Went to this Mimi's this morning for brunch. Place was pretty empty and took about ten minutes for someone to come over get us seated. Service was very slow. On the menu it says Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays they do $5 mimosas until 2pm. We got there at 10am and we were so excited for a great mimosa deal. Our bill came at the end and they charged us full price for our mimosas. We asked the waitress about it and she said during COVID they're not doing that deal right now. Completely false advertisement as it is displayed at the top of the menu and ended up paying a lot more for our drinks than we anticipated. We usually have had a great experiences at other Mimi's Cafes but we were pretty disappointed with this one. read more

If I could give 0 stars, I would - I guess the 1 star could apply to the food. Experienced the worst kind of bad customer service in that it was fully laced with actual racism. My original post was taken down because some random stranger who I actually thought was a decent human being at the time I went there, thought it too honest. He was sitting with his baby girl in front of us and I thought it was the cutest thing, so color me surprised when he was the one who wrote back about how rude my original post was and that I didn't know the waitress on a personal level. Well I mean, of course I don't. I'm only commenting on the lack of service we received. But it doesn't change the facts. And the fact is, the waitress we were assigned to was rude, unprofessional and racist. I went here a few years back with my grandmother who, BTW was visiting from Hawaii, and my mom. Since it was down the street, I thought, why not? Food has been fine whenever we've gone there and I wanted to bring my grandmother to a restaurant she hasn't tried before during her visit. For Mother's Day, people. Let that sink in... Grandmother was visiting from Hawaii on Mother's Day weekend. Anyway, we were the only non-Caucasian guests at the time we sat down, so it was obvious that the level of service was, well, let's just say it was geared towards those who were Caucasians, and not us. I don't remember her name but I do remember that when we asked her for things, like an extra plate or clean silverware, she was either nowhere to be found or we would see her ask other tables and get them their requested items right away while we were left to wait. We were the last to be served even when we were sat down before most of everyone who was there. There was also a small bug in my mom's orange juice and a strand of hair in my coffee. Was there an apology? No. So again, grandmother was visiting on Mother's Day weekend. Who wouldn't be mad when someone disrespects you and your family like that? Needless to say, I haven't been back since. And won't be recommending anyone here. read more

Me and my wife was looking for a great breakfast spot and we bumped into Mimi's Cafe. Our waitress Suhey was so nice and very helpful. She recommend us to try out the ham and cheese creppes and with mango Mimosas and it was delicous. Please stop by Mimi's if you are close by the city of Tustin. read more

Came for breakfast with my family and it started off weird. The seats so this thing where you sit down and you feel like you are falling into the seat. It sinks. Then we order some coffee and the waitress brings out the wrong amount of coffee cups and we kindly correct her. She rolls her eyes. Attitude already? The menu is good though. I am so sad to see this lovely restaurant go down hill for really no reason except poor management, in my opinion. The two of us arrived at 9:00am for breakfast. No one at podium to greet us but we assumed a host/hostess was seating someone....we waited.....we waited and then a gentleman behind us asked if we had seen anyone! He was confused as we were and a bit annoyed too. Finally we were seated and our coffee order was taken. And we waited, waited and it was long enough we thought about leaving. Just then she showed up with our coffee, saying she had made a fresh pot.....but never letting us know why the wait. We ordered right away, both of us the Quiche Florentine. We waited and waited.....when it arrived it was cold both the quiche and potatoes. Of course we wait again to ask for our check......waited. We left at 11:05... a two hour breakfast!!!!! My mom and I came in really early one morning and got greeted by Stephany who quickly cleaned the table that we wanted to sit at. She was very attentive and nice. This place sucks!!! I used to love coming here, but after my experience today, I probably won't be back for a very long time. When we arrived there was not a greeter to be found. Finally, when she does arrive she looks as if she can't be bothered to seat us. The waiter was rude and trying to flag him down for something basic like a straw was a task and a half. I had to ask the manager at the bar for a straw. The food was horrible today and it took forever for the horrible, tasteless food to arrive. Finally, towards the end of our meal, our server became nice, but it was too late. I almost didn't tip but what the hell, I won't be a Scrooge around the holidays. It's just really sad. Mimi's in Tustin on 17th is a consistent performer. You can expect tasty well-made food and good service. I had the Croque sandwich with Turkey instead of Ham. They are agreeable about such requests. The sandwich is remarkably delicious with a fresh cheese and tasty gravy sauce on top of the sourdough bread. You eat this sandwich with a fork and steak knife. The French Onion soup as starter was excellent. I also had their petite salad with blue cheese dressing. They toss the salad and with sliced grape tomatoes and zucchini, croutons and of course the wild healthy lettuce it's a tasty salad and bigger than one would expect from the word petite. I've eaten here many times and have never been disappointed. I'll be back soon to try their hamburger with Brie cheese, sautéed mushrooms and caramelized onions on sourdough. Sigh...farewell, Mimi's. Adieu to what used to be a reliable, predictable middlebrow dining experience. I read the 5-star reviews on this page and assume I must have gone into the multiverse when I ate here one evening with two friends (or maybe Mimi's has a lot of family who help out on their reviews) because my last two experiences here were not good. The French onion soup is a mainstay that saved the evening. The bacon avocado omelet had two soggy strips of bacon laid across the top (not chopped and added into the omelet itself) with a couple bruised, orphaned little slices of avocado on top off them. The "roasted potatoes" were hard little moon pebbles that had ZERO flavor, hardly warm. Service? Really? Despite the fact there were only four parties dining in our huge section, our waiter had an attitude of being hurried and impatient. Three people, TWO set-ups with silverware on the table as we sat down. No attempt to fix that (I did food service 5 years in college and dear God, this is the FIRST thing you notice so a guest never has to ask for a knife and fork) until my friend got up and took one off an adjacent table). Let's see...an omelet with toast might require jam for the guest's toast... My polite ask resulted in a scowl, which is all this guy seemed capable of. My boyfriend and I visited your this location on 8/5/2019 and to say we were unsatisfied is an understatement. We both decided to get something other than what we usually order when we visit this establishment and we have been regretting it since. We ordered our drinks and appetizer, a bit rushed by our server, but we figure it was the end of the lunch rush, maybe she's just still in that mode. Nope. Right after we ordered our meals, she came to tell us she was rushing off to her own lunch. Okay. That's happened to me before but I was empty on my iced tea and my boyfriends soda had been dry for a while. New server brought us our appetizer: the trio. The chicken skewers were TINY. A literal bite each and the flatbread tasted like it had been sitting for a minute. It's an appetizer so I was hoping my meal would be better. I ordered the pesto chicken sandwich. I was not impressed. It did not taste good at all. The mayo tasted sour and not like pesto at all and there really wasn't any on the sandwich to begin with. My boyfriend requested more and it didn't help the cause. My boyfriend wanted me to send it back but I was just too tired (I'm a nurse and just got off a grueling 12 hour shift AND my six month old son had shots that morning) and my son was fussing so I asked for a box and we left. I called to speak to a manger this morning and got hung up on by whomever answered the phone. For a $50+ meal, I expected a lot more.
