Terrible....I never send food back and today was a first for me. I ordered the turkey platter with green beans and coleslaw. The turkey, gravy and green beans came out cold. The plate tasted exactly like a Hungry Man frozen dinner, maybe worse. The service was decent, and the waiter took my plate back to be warmed up, but it came out barely warmer than before. I was pretty frustrated that it wasn't even offered to discount my bill at all. $16.73 for a cold tasteless meal. I would never retur. read more

I was delightfully surprised by our dinner last night. We haven't been to Mimi's in years and some of the reviews aren't that great. I was a little hesitant, but we had a coupon, so I figured why not. We arrived around 7pm, it was busy, but only had to wait a couple of minutes for a table. I can't remember our server's name, but he took great care us! He made sure my husband and I both had plenty of hot water for our tea and found out if the tomato basil soup had dairy in it or not, it does. I had the house salad with no croutons and added avocado, my son had the steak with broccoli and fries and my husband had an egg white omelette. We all enjoyed our meal! I think Mimi's is trying to improve, so it's worth giving them a try. read more

This place has its own spin on comfort New Orlean's food. It takes what is commonly known about comfort food (mac n' cheese, baked chicken/fish, cheesy sandwiches, and pastas) and adds a French/Creole flair to it depending on the entree. They also have salads and some lighter food options. Taking that it was the 4th of July and many places were closed in Salt Lake, I went here with a mind for something fresh. They luckily had salad options, too, amongst the high fat and large portioned entrees. I went for a Cobb salad with a very large ice tea. With it being 104 outdoors, to chow down on something heavy would only amplify the heat for me. I was satisfied by the quick return of my order after being placed and the friendly service. I usually love this place but recently when I went they had given me the half chicken and I was so excited but when I took a bite of the potato's there was plastic in it! Not a big deal at first I was just gonna ask for new potato's then I had taken a bite of my chicken it tasted like straight up sanitizer!! I thought I was being crazy so I had my mom take a bite and she tasted it too. One mistake is different than having the whole plate contaminated. Went to Mimi's for supper. Very quick & courteous service from Ashley. The bread was yummy. I ordered a quiche & my partner ordered grilled shrimp &strawberry spinach salad. Both meals were excellent. The quiche was baked to a beautiful golden brown & moist & hot. The shrimp & strawberry spinach salad was also very delicious. I would recommend Mimi's any time. We came into the Salt Lake City area on the Fourth Of July, and were surprised by how intensely hot it was. Granted, the metropolitan area is located at the edge of a large desert, and it was early July, so I supposed it really shouldn't come as a shock, but still... triple digits make us feel uncomfortable. As we were not aware that our hotel in fact had a happy dinner hour, we stumbled across the intensely toasty parking lot and found Mimis. The moment we entered the diner we noted the following: 1. It was air-conditioned. 2. The clientele was not unlike that of Cracker Barrel. Of the 50 or so people there, we (late 30's/late 40's) were amongst the five youngest in attendance. 3. There was actually beer on the menu. The last item was a surprise - this being Mormon country and all. Given the fact that we were headed for a concert in Salt Lake that night, we opted for the more safe water. For me, the water served to wash down a shrimp pasta meal I ordered. My wife thought I might want to order jambalaya, and I'm sure it would've been good, but then again, it was freaking hot. Overall, the experience was ok. One star is being extremely generous. My husband & I ordered take out, after a long day. THE biggest mistake ever!I've heard how delicious their meatloaf is. I ordered meatloaf, with mashed potatoes & garlic spinach as the sides. My husband ordered the French dip & a side salad with balsamic dressing. When we got home & sat down to eat, we immediately noticed something (multiple "things") was off. My meatloaf looked like some kind of "meat" I've never seen. I was starving so I thought I would dive into the mashed potatoes. How can you mess up mashed potatoes, right? Oh, they messed them up. They were NOT mashed potatoes made with potatoes. I moved on to the spinach. The "garlic spinach", was barely cooked, (still cold) & had zero garlic in them. Still starving, I move on to the "meat" loaf. The only reason this "meat" loaf resembled the brown color of meat was because of the burned "gravy" slathered on top. When I scraped the gravy off, the "meat" was a disgusting grayish color. It was definitely a "loaf" but not a loaf of meat. The description of this meal is "Mimi's Meatloaf" with a fancy description next to it that says "Classique". A "Classique" loaf of gray mystery s#@t. My husbands meal was equally terrible. His French dip was supposed to be on a "toasted baguette". It was not toasted at all. Had it been toasted it might have somewhat disguised the dry, stale bread. There was hardly any meat on the sandwich & the meat that was on it was dry & tasted "off". My husband also ordered a piece of cheese cake. The picture of the cheese cake showed a drizzle of strawberry sauce & strawberries served on the cheese cake. I guess for $8.00 all you get is a plain 3 inch long and 1 1/2 inch wide, TEENIE, piece of cheese cake. No berries, no sauce. Oh, one more thing. Even though my husband clearly ordered balsamic salad dressing, he was given Caesar dressing, which he despises. The quality of this meal (or lack there of) was appalling. After spending $60.00 on this dinner & not being able to eat any of it, we'll NEVER eat here again. Thoroughly disgusted!!! read more

