Chose Mimi's for breakfast today. The restaurant was not busy at all maybe three or four tables when we arrived about 9:30. Our waiter arrived promptly and served us coffee and water. We ordered the salmon eggs Benedict and the grand breakfast. Service was very fast, less than 10 minutes. The food was good but not super hot. kind of room temperature for the potatoes but everything was delicious. I believe prices in Reno are way too high. $33 for breakfast before tip seems excessive but it is the norm in town these days. No complaints except the food could be hotter. read more

Wow!!!! A $12.00 three inch burnt chicken sandwich with a handful of shoe string fries that were cold and greasy. I realize this is a DoorDash order and that temp is not always the restaurant's fault but portions definitely are. How can anyone in good conscious charge $12.00 for a 3 in sandwich? And as you can see in the picture I'm not lying I put a tape measure to it!!!! Plus the chicken was burnt for a second I thought it was a blackened Cajun sandwich. Once upon a time, this was a pretty good place to eat. Perhaps it still is. Perhaps we hit an "off day." First off, no hostess to seat anybody. Wait staff would break away from their duties to seat people. We had a long wait and almost left to go somewhere else. Wish we had.. First off, our waitress was amazing. I understand she had no part in the poor quality food we had received. I had ordered a chicken pot pie. On the outside, it was absolutely beautiful. On the inside, a different story. I love Mimi's dinner and lunch I've never had their breakfast so we decided to come try it since I've heard their eggs Benedict is delicious. We get seated instantly, we brought our dog so we sat outside and they didn't forget about us!! My sister got the berry crepes with eggs and bacon, my boyfriend got the classic eggs Benedict, and I got their egg white avocado croissant sandi with a side of fruit, all of it was delicious, all together with tip it was $74.67.... Not to bad. I know outdoor seating isn't very popular so I understand why the tables weren't clean but... our table was really dusty and had pollen all over it, I'm not a super nit picky person so it doesn't bother me but it might to other people. This review is for BREAKFAST. This is my 2nd visit. We ordered the same thing both times. A Tuscan Omelet and Bacon & Eggs. Both with muffins. The bran muffin here is a highly sweet delicious version...not the healthy version! Obviously we enjoyed it but he first time and were enjoying it this morning. The front of their menu promises "simply prepared, house-made American comfort food, with a French touch". I'd say that captures the menu fairly well...emphasis on COMFORT food! The food is delicious. So why not 5 stars? Well, the promise of comfort food is great, but usually we prefer to eat healthier. There really aren't many healthy choices here. Their muffins are so dang deliciously full of sugar that the concept of choosing buttered toast is beyond my minds ability to consider...BECAUSE most breakfasts come with a CHOICE of toast or muffin! SO YES I'm dinging them 1 star for not offering a strictly healthy breakfast option that doesn't include a muffin...and for skimpy portions for the price. They do offer an egg white and veggie omelet but it also includes the fried potatoes and a muffin! This breakfast is $22.71 with NO beverages. Plus tip, that's getting VERY pricy for us. One thing I think is GREAT is that all their menu items include calories! So it's possible to make informed decisions ! In reality, my bacon, egg, potato & muffin breakfast has already exceeded my normal daily calorie intake! But I'm an adult and I'm eating here by choice so I'm just going to go without food the rest of the day...hehehe...yeah right... So the calorie counts are already so high on these comfort foods, my next complaint seems ridiculous even to me... but for the PRICE here, the portions seem a little skimpy. I snapped these pics before we took a bite of anything except the muffins (which are brought early). It's as if the potatoes are spread out in an attempt to fill the plate! I should probably be glad. I don't need more calories of fried potatoes! And the tiny amount of butter that arrives with the muffin is probably reasonable since many people won't use it anyway? But if you love butter I highly recommend you order SEVERAL extras as soon as the muffin comes because if you ask for extra...they only bring ONE more! (I'm already so far over my calories today I also had them bring a tiny amount of maple syrup to pour over my already very sweet bran muffin!) It gives me the allusion of eating a waffle with my bacon! Speaking of bacon...it is DELICIOUS here! And they understand what