Food was great! Service and ambiance was pleasant. Would go there again.

We were here on black Friday to have breakfast after months if not years of not coming to this location as I got food poisoning from a oriental salad once. We wanted to try it again. We ordered and all we got was coffee for 45 min. We waited and waited and people in front of us got their food before us. We asked the waitress and she said it was a table that ordered too much and the chefs weren't able to keep up with the orders. It was Black Friday and it made us late for our shopping and it ruined our breakfast. The food finally came and it wasn't good. The ham was dried and the omelette didn't have any flavor. Also the coffee was over $3 each. We paid $67 for a crappy breakfast with crappy service. We will never go back to Mimi's especially at this location. read more

After 45 minutes of waiting to be seated we had limited time to eat so we ordered when the waitress first introduced herself. Two bowls of soup and a couple of sandwiches. We waited at out table over an hour before our soups came out. After another half hour of patiently waiting as it was busy, we asked if they could box up our sandwiches and fries to go. Another 15 minutes later she brought our food boxed up and in a bag. She took my card to charge it and in the mean time we opened our boxes to eat few fries which were soggy and old. One sandwich was only a half instead of a whole and the other, which was supposed to be a rueben didn't look a thing like a rueben. It was obviously thrown together in a hurry on French bread instead of rye and was made with chicken and the smallest piece of ham you ever saw and Cole slaw instead of sour krout. The only thing on this "Reuben" that belonged on a Reuben was 1000 island dressing. The waitress was kind and gave us a free desert while we waited and put a couple of muffins in the bag as well. Obviously it wasn't her fault. She said another server gave one of our sandwiches away to someone else. We heard dishes being dropped and broken in the kitchen at least twice. We usually have a fairly good experience when we eat here but tonight was horrible. This place clearly can't handle things when it get busy. We were here for almost 2 and a half hours and I had to eat my half a French dip while I drove to where we needed to be. My wife was so full from eating bread while we waited she didn't touch her sandwich. This place needs to be put under new management. The Mimi's Cafe of yesteryear was magnificent!!! The accommodations were fine for our group of 30 for a Christmas Brunch. The waitress was very friendly and accommodating. However, it took two hours to get every ones meals served. The kitchen staff had an attitude that needs to be corrected. If you have a party of any size, that needs to be a priority on meal preparation and service. Not just do the smaller single orders first because its easier, and then make the group wait. While the food was tasty, sometimes it was cold and the last meal served was Mac N Cheese for one of the children at the two hour mark. When you have a reservation for a small group, MANAGEMENT needs to adjust the work schedule to have enough help to handle the work. Most everyone in our party had a negative experience and that's the same as 30 people expressing negative advertising for Mimi's Restaurant. I want to add that only one waitress was assigned to serve our group. She worked very hard to handle the party and we give her KUDOS and a good tip for her service. read more

I haven't been to Mimi's in a long time, but I was impressed. The server was good and never let our drinks run out and handled other issues quickly and efficiently. The restaurant was clean and adequately staffed. The food was very good and the prices were right. This place reminds me of Marie Callendars, only better, not as pricey, but the quality is there.I am impressed, we will return soon. read more

I love Mimi's! Before I saw their grill cheese on Food Network I wouldn't have cared if I ever ate there again. The other dishes that I have had are OK, but the grill cheese is absolutely amazing. The portions are pretty big, and I usually end up bringing half of my sandwich home. They use either 5 or 7 different cheeses (I'm pretty sure it's 7) for the grill cheese. The cheese is just short of overwhelming. The best part about it though is the bread! They spread a Parmesan spread over the bread instead of butter before they put it in the pan, so the crunch is cheese flavored. I'm a complete grill cheese snob, but Mimi's blew me away. read more

