What a delightful restaurant!! This was my first time here. The parking for this restaurant is abundant. I was greeted warmly and seated within a reasonable time. This quaint restaurant has such a wonderful vibe with very whimsical atmosphere. There is a nostalgic New Orleans and jazz theme art decorations with a touch of humor. Since I was there around 10:40 I asked my waitress for the lunch menu. I ended up talking to the waitress and discussing that I had time to wait. I decided on lunch and she let me know that I would need to wait for a short time. It was actually only about 10 minutes. How sweet of my waitress Laura to worry about my time. I ended up deciding on a cheese sandwich and French Onion soup. I was pleasantly surprised that my meal was cheaper as I only paid an additional $0.99 cents for the soup as it was in place of fries. Laura was so kind, attentive and personable. She also asked me if I had been to the restaurant before. I informed her that this was my first time. She pleasantly informed me that first time customers received two free muffins of my choice. I asked her what her favorite muffin was she said Blueberry. I decided on the blueberry. When we went in we were seated immediately. Kathy, the server, quickly informed us that they had only one cook and three servers working. Letting us know this from the start made a huge difference in our attitude. She took our drink order, and quickly retrieved our drinks. She realized without even being told that she had given one of our party a diet instead of regular Coke, and she fixed it without even being told about the mix-up. She tended to her guests who arrived before us, and then took our order. It wasn't much of a wait at all. Our order didn't take too long to arrive, even with only one cook. When my wife and I enter the establishment, it was colder inside then outside making it a bad first time experience for us. As we sat and waited for our breakfast, we can tell they never turned on the heater as my legs and thigh was getting colder to the point of shivering. Got the two egg platters over easy with corned beef hash, potatoes and toast, nothing special and potatoes was fried hoping it would be crispy on the outside but it wasn't and seems undercooked and oily. Arrived at work 40 minutes early. Options ? Walmart, McDonald's, 7-11, Einsteins bagels? With 40 minutes I decided to sit down and enjoy my time. Mimi's Cafe was opened and worthy of a try. There was no hostess but that didn't stop Lindsey from stepping into the role welcoming me. Lindsey showed me immediately to my table. Having had time to review the menu, I ordered eggs Benedict. 2 light and airy poached eggs atop a thick sliced piece of ham sat abed English muffins grilled in what tasted like a garlic infused butter topped with a velvety hollandaise. I'm a server as well and I would never treat someone the way she did us. I always tip, but this occasion I DIDNT. My Wife got one of their salmon dishes, which she liked but I had the waffles and chicken. Unfortunately-they left all the flavor out!! Not to impressed with the service or the quality of the food. I remember coming to Mimi's like ten years ago and it was always consistently good for having breakfast, brunch or lunch. The service was lacking. Our waitress never introduced herself. We waited along time to have our order placed and we had to ask continuously for the things that we ordered. My son asked for bread and had to ask repeatedly for it to be brought out. Our waitress was in such a rush that she threw our plates down on the table as if she were dealing a deck of cards. I know service is bad when my teens make a comment about the rudeness. My chicken crepe that I ordered was dry and not to thrilled with the tiny salad portion that came with my entree. DISGUSTING!!! Ordered via Door Dash and my Dasher was absolutely amazing. The issue is not with her. I ordered the Smoked Salmon Benedict with a side of sausage links. The entire meal was covered in so much salt that it was inedible. That is not even the worst part. The salmon was rancid and tasted like it had been sitting in the sun for three straight days. It was definitely rotten and should not have been served to anybody. I will not even feed it to my dogs. The sausage links tasted like they were out of a frozen Dollar Tree meal. Not only that, but the sausages were pink in the middle. My potatoes were sitting in a puddle of grease, also rendering them inedible. I'm super nauseated from just one bite. The staff was very friendly. The food was delicious. I prefer my stuffing on the softer side, and that's good for me, but it may be a bit soft and grainy for others. The corn chowder was DELISHES! Better half had a salad and shrimp skewers. Price is more $$$ than I would like, but the food is worth it once in a