was. Food * Our party ordered multiple dishes all with their own pros and cons, the general idea here is that it the CLASSIC brunch place with decent quality foods. We believe this place is well known for their pancakes, french toast, and waffles and less on their meat options. * Chicken + Waffles: The chicken was especially dry and had a light soft breading. This was different from my usual experience w/ chicken + waffles, where the chicken had a crunchy outside. Waffles proved to be really tasty though! * Lox Benedict: The salmon was nice and thin and didn't take away from the focus of the well made egg Benedict that was served with it. It had a nice light texture and was not too strong to taste. Would recommend again! * Usual Combo w/ Chocolate Chip Waffles: Small serving of the potatoes, eggs, and sausage (which is my favorite part of the meal). The presentation of the waffles were amazing topped with powdered sugar. The waffles were firm and had a subtle sweet taste combined with the chocolate chip. We added the "real" maple syrup which also elevated the waffles more! *Drinks: The speciality lattes were not as ideal in quality, and ended up tasting like a normal latte. The lemonades + juices were a safe bet and we were not disappointed there. In all, this place is VERY busy because of how popular the food is, so PLEASE take advantage of joining the waitlist on your way to this place! I would be wary of the meals with any type of meat but I would give the Pork Belly Benedict a chance since it was sold out before we were even there! Definitely take advantage of their classic pancake, French toast, and waffle selections as well! read more

My friends and I were seated by the kind hostess after waiting for a couple minutes. We sat outside and immediately had our waiter introduce themselves. I love a good breakfast burrito and had to try the supreme breakfast burrito with bacon. This burrito is a solid 3/5 stars. It's a bit greasy for my taste and wish there was more of a cheese pull. There is a good balance of each ingredient but there was something missing to make it the perfect breakfast burrito--I just can't figure out what it is. The lemon ricotta pancakes however were the winner of this breakfast! Perfect balance of lemony goodness. Yes, you can order take out, but sometimes they get so busy on the weekends they might not accept take out orders for a bit. It slows the kitchen down & they usually have a long waitlist to get seated.