extra crispy...not limp...means! So this is a wonderful place to treat ourselves to food we normally try to avoid (in favor of healthier choices). But sometimes ya just gotta enjoy delicious comfort food! We came here about 11:30am on a Sunday after receiving a BOGO coupon via email. It did not seem very busy inside. We saw about six or seven open tables from the lobby. They told us would be about 15 to 20 minutes. There were quite a few other parties waiting in the lobby, as well. We saw 2 or 3 hostesses standing by the hostess stand. This does not seem very efficient. They eventually seated us at of the open tables we saw when we came in and we were provided menus. We perused both the breakfast and lunch menus. My wife ordered the slow roasted turkey and I ordered the chicken Tillamook cheddar mac. Our entrees were delivered in a reasonable amount of time. They both looked and tasted very good. We did notice a few areas that needed some cleaning. The vent above the walkway bar booth look filthy. And the ledge next to our booth looked like it had splashed food or something else on it. If it had not been for the food and the attentiveness of our server, Alisa, we would probably be giving this place less than three stars. read more

Ate at Mimi's yesterday, ordered the baked chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy, and garlic spinach. The garlic spinach was great, it ended there. The unseasonably chicken was tough, still bleeding at the bone, and flavorless. The mashed potatoes came dry without gravey. Turkey gravy was later brought. I sent the meal back and ordered the chicken pot pie instead. Tasteless also and pathetic, no mashed potatoes and gravy, no side vegetables. Overpriced, bland, awful. The only experience I left with was extreme gas, luckily I had Tums in the car. The waitress was accommodating and nice Mimi's has really gone downhill since eating in one in the past. So it's been a while since we went to Mimis, and because I got the email about new items and the "pineapple upside down muffins" it was a done deal!! Or maybe Dumb done idea! They had some new summer appetizers and dishes, so I decide on the french fries topped with chopped bacon, chives and sour cream. Can't go wrong, they always have perfect fries! We have a nicer server (Aaron ). We order the chicken dinners, and I also mention we wanted the pineapple muffins to go. He comes back and says they only had one roasted chicken and that they were out.,, so fine, I let my hubby have it and I order the chicken parm... time goes by, 15 min or longer, and then he tells us to blame the other server ( that server took my husband's chicken)! So then the lady manager stops apologizes how there wasn't any chicken and that it would be 30 min. If I wanted it, that's when she didn't know the other server took my husband's. She offers to comp a dessert??? Needless to say we have never stayed in a restaurant that long! Honestly took at least 30 min. To get both our dinners. Sure they took some off? French toast - awesome! Super sweet very wonderful. Smoked Salmon Omelette - Wonderful flavor almost too salty. They over did the over medium eggs, they were so hard it was almost like having a flat hard boiled egg. That was brown and crusty. The service was decent but slow when we requested to have new eggs made. Oh and the muffins were perfection. One thing I didn't appreciate was the ketchup packets and salt packets. I know it's COVID season but I was very dissatisfied with the amount of ketchup packets provided. We had 5 people and they provided me 6 packets. We all had potatoes. Stopped for breakfast today. I will say upfront that Black Bear has them beat and there can be no comparison. Mimi's breakfast is rather ho hum. It's breakfast but nothing to write home about. The eggs over easy were ok, the fried potatoes were bland and without any flavor, the turkey sausage looked and tasted like it had been reheated. The banana chocolate chip muffin was moist and tasty, albeit not much banana flavor. It was the best part of breakfast. My husband surprised me with muffins from Mimi's. Note to self, in the future when purchasing "ToGo" muffins at Mimi's, check the product before you leave the restaurant. He bought 4 assorted muffins, 2 of which were fresh and tasty, but 2 of which were stale and likened to hockey pucks. No excuse for selling old, stale product Mimi's! I'm a sucker for a cute restaurant and a kids menu and Mimi's did not disappoint. Brought my grandma from out of town for breakfast and breakfast is what we got! I ordered the Pain Perdu with scrambled eggs and bacon. The French toast was filled to the brim with creamy sweetness and drenched (but not soggy!) in strawberry & blueberry deliciousness. My husband got