I've been going to Mimi's Cafe in Denver since I was in middle school, I'm 25 now so do the math. Anyways! It's always been really good! A great go to after church or to meet family or friends and the food was fresh and delicious. We went recently to this location as I have relocated to SLC and I was monumentally disappointed. My husband kept saying "that place sucks it's gross." And I loyally defended Mimi's honor. Boy did I get "I told you so" over and over again. It was pretty f*cking gross. I had the French dip, pretty sure it was microwaved. In fact I'm positive it was. The plate was molten lava hot and the food was about room temperature. The au ju tasted like water. All around gross. My husband had the chicken pot pie which tasted strangely sour? Idk it was just bad. We had the three dessert thing. We didn't even eat it. And we are fatties that covet desserts . If I could rate below of a 1 I would have but I can't. That said I was at Mimi's café in Murray, Utah on state st and 5300 South on Saturday the 22nd with Family as every year my family (extended) has a early Christmas party. So I know how things go and I have been doing this with my family for 20 yrs at other resturaunts who DEAL with Groups of 25 or more better than Mimi's does apparently. That is where I will start.... Our family had previously called and reserved a room for our get together - Mind you that it's a party we all look forward to ALL year. We were told that we could have the room to ourselves as in a private setting. So imagine our surprise when we get there and we find that other's were sitting in there as well. We come and get told by Mimi's (Yeah they changed their minds on us) and said "oh since you don't have 40 in your party we have to seat other's In here as well." NOT WHAT WE WERE TOLD! and what a way for a private party. That is not even the MAIN ISSUE although it is one ISSUE but, not the main issue. The Main issue is among other things not only we were told we could have the room to ourselves but, then did not get that yet we got 2 tables. But, the real main issue is when we started to have orders placed and drink order's placed and the drink order's get placed fine and then the food orders start getting placed. AND AGAIN I have been in groups before and AT OTHER RESTURAUNTS and this has never happened anyhow all our orders get placed at the same time., there is 25 of us abt and magically all of everyone else get's their order's together or within a couple of minutes of eachother AND I GET MINE LAST it's almost like they didn't put in my order till I started mentioning I had never got my food. Everyone was at least 1/2 to 3/4 done with their meals and I still had not got mine yet. I had other relatives who could not stay long and they just ordered a couple of muffins and it even took them about 20 minutes or more to get a MUFFIN! are you serious? Then I finally get my food and I have a cousin who starts asking about refills AND KARI yes forgot to mention that KARI was especially GREAT!!! NOT!!!! Kari was nothing but rude, obnoxious, unprofessional, PUT OFF, Mift. Was not for the most part customer friendly at all. Anything she had to do she showed nothing but attitude about and if she had to say something more than once or whatever as their was a lot of us she whined and complained about it and acted like if she had to answer 1 more question she would JUST have a cornea about it. Or she would scream. So we only got the use of 2 tables and it was cramped as hell. And then she got to the point where it was time for her to be making money and she was tired of us using the table (the 2nd one) so she pushed and forced all of us (not literally) to the first table. And made a point of "I am going to need you to move so I can start seating other people to make money." So we did not get the use of the 2nd table for the whole time because she was worried more about money and tips than giving good service. Earlier when we would ask for refills she acted put off about that and was acting like she couldn't handle the job of a group and or didn't care or BOTH! and then as a after thought she asked us all as a group if there was anything they could have done to make all our experiences better (But, it wasn't because she really cared because if she cared she would have been giving good service and being more than willing to take care of us all the whole time. It was just to cover her "hide") Well I made the mistake of expressing that I was not satisfied and happy about the thought of me almost not getting my order and getting my order last. Because when I said that she was like "It's out of our control- we can't and won't be doing anything about it." "It's out of our control and we don't make the food the kitchen does.... blah blah blah - that is a crock that it is completely out of their control." and then makes a point several more times by saying "well when your not making any money (tips) for 2 hrs and to complain about something that we have no control over and the kitchen does- won't be doing anything about it. " and "what did you want me to do? hold up everyone else's orders just for you and so you can get your food ?" UM, never said that lady!!!! then she claimed earlier that there would not be complimentary bread because we were a group but, then a few minutes later here comes the bread. So INCONSISTENCY, UNPROFESSIONALISM, LACK OF CARING etc. and in every other way this was a horrible exp. won't be going there again or at least a VERY LONG TIME! they definitely need to do something about retraining their employees and making sure the customer experience is WHAT IT SHOULD BE. and taking care of the customer. I went to Mimi's on Saturday night and ordered an $18.00 steak dinner. I ordered it medium and received a VERY rare steak. I sent it back and when it came back to me, the outside was brown, but the inside was still VERY rare. I was no happy with it at all. My husband and I were in the SLC area for a ski trip (2/12/18) and stayed in an AirBnB not far from this cafe. We were looking for a good breakfast place our first morning before we headed up the mountain. After looking at reviews we decided to come here (there is one in St. Louis, MO where my husband was from and they like it). It opens at 7am and we arrived around 7:15 and waiting for probably 20 minutes before our waitress even noticed we were there and seated us. She wasn't really pleasant and just asked what we wanted to drink. She came back a few minutes later and asked "are you ready to order yet"? My husband had the breakfast burrito and I ordered 2 pancakes with a side of bacon. The pancakes were awful, they tasted like they came right out of a box and someone dumped way too much salt into the batter. My husband said the burrito was pretty bad also, as there were 2 half-melted pieces of sliced cheese on the top. The waitress seemed annoyed every time she came over to fill our water glasses or to bring more coffee. If we weren't on a time crunch to get skiing we probably would have left and gone somewhere else. I can say for sure that we will not come back to this place during future trips to SLC. We went here for the Salty Theater Show and we were sat 6 to a booth. It was WAY CROWDED and UNCOMFORTABLE. These tables were not meant to sit 6 people comfortably and this is OBVIOUS. In other words, as hosts they care little for the comfort of their guests. As for their service, it was fine under the conditions of dinner theater. We asked for vegetarian options and they have a 3 or 4 but they were not on the menu for the show. There are a ton of women coming to these shows--why wouldn't you put some light options, if not vegetarian on the special menu? The 1129 sandwich (can't remember the number) was not tasty. Obviously they are not into vegetarian cuisine--and with food like that, who would be? The Salty Theater was really fun. Mimi's Cafe was a flop. Unfortunately restaurants with good food don't need to bring in a great show to get customers so it's unlikely the Salty Theater will ever come to a better than mediocre restaurant. read more

