I've been wanting to check this place out after a friend recommended it to me. As a bay area native, I LOVE my matcha and have been looking for a new spot for my go to... and let me say i was honestly blown away. I got their housemade earl grey matcha latte with the kanayamidori matcha and whole milk (hands down the best matcha i've had in the city so far). The girl taking my order was so kind and took time going over their summer specials and will be returning to try their mango sticky rice matcha next time. For parking, it did take just a few minutes to find one but if you go further up near Scarecrow video, you'll find street parking. For the inside, I immediately noticed the fresh flowers and the natural sunlight coming in through the large windows. The music was vibey and noted it was spacious with plenty of seating. read more

I wish I could say I liked it, but I think compared to all the other matcha cafes, it was one of my least favorite that I've had. I got the strawberry matcha and the mango sticky rice matcha and I unfortunately didn't enjoy either of them. There was a lot of milk that made the matcha taste weak, and the matcha itself was a bit grainy and didn't taste very smooth. The cream tops and purees were both surprisingly lacking flavor as well, and the rice in the mango sticky rice matcha felt old. Additionally, our drinks here were probably also one of the most expensive drinks I've gotten at a matcha cafe. They costed $10 each *without* tip, and then almost $12 each with tip. Moreover, the baristas also didn't seem too pleased to serve us, and we were met with a little attitude, which probably deterred from our experience. I think the store itself is nice. They have a lot of space and seating to hang out. But for the price of the drinks? I don't think I'll be visiting again. I think the drinks have potential and if they became more well balanced overall, I would consider trying Mina's Matcha again. read more

The last time I had a drink from here was in 2025 when they had a popup in the vicinity but far from the noise of the ongoing Pride parade around Denny Way on a hot day. Lo and behold, I visited this place again on an unusually hot day, this time on a Sunday afternoon around 2pm after already having another matcha drink an hour ago! The inside is so chill despite it being sunny outside; every table seat on the right-hand side of the establishment was filled besides the bench area to the left-hand side where books, board games, matcha whisking products and some quiet music from a Bluetooth speaker are located. I was able to converse with staff up front before making my order, and though they didn't have the banana matcha latte I heard of from other Yelpers and wanted to try, they did mention they will try to bring it back for the summer. Instead I got their black sesame matcha latte, which is one of their limited time menu options as of 4/19/26. Matcha is ceremonial and high-quality from having a sip of just the bottom portion where the matcha is, while the black sesame cream top heavily overpowered the matcha especially after stirring everything together. There was probably a slightly larger portion of the black sesame cream top compared to the matcha layer, so that might explain why I couldn't get most of the matcha. From just the cream top, however, that black sesame is a nutty, earthy hit for my taste buds! I got my drink with whole milk, as they do charge for milk alternatives like oat and corn milk. There's a good number of matcha drinks here, and I love the overall quality of what they bring. I'd come back to try some of their specialty drinks and see what other limited menu items they bring. read more

To be honest I just wasn't blown away. This place is pricey and average/forgettable. I have been here twice now. I stopped by during the soft opening the first few days they opened up and recently stopped by early May. The service was friendly my first visit but seemed I was intruding on the two women employees personal convo. Second visit similar experience as a young woman and man were sitting on their phones behind the counter having a conversation they did not end even when taking my order. Not as friendly and seemed they just wanted me to order and leave. No friendly customer service or how are you or enthusiasm. The cafe is beautiful and bright with modern seating and a comfy couch. WIFI is available for customers, making this another popular spot in U district for students on laptops. The drinks are expensive. Quality is average. My first visit I tried the Ube matcha. Ube soft top was sweet and good but definitely not authentic. Matcha is definitely lower quality. I am a matcha connoisseur and don't mind a lower quality matcha sometimes but this is just not good. Especially for drinks being like $9 and the place is called Mina's Matcha I would expect better matcha. A bit grainy. They do whisk the matcha which is great but it's just a low quality not great tasting matcha tbh. My second most recent visit I gave the Earl Grey Matcha a try which is with their house made Earl grey syrup. I've tried Earl Grey Matcha from a few other Matcha shops and this one was least impressive. The syrup tasted more like a simple sweet syrup. Didn't really elevate the matcha much, just added a bit of sweetness. Hard to detect any Earl Grey flavor. I am a big fan of matcha and big fan of Earl Grey. This just wasn't great especially after paying $10+ after tip I just felt like I regretted my purchase. Not a great drink and not great service made me wish I went to another place nearby instead. I don't like being harsh but this was my honest experience with Mina's Matcha. After my two visits trying two different of their Specialty Matcha's, I won't be back. I just think there are plenty of better options in the U district. read more