I've had a bad experience prior at a different location many, many years ago, but with the current menu today has been a fantastic meal. A chipotle breakfast burrito, pumpkin spice latte with a shot of Kahlua, and a wild berry mimosa have settled *very* nicely into my belly. My mom had the liver and onions--a favorite of hers she orders just about whenever she finds it on a menu--and was also very satisfied. I highly recommend this place as it's one of few where almost everything on the menu sounds appetizing. Our server was attentive despite also tending the bar for the entire restaurant. Parking is plentiful. I will be back and I'll be bringing my daughters next time. Come on down, stop on by; your taste buds will thank you. read more

WOW! A few years ago this was y favorite place to go for a wonderful Asian chicken salad, but today it was not the same. A smaller portion, hardly any chicken and had to ask for more dressing because it tasted bland. The service was slow, when it finally arrived it was basically a bowl of iceberg lettuce! But the worst part was as I decided to quit trying to eat it I found a small piece of chicken with teeth marks on it, someone had taken a bite out of it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also, they used to give you a muffin with your salad, but not anymore. Why do so many places cut the portions, not make the same quality food and raise the price? Best thing about our experience today was our server, Johanna. Especially since our initial encounter with being seated was rocky. The wait was long 45 minutes so we wanted to sit at the bar. For whatever reason this wasn't acceptable to the manager. Not just for us, another couple came in and since they weren't seating at the bar they left! Moving forward, our server was quick to acknowledge us, take our beverage order and brought bread as she heard me say I was starving! The food was wonderful! Thought we'd give them another chance today, and it was the worst dining experience I've ever had. The Manager had such a terrible attitude, and didn't even give us an estimated waiting time. We came in during the day when it was pretty much a ghost town. I thought that we would have a better experience because we were one of the only groups there. However, this was not the case. They could have seated us anywhere they wanted to, but they chose to seat us in the one booth with a huge hole in the bench. It was embarrassing that there was a hole that hadn't been fixed and even more embarrassing that they seated us in this booth! Anyway, I wasn't crazy about the meal I had either. It was just kind of mediocre. This was the first time I had eaten anything but breakfast at Mimi's. I think I am going to keep them as only a breakfast restaurant if I do decide to return. I haven't written a review in years. What compels me to write one now? I stay in Murray when in SLC for business, and Mimi's is right next to my hotel, there is not a glut of good restaurants in SLC, and especially not in Murray. As such, I have eaten here three times. The decor a horrible blend of quasi-French looking artifacts and standard TGIF random things glued to the wall. I'm guessing a brand manager from Utah that has never been to Europe was given a credit card and told to go nuts at TJ Maxx. Mimi's is the very definition of mediocre. The bread is mediocre, the ambiance is mediocre, the music is mediocre, the wine is mediocre, the service is mediocre, and most importantly, the food is mediocre. If you are stuck in Murray and Tea Rose Diner isn't open (Monday night... grrr...), you can eat at Mimi's, knowing you will be served a plate of food that will not make you sick. The portions are large, the pricing is reasonable. This is all I will ever have to say about Mimi's Cafe in Murray, Utah. read more