Easter late lunch with my boyfriend and his madre. Our server was very friendly whenever she showed her face, which wasn't often. It took 15 minutes just to get the complimentary bread (which the quality and types have changed drastically for the worse over the years). They gave us a small set easter menu, with nothing appetizing to me. I asked if they were serving anything from the regular menu and she stated they were but it was very limited, I waited for her to elaborate but she didn't seem fond of deviating from the menu that was already on the table. In a pinch I occasionally eat Some seafood, but it is usually at a nicer place where I know quality is up to par. I daringly ordered french onion soup and the salmon w spinach and potatoes and a supposed chardonnay mustard sauce. My bf ordered french onion as well, when our soups came out they were extremely different, such inconsistent portions, my little cup was barely half full while my guys was brimming over the top and loaded with lots of cheese. When my plate arrived nearly 40 minutes later! The salmon had charred edges all over it, like charred to coal black ash. Dry salmon is not appetizing, it was on top of very bitter wilted spinach it was actually gross and I love spinach. On the right side of my plate was a watery puddle of that dijon sauce, it had a mysterious dark brown gelatinous goo mound right in the middle of the puddle. I honestly was revolted because I still have no idea what it was, boiled chicken skin? A filmy paste from old gravy? Cinnamon butter? Turkey fat? It really made me lose my appetite. I picked around the charred salmon and felt bad for the fish that had given up its life to be sustenance but turn out inedible. My sweetheart ordered ham and consumed most of it. They forgot the gravy for his mashed potatoes. He was also to get cornbread stuffing as a side which we thought they forgot, but after moving a small piece of ham he found the tiniest tablespoon amount of stuffing, I'm not even exaggerating. If they were running out they should have told his mother and him. His mother ordered the turkey, from what she said it was really dry. And it was the same story with her stuffing. So weird and NOT worth 17 dollars! Dessert was a sad story too, they didn't nuke the bread pudding long enough and taking a bite of half warm half chilled bread pudding with oily dairy whip on top was the end of our meal. I don't know what happened to mimis, and I don't know if its just this location but it has certainly gone down hill. The staff was unprofessional, we could hear them gossiping and whining about how the manager promised them pizza but never followed through. Then later heard giddy demands on what pizza toppings they wanted. There was no hostess and people who walked in would just have to be lucky enough to catch the eye of a passing server. During our visit I saw two to go orders come back in a few minutes later because the orders were completely wrong or missing an entire component of the meal. How shady. I will probably avoid this location from now on. 1.5 stars. read more

So my hubby and I have loved coming here in the past but more recently this place turned into terrible food! I ordered the mac and cheese for a $14 place it came out like it was microwaved. cold in come places, hot in others. it was watery and the chicken was undercooked and pink!!!! My husband got the roast with mash potatoes. also an expensive plate with fake mashed potatoes and the food luke warm. like the meet was just sitting out all day. it was horrible!!!! I have never in my life wrote a bad review ever! and my husband and I eat out often. This place was a go to comfort food back in the day for us and now, not so much. I was told management changed and the cooks are lazy now, I am not sure what happened but this is so bad this is something I would only see on Gordon Ramsay. So terrible. The food was bland, lukewarm and utterly unimaginative lacking even pepper or salt. My side "fruit bowl" consisted of three orange slices and four red grapes. My Wife and I had not been to Mimi's for years. We knew that things would change, but didn't realize how bad. I forgot to bring my phone so I didn't check out Yelp first, that was a mistake that I don't intend to make again. If I could give a negative star rating, I would! Our server, Twila, at first was friendly, but then went down hill quickly! My wife ordered an omelet, which she asked to be cooked "well done"...it came out runny and undercooked. She sent it back and asked for it to be cooked longer. It came back out the same. She had also asked for "dry toast", it came out buttered. My eggs came out scrambled, I asked for "over medium". The rest of my food was cold. My wife then told the server that she'd like something else, at which point the server said "ok" and came back sometime later with a cold bowl of oatmeal. We ate our food, and waited for our server to return with the check. We waited for over ten to fifteen minutes AFTER we had finished our meal, and still no check. We finally went to the hostess desk and asked for a manager. He came out and was rude to say the least. He never once apologize for the poor service and undercooked/cold food. Had a great trip the first time with our family. They were super great with the kids we Ended up leaving a 30$ tip! for but this last attempt makes me worried. We came in to have dinner. The restaurant wasn't too busy but we waited 15 minutes for a table for 7, they claim they are cleaning the table but there weren't anybody cleaning the tables in sight. I am usually a big fan of their breakfast. We would go there almost every time we went out for breakfast. So I thought I would plan our mothers day morning there. So I called early in the morning 8 am, to make a reservation and the lady on the phone told me only the manager could do that, so she put me on hold. Then she got back on and told me that they don't take reservations. So we showed at at 9:30 and there were plenty of open tables big enough for our party of 8 visible and clean. But although the smaller parties in front of me were being seated immediately, I was asked to wait so I did. An hour later it was obvious larger parties then ours were being seated before us. The other patrons told me they had made reservations... so when I asked the Host, Predro, he said you were only able to make a reservation a week in advance. He also told me we had 15-20 min left to wait. So I sat back down. 15 min later I went back just to get an estimate and had to wait behind a party who had made their reservations the DAY before and they were having trouble finding them... When it was my turn I explained that I had two diabetic's in my party and it was really a heath hazard for them to wait without food any longer. So he told me we had 4 other parties ahead of us and that I should go somewhere else. It was really quite unbelievable how horrible his service was. Hopefully he was just new and didn't know what he was doing because he never even wrote my name on the list, just one the podium. I saw because he couldn't spell my name and I had to help him out. I really don't know if we will go back for a long time, if ever to this location. I really would not recommend wasting your time to wait 1 hour and 15 min for a place that wont even serve you. read more

