it was fully packed nearing midnight when i came in. the lemon cheesecake was good. it wasn't too sweet. the hot cappuccino was slightly bland, but it was good enough to keep me awake in the late hours. the interior is mostly clean. there were more crumbs than usual, but it's likely due to the high foot traffic. their tables make it a great gathering place or perfect for long cafe study sessions. the drinks are mediocre, but it's a gem to hang out in. i usually get street parking. i love their hours. read more

We walked over from work to get a nice break from the office and we got it!! I had no idea what most of the items were on the menu but the staff was great at explaining everything I asked about - I settled on a Yemenade - had a star (featured drinks) and no caffeine! It took a while to make but once I saw what they were doing to make it I understood... I believe they blended the whole lime with the milk and then had to hand strain it into my cup - they were amazing to watch and then answered all of my questions about what they were doing (I was fascinated!) Once I got my labor intensive drink I took a sip and OMG.. it was so good! I had expected like a lemonade with lime in it, not even close!! Milk based drink with ice and the essence of lime - it was lighter than I could have imagined and so refreshing, I savored every sip all the way back to work and can not wait to go back again! The inside was spacious and peaceful and I wanted to just hang out for an hour or two with a pot of chai. Games and books in the corner, pretty seats and tables and the crystal lights were a beautiful touch. It's a rare day I feel the need for a one-star review--so happy Saturday. We work hard for our dollars and take the time to support a spot, sometimes guided by what seem like solid reviews. Yelper Elites are flocking to praise this place with 4 and 5 stars, raving about opulence, ambience, and tastebud nirvana. Fools. This place sucks from the top down. The so-called "opulence" is garbage--laminate tape slapped on the walls to give the illusion of a marble-and-gold palace. The servers take your order without even knowing that a café latte is just... a latte. The espresso? Burnt manure. And that's not even scratching the surface of this vast corridor of café hell. You step into a black void of space--no music, no flavor, just emptiness and a total lack of cell signal. There was a wait for drinks, yet on a Saturday morning only three of the twenty-something seats were taken. And still... a line for the restroom. Waiting in that line, while boring, gives your eyes a break from the gaudy drink menu and the flat screens showing stock photos of beverages, Dubai chocolate, or whatever's trending on Insta or TikTok today. You stand in front of the food case--which seems to lack refrigeration--and peer at biscoff cheesecake, fake shawarma, quiche-ish filled things, and whatnot. All the buzzwords. But everything is sitting in a puddle of its own ingredients: leaking, melting, molting, molding, sliding around in a pan of gross, with dates advertising goods over a week old. Opulent Yemeni café? Delicious Yemeni coffee spot!! I would highly highly recommend the pistachio latte, it was lightly sweet and the coffee was smooth and not bitter at all. We also got the kanafe dessert, a pastry with zaatar and cheese, and a chicken roll. All of the food was great, the cheese they used in the kanafe and zaatar pastry was amazing. I will say the kanafe was not quite what I was expecting, the topping wasn't the crunchy kataifi pastry but honestly we enjoyed it thoroughly still, that cheese was just so tasty. ive been here three times and I thought it's finally time to give a review :-) first visit was okay; i got a banana cream matcha and it was pretty tasty, But there was a piece of glass in it. i think probably from a pitcher or smth. the barista replaced the drink with a Spanish latte which was pretty good! it wasn't super sweet which I enjoyed. my beau got the adeni chai and liked it despite it being weaker flavor than his usual taste. the saving grace of that night was the pistachio baklava. second time: better! i got the biscoff latte, which was good but i wish they had added more biscoff because it only really came through when it was cold. if they had the option to add more cookies it would rule. beau got the milyar chai and it wasn't as good as adeni due to it tasting kinda plasticky. today: so far their banana mocha latte is the best, and their strawberry croissant is absolutely lovely. super flaky and delicate strawberry flavor, and it looks pretty. my beau got a saffron chai and loved it as well. 5/5 for this visit. overall this place eats down, you should go. i wouldn't study here because it does get loud sometimes, but the staff is always really nice and gets our orders out pretty fast. read more

