Great selection of dim sum and main dishes. Most of the dishes were decent. The duck dish we got was mostly bones. We definitely got a very skinny duck with not meat which was disappointing . Service was decent. Servers were nice but did forget a few dishes we ordered in the middle of the meal. Place is pretty big with lots of seating. read more

I was pleasantly surprised to see the inside of the restaurant decorated so nicely. I usually go to the Minghin in Chinatown, and it was my first time at this location. Pros: - Nice atmosphere, very family friendly - Food comes out quickly - Menu is easy to use, there are a lot of pictures to show you what you're ordering Cons: - The beef chow fun was not good, it was very salty and bland - The honey spareribs came out cold, and I feel like they must have been sitting out for a bit - The prices are a bit high for dim sum - Service is touch and go, they will serve your food quickly and efficiently, but do not expect waiters checking up on you or asking you if you need anything. If you need something, you'll have to flag someone over. Overall: It seems the quality of food is lower yet the prices are higher here compared to the Chinatown Minghin. I prefer the Minghin in Chinatown over this location. read more

After not having dim sum for over a year and a half, it was most disappointing! The Shrimp crepe was the worst, the shrimp inside the crepe was way overcooked and dry! Also the spare ribs with black bean sauce was not so good either, the meat was very fatty and dry. The service was a 4 star but the food definitely was not! The food came pretty fast, but one dish at a time! It very pricey too, a small plate of Chinese broccoli was almost $9! Anyway, there were a few tasty items: the shrimp dumpling with green chives, egg yolk paste bun, the crispy pork belly Macau style and the puffy egg custard tarts! read more

I like it. It is authentic Chinese. I would very much prefer the price to be lower and lower the quantity so that I can sample more dim sum dishes. I know it's inflation but a shrimp dumpling is already $8 which is way too high making me not able to try other things. read more

The food quality seems to have dropped slightly and prices have gone up but the service has plummeted. Salt and Pepper Shrimp - one time it was perfect, one time it was overdone and the shrimp was dry Ox Tail Honey Pepper Casserole - flavorless sadly Salt and Pepper Fish - overdone and dry fish On Choy Beef - overcooked the On Choy so it wasn't snappy like it should be Rice Noodle w/ Beef - No Wok hei, but it was nice and oily The food looks pretty but it's just not good. There were no water refills or tea refills unless you chase someone down, and then they only filled 1 water cup out of the 5 of us. read more

Found this place when we were craving dim sum but didn't want to go all the way downtown to Chinatown for it. They take reservations so call ahead. We called and asked if we could come in soon and they were not busy so allowed us to just walk in. We ordered some tea since it was a bit cold, that was really nice. We ordered, roasted pork belly, siu mai, chicken feet, stuffed sticky rice in lotus leaf, beef balls and baked bbq pork buns. The roasted pork was delicious, flavorful and fatty just how I like it!! The siu mai was perfectly cooked, the chicken feet nice and tender, the sticky rice also very flavorful and delicious! The beef balls were also very yummy! And the baked bbq pork buns were so good! And I never reach for those but these were amazing! This place is so so good! I can't wait to go back!! read more

I think this dimsum place is just ok. This one is in the suburbs and it really wasn't anything spectacular. We got a decent amount your typical dimsum ex: baos, Shumai, ribs, seasame balls, chicken feet, and lots of others. The sticky rice lotus leaf wrap was soiled. I thought something was off but then even my dad commented that it had gone bad before I said anything out loud. They were nice to take the sticky rice lotus leaf back and took off that item from our bill. The mango ice dessert with tiny tapioca they highlight in their menu was not good. The flavors didn't really compliment each other well. Would not recommend. Overall I think if you're craving dimsum and live in the suburbs it's not a bad spot to go hit a craving. Fun newish atmosphere. Staff nice. Good staff. Decent place to people watch. The Chinatown location is deff better in my opinion. read more

We are regulars for takeout at minghin! This review will be mostly on takeout experiences although i have dined in. Their restaurant is large and spacious but can be a wait on busy nights. They have a huge menu from dim sum to noodles to rice dishes! My favorite dim sum items are the shrimp dumplings, fried seafood rolls and the spare ribs. Everything is cooked fresh! Their dinner and lunch entrees are authentic and great as well. My favorites are the duck, salt and pepper pork chop and the yung chow fried rice. They are on the more expensive side of dim sum but the quality is great! I will continue to be a regular! read more

I had a pretty excellent meal here tonight. I've been to the original in Chinatown so it's a pretty high bar. I wasn't sