We ordered through DoorDash and when we received our food, my wife noticed something moving inside one of the boxes and upon checking closely we noticed 2 flies inside our egg omelette and 1 fly inside our eggs Benedict. Almost Like a Home Cooked meal!! During a stay last year in Racho Cucamonga I had the chance to try Mimi's Bistro. I was staying at the Best Western and was looking for someplace close to eat. The front desk at the hotel told me Mimi's was a local favourite. Mimi's is a very cool place, it has a very welcoming feel to it. I was greeted and seated quite fast, and my server recommended the signature soup the Tomato Basil. The soup is very flavourful with good consistency, I really enjoyed it. Since it was later in the evening, I was looking for a meal on the lighter side and decided on the Wood-Grilled Shrimp Brochette Skewers which came with steamed green beans. This was our first time here. I didn't know they were going to have an exclusive three course menu. The options included choice of soup or salad. Then six main courses and three options for dessert. I am gluten free and had a very limited selection to choose from. I had the French onion soup with out the bread, it was flavorful. My main coursework was roasted turkey with extra mashed potatoes no gravy or stuffing, which had no depth of flavor. For dessert I had a kids scoop of vanilla ice cream. My husband had a bowl of corn chowder and he liked it. He choose the French dip sandwich with fries and the Carmel Apple pie. He enjoyed his lunch. I have been going to Mimi's as a regular customer for years starting with the Upland location and now with Rancho Cucamonga after moving to the area. The food and the portions were better back in the day but are just ok now. The people who work there are friendly and provide excellent service which makes me want to keep coming back. The ambiance is nice, better than Coco's. I usually sit at the counter and like the granite top which you don't see at other places. Great food, positive energy and good friendly service abounded. Since new ownership I believe a couple years back, the menu has become far more modern and upscale for what I always thought mimis to offer. During holidays they do a great job with takeout Thanksgiving feast meals and the breakfast menu has the best lox Benedict anywhere. We came for dinner at 615p and was shocked to find the restaurant empty. Management must be having issues with hiring due to the pandemic because one of the Chefs sat us and even bussed our table at one point. We did have a fairly long wait before we ever saw a waitress to take our drink order or even ask if we wanted apps. Again, we were trying to be understanding given the nature of businesses right now. After about 20 minutes of waiting with hungry kids crying though, we grew impatient. Our waitress did come and take our order. We waited another 30-35 minutes for the food to come. The food was good. We were happy with the flavor and quality of it. Sadly, good food isn't always enough to keep customers. The service given to us by our waitress was terrible. Other tables she was waiting on were being helped, refills were given, napkins etc. While we just waited and searched for help...my husband actually had to get up and walk the restaurant to get a refill on the drinks. Thankfully a different waitress helped us out. We then proceeded to wait for our bill. 5 minutes before closing, our waitress magically manifested, giggling and laughing and tossed our check on the table and asked if we needed anything. What I needed was to walk out of the restaurant without paying because of how terrible her service was. I get it's the end of the shift and I don't doubt the food service industry has suffered. But to pay $70+ for a meal and have to hunt around for drinks and cutlery and the bill....I do expect some level of service. I wouldn't go back, even with the good flavored food. read more

We went for the Mother's Day brunch. We ordered appetizers then had the 3 course meal. Appetizers came out and with in 1 minute our salads came out. I had not even had one bite of the appetizers or salad before our entree came out. We didn't even have enough room On the table got the food and they told us to make room. Definitely not the old school Mimi's I'm used to from years and years ago. The only thing that seems to have stayed consistent are the delicious muffins. We came in for "breakfast" around 7pm, and I'm not sure if the night cooks just aren't breakfast connoisseurs, but I wasn't impressed with anything except the muffin. We ordered three different breakfast items, and honestly, Denny's would have been a way better choice. The food's texture was kinda off, and neither looked nor tasted as we expected. We were extremely hungry, too, so our expectations weren't really high: we just wanted good food. We were one of three parties in the entire restaurant, which got me thinking: "Maybe the food is better earlier in the day?" We stood at the host stand for several minutes and no one came out to greet up, even though we could hear the staff in the kitchen just chatting away. She said because they were ready to order and we werent, I asked her why did she assume we werent ready to order if she never asked us??? I proceeded to ask for a manager to complain to and the waitress told me theres was no manager on duty, that she was the only person working in the restaurant. Came to get cocktails with my girlfriends after we had lunch at another establishment, we saw they served espresso martinis,which were delicious. **DRINK RESPONSIBLY! DO NOT DRIVE IF YOU ARE GOING TO BE CONSUMING ALCOHOL** We knew we would have a couple of drinks so we chose to Uber for the evening. As we chose to order our last round of drinks, mind you we were on 3 drinks going into 4 in the span of 3 hours, a Gentleman who I believe was the manager, came to our table and informed us he will not be getting us anymore drinks because he didn't want us driving. To then I replied, "we Ubered", he then goes, "well either way we have a 2 DRINK POLICY per customer." Now I can respect polices and rules when they are disclosed and mentioned to us upon ordering our first alcoholic beverage. But what I can't understand is why does an establishment who serves alcoholic beverages let alone serve a MIMOSA FLIGHT (a 3 DRINK option) have such a ridiculous policy. So although the drinks were really good, it's not worth coming here if this "policy" is enforced. This location is very understaffed. I have been here three times in the month of June/July 2017 once for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Each time the wait was too long for how many people they were serving. At breakfast the other day it took 30 minutes to get seated ( there wasn't much of a crowd inside). We got our drinks within the first 5 minutes of sitting , but waited 30 min to give our order, waited another 35 for the food, and didn't get silverware until 5 minutes after we got the food . I sat at the bar the other night because there were only 3 servers on, including the manager. The servers were nice, just stressed. The breakdown: The service is friendly but super slow/understaffed Parking is easy in a large private lot Food is 5 stars- awesome French onion soup, meals, and pastries Bar- good house wine $5 a glass or $20 a bottle. Every time I visit a Mimi's Cafe, I feel like I am visiting an old friend. Each location has that feel to it and this one is no exception. But is that enough? My husband asked me tonight if I thought Mimi's Cafe was going to continue to make it in the tough restaurant business and I wish I had a more positive outlook. But while Mimi's food is decent and they place that decadent bread basket in front of you each time, if it weren't for the BOGO coupon we get in our e-mail inbox almost three times a week, I couldn't define its appeal. I never crave Mimi's and I have never had a friend or dinner mate suggest it as an option. It's always there when we need it, but is anyone ever really loyal to Miss Mimi? Tonights service was subpar as they were clearly understaffed. My drink rarely kept filled and the food was "meh" at most. Fortunately for the staff they were not too busy for a Friday night but evidently they were out of roasted chicken. Will we be back? It's likely as this is the closest location to us that has survived and my husband loves the carrot bread. But I hope they find a solid niche market and improve their service so that they can remain open long enough for us to come back. read more
