Trish was a great server and food was amazing. Fast service and nice environment. Sad they are closing.

Our family has been going to Mimi's for quite a few years and everything seems to have gone downhill unfortunately. We went today and sat in the front greeting room for about 15 minutes or more and nobody ever showed up to seat or greet us. We had to go find somebody to let them know we are wanting to be seated and have been there for quite a while. After finally being seated, the service was not good and very slow. There weren't even any customers in the room. We were seated straight ahead as you walk in the front door, so it was not crowded at all. I ordered a French dip sandwich and it was probably one of the worst ones I've ever had. It wasn't even semi close to what it looks like on their menu. Very little meat (I would say about 2 1/2 ounces of meat on the whole sandwich) with dry bread and the Ajou dipping sauce was barely warm. Our other meal was missing a couple items we had to ask for also. The service and food has gone way downhill and I'm sad to say, we will not be going back. I'm not sure if they had a manager on duty or if they even have one. Someone is responsible for making sure all of the food goes to the customer the way it should be sent to the customer as in hot for hot meals and presentable with portions that match the price they're selling those items for. If I was the manager the plates they sent us today would not be acceptable and I would need to have a talk with the chef or line cooks about what's going on. I have owned two restaurants and have worked in the food industry. This is not acceptable for the customers. read more

Always great food that feels like home. I'll admit, Mimi's isn't fancy or upscale, but it is certainly underrated. I've been coming to this location for years, and it has always been enjoyable! This last visit, the food was 4.5 stars. I had the chicken and quinoa salad. It was great with lots of toppings, but looked a little messy and had a ton of rough sliced romaine. Even though it wasn't very 'instagram worthy', it was delicious! I'd recommend asking for half lettuce so that you can enjoy the plethora of toppings (I picked about about half of the lettuce out and was plenty full off of the rest.) French onion soup was a nice pairing too. Not the best I've had, but still good! My mom had the quiche and she said she enjoyed it! She has been making quiches at home lately and wanted to compare, and said that it was very close to hers! The overall service was so delightful! Our server gave us plenty of time with the large menu, while checking on us the right amount of times so we never felt abandoned. She was ready to answer any questions we had and provided recommendations. We even had other servers who were walking by ask if we needed anything. Nowadays, that doesn't seem to be common practice in many restaurants, and I think that deserves 5 stars. Food and prices are great but the service was truly amazing. I went in after a long trip with the kids and CJ our waitress was so patient with me. She helped the kids figure out what they wanted to eat (I think she knew I was tired) and brought them some things to stay busy. We usually stop down the street but decided to go to Mimi's this time and I'm so glad we did. We will definitely be coming back. Thanks CJ we will see you again soon read more