Mina's Matcha is one of my favorite matcha spots in the area. Their matcha is strong (they use 6 grams!) and they always have interesting flavors, like the fruity pebbles matcha or the brown sugar earl grey hojicha. The employees are always inviting and friendly - coming here is always a pleasant experience! I follow them on social media as well and you can tell they are thoughtful and take their customers into consideration. They host community events and seem to build on customer feedback. After having a late lunch elsewhere, I was looking for a new indie cafe to try. Time for a visit to check out Mina's Matcha in Seattle's University District (4/16/26). I lucked out with street parking around the corner, since no luck along Roosevelt Way. The bright, corner cafe was fairly full of customers onsite - studying, some on laptops, others having active convos. Indoor seating included counter high tops, two top tables, a bench, and additional seating by the wall shelving. The counter person was very personable, greeted me and others that followed with genuine enthusiasm. After glancing at their beverage menu, I opted for a peach blossom matcha refresher with added sweet cream. The remaining scone and cookie did not quite catch my interest, however, the chocolate ganache cake did. I requested a slice of that. The counter person was very kind to bring both my beverage and cake slice to where I was seated. I decided to sit at one end of the couch, however, this was not meant for long term seating for me. It would have been fine if I had a longer torso and legs. I spent over an hour onsite and it was pleasant. Great natural light, decent music playing, minimalistic decor. The iced beverage was indeed refreshing and the chocolate ganache cake was moist and not overly sweet. Both items were on point. Well situated indie cafe along Roosevelt. A true hidden gem in the neighborhood. The pairing of tea, floral, and matcha flavors are beautifully crafted and balanced. You can also adjust sweetness and add your own on the side if it isn't enough. There are a lot of new matcha shops popping up, all serving ceremonial grade matcha, but Mina's is my favorite in terms of flavor, variety, and seating space. I am hesitant to tell people about this place because I want it to stay hidden! It's quite well-known among students who need a study space or groups that bring their family. On one side, there's a cozy reading nook. On the other side, lovely seats by the window and a few tables. Definitely worth visiting if you're in the area. read more

Cute spot and really good matcha! This is definitely one of the top matchas I've tried in the Seattle area. When we came it was quite busy and hard to find a seat, but eventually a couple cleared up and became available. I got the regular matcha latte with oat milk, which was really good! So glad to see they finally have a brick and mortar location! They've done a great job with the spot where one of my favorite candle places used to be. There's plenty of types of seating including couches, bar stools, large table, and small tables. Great lighting near the windows. The menu has some classic mat has, more special options with cream tops, and then not matcha things. They have oat or corn milk too which was nice. I'm a bit new to matcha, but I'm a longtime black tea and hojicha enthusiast. I came here by recommendation of a friend and it's very good! I came back two days in a row for the strawberry matcha latte and ube matcha latte. The only downside is the ambiance is a bit unwelcoming to the point that I don't know if I'd want to be a regular even if the drinks are good. The music playlist when I visited was great, and the decor does look like it's trying to be trendy and aesthetic, but it gets very echo-y and loud inside because of all the hard surfaces and plastic tables. This makes it a bad spot for reading or studying or having a non-shouting conversation. Having more wood furniture and real plants would help a lot with the noise levels and comfort, but instead they have a bunch of plastic fake plants everywhere (several without decorative pots/baskets so they're like straight out of IKEA??), which only makes it feel even more unsettling. On a cleanliness level, the decorative matcha bowl shelf was also very visibly covered in dust and fingerprints. The floors were pretty filthy and there were chunks of debris, dust bunnies, and hairballs near seating areas. Straws aren't in paper sleeves and are just open in a jar for everyone to touch. Ew. Cleanliness is kind of important for food and beverage businesses. Edit: apparently they will post on Instagram complaining that negative reviews are fake if you leave one. This isn't a fake review lol! I went twice this past weekend. Please clean your cafe more. read more

I love this place! Mina was so nice and welcoming. The place itself is clean and great for dining in. The banana pudding matcha was probably the best-tasting one. It was thick and creamy, and you can actually taste the bananas. The umami of the matcha complemented the sweetness of the pudding very well. Super cozy cafe doubling as a staple study spot for UW students! The workers are so so sweet and give great recommendations for drinks. I got the Matcha Latte with Ube Cream Top, delicious!! I'm also always about the milk alternatives besides your staple whole/2% and oat milk. They have corn milk which I've never tried before, offering a perfect medium between a light and thin almond milk, and a thick and creamy oat milk. Nice touch of sweetness that's great for matcha, and pretty good macro wise as well! Super unique that would keep me coming back here! First of all, the flavor was excellent! The matcha is extremely rich and high quality. Mina's gets my matcha enthusiast seal of approval! I got the Double Matcha Latte (matcha latte with a matcha cream top) with Kanayamidori matcha, half-sweet with standard milk. It was truly delicious. I also got a Strawberry Matcha Latte for my friend with Yabukita (their "beginner friendly" matcha) and they loved it. Very few places get matcha right for me, but Mina's nailed it. My one word of advice for not-too-sweet matcha lovers would be to order half-sweet and stir before drinking (don't just drink with your straw at the bottom without mixing; it might be too sweet!). If you prefer very lightly sweetened matcha, I suggest ordering zero sweetness and adding it yourself. They provide a pump of syrup so you can add sweetness yourself. Aside from the matcha, the place was very cute and had places to study. I will definitely be back! read more

A hidden matcha café that just opened near the U-District, slightly outside of the Ave. The interior of Mina's Matcha is really nice--perfect for getting some work done if you're able to snag a seat. I stopped by right after their first soft opening. There was a line, but it moved quickly.
