Ssam wrap with boiled pork, banchan, seafood pancake
    Jessie L.

The food here is very good and serves different dishes than the typical Americanized Korean restaurant. I love their seafood pancake and the side dishes are slightly different than what I'm used to but all very good. Unfortunately, the waitresses made the experience unpleasant. We finished all our food and even gave them a higher tip as thanks for serving a bigger group. I'm pretty sure it's because we aren't Korean. I said thank you to one waitress and she stared at me, unsmiling, then looked away without a word. My entire family noticed all the waitresses had stinky expressions and didn't even bother to say anything to us when we left, it felt like we were a nuisance to them.

This is a tiny "hole-in-the-wall" Korean restaurant -- and it's fantastic! We were 2 couples and these 2 large dishes were enough for all of us plus enough to take home for lunch the next day for 1. I love bossam (steamed pork belly) and I've tried a lot of places. This place could be the best. I didn't know how they get it so tender, but the meat almost falls apart as you touch it. Amazing! The black cod stew is also the best I've had. The broth is perfect -- rich and spicy, but not overwhelming, so you can stuff taste the fish. And they are generous with the fish. I didn't know how many pieces there were ... But plenty for all 4 of us. Seating is limited. I highly recommend!

Visted here during my trip from the bay because I was really missing authentic Korean food, but I ended up leaving with something even more speciall called "Jeong." I ordered galchi gui and from the very first bite, it reminded me of the flavors I enjoyed back in Korea. The fish was perfectly cooked, flavorful, and had that nostalgic taste that instantly brought back memories of home. Although the restaurant is relatively small, it never felt cramped or uncomfortable. In fact, the cozy atmosphere made the experience even more enjoyable. The restaurant was exceptionally clean, and the ladies working there were incredibly kind and attentive throughout our meal. Their genuine hospitality made us feel welcomed and cared for from the start to finish. Every side dish was delicious and clearly made with care. Another thing I appreciated was how peaceful the dining environment was. It wasn't loud or chaotic, so we were able to enjoy great conversation while sharing a wonderful meal. There are many places that serve good food, but it's rare to find a restaurant that offers great food, genuine kindness, and a comforting atmosphere all at once. This place really worth a visit

I was recommended here by a friend and fell in love with the braised fish. I came every so often to get their braised fish and trying other dishes on the menu - cold noodles, seafood pancake, and more. This place is always full of Korean families, so I know the food is authentic. The service is fast and efficient. The Korean aunties servers always make sure to cut up and split the food for you. The vibe is so friendly, it always feels like I'm over at my friend's house dining here. As for the food, everything always tastes delicious! All the side dishes are yummy and pair well with the main dishes. My must-order is the braised cod. It's full of fish with tofu and radish that has been braised in a delicious spicy sauce. The seafood pancake was crispy, and would definitely be better with more seafood. The cold noodle was refreshing, but I think it didn't pair well with the braised fish as it would with grilled galbi. Overall, I highly recommend their braised fish dishes!

very small hole in the wall restaurant. love the service and the food, which is very delicious down to the side dishes! kalguksu is very filling and hearty. i love how large the portion is. i was only able to eat half and had to take the rest to go

It was really savory and healthy.

Def will come here again. I really enjoyed the korean food here. Their banchan was fresh and yummy. It is a bit pricey but I can see why. The quality is great. I usually would drive bsck to ktown in LA but not anymore. Their stinky soybean is sooo good and hearty. If you have elderly grandparents or parents, give this place a chance. More parking in the back. Service is so nice feel like home. Small hole in thr wall.

I always come here with family for Korean comfort food! They have the best menu and atmosphere. It has a hole-in-the-wall type of feel, but it's very cute and cozy. I usually order the 들깨 수제비 because it's unbeatable in terms of flavor. My mum ordered the 곤드레밥, and the presentation for everything is always on point. The side dishes are obviously refillable, so don't be afraid to ask for more. This is my favorite Korean restaurant in the area, and I wish there were more like this!