One of my worst restaurant experiences. Ever. Arrived here at 11:45 and left at 1:20. It was a long and horrible experience. We were seated right away and the place filled up rather quickly. Our waiter, Demetrio, brought us drinks and took our order including an appetizer. That's when the waiting began. We waited and waited for our food. As we waited, I noticed one other couple get up and leave. They had been seated but never saw a server. The four people at the table behind us were waiting so long they got their food to go. I overheard them talking about how crappy this was. It gets worse. When Demetrio finally reappeared, he said our food was coming right up. One of my friends said "didn't we have an appetizer?" Demetrio says oh yeah and brought it right out. It was obviously under the heat lamp a long time. The plate was hot but the spinach artichoke dip was luke warm at best. Not good at all. Then our lunches came out. First, just two were brought out and one was wrong. It had a salad instead of fries. And there was no dressing for either of the two salads that came out. Then two more dishes came out. One was minus the fries (it was a mix and match). Then mine came out. I had the mix and match with the West Coast Ruben and French Onion Soup. He forgot the spoon for the soup. Finally the last order was out. Again, no spoon for the soup. And no fries. He finally brought fries out for two of the four of us who were owed fries. And they sucked. Limp, soggy and greasy. I ate two. AND, he never brought drink refills although we asked several times. My friend who had the grilled cheese sandwich didn't even eat it. I will say my French Onion soup was good. During the entire hour and half we were there we never got a drink refill. None. At all. Also, people who came in after us got their food, ate it and left before we even got ours. It was the most ridiculous thing ever. When we got our ticket, we waited forever to have him come back and run the card. My friend had to ask another lady and she was unapologetic about our whole experience. We finally had the manager Raul swipe his manager card so we could get the hell out of there. And, while this was happening, another couple was leaving because they waited too long. Mimi's you need to get your shit together. There were 6 in our party and none of us will ever be returning. The rude lady said they had 4 people who called out sick and I did see Raul running his ass off trying to get orders out. But this is no excuse for Demetrio failing to keep us informed on where our food was or refilling our drinks, forgetting our appetizer and getting orders wrong or failing to bring spoons or fries. Mimis seems to be following a disturbing trend in chain restaurants.... This trend includes reducing portion size and jacking up prices. True you get free bread/muffins (if you ask), but when I'm paying upwards of $15 a plate for a standard American meal, I would hope that it would come with a dinner salad.... But not here. If you want a salad, then you need to pay extra. By the time you are done here you are looking at more like $20 a person for a full meal, and I'm sorry... The quality of food does not merit the cost. Don't get me wrong, the food is a step up from Dennys, but not to the extent that they are charging. Now let's talk about the service. I really feel bad for the servers because I don't think it is their fault that the kitchen is dragging it's feet. I also think we came during a shift change so our server was a little distracted. Overall, friendly though, and I feel like he tried to make our experience positive. But seriously... We both left hungry. For what you are paying, the portion sizes are unacceptable. If you want to do smaller portions then that is totally cool, but charge accordingly. This is a prime example of why we avoid chain restaurants for the most part, they have lost touch with serving their customers. read more

Even with them not being busy, we waited about 40 minutes for our food and then our waitress never apologized for the wait. She brought us "some bread" after 20 minutes but only gave us one breadstick when there were 2 of us. My food was burnt and I could tell it had been sitting for a while and re-heated. (The entire plate was hot and the noodles were dried out). The pasta was supposed to have pulled chicken but had slices of grilled chicken instead... My fiance's French Dip sandwich was soggy and his salad came with the wrong dressing. me and my family went here because we were starving after the tree lighting, there weren't many people there, (about 2 or 3 parties and not big) took about 30 minutes to get us seated, started off with some drinks, then a party of about 8 walks in, orders their drinks, then there food, we waited about 30 minutes to get drinks and yet, didn't get mine, we kept reminding our waitress about the drink, took around another 30-40 minutes to get our food ordered, once we ordered our food, about 35-50 minutes pass, the party of 8 leaves, and yet, I still have no drink, we were almost In front of the kitchen, what do we see the cooks doing, nothing, just talking to each other, so not only am I thirsty, but also starving, we wated around a mother 30 minutes before we just got up and left, we didn't even hesitate, just walked out. A friend and I popped in for lunch today. They have a great lunch deal - Cup of soup or salad, with a half sandwich. 2 salads, 4 soups, and 5 sandwiches to choose from. $8.50 - and they promise to have it delivered in 15 minutes (or it's free). I chose the French Onion Soup, and the Grilled Cheese Five Ways, it's cheddar, jack, Swiss and mozzarella on grilled garlic parmesan sourdough. The French Onion Soup is absolutely delicious, and the grilled cheese was superb! What a great way to grab a quick lunch with friends, and not break the bank! read more