the bacon, ham and sausage omelette with potatoes and toast. He demolished it. Super cheesy and they were generous with the meat. My son got the Mac and cheese which they admit is Kraft but the fries were crispy and delicious. We recently went here for a friends birthday last minute dinner. I had never been to Mimi's before and had no clue what cuisine they would offer. I was so pleasantly surprised! The menu is extensive with food for everyone, including pasta, salads, burgers, burrito, meatloaf, and all day breakfast! The menu is printed pretty small so some of the guests had difficulty reading the menu. Our service was great, the waiter was really on top of it. We all got pasta dishes and my husband got the meatloaf. They were able to make substitutions for folks no problem, although they were out of a pasta type that evening. I got the coastal shrimp pasta dish and it was very flavorful and tasty, it was a tad salty for my taste but otherwise really good. The main reasons why I am still a fan has to do with their Roasted Half Chicken and the coupons that they send out. If you sign up for the Mimi's newsletter, they will send you occasional Free Entree coupons. But you do need to make a purchase of one entree (not valid on their $10.99 lunch) and two non-alcoholic beverages. This has saved me a lot of money since they send these out quite often. Onto the food! I've gone here for dinner more often than breakfast and there is a difference in quality. I mentioned the Roasted Half Chicken, which is DIVINE! It is big, golden and juicy with just the right amount of crispiness. I usually pair it with potatoes au gratin, which are scalloped potatoes layered lasagna style with cream and cheese. A warning though, they might run out of this since they have a limited quantity. Call ahead. Their other dinner items, such as the sweet-glazed salmon is also another favorite, but not as special as the chicken in my opinion. For breakfast they have the usual fares of omelettes, benedicts, quiches etc. I've tried all three on different occasions, and they seem to lack flavor every time. Either there is little salt, not enough seasoning or the ingredients don't seem fresh. Other times they are decent. It is a gamble. I suggest going here once with a coupon handy just to give them a shot. It is a quaint little place that is typically quiet. I really love their smoked salmon benedict so my boyfriend and I will have breakfast here around once every other month. Any negatives here are directed to the manager. Support and properly manage your staff and available resources! EVERY time we visit we have waited at least 10 minutes or more for the hostess to arrive. On our most recent visit, the restaurant was not packed and the lobby only had two other people waiting to be seated (or possibly even greeted). You can see servers and staff working in the dining area just past the bar. I know they're busy but just a quick visit to the front to say "Hello" and "Someone will be right with you," would be a very simple improvement. Like other reviewers have stated, it is not welcoming when you don't receive the simplest of acknowledgements. Our server Kim was really nice and very apologetic for our wait. She was juggling many tables and it appeared she was bussing them too. Management - hellloooooooooo out there.... As for the food, we both like every breakfast we've ever had here. This location has SO much potential if only management would smooth out the host/hostess stand issues and the details of an efficient service. Decided to enjoy a post church Brunch with the family and headed to Mimi's hoping they wouldn't be overly crowded. While there were a few folks ahead of us the wait wasn't long and the hostess even brought out a cup of coffee for me while we waited. We were seated and greeted promptly be our server, I wish I could remember his name because he did a great job, checking on us regularly and was very friendly and engaging. The food was subpar, I didn't think the crepes and potatoes were very good and wished I would have ordered something else. My wife ordered the special griddle cakes and those were better and they also come with Eggs, toast and a meat side. The kids meal choices were pretty good and overall everything was reasonably priced. Our food took longer than expected but they brought out some fresh muffins to hold us over which was nice and the server checked on us several times to make sure we were ok. Overall I wouldn't come here expecting much (it is a chain) but it does the job and I think if you stick to something simple you won't be greatly disappointed. I will say I remembered the food being a lot better last time I came a few years back and was a little disappointed by the quality this time.