Mimi's café is a quaint French themed chain with a homey and slightly authentic feel. This is not your typical American chain diner with a rushed in and out mentality. True to the French culture the dining experience is centered around family and fellowship rather than a 15 minute mad dash to scarf down your food and head on to the next thing. Expect to take your time, relax, and disconnect from the daily hustle over some fresh baked bread and the beverage of your choice. Our server was very polite and prompt in her service (Erika) and did a great job of making sure that we were ok. The food came out hot and fresh. The flavor made it well worth the wait, which was reasonable for fresh cooked food. I had the chipotle breakfast burrito and my wife had the French quarter. The blueberry muffins are out of this world, crisp crunchy top with a soft warm inside served with a side of butter, it doesn't get much better than this. I only give 4 stars because I have other French restaurants to compare this to and while it's great for what it is, Mimi's Cafe isn't the most authentic or best Cafe out there. This is our second time to this location and it is well worth the drive from Ogden to enjoy Mimi's Cafe. We will be back. read more

While the food was tasty, we were informed that a bread basket was provided only on demand. Huh? Incredibly slow service, meager portions (if there was an ounce of chicken in my chicken salad, I would be surprised. And I didn't think it would be practical to cook up less than a slice of bacon. My friend' place had a hunk of roast beef on it, barely dressed with gravy, making it quite dry. Slowest, uncoordinated service in this class of restaurant. Mimis has definitely gone downhill. OH MY HELL! I have NEVER been more upset with an eating establishment in my life! We made reservations for Thanksgiving day one month ahead of time. We had flight plans for later that day, leaving us plenty of time to eat then head to the airport. We arrived at Mimi's on time, only to find that there was a 45 to 50 minute wait time. There were so many people waiting, sitting and standing in the lobby and groups of people outside, I was told that all of these people had reservations as well. Clearly they over booked, times ten! We had to cancel our reservation because we would not have been able to leave in time for our flight. This completely ruined our Thanksgiving day! Mimi's café, in my mind, was only interested in bussing people in and out of there to get the most money, nothing but greed was on their mind, definitely not to serve the people and make a pleasant experience for their customers. Mimi's USED to have the best tasting french onion soup around. NOT ANYMORE! They changed the recipe, and its horrible now. Its watered down, and flavorless except for the overbearing taste of rosemary. I hate rosemary and couldn't even eat it. Several people at our table had issues with the food, either being too spicy ( shrimp pasta dish) or just dissatisfied (cowboy rub chicken). We will not return here again. read more

worst experience ever! served coffee with the creamer bowl in the top of my cup and submerged in my coffee...I told her about it and then we all of sudden had a new server which over the course of dinner informed us to never complain about food at a restaurant because the staff will do things to your food!!! I've been coming to Mimi's for quite some time and it is usually a quite pleasant experience. The food is usually good service fast and friendly, however i must say my last visit wasn't only my least favorite Mimi's visit but my least favorite visit at any restaurant. They were fairly busy and service was quite slow which i'm understanding i can see there busy, but food was cold and obviously sat in the window too long. I wanted to let our server know that we come quite frequently and that this particular visit wasn't our favorite in the hopes of a sincere apology, however the response from our server (Starla) was horrifying. She snapped at us about how many tables she was serving in the lodge and threw her strings of profanity and threats told us not to worry about tipping her... What happened to customer service and more importantly what happened to our cafe? needless to say we will sadly close the Mimi's chapter of our lunch breaks use cation when visiting. read more
