When we entered the restaurant we were not greeted, server didn't even say hi to us just asked how many and sat us without asking if we needed a coffee or water to start. Nice return to the chain since many years ago. Not for lack of liking Mimi's but life changes that I haven't been at a Mimi's in a while. Last we as in Tri-Valley East Bay Area. Met a friend here yesterday and the experience was great. As always, the exterior or the building is immediately identifiable by the cottage look. Adorable! In the nice weather we had, the outside patio was inviting. However, my friend wanted to indoors today. The inside seating is divided into the front area where hostess station is as well as dining rooms to the right and straight ahead. It was nice to see a good selection on the sizable menu but not the 100 page tome some restaurants have to try and do everything. Breakfast is all day, by the way. I chose the Tuscan Chicken. Cut tender chicken meat with a ton of vegetables all cooked perfect (crisp, not soggy), on a bit of mashed potato, and a light sauce. OMG! I was in heaven. And the Triple Berry Iced Tea...well, I had three! So glad we went as I tend to drive by often and forget it is there. That won't be happening again as I will be back often. read more

It was a busy Saturday, and we needed to stop for breakfast to refuel. Mimi's used to be a decent place to grab a bite, although we haven't been in many years. We were surprised that the place hadn't been updated in what looks to be 20+ years! Everything looked tired and worn. The food was unremarkable. Service was slow, even though it wasn't busy. I took my two young kids to Mimi's and we had a great experience. I haven't been to Mimi's since I was a teenager and I don't remember having such great service then as we did with our server Ashley. She was super kind (and funny!) and my kids loved her. I always take note if servers engage or even acknowledge my kids and she definitely stood out in my experience! Mediocre service. The omlet, which was dry and tasteless, was supposed to be served with sourdough bread but they were out (out of sourdough when it's part of several of the dishes' descriptions on the menu) which wasn't mentioned until the meal was delivered, but then my partner's avocado toast was served on sourdough . So I questioned that and the waiter said, "Oh, I'll see if they have some in the kitchen"...huh? Isn't that where the bread is kept? Had to wait too long for water after asking for it. Although our sever tall Mexican guy was very rude from the beginning one person of our group wasn't served till after the rest of the group was finished with their food. The charm is gone, we had rotten cucumbers in the salad w/rotten lettuce pieces, sloppy plates, underwhelming flavorless hamburgers, overcooked grilled cheese, kids dirt cup dessert was no where near as advertised, gross dirty floors, dusty window ledges. Only one poor fellow was doing most all of the jobs as host, waiter, busser, hardly saw him. We decided to give Mimi's a try while in Folsom shopping. It's been years since I've gone to Mimi's as I recall a lot of changes in the menu (not as good). This Mimi's was pretty empty but we were greeted right away by the person I assume was the manager based on how he was dressed. Service overall was pretty slow. The manager seemed to be the one running around helping people. We opted to sit outside and he told us someone would be out shortly to help us. No one came out but not too long after the same manager came out and took our order. The server only came out to bring our food after we ordered and to bring us the check. The manager was super polite and nice. We ordered the French dip sandwich with fries (forgot to take a picture). It was pretty bland but the fries seems crisp and fresh. We didn't hate it but we wouldn't order it again. The Turkey pesto ciabatta was pretty tasty. I feel like I've had it here before years and years ago but I was still fairly happy with it. The piled on the baby greens but the pesto itself was not as prominent. This again came with fries which were good. I also ordered the buttermilk spice muffins to go. I remember them being REALLY good before. I tried one when I got home. The bottom of the muffin was over cooked and a bit dry and the flavor just wasn't as strong as it I remember it before. read more

Always great food that feels like home. I'll admit, Mimi's isn't fancy or upscale, but it is certainly underrated. I've been coming to this location for years, and it has always been enjoyable! This last visit, the food was 4.5 stars. I had the chicken and quinoa salad. It was great with lots of toppings, but looked a little messy and had a ton of rough sliced romaine. Even though it wasn't very 'instagram worthy', it was delicious! I'd recommend asking for half lettuce so that you can enjoy the plethora of toppings (I picked about about half of the lettuce out and was plenty full off of the rest.) French onion soup was a nice pairing too. Not the best I've had, but still good! My mom had the quiche and she said she enjoyed it! She has been making quiches at home lately and wanted to compare, and said that it was very close to hers! The overall service was so delightful! Our server gave us plenty of time with the large menu, while checking on us the right amount of times so we never felt abandoned. She was ready to answer any questions we had and provided recommendations. We even had other servers who were walking by ask if we needed anything. Nowadays, that doesn't seem to be common practice in many restaurants, and I think that deserves 5 stars.
