I like Mimi's Cafe for breakfast, but this place gets demoted a star because I thought the service was slow and the hostesses didn't even bother to smile when we walked through the front door. Umm, get another profession thank you very much if you can't greet and meet like you're supposed to. The coffee is average, I could probably make a better brew at home, but you do get free refills. Ordered 2 eggs and 2 sausages from the breakfast menu. Got the eggs scrambled and they were okay, nothing special there. The orange juice was smooth and didn't have pulp (I love pulp - this OJ definitely wasn't homesqueezed). Oatmeal here is good - thick and creamy... I like to top it with bananas (too bad it's $1.50 more). Great homemade muffins hot from the oven though! Probably the best thing at this place~ Spend your $12-15 elsewhere if you plan on coming here for lunch or dinner. This place is ALWAYS packed! The complimentary bread here is heavenly... I could literally eat the whole basket, with each piece smothered in whipped creamy butter. Moving on; growing up around the area, we often would visit this Mimi's location when the family was in town. Great for groups, but the downside to that is that it is always packed. Be prepared to at least wait an hour to be seated... you have been warned. It's kinda the place to go to if you don't feel like dining at Dennys which is down the street... more expensive here, but it's definitely a nicer joint! The service here is always pretty good. Kinda dark inside which I like, more of an intimate feel. Lots of seating options too. It was crazy here at noon with working people and little kiddie's birthday party but my coworkers and I waited for only a short while before we got seated. Service was super duper good. Our waitress was extremely nice and checked up on us a lot even though it was busy. She kept calling me mam even though I prefer miss, but that's minor. I ordered the artichoke brie dip/fondue with garlic bread. Goodness, that was delicious. I shared with my coworkers and they liked it so much they dipped it with the fries or chips sides that came with their sandwiches. I also had a cup of tomato & basil bisque. TOTAL FAILURE.... It is unfortunate to see one of my long time favorite local coffee shops deteriorate to such a poor & unsanitary condition with subpar customer service. It seems the corporation that owns this Mimi's café DOES NOT CARE and DOES NOT give a damn about how dirty and worn out the restaurant furniture and fixtures have become. The Quality of their food is NO LONGER there. You can see the dirty kitchen and rundown old appliances, Dirty and moldy bathrooms that are NOT ADA compliant. Tables and seat covers that are still torn after several months in the same condition, silver ware that does not match and is old and bent, servers who don't make enough tips, don't care about customer service... It seem that this location is on the same path as the one in Costa Mesa and will be closing just like the one in Costa Mesa..... Hopefully, someone else will open up a nice and clean coffee shop in it's place for the local patrons. read more

Ordered for delivery: meatloaf with au gratin potatoes & broccoli. A dismal excuse for meatloaf. It was actually crunchy and hard around the edges and the rest of it was not much better. Like eating a hockey puck. It was absolutely covered with gravy that might as well been the contents and of a whole container of salt - absolutely disgusting and inedible. I suspect it was dumped on just to cover up the horrible meatloaf. Au grain potatoes was basically a sticky lump of slivered potatoes covered in oil - not cheesy at all, just plain oily with no flavor at all. The best and only truly edible part was the steamed broccoli. A frozen grocery store meatloaf would have been more satisfying. This is one of the worst restaurant that I have been. A few years ago before they changed partners the food was always good and a favorite gathering place with friends or family The onion soup was really bad . They replaced the usual broth with some thickened stuff and extremely salty. My nephew ordered shrimp pasta and there was only 4 miserable shrimps. The pasta was over cooked and only 4 tablespoons. When he got home he immediately made himself a cup of noodles What is the point going to a restaurant then come home and eat . Yes I'm giving Mimi's Café a 4 stars and here's why... I used to be in love with Mimi's Café but somewhere along the way they got caught up in trying to be something their not and went all French on me -_- When I was kid, I remember Mimis being about good comfort food, fresh baked bread baskins, and oreo dirt sundaes! Now they've switched it up 360 degrees and took all the