The food took a while, I had Quiche with fruit instead of potatoes. Husband had an omelet w/ potatoes. His potatoes were barely warm, but the omelet was hot. My quiche was hot and good. The consisted of one strawberry sliced on top of a bowl of blueberries. The blueberries were rancid. I ate a spoonful before looking closely and immediately spit them out. Looking at them they were obviously no good. They should have never served them. Our waitress didn't come back around. I think she was the only waitress and a few larger parties had come in. We were down the street when Mimi's Cafe came up as a recommendations as we were looking for a brunch spot. We arrived on a Friday early noon, so there was not too much of a crowd and were able to get seated right away. I love the theme they display, it's New Orleans Louisiana! But don't expect New Orleans food flare. They do have a variety of different options for brunch so it hard to pick exactly what we wanted. My husband got the chicken cordeaun blue, and I got the Benedict. The chicken was moist, crispy on the outside and delicious! My Benedict was yummy, simple and classic with the runny yolk and the crispy golden potatoes on the side. They have a great menu for drinks as well. I would definitely be back for brunch! We had a mimis cafe close to my home before so I was excited to see this closeby! There wasn't a lot of people for a random evening dinner, only one of the rooms had people. The service took awhile which was disappointing and when our food came things felt overcooked. We were offered bread but when we reminded our waitress the bread given to us was tough/hard. Mimi's Cafe features eclectic decor and a delicious, homestyle menu. I nearly always get the turkey dinner here, and it's incredibly delicious. The sandwiches and soups are excellent as well. Everything about the restaurant suggests a French experience, but the menu itself could definitely be more so. There used to be a cordon bleu; now there are crepes. But you won't find escargot or anything like that--you'll have to visit La Caille if you want a true French meal. The service here varies a lot based on who is serving. I've had borderline rude servers and incredibly kind ones. I wish I could give zero stars. This was, hands down, one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. We waited an hour and a half for our food, and when it finally arrived, every single order at our table was wrong. The food itself was terrible -- most of us couldn't even finish our meals. Service was just as bad. We saw our waitress a total of three times during the two hours we were there, and it was not busy. We watched other tables have the same issues; one family even left before their food arrived because the wait was so long. When it came time to pay, we sat and waited again, only to finally walk to the kiosk and wait for someone to ring us up. To make matters worse, when we went to the restroom, there was broken glass on the floor. Another waitress saw it and simply said, "Be careful," but no one ever cleaned it up -- a clear safety hazard. Overall, everything about this visit was unacceptable: the wait time, the food quality, the lack of service, and the disregard for customer safety. We had made a reservation and the restaurant did not seem busy so we were seated right away. overall the restaurant seemed understaffed and overwhelmed. it took forever for our order to be taken, the food came in haphazardly and some of it was correct and some not. the table got the tempura cauliflower, which was average but had good sauce; the jambalaya which did not taste like jambalaya; the soup sandwich and salad combo in which they forgot most of the soup; and hickory glazed fish in which the sauce was good but they kept messing it up. the flavor of each varied as well as the grilled cheese and tomato soup were good but the jambalaya was bad and the fish average, overall a disappointing visit read more

Was sat immediately upon arrival on a Sunday afternoon. Waiter forgot to bring tea, muffin, and croissant. However they were friendly! After a reminder about our items, they brought them to us! Ordered an omelet (no cheese) that had tortilla strips inside and on top. It's not listed on the online menu, but that's good because do not get it! The tortillas inside didn't add any flavor and made the whole omelet a weird texture. I tried to eat what I could but it just wasn't good. Friend ordered cornbeef hash with a pumpkin spice muffin. Came here for the Valentine's Day three course meal and I wish I hadn't. To start off the reservations don't actually reserve your spot, when you get there you got to wait for seating still. Why have the reservations if you don't have a spot ready? I could let that go if we didn't proceed to sit there for an hour waiting for the appetizer and a water refill. Very comforting and cheesy. The chicken was great! Crunchy crust and gooey center. Lots of ham inside. It also came with a lovely creamy sauce. The au gratin potatoes needed salt and pretty much tasted like a plain potato. The spinach was over cooked and I could only taste garlic. The lava cake is pretty much what you would expect. It's good but didn't blow me away. Service was quick and really