Odd first experience here. We were excited to try this place, since our daughter goes to SCU so we drive by all the time. Verified online they were open, however, when we pulled up the lights were off. Anna-frame advertisement was on the sidewalk and the door was unlocked. We waited for a bit but no one came out. Maybe they forgot to lock up the place last night? Decor is nice though so that's my 3 stars. We ended up at Whatcoffee. A coffee shop open until 12am? What a great place for students needing to get their work done and having amazing caffeinated beverages to help fuel us! First things first, I love the layout of the coffee shop! The high ceilings allow you to feel like you're not being suffocated with your assignments (lol), lots of comfortable sitting areas with plugs, and the best part is that it's well lit so it keeps you awake! My favorite go-to drink is the iced Adeni Chai (blackj tea with yemeni spices and cream) with cold foam. Warning! This drink is highly caffeinated. I made the mistake of drinking a 16 oz past 8pm and I was awake til 2am! I've tried their Yemeni Latte, it wasn't my personal favorite because of the many spices-- but I've talked to others and for some it's their drink of choice. The mango arabia is the one for you if you like your drinks sweet. I'm a creature of habit, so I will be sticking to the Adeni Chai! Finally a yemeni tea place closer to home! Everything hit the spot and they are definitely cheaper than Bae Tea and Qamaria. The quality of spices in the tea was also very good. We got the adeni chai and i think next time we will try the basic yemeni tea as that has just cardamom. The honey cake was moist and airy and fresh! And my daughter really enjoyed the rainbow cake too. Im looking forward to returning and trying their zaatar bread as well. Came here to catch up with a friend on a weekday afternoon. She had bookmarked this place for a while. The shop is spacious. There's plenty of parking on the streets outside as it is located in the suburbs in Santa Clara. There was an assortment of people studying, working, solo, and chatting with friends. I ate before coming, but I wish I didn't once I saw the array of foods at the counter. The staff was friendly. I got the Yemeni latte. It came out fast. It was not too sweet and had a nice flavor! I noticed they had many offerings, even matcha. I'd love to try something new next time. The cleanliness could be better in terms of cleaning up after guests have left. So il rate on few things. First off we got a few drinksto test. Everybody agreed they were watered down flavors. We got pistachio latte, oat latte, shaken and cinnamon brown sugar latte, caramel machiatto. They felt watered down. Also the straws r so flimsy they bend when you need to stir the latte. Excited to welcome Milyar Cafe to the neighborhood it's a burst of culture and good energy. The space is alive with conversation, friends catching up, and families in heated game-night battles (pretty sure I witnessed a Connect Four match worthy of a trophy). Staff are warm and patient and guiding me through menu items I'd never tried before yet my standouts are: Heavenly milk cake and their freshly made lemonade with real limes on request--life-changing. Service can take a little time, but that's part of the charm. Milyar Cafe, an Arabian cafe and bakery, was a surprising find in Santa Clara. The interiors are beautifully done and their collection of teas, coffees and baked goods is impressive. The staff is welcoming and friendly. I had the Mufawaar coffee - a light roast with cardamom and milk. It was pretty good. Today, I'm here in Silicon Valley. This is something I've been meaning to do for a long time. Everytime I'm going down Monroe St. on late Nights, I've seen this Shop all the time. I'm here at Milyar Café in Santa Clara this Afternoon. It looks kinda High-end, or Luxurious in here. And there's some good and real hardworking people Working here. I had my Cup of Iced Yemeni Latte, Potato Pastry, and Dubai Cheesecake. The Yemeni style Latte was robust. The Sautéed Medley of Veggies in the Potato Pastry, and balance of flavors, was a really good combination, and it was seasoned very well. And the Dubai Cheesecake, was a Lighter version than all the other versions I had of this Cake so far, but decadent, fragrant, and exquisite. I was thinking this was going to be a 3.9-4.3 stars, I want to give this a 4.4/4.5 stars, but I'm going to give this 4.4 stars out of 5 stars. That's a High and solid Score. We visited on a Saturday afternoon and found plenty of parking across the street. The strawberry matcha was good, at first it tasted strongly of matcha and once you mix it well get I tasted the sweet strawberry puree. I ordered the Dubai cheesecake and it was very soft in texture and crumbly, it was good but I wish I tasted more of the chocolate and I did taste the pistachio. My fiancé's chocolate croissant was really good and filled with chocolate in the inside. The Mango Arabia refresher was a yummy mango smoothie which I liked. Honestly the baklava is amazing. Never tried other items but would love to! I think the biggest critique I have, is that I have to call before I drive over since they usually sell out of the baklava. The staff was all smiles, which was great. We ordered a 32oz pot of Adeni chai. It was ready in approx 10 mins while we were playing cards. The taste was good. Not as strong. Not as hot as requested (extra hot). Plus they told me the lid of the pot broke. So the chai became cold too soon. The cups that came along were a little dirty, they had sticky stickers outside (brand stickers half removed half intact). Doesn't look or feel nice. I have had Adeni chai before and though this one was good i have had way better. They also had a variety of pastries. I would give this place another try before letting it go altogether. read more