while. Mimi's has become one of my families favorite breakfast restaurants, and there are several reasons for this. Two weeks ago on a Saturday morning I had only a few minutes for breakfast prior to a flight, and they delivered. I was in and out in less than 30 minutes, and the breakfast was fantastic. Yesterday they met all the 'high maintenance' needs of my wife and I. We were attempting to get rid of every extra saturated gram of fat that we could and this restaurant makes it easy. They've got a light and fit section of the menu that really helps, and I had the five alarm veggie omelet with chipotle sauce. It was great, served with fruit, fresh squeezed juice and dry toast. I opted out of the toast for a low-fat blueberry muffin and it proved to be a great breakfast. My wife ordered a different omelet, and she had them make it with egg whites only. They had a can-do attitude, and our waitress was friendly, up-beat and very helpful. It might not matter to you, but the bathroom is always clean. In a nutshell, this will continue to be on our short list of good breakfast places in Reno. read more

At first you don't really know if it sounds like enough food, but it was perfect and didn't leave me hungry or overfilled. The muffins here are really tasty. It's a popular cafe and there always seems to be a wait but the food is worth it. I've had the quiche here before and really enjoyed that too. They have a kids menu that the kids can color and play games on. It keeps our 5 year old busy until the food comes. It has New Orleans style decor, which is very cluttered looking. I never put a bad review down but I have to say that one of my all time favorite restaurants was the worst place to spend Mother's Day. Had the pot roast and it came out like slop on a plate. It was bland and had mostly mushrooms and carrots. No meat chunks at all. My sons chicken Mac n cheese looked like soup and was hardly edible with no flavor. Our dessert the molten lava cake was cold and the chocolate was frozen on top. My son told the manager and he was less than kind and walked away while my son told him his disappointment. The worst part is we were charged over $70 for the meal we didn't eat. Not sure we will be back anytime soon. Our waitress was kind and we tipped her well. The service has always been wonderful. Prices are not bad (especially with a coupon) and they have not been crowded when we have had dinner or lunch, although I hear it gets crazy for weekend brunch. I know this is a corporate chain, so expectations should be in line with that. But this place was a bit much. On a Sunday night visit to Reno I was craving something sweet and options at the hotel weren't appealing. Nothing much available in quick walking distance. I guess Reno shuts down on Sunday nights? So we ordered their caramel apple pie with "scoop" of ice cream and bread pudding. What arrived was a slice of partially frozen pie about an inch and a half wide, it rattled around in the box like a lonely ice cube and was accompanied by one of the tiny plastic cups of ice cream that they put salsa in. That is, literally maybe a tablespoon and a half of ice cream. No exaggeration. Melted of course. For this lovely desert we paid over $12 before any delivery fees and tax. It might have been forgiven if it had been good. It was not. Sickly sweet and hardly any apple. The bread pudding was hard, overcooked, also extremely skimpy with sauce. It had a giant clump of raisins in it about 3 inches across. Guess the cook didn't feel like stirring. It was really just lousy amd it's kind of hard to wreck bread pudding. Perhaps this chain is alright in other places but this branch clearly doesn't care at all about the quality of their food or the satisfaction of customers. Overall charge of near $35. Never again. There's inflation, and there's outright corporate thievery. They should be ashamed of themselves. Pic has one bite taken. Rest will go in the trash. Bloody awful. read more

I can only review Mimi's Cafe based on the private dining/meeting space. I've been to many networking events all over the United States. Here in Reno there's a bit of a trend of large groups, ordering a la carte and getting separate checks. I am use to paying a fee that covers a basic breakfast. The menu for breakfast runs from healthy to glutinous. At these meetings I tend to go on the healthier and least messy option. Maybe it's just me but I find if I'm eating a messy meal with strangers, it'll wind up on my clothes. The food always hits the spot and my ice tea glass never seems to go below 1/2 filled. I'm just blown away by the service here. It's usually just one waitress. I've been in groups as small as 10 people and as large as 25. The waitress takes all the orders, separates the all checks, and never lets anyone's beverage go below half mast. WOW!
