Literally such delicious food and drinks here. I haven't had authentic Taiwanese cafe food since moving out of the area, but this place brings me back to my roots. The auntie here who take care of me was the sweetest and was super lovely to chat with. Their menu is super expansive but takes care of everything from the basic delicious picked dishes to main rice/noodle dishes. One of the drinks of the day was a kumquat lemon tea, which I got with no sugar or ice. Will say without the sugar, it tasted like a lemon candy which was such a nice complement of both tangy but slightly sweet from the kumquats. Most customers are return customers. You don't see that many new faces here tbh. I was going to order beef noodle soup because it's what I always got, but decided to get herbal soup with pork 藥膳排骨because the owner recommended it. I really just wanted something soupy and hot anyway, that worked for me! You get complimentary thin noodles to go with too. The pork ribs were tender and easy to get off the bone (5/5) the soup warmed me up so quickly. Yum! The herbal taste may not be for everyone tho if you're not used to it. Stinky Tofu - (6/5) there's nothing you can complain about this. It's traditional. It's stinky. The veggies are sour and spicy. It's great! Get it! Popcorn Chicken - (4/5) I think it's pretty good, but my sister and mom were like raving about this haha. It's very fresh, juicy, and tender. There isn't excess skin or breading coated. My sister however said this is perfect for her so it's 5/5 for her. I like the version from Dago instead since it's not as sweet, and the meat is also a bit thicker? I'm not very sure what actually is different since it's been a while. But forsure I still recommend this dish if you prefer a little sweetness. Woo! Although they are not esteemed in the same ways that Japanese bentos are in the popular consciousness, Taiwanese lunch boxes are always that perfect balance of delicious and affordable that always keep me coming back for more. While Diamond Bar may not be a prime culinary destination, there are plenty of decent Taiwanese food options in and around the city and Mimi 5 Bobee definitely counts as one of them. Still not quite sure what the name is all about but there is a vague cat theme to this restaurant... whatever. The kind Taiwanese aunties will make sure your orders big or small will be fulfilled to the best of their abilities and if you ask super nicely, they might even upgrade your drink from small to large. I got a Combo C for $11.50 and chose a classic Taiwanese Fried Pork Chop, which comes with a small salad and a Wintermelon Tea. I should have read yelp review before going there to try it for the first time. To make this short: the owner seems very nice, but the waitress lady was extremely rude. She does not speak English and not even trying. She even told us to "hurry up, lot of customer waiting", while we were still not done. I guess we were not considered a customer then? She only being polite to customer who speaks Chinese. So if you can't speak Chinese, please don't expect to get any kind of service in this place. We sat down and were promptly attended to by these young kids. We decided to start off with some stewed seaweed as appetizer and my whole family ordered noodle soup. The seaweed was a huge disappointment. I thought it would be light and sort of like a palate cleanser. That was not the case. It was thick, heavily seasoned, and garlicky. We left that mostly untouched. I was pleasantly surprised by the beef bouillon noodle soup I ordered. The broth was the perfect refreshing, savory blend. I went with handmade noodles and half meat/half tendon. That was the winning combo! Handmade noodles had an extra charge but were so worth it. The texture and chewiness - chef's kiss.