The employee at the register was very friendly and helpful. Some of the desserts on display did not have labels, so she spent time going over everything. The milk cakes and cheesecakes appeared to be their specialties, but they also did sell Dubai chocolate bars if you're into the hype. I ordered a slice of pistachio milk cake, biscoff cheesecake, and an iced rose almond milk latte. I enjoyed everything. If you're a fan of tres leches, the pistachio milk cake was exactly that. Lots of seating, decor is bright and open. I came on a Monday morning and a few people were sitting around. I ordered an iced pistachio latte ($5.95) and a baklava ($6.50). The pistachio latte was great! It was nutty and sweet but neither was overpowering. The baklava - I wish it was fresh as the flakiness wasn't there however the taste was there, delicious! They're still new so giving them some grace on the food item, but overall great place to check out, reasonably priced compared to other coffee shops and it's beautiful! The service is very friendly and attentive. I love the decor, it feels like I'm transported back to the Arab world. It's bright and airy. Though it's an open concept, you don't really hear conversations on the other side very much. The coffee and food choices can be quite overwhelming because they are in another language and unfamiliar to a Chinese American, but the staff takes time to explain to a non-native like me. We saw this cafe on our way to Santana Row. It looked beautiful from the outside! It's absolutely gorgeous on the inside as well. However, upon walking in, the woman in the front gave us an upset look. I swear I saw her smile previously to the customer in front of us. When I ordered my caramel macchiato, she said "hot or iced?" quickly and quietly. I didn't hear her, so I said "hm?" But she did not respond. I placed my order at 10:20, went to the restroom, hung out around the place, walked outside... and our drinks were not ready (only ordered two drinks and there was only one customer that was before us). The woman kept looking at me here and there, still not saying anything, giving me a weird look. Twenty minutes passed and our drinks were still not ready. I saw that the woman just gave the other customers their drinks that came in after us... I told my husband that I wanted to ask for a refund and just leave, but he saw that the other worker was finishing up our drinks. This other worker gave us our drinks and did say "sorry for the wait," which I appreciate. However, if this other worker wasn't there, I don't know if I would've ever gotten my drink... anyways, 25 minutes later, we finally got our drinks. They were good (nothing super special), but we are never returning, nor ever recommending this place due to the poor service. I have never had to wait more than 15 minutes for coffee before... and if I did, it was SUPER busy and packed. At the time we were here, there were only 3-4 people in the cafe. So we stopped by this place seeing the fancy name. The interiors are great but the food and coffee is so bad. We got the potato pie but they mistakenly gave us the beef pie and I am vegetarian which I got to know after taking a bite. I understand mistakes happen but I told the main server that I don't eat beef and chicken. I visited the cafe on a Monday morning around 11 am. I was able to find parking easily across the street from the cafe, and there was an open parking lot behind the building. The decor was nice, but the tables were dirty, and the booths had loads of crumbs under the cushions and in the crevices. There were 2 other customers sitting at tables, and I saw 2 people behind the counter. I may have missed a mad rush of customers, and the staff had not had a chance to clean up yet. I cleaned up my own table a bit, which made me feel more comfortable sitting down. The standard combined tax rate in Santa Clara is 9.13%, even for heated food and beverages. So why the markup? It's a basic cup of espresso and milk, not a luxury import. Now, the flavor. I've had my share of cortados--across continents, during my time in the U.S. Military, and in travels abroad. This one? Tasted like someone's first attempt at coffee art. Flat texture, no depth, no balance. It was weak, almost watered-down, and lacked the signature richness a cortado should carry. And let's be honest--a cortado is one of the simplest espresso-based drinks to get right. If this shop can't get a cortado right, I'm not holding my breath for anything else on the menu. Milyar has AMAZING specialty coffees and teas that they brew by hand from a hot plate using weekly-fresh lightly-roasted Yemini beans. Five PLUS starts for that and the amazing experience that offers; I HIGHLY recommend this to anyone wanting something authentic like what used to exist at Voyager and Chromatic when those paces were founded. UNFORTUNATELY, the espresso-based and cold drinks are being replaced by sugary standards you would find at Starbucks; this is sad, since the rose-flower latte and saffron latte were AMAZING but they are replaced by caramel etc. This is a clear turn from what was authentic from the heritage of the founders towards the mainstream American sugary experience. FIVE PLUS stars for the Yemini coffees and teas off the hotplate, and NO stars for the shift towards the standard sugary stuff from the machine.
