It was a busy Saturday, and we needed to stop for breakfast to refuel. Mimi's used to be a decent place to grab a bite, although we haven't been in many years. We were surprised that the place hadn't been updated in what looks to be 20+ years! Everything looked tired and worn. The food was unremarkable. Service was slow, even though it wasn't busy. I took my two young kids to Mimi's and we had a great experience. I haven't been to Mimi's since I was a teenager and I don't remember having such great service then as we did with our server Ashley. She was super kind (and funny!) and my kids loved her. I always take note if servers engage or even acknowledge my kids and she definitely stood out in my experience! I had a flat tire a couple of weeks ago and decided to walk over to Mimi's to wait for my car to get done. The manager greeted me and was very kind. I ordered the Salmon. It was prepared with teriyaki sauce and some veggies and rice. It was delicious and the service was very good. I felt welcomed and sometimes that is not the case when dining alone. It's been several years since we have been here. We decided to try breakfast today. I ordered the Quiche Florentine and hubby ordered the corned beef hash and eggs with a muffin. The l staff is very friendly on this busy Sunday afternoon. They answered all of our questions about menu items and checked in on us in a timely manner. Nice return to the chain since many years ago. Not for lack of liking Mimi's but life changes that I haven't been at a Mimi's in a while. Last we as in Tri-Valley East Bay Area. Met a friend here yesterday and the experience was great. As always, the exterior or the building is immediately identifiable by the cottage look. Adorable! In the nice weather we had, the outside patio was inviting. However, my friend wanted to indoors today. The inside seating is divided into the front area where hostess station is as well as dining rooms to the right and straight ahead. It was nice to see a good selection on the sizable menu but not the 100 page tome some restaurants have to try and do everything. Breakfast is all day, by the way. I chose the Tuscan Chicken. Cut tender chicken meat with a ton of vegetables all cooked perfect (crisp, not soggy), on a bit of mashed potato, and a light sauce. OMG! I was in heaven. And the Triple Berry Iced Tea...well, I had three! So glad we went as I tend to drive by often and forget it is there. That won't be happening again as I will be back often. read more

We waited to be seated over 3 mins, no one even greeted us. We weren't the only ones waiting to be seated.

Mediocre service. The omlet, which was dry and tasteless, was supposed to be served with sourdough bread but they were out (out of sourdough when it's part of several of the dishes' descriptions on the menu) which wasn't mentioned until the meal was delivered, but then my partner's avocado toast was served on sourdough . So I questioned that and the waiter said, "Oh, I'll see if they have some in the kitchen"...huh? Isn't that where the bread is kept? Had to wait too long for water after asking for it. Although our sever tall Mexican guy was very rude from the beginning one person of our group wasn't served till after the rest of the group was finished with their food. After all that he looked at me and saw I didn't tip because the other person in my party did and he yelled at me for not tipping. So most eating spots close early in this area. I walk in thinking it surely must be closed. I spot a waitress. I look around and no one is in sight. I ask her if they are open, she offers to seat me. The charm is gone, we had rotten cucumbers in the salad w/rotten lettuce pieces, sloppy plates, underwhelming flavorless hamburgers, overcooked grilled cheese, kids dirt cup dessert was no where near as advertised, gross dirty floors, dusty window ledges. Only one poor fellow was doing most all of the jobs as host, waiter, busser, hardly saw him. Took the grandkids for pancakes, but everything about this location was a horrific disaster, they need to start over or close the doors, I can't believe the bill We paid for the disgusting food, such a bummer. read more

We decided to give Mimi's a try while in Folsom shopping. It's been years since I've gone to Mimi's as I recall a lot of changes in the menu (not as good). This Mimi's was pretty empty but we were greeted right away by the person I assume was the manager based on how he was dressed. Service overall was pretty slow. The manager seemed to be the one running around helping people. We opted to sit outside and he told us someone would be out shortly to help us. No one came out but not too long after the same manager came out and took our order. The server only came out to bring our food after we ordered and to bring us the check. The manager was super polite and nice. We ordered the French dip sandwich with fries (forgot to take a picture). It was pretty bland but the fries seems crisp and fresh. We didn't hate it but we wouldn't order it again. The Turkey pesto ciabatta was pretty tasty. I feel like I've had it here before years and years ago but I was still fairly happy with it. The piled on the baby greens but the pesto itself was not as prominent. This again came with fries which were good. I also ordered the buttermilk spice muffins to go. I remember them being REALLY good before. I tried one when I got home. The bottom of the muffin was over cooked and a bit dry and the flavor just wasn't as strong as it I remember it before. read more

Went to Mimi's today for breakfast. Servers were good. But when our first cup of coffee was served, it was lukewarm. Drinkable but just warm. When the server came to refill our cups she DID refresh with hot coffee. But the food! It was terrible. Wife ordered a blt on sourdough. It was served on white bread masquerading as sourdough. Thankfully, though, it's hard to ruin bacon so her sandwich was passable. But I ordered the Mikes Hot honey chicken and waffles from special menu. The waffles were dry and tasted like they were prepackaged and had a processed flavor. The chicken was crusted with something that made the meat hard--and hard to eat. It had no taste. If there was any honey on it, hot or not, you wouldn't know it. So when the server came over to ask how everything was, I had to tell her. It was terrible. For the first time ever, I had to tell someone to take my food away. Thankfully they didn't charge for my meal and actually comped us two muffins as an apology. But even the muffins were terrible. Again that prepackaged, process flavor. Now usually I will give a diner a second chance, but the bottom line is this: I will not be eating at Mimi's Cafe again. read more