Love the dessert, but it was really overpriced. The service wasn't all that great. I felt like they were not in a good mood and it was low-key rubbing off of me. I sat down to enjoy my dessert and my coffee and they kept staring at me. I'm not sure if I am misunderstanding it, but I just felt a bit awkward. The coffee was decent, but for the price I paid, I didn't get a latte art for a basic hot of vanilla latte. Even Starbucks does that which makes a big difference because it shows that they put in the extra time to make the coffee look pretty. I would only be coming back for the dessert. Really wanted to like this place. It has an amazing interior and is very clean with great seating arrangements. The problem is the wait was 30 minutes for a single drink and a single reheated flatbread. Usually I wouldn't gripe about it, but there was also no wifi (no guest wifi at least) and possibly because the building is newer it acted like a faraday cage, so my cellular reception was poor until I walked outside. The wait wouldn't have been so bad if there was working Internet to entertain myself. The staff was pretty nice but you could tell they needed more help. It just seemed chaotic because nothing seemed to have any sort of streamlining. The entire process just did not seem like a well oiled machine. Maybe some day I'll go back but not any time soon. read more

The ambiance is nice, but they do not have any decaffeinated options. They said their machine broke, yet it has been months and there is still no decaf. I went the other day with my kids, and while we were waiting in line, the two people ahead of us placed an order. The girl at the register wrote on their cups like normal, but then she held both cups together with one hand. To do that, she had to put her fingers inside each cup. No gloves. No awareness that this is completely unsanitary. Her fingers were inside the cups. That made me turn around and leave. Normalize wearing gloves in cafes. Normalize sanitary practices. read more

Love this place. Matcha drinks here are super good. The place is opulent and immaculate, perfect for anyone who likes an upscale ambiance. They also have some text on the walls in a more casual yet stylized typeface to ease the vibe a little bit and it strikes a nice casual balance. The staff seem content and greet on arrival and give salutations upon leaving, they're very nice. Walnut Baklava was delicious. Beef samosa was also super good. Matcha strawberry is very refreshing. The ladies were doing their absolute best but they needed more help. *A critique: if you only have 3 people make sure your COFFEE BAR PERSON STAYS ON THE COFFEE BAR. Having them go between register and coffee slowed everything down Register person could have gotten the food maybe helped prep drinks or used the other part of the bar to help make them and your third could have been making the teas used for drinks , prepping the orders and helping bar if necessary since it looked like the teas were taking a while and register was getting back up. I've passed by this place so many times, and I finally pulled over to try it out. My first impression when I walked in was "woah, this smells amazing and looks super boujee"! The place is stunning and extremely clean. Lots of seating and tables. Definitely IG worthy. My sister and I tried the matcha and the pistacho latte. Both were 10/10! Then we tried the potato and the chicken samosa looking things, and those were super good. With one bite, you can taste all the delicious spices they put in it. The worst customer service . The other day , I was the only person standing in land , i waited for almost 10 minutes, no one greeted me , just passed by me like I didn't exist . Today I went back , one the employees took my order , while waiting in the bus , I took a couple of sips of coffee ( soy cappuccino) it tasted like hot chocolate. While waiting for my order , I noticed two customers, it took no time for them to get their order taken , the employee greeted them with a smile. The customers look just like the employees. I was excited to see a Yemeni coffee shop open up in Santa Clara. While short on time, we stopped in quickly to grab a cup to-go until our next full experience. Waited 43 minutes for 2 adeni chais. Although frustrated, we tried to be understanding and kept polite. When the drinks were finally made after a reminder, I kindly commented that they should be comped. I shouldn't have to say anything, they should've offered that as the bare minimum. However, they weren't comped. Disappointingly, the chai lacked flavor so our time was truly wasted. I had a several great experiences at Milyar cafe this week! It's clear that the staff is working hard and they give the place a warm and friendly vibe. Their hot cocoa was so nice and creamy, some of the best I've had at a cafe! I also tried their yemenade and the cheese stuffed samosa and enjoyed the flavors. The interior design is gorgeous! I've also come here to study/work for a few hours. The seats are comfortable and the music is at a good volume. WiFi is available upon request and is pretty strong.