This restaurant reminded me of Seattle's "The Pike Place Fish Market," where fresh fish has been sold for decades as employees playfully throw fish around. Though this place has been open for 10 years, we were unaware of its existence. Situated in a humble shopping center with a modest square footage, you would never imagine the quality of service and Korean food it offers. When we checked in, the restaurant was nearly full, and the busyness and energy of the staff expressed their confidence and pride in their reputation. We were first served water, and the waitstaff's recommendations already impressed us with the promise of quality and taste. We ordered Braised Black Cod, and SsamJjang Vegetables wrap combination with Spicy Marinated Pork, and Bean Casserole for the three of us to share. The fresh lettuce and vegetables, including green pepper, cucumber, carrots, wild sesame leaves, and steamed cabbage, arrived first. We also had a choice between white rice and mixed grain rice, opting for the healthier option. The presentation and quantity of the food and side dishes were attractive and impressive. When the Spicy Pork arrived, we could already tell it would taste great. The Bean Casserole was also delicious. The awaited Braised Black Cod, which they were very proud of, came last. We didn't have to wait long to encounter one of the restaurant's most popular dishes. The combination of quantity, quality, and taste was outstanding, although it was a little too sweet for one of us. The Black Cod melted in our mouths, and the tofu and radish were incredibly flavorful. We called this kind of food 밥도둑 (Thief of Rice) because it kept making us eat more rice. We were very full and ended up taking the leftovers home. The service was excellent. There might be many people who have never visited this restaurant, but there are likely few who have only been here once. We plan to come back to try other menu items next time. Strongly recommended. Updates on 5/3/2025 Today marked my second visit to this remarkable restaurant, originally recommended by my sister-in-law--and it was even more memorable than the first. This time, we ordered a wide variety of their signature dishes, including braised silver cod (은대구 조림), aged kimchi short rib stew (묵은지 갈비찜), marinated raw crab (양념게장), fermented soybean stew (청국장), and several others. Each dish was rich in flavor, beautifully presented, and reflected the restaurant's commitment to quality. Everyone at our table was thoroughly impressed with the depth and balance of flavors across the board. What stood out just as much as the food was their consistent, energetic service--the staff moved with purpose, warmth, and genuine hospitality, which added so much to the overall dining experience. We were especially fortunate to meet the owner, Jennifer, during our visit. Speaking with her offered a glimpse into the heart and mindset behind the restaurant's success. She shared with us that they had taken over the restaurant from a previous owner who had struggled to make the business work. Hearing this made their transformation even more inspiring. What truly turned things around was Jennifer's vision and mindset--a powerful combination of innovation, attention to detail, quality control, and a complete renovation of the space. Her passion for excellence is evident in every dish and interaction, and it's clear that this success didn't happen by chance--it was earned through intentional change and bold leadership. I was also excited to learn that they have recently opened a second location in Chino Hills, which I hope to visit soon. Although there's been a rumor about a third location in La Palma, I learned that it's not affiliated--it's a completely separate business. This restaurant is a true example of how a change in leadership and mindset can breathe new life into a struggling space. It's now not only surviving but thriving--and I look forward to returning again soon.

Korean style banchan and Spicy Braised black cod are amazing
    Dae Gon K.

The Korean-style black cod dish is truly exceptional--perfectly seasoned, beautifully cooked, and full of rich, delicate flavor. Each bite feels thoughtfully crafted. All of the banchan are delicious as well, offering a great balance of textures and tastes that complement the main dish. You can really sense the care put into every small plate. Overall, the food quality here is outstanding, from the star entrée to the side dishes, making the entire meal feel comforting, authentic, and incredibly satisfying

This place is listed today as having outdoor seating. Is it still available? If it is, is it covered or heated? How many people can sit there? / April 8, 2023

A few weeks ago I saw one table outside that had a clipboard for writing down your name for the waitlist. People were sitting there before being called inside. This establishment isn't big and isn't good for large groups. Most tables seat 4.

I've had no complaints about the taste of their food. 3. Service is also nice and they are very attentive at serving you. Cons: I would recommend people to NEVER order takeout here. They charge you the same prices for their food as if you're eating indoors; however, the quantity they put into the containers is unforgivable. I've order the same rolls that I would get inside the restaurant with my fiancé (only 2) and it was quite numerous and we got full easily. I ordered 5 different rolls for my family to bring home to them and to treat my father especially for Father's Day weekend since he was craving it after a long week of work. I opened the containers to find like 5 pieces of a roll ordered (Salmon Love Roll) and the rest of my rolls had little quantity (half of the container was empty). I was pretty dumbfounded because how could you charge the price of a full set when my containers were barely filled with anything. You filled the rest of the containers with THE SAUCE CUPS. You can put the sauce cups on the side and put more in the actual container. Also, I had filled out that I needed utensils and napkins. I did not even get anything for that as well. In this economy atm, charging anything for those prices and giving us takeout service and quantity like this is pretty unforgivable. I've had other sushi places where I needed to save the rest for the next meal because they had given a lot, but definitely not here. I had rooted for this place when they reopened, but now I'm pretty disappointed.

Anyways I saw that they had plenty of noodle dishes to choose from so decided to give it a go. Ordered the yukkaejang (spicy braised beef soup) with the rolling dumplings (both kalbi and kimchi). The dumplings were called rolling because I assume they were rolled out and shaped into balls - spherical meat stuffing balls covered with a thin dumpling wrapper. I've eaten dumplings my entire life but this type of dumpling was a first for me so I was very interested in trying this out. Turns out the dumplings were pretty good. It does fall apart pretty easily when picking them up with chopsticks to dip into the sauce which was a bit annoying, so you should be mindful and careful of that if ordering them. The yukkaejang was not the best I've had but it was still pretty good. Prices were fair and the quality of food was solid. I wish they served free water as they make you buy bottles of water if you ask them for water. But with all that being said, I wouldn't hesitate to eat here again.

It clearly angered her that we didn't know how to use her point of service machine and was angry that we tried to order fried chicken, which is apparently not available anymore, but still on the menu so we got yelled at about that too. The interior is clean, newly built, and has a modern Korean hanok-style look. The servers were also friendly both times, so I didn't have any issues with the service or atmosphere. Unfortunately, the main problem for me was the food. I've eaten at the LA location before and never really thought the food tasted bad there, but at this Buena Park location, both visits gave me the impression that the food didn't taste as fresh as it should. On my most recent visit, I ordered the soondae gukbap, and the soondae had an unpleasant off smell and didn't taste very fresh. It almost tasted like it had been sitting for a while. On my first visit, I tried the regular pork gukbap, and the pork flavor was also stronger than I personally prefer. I do tend to like cleaner-tasting gukbap, but this stood out to me because I don't remember having the same issue at the LA location. But after having a similar impression on my second visit, I'm not sure if this location is consistent yet. The space is nice and the service was good, but for a gukbap restaurant, the food has to be the main reason to come back. Based on my two visits, this location was disappointing for me.