What happened to Mimi's Cafe. This place used to have some of the best food and service around. I remember when I would go out for Morning Brunch and you would have to wait 40 minutes for a table. But it was worth it, because the food was worth it. Now you can walk right in and get seated. Remember the Good ol'days where you got a small glass of juice, and a muffin with your breakfast? Remember when they would bring the little basket of bread to your table? I do, but now those things are days of the past. I remember when you ordered milk it was free refills. Not any more. I remember when the corn chowder was good. You craved it you wanted it. Now if tastes like it comes from a can or worse is reused over and over days old. Today, my husband and I went for Breakfast. We paid $20.00 for Steak and Eggs Breakfast. No glass of juice, no muffin. We got what looked like an 8oz Steak, two eggs, and potatoes that were not like the old day's Mimi's potatoes. It was actually quite depressing. I ordered a side of fruit, never got it. But I remember when you got a strawberry, blueberries, and honeydew melon for your side of fruit. Now you get 6 Grapes, a piece of cantaloupe and two slices of Orange that used to be your Garnish on your plate. I am not kidding, I remember when the garnish on my plate was butter lettuce with a slice of orange and a cherry or something similar. Needless to say, Mimi's used to be great, It was a great experience and a chain restaurant that took care of its customers. Now it is a corporate run, hell hole. It is no better than Village Inn or Denny's. So if you are thinking of coming to Mimi's save the money go across the parking lot to the IHOP you will get better service and more for your money. This is our last time eating at Mimi's Cafe. And if the trend continues like it has across the country this location will be closed soon just like others. Because the Quality of the food has gone down, the Prices have gone up and you do not get what you used to get. Someone in Upper Management turned this restaurant chain into a downward spiral. Stopped in for dinner on a Friday night and was surprised to arrive to no wait, alright that's either good service or bad food. Well the service was good all night so I'll chalk it up to that. I had the clam chowder and it was pretty good. Nothing like what you would get on the coast but hey it's understandable. My wife got some chicken & spaghetti dinner that was fairly good. This place is alright, nothing to write home about. Now what I'd really like to talk about: the bathroom. It was clean and stench-free so don't think I'm about to go down that road. No I'd like to forewarn you about their nefarious sinks. Two things are going to happen when you use them. First, you're going to scald your hands before you realize that the hot water has only two settings: off or magma-esque heat. Second, when you finally decide to just turn off the hot water and put your hands in, the low basin height will cause the water to splash straight into your crotch. Waitress was super nice but her service had a lot to be desired. :( My husband ordered pot roast and a salad. Hmm..the main course came but we had to chase her down to get the salad. We had a wonderful experience here at Mimi's. We celebrated my grandmother's birthday, obviously, it was a great choice. We were warmly and professionally greeted by Christanne and quickly was shown to our table. Shortly after, Steph came by and was incredibly attentive and efficient. I had the Breakfast Tacos (sorry I can't remember the actual name) but they were incredible and a flawless portion size. The house made blueberry muffin was to die for. Mimi's Cafe is a cute restaurant that is nicely decorated and well staffed. I've eaten at this location at least a dozen times and I've always had great service. I used to really like Mimi's food but over time either my tastes have changed or their food has. Maybe both... I don't know. Their food is very fatty and oily -- which tends to wreck havoc on my stomach for some reason. My friends and I went for an early dinner and were incredibly disappointed. We didn't get any bread till we had been sitting for about 20 minutes and when it did come it was cold. I've never been to a restaurant that serves cold rolls. When our entrees came it was more disappointment. I ordered the French dip with a side salad and the salad was horribly wilted, having been served on the hot plate next to the sandwich. The roast beef in the sandwich tasted like it had been sitting in a freezer for a month before it was pulled out, dipped in jus, and served. I couldn't finish it and my friend offered to switch me for his fish and chips which he wasn't very pleased with. I could see why as the fish was very oily and really overcooked, I couldn't finish that either. The only thing that was even decent was my husband's steak, altogether a horrible experience with the food. read more

We did not have a good experience here today. We were visiting a family member in the hospital near by and needed to stop for some food. It looked like a cute homey restaurant so we thought we'd give it a try. Needless to say, we did not have a cute and homey experience. Our waitress was grumpy, didn't make eye contact. She didn't stay on top of refills for our drinks. We were often thirsty and waiting 5 or so minutes for drinks. (Mind you, she only had one other table there with us and was just standing around majority of the time). Just a heads up, side salads or soup are not complimentary like most all restaurants. We were not informed before hand and it is written very small on the menu. The food was great in the end. A bit too pricey for the service we received. Overall, we wish the employees were more friendly and informative. read more