The bread is DELICIOUS. Let me go off on the carrot raisin Madeline's they serve as part of their bread basket. HUGE FANS. in fact, when I was younger and was a regular at Mimi's (not this specific one) this is how I first found my love for carrot cake. I would go here and buy a bowl of their corn chowder and then eat all the bread and leave. I suggest you do that here but if you are here for a proper dinner, here is a proper review. The restaurant was less than half full when we arrived but they couldn't seat us due to lack of staff. Which is a wise choice because I don't want to be waiting around for my waiter to come and serve me. We didn't wait to long, perhaps 10-15 minutes. Now for the foooooooood: Corn chowder: the second thing redeemable about Mimi's. You expect chowder to be on the salty side because so many chains accidentally do it like that but NO NOT MIMI. It's not salty AT ALL and that's surprising! It was... PALATABLE!! Yay!! French Pot Roast: There's a picture of it in the menu (and one attached along with the beautiful bread) and it's basically pot roast on mash potatoes. The potatoes were normal but the roast was salty. Like real salty. It tasted as if someone had taken your parking spot that you were waiting 10 minutes for and then you kidnapped the person and started roasting them and then quit roasting them because you aren't a cannibal and then just ate a bowl full of salt. Yeah... the mash potato made it easier to eat but I mean really... it was salty. Meatloaf: This was different. The person who ordered it really liked it (which is good) but this isn't their review, it's mine and I say it was weird. It's not like any meatloaf you've eaten before. It's like... REAL solid. Processed solid. Like you know the cartoon pet food where the owner is opening a can of (let's say) dog food and then wiggles it out of the container and it's just solid? Kinda like that. It had a little funky taste to it but otherwise tasted normal. Shepard's pie: Unfortunately I can't say much as I only had a spoonful of it but it is a standard pie. But a little salty. It's like they were discussing in the kitchen "Chef! We have a lack of flavor in all of our dishes except the chowder, what do we do?" And the chef replied "SALT IT!" As if they were trying to exterminate vampires?! (Wait... conspiracy theory: All the salty foods at chains are just trying to catch vampires. (I'm coming for your brand Shane)). Other than that, the food came out suspiciously fast. Like it was a McDonald's. That fast (kinda). The only reason it got 3 stars is becuase of their carrot raisin Madeline's and corn chowder. Folsom location had great service. Vicky was very attentive and provided excellent customer service! It was obvious that she is a very diligent and a hard worker. Hopefully, her employer appreciates her. My husband had the Brioche French Toast with eggs/potatoes which he fully enjoyed. Unfortunately, we were unable to sustitute the meat portion of the meal with fresh fruit. They only offered potatoes for a sustitute. We were told we would have to pay extra for the fresh fruit. My wife and I had breakfast at this location today and the overall experience was fantastic! We were seated immediately, the food was prompt and hot. Our waitress was doing a great job and 71 years old!! This lady runs circles around some of the younger severs we have interacted with. Yesterday, 05/27/2022, we had a graduation party at Mimi's Cafe in Folsom, CA at approximately 9:00 am for 15 people. First of all, we all waited for an hour before we were seated even though there were lots of empty tables.  Secondly, it took a long long time to even get our drinks in. We were so thirsty that my husband found a jug of water with some coffee mugs so we could serve ourselves. Third, we asked for the table to be cleaned and they forgot. The manager came back and apologized and blamed it on short staffing. I told her that this is not a valid 3xcuse because other restaurants like Panda Express, Chipotle, Starbucks, and others just lock the doors and put a sign that they are closed due to staffing issues. If you are not able to serve properly according to the Mimi's Cafe legendary high standard, then you should close. Finally, a 9:00 am graduation party turned into a 4 hour nightmare. What a waste of $$$$$ and time. read more

Passing thru the area we were looking for a breakfast place in Lake Folsom area. We decided on Mimi's Cafe. It had been quite some time since we had been to one. The Yelp 2-1/2 Stars is not an accurate description of this place. Spas a Elite 18 Yelper this place is Highly Recommended/It's a Bomb. So the server was Ryan who took very good care of this client. He Rocks. He is very personable. Will go out of his way to make sure you have everything you need and more. As a ex-restaurant Manager this guy is a Keeper for any restaurant he works at. Big time Kudos to you Ryan. Now for the food The Coffee Mocha he made (which I had two) was exception. See photo My wife had an omelette which he personally helped her add a few items to it. She said it was very good and ate most of it. The potatoes were just as ordered and crispy and very flavorful. See photo. Now for the Pineapple Upside Down Muffin. It looked very good and she said the potatoes very very good. Pretty hard to mess this one. It did appear that the over easy eggs might have been just a little under cooked. Oh no...my Mimi's Cafe Easter dinner experience was a bit off due to lack of staffing and lack of food. My party of 12 made a 5:30 pm reservation. Most diners that night made reservations. We ordered from their fixed Easter 3 course meal. $18.99 (+$2 for salmon). The service started off great. Someone took our drink orders and we got our drinks timely. Our orders were taken quickly. Each course came out timely. But it was served by other people than our assigned waitress. She went missing for awhile. No drink refills. Oddly after dessert was served, she came back to refill the waters. The servers did their best and had great attitudes, but I can see they were understaffed. So that falls on management. The food was disappointing and not as advertised on the menu. We got the complimentary bread baskets but it was skimpy. They only provided one bread choice per person. This is the first hint that they didn't have enough food. First: choice of salad ( house or ceaser) or soup (tomato basil, corn chowder, French onion). The French onion was wonderful...great sweet onions...darn delicious flavor. The salads had fresh ingredients and looked good. Yum. Second: Turkey, ham, or salmon. Sides: Stuffing, mashed potatoes, sautéed green beans with bacon & caramelized onions. The turkey plate is supposed to be served with cranberry sauce. But they forgot to plate the cranberry sauce. We had to ask, they brought it out in little plastic dipping containers. The green beans were not sautéed but boiled blanched unseasoned...definitely not served as advertised. The turkey servings were skimpy. Two thin slices per plate. It wasn't even a slice, it was more of a shaving. So disappointing. Again poor planning on having enough food. Plus the ham was cheap processed meat drenched in sweet orange sauce. Third: Chocolate chip bread pudding or molten lava cake. But they ran out of cake and substituted with a choice of strawberry parfait or chocolate pie. read more

