This Mimi's has kind of dropped somewhat in the last several months. We liked to go here, and it was still good, but... it just wasn't as good. We had to ask for a basket of bread to be brought to our table, they used to bring it automatically. I had the Salmon grilled on a bed of rice and vegetables and it was good. The waitress was alone in the dining room and was very busy, but the service seems to have gone down some. We will try again soon and see if they just had an off evening. read more

Sadly, this place has gone downhill. Was not even acknowledged after standing at the front entrance for close to 5 minutes. As a woman continued at the bar counting her receipts. When I asked to be seated, she barely looked up and said "Give me a minute, Miss." We did not feel very welcome. Then they got my order wrong. Food was mediocre. Waited 15 minutes I then walked to a worker and asked if I could get my order taken, waited another 15 minutes and order was never taken so we walked out it was around 7:20 pm at that point because if I would to have ordered we probably would have been the last people in there. read more

My wife and I had lunch at Mimi's - we each had the French Pot Roast dinner. It consists of mashed potatoes covered by well cooked pot roast in a meat gravy with carrots, mushrooms and onions. It was quite good and the quantity was adequate - we even took some of it home. Daniel, our waiter, was quite good. He greeted us quickly, took our order immediately, and checked back with us after it was delivered. All good and recommended. read more

We came here for breakfast and were so happy to see that Mimi's Cafe was still serving delicious food. My mom and I used to come here all the time when I was a kid and I remember that I would get a kids dessert of worms in dirt. Food was really good and service was excellent. One of my friends really likes Mimi's so we meet up here a couple of times a year. Try as I might, I just don't love this place. We met up here again recently for dinner and it was just okay. It took about 10 minutes to get our drinks after we were seated (my order was for water) and then it took another 30 minutes before our order was finally taken. The waitress apologized for the delay and explained she was the only one there. I didn't hold it against her, but it was a frustrating start to the evening. Once our order was taken, the food came out in a timely manner. My dinner order was meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and green beans. I normally love most every meatloaf I've ever had until this dinner. While the veggies were not exceptional, they were at least okay, but the meatloaf was the most dense and tough chunk of ground beef I've ever had. I actually had to use a knife to cut up the meatloaf which was a first for me. I was able to get half way through it before I finally gave up. My water was never refilled either which I sure could have used after dealing with that meatloaf. The meals I've had here in the past were all just okay too. I've had pasta, fish and chips, burgers, and breakfasts and there's really been no standout meal. My friends are special to me so if it means eating at Mimi's once or twice a year, I'll do it, but otherwise I know I wouldn't go out of my way to return for food and service that's "just okay". read more

Ordered for delivery: meatloaf with au gratin potatoes & broccoli. A dismal excuse for meatloaf. It was actually crunchy and hard around the edges and the rest of it was not much better. Like eating a hockey puck. It was absolutely covered with gravy that might as well been the contents and of a whole container of salt - absolutely disgusting and inedible. I suspect it was dumped on just to cover up the horrible meatloaf. Au grain potatoes was basically a sticky lump of slivered potatoes covered in oil - not cheesy at all, just plain oily with no flavor at all. The best and only truly edible part was the steamed broccoli. A frozen grocery store meatloaf would have been more satisfying. The only saving grace besides the broccoli was the carrot muffin I ordered on the side. read more

We love this Mimi's for dinner. We had breakfast there today with subpar service. We sat at table 112/1 at 09:23. It took 4 tries to get my husbands order correct. Then the bill was wrong twice. My husband just left a low tip (which he never does) to let our server know. read more

I am disappointed to say I would not recommend coming to this location. I love going to Mimi's Cafe and have never had an issue with service until today. I came here for breakfast with my mom who speaks mostly Spanish. We heard the waitress speaking Spanish to the other staff members so when she came to take our order my mom started asking her questions, the waitress was rude and condescending refusing to help her in Spanish. We are not upset that she allegedly didn't speak Spanish (even after we heard her speak it) or ever expect for any restaurant to accommodate us in a different language. We do however expect to be treated with respect and common decency regardless of the language we speak or our ethnicity. I hope this issue gets addressed, no family should have to feel this way. read more

Plans fell thru so we thought instead of cooking Thanksgiving dinner at home we would try and get in somewhere. Almost everyone was booked but Mimi's was still available, score! I booked a table of 4 for 6:30. I tried not to let all these sad marginal Yelp reviews dissuade me, I have after all eaten here many times and actually had their turkey dinner before and it was quite good.....big mistake. The good part is we were seated close to 6:30 even though there were all sorts of people waiting. Our server, although frazzled and tired, was nice enough. The meal was basically hospital cafeteria quality, scratch that....I work in a hospital and the food is much better there. The turkey was acceptable but the stuffing (a spoonful hidden underneath) was tasteless and soggy. The potatoes and yams, just passable, and what they actually had the nerve to call green bean casserole was just canned green beans drowning in a sea of mushroom soup..in fact the whole plate was covered in this soup. The pie, choices..well they ran out of pecan so pumpkin was our choice was not Mimi quality at all. Couple of bites and we were done What a disappointment this whole meal was...never again read more

TOTAL FAILURE.... It is unfortunate to see one of my long time favorite local coffee shops deteriorate to such a poor & unsanitary condition with subpar customer service. It seems the corporation that owns this Mimi's café DOES NOT CARE and DOES NOT give a damn about how dirty and worn out the restaurant furniture and fixtures have become. The Quality of their food is NO LONGER there. You can see the dirty kitchen and rundown old appliances, Dirty and moldy bathrooms that are NOT ADA compliant. Tables and seat covers that are still torn after several months in the same condition, silver ware that does not match and is old and bent, servers who don't make enough tips, don't care about customer service... It seem that this location is on the same path as the one in Costa Mesa and will be closing just like the one in Costa Mesa..... Hopefully, someone else will open up a nice and clean coffee shop in it's place for the local patrons. read more

A few years ago before they changed partners the food was always good and a favorite gathering place with friends or family The onion soup was really bad . They replaced the usual broth with some thickened stuff and extremely salty. My nephew ordered shrimp pasta and there was only 4 miserable shrimps. The pasta was over cooked and only 4 tablespoons. When he got home he immediately made himself a cup of noodles What is the point going to a restaurant then come home and eat .