good food they were known for and replaced it with "French type" food. I vowed I would never step foot in a Mimi's unless they brought back some of their classics! Somehow my mom gets coupons in her email from Mimi's and I decided to give them one more try last night instead of my usual go to spot Dennys, I do like that they stay open until 10PM unlike Panera Bread who closes at 8PM on a Sunday, really? -_- We came in around 9ish and was seated immediately, I love going to dinner and not having to deal with any type of a CF! Our server was very attentive and made my sandwich a special request and it came out exactly how I ordered it, usually when I make special requests for food it comes out wrong but everything was on point! Our food was so fresh and piping hot I couldn't believe it, a fresh bread basket at 9PM?! Fresh hand cut French fries?!! Everything was delicious from beginning to end! Came to this location for an event called " paint night " last night with my wife and we had the best date night we've had in a while! We got there an hour before the event so we decided to have dinner before hand. Our server, Eduardo, was knowledgeable and efficient. He answered all our questions about the menu and closed us out right on time for paint night. Once we were inside there was only one waitress for the whole event. She was very quick and made sure all her tables were well taken care of and made sure we enjoyed all our alcoholic beverages, I believe her name was Jocelyn. Came here for breakfast and was wildly disappointed. Food is not the same as it used to be. Potatoes were a bit cold and deep fried (used to be baked or grilled), omelet was just okay. This Mimi's can't get it's Yelp and GrubHub game up to speed! Had ordered from them before and only had a slight issue with that order and since it was some time ago I decided to give it a try tonight. I ordered two Adult Thanksgiving meals via Yelp to be fulfilled by GrubHub! First I received a call telling me that they were out of dark meat and asked if white meat was okay for my meals. The food was delivered quickly but they only sent one meal! I rechecked my Yelp order receipt and it was correct, I also called GrubHub and it was correct in their system, I was charged for 2 meals. When I questioned Mimi's Cafe about what happened I was told that only one came through their system! The meals was packed sloppy and just okay, they didn't even send the cranberry relish or whipped cream for their very basic pumpkin pie! I will not be giving this location another chance because they make mistakes and don't own up to them. They can't even put together a Thanksgiving meal for delivery That's just sad! Lowest rating i have ever given. I went here last night with a group of women. We had our own little room, that was lovely. Also bad because our server was nowhere to be found. I ordered a medium rare burger, brie and mushrooms, with fries. I have no idea what they did to the burger because it was burned, charred crispy burned. Inside was brown. It was made worse by being lettuce wrapped. No way to hide that burn. The mushrooms were tasteless. I wonder if its because the burned meat over powered everything else. I asked for ketchup for my fries. The cold, soggy, tough fries. I have no idea how the fries attained the consistency they did. Well, maybe after an hour under a hot lamp, then sitting outside the lamp then reheated. I am one that can eat cold fries. These? Almost inedible. I was hungry so i ate them. I never did receive that ketchup because to cover up the yuckiness because our waitress disappeared. This was hands down the worst meal i have been served in years. So why didn't i complain? Been here many times before, and the service is average and the food is good. But a couple weeks ago we got service from Davon. She made this place look so bad. A couple of us had ordered the 3-course meal, that included dessert, and she passed us up a couple of times when it was obvious that all of us were already done with our main course! I ordered soup online @ 4:30pm. The Yelp app told me my order was ready at 4:49 and I should pick it up. When I got to the restaurant, I had to go in with several other customers picking up orders. Social distancing WAS NOT being enforced. The staff took a good amount of time to get to me because I stood outside the door because there were too many people in the lobby. Then the staff could not find my order. It was extremely busy, but I had to wait for them to find my order because they said it was Grub hub. So they finally found the order, but I had to wait for them to prepare my order. I waited in my car until a staff member brought out my order. This should have been easy, it was awful!!