We stopped in here after Yelp's Fall Picnic at Boa Vista Orchards for dinner and a couple of glasses of wine. We go to the Mimi's often in Elk Grove, but had never been here. It is basically the same as any other Mimi's and of course, the menu is the same. I had the Parisian Ham Baguette and it was totally delish. It was large enough to cut in half and save half for lunch the next day. Oh, and I started off with a cup of their excellent French Onion soup. Corina had the quiche. Service was great. The service was good our server did a great job making sure our dietary needs were met. The coffee kept flowing and the OJ kept pouring in! It was pretty quiet and relaxed for a weekend so no complaints about the restaurant here. Unfortunately that's were my compliments end. The breakfast we ordered was beyond bland in flavor. All 6 of our dishes were about a 2/5 in deliciousness. The large portions although favorable didn't make up for the taste. Ps. We ate at the Folsom Mimi's and really enjoyed our dinner and the entire experience. The restaurant was cozy and not too loud. Our appetizer was brought out in a timely manner and dinner was served shortly thereafter. Our server, Alyssah, was amazing!! She was very attentive without being intrusive. Had dinner tonight at Mimi's in Folsom and everything we ordered was delicious. It's been several years since we've eaten there... used to bring my 3 children there quite often when they first opened. Since then we've moved and happened to be in Folsom today... thought we'd revisit! It was just as great as I remember. The service was excellent and so was the food. We had meatloaf (delicious and moist) and the pot roast (tender and flavorful) They have a nice wine and beer selection also. We'll definitely be back when we're in Folsom! read more

Went today for the Thanksgiving meal. First thing I noticed was the windows were covered in cobwebs on the inside, that is unacceptable for a restaurant to not be clean. the waitress was terribly inexperienced, she was serving food right across me to the rest of the table which there were six of us. She forgot several things to bring us. The food was awful, it was supposed to be real turkey and it was not must have been turkey roll or something else. When asked if we could have french fries and just a side of turkey for the 8-year-old we were told no even though they had french fries available on the kids menu. The waitress never refilled our drinks, was not attentive or friendly at all. The entire meal was not good food. Amazing service from Nicki. Sometimes when we go to a restaurant service is a blah and you could tell that the server did not like being there. This was definitely not the case with Nikki.She has a great personality, friendly , kind and very warm. I Brought a first timer to Mimi's and my friend was completely wowed by the service and the food. Nikki has been one of the best servers we've ever had the pleasure of meeting and Mimi's is very lucky to have her on the team and she definitely has made a return customer out of my friend and I. We even passed on the feedback to her manager Adam and he was equally friendly! He has a great team! Come see nicki when you get a chance! Oh the food.