good but my server wasn't the friendliest. Not unfriendly; just straight business. The ambiance was really cool. I love the interior design and the foyer has a huge fire place. It's decorated almost like Louisiana style but I can't quite put my finger on it. It's unique and fun. Had breakfast here on Friday morning. Maritza was the wait person who served me. She was welcoming and kind. The food was exactly what I wanted, served as I asked. Maritza kept my tea hot and served correctly--in a teapot without putting hot water in the cup, too. Maritza was attentive without hovering. Visiting SLC from North Carolina for the holiday and saw that they still had a Mimi's Cafe, our old favorite. Had to come for a visit and had the most wonderful service from Tia! She was the sweetest, most attentive and helpful server I think we've ever had. If we lived here we would be regulars just for her, great service makes the meal. I really enjoy Mimi's Cafe for breakfast/brunch, so I took my son on a Friday morning to the only one left in the area. Our server was a really sweet lady. My baby has started to get pretty chatty with an unregulated volume, but the older ladies in the booth behind us didn't seem to mind, thankfully. It was otherwise not very busy in there, and was pretty quiet. I gave some blueberry muffin to my son, who just loved it, obviously. He went through an anti-egg phase, but I thought the eggs were just fine. I ordered a latte. The only downside was that they don't have decaf espresso. But the drink was good, and a generous portion. The standard bacon and eggs and potatoes is where i always start. They offer a muffin with the meal. It's a Big Muffin. Wow! Nothing like desert to start the day. The service was attentive and the decor a little dated, but I felt right at home with all the New Orleans decor. I liked it so much, I was back the next morning. Over the years I have done 12-14 different breakfast places in the SLC area. This is now in my top 5. I'll be back. Ambiance means little to me at breakfast. Buckle up because I have a lot to say. We showed up early for our 6:30 reservation, and were told there would be a 10-15 minute wait. (Those without reservations were told it would be about 30 minutes.) After 35 minutes, we finally asked how much longer, and were told we were next. (Yeah, like I believed that. I think we were skipped or forgotten.) At 7:10 we were finally seated - right outside the kitchen. We were offered water, and told our server was "right here". But our server didn't come until 7:21. At that time, we ordered appetizers, entrees and desserts. Our appetizers were served 31 minutes later at 7:52, with our server asking if we ordered them. Incidentally, the tomato/basil soup tasted like jarred spaghetti sauce. Our entrees were served at 7:58. The food is subpar at best for this price point, and obviously is not prepared on site. Unfortunately, the cooks here don't seem to know that braised meats shouldn't be served refrigerator-cold. And we were told the side for one order would be beans, but came with broccoli. And the potatoes au gratin had no flavor at all. At 8:14, our server asked us if we were doing desserts, explaining that if she didn't ask, she'd have to find our ticket. Our desserts were served at 8:25, and were the best part of the meal. We got our check at 8:36, and it had a bogus charge on it. (And just FYI: one chocolate-covered strawberry isn't worth $3.50.) Throughout, there was never any apology for the outrageously slow service, no thanks for coming; our server never once asked if we'd like anything else, or checked to see if our experience was okay. Ummm....not sure what is going on here. We're one of four tables (maybe). There is an American Legion meeting in the group room. There is ONE waitress for the entire place. It's Valentine's Day and the place is beyond dead. Service was slow. My wife ordered a drink and it never came. Likely because there's no bartender. The hostess could not be bothered to even help. She was not too warm when we came in. We almost left before being seated--it probably would have been best to leave. The phone was ringing all night and nobody was answering. The fact that the hostess asked us if we had a reservation was laughable because NOBODY was here! We feel bad for the waitress. She's clearly overwhelmed. The folks at the meeting were getting restless because their food is not being served. We've been here now 90 minutes. My food was decent. My wife's was terrible. The salad looked terrible. Her "French Onion" soup had a hash brown in it. Honestly, this place is barely alive. I expect it to close any day now. It's quite depressing. I ordered UBER EATS. and Mimis Cafe had not the entire order ready. The Uber eat drivers need to run to get their orders on time. So the grabbed the bag with my order and left. I would have done the same. So when the brought the two coffees, the diver left. So I called Mimis to find of if I could get the coffees next time I go there. THE OWNER SAID NO! LOL! TWO COFFEES. I spend $60.00 on my order and the owner can't compliment 2 COFFEES. What is that for him? $3.00? Nice to know the people you dealing with. I will never go and eat there or ordered from there again.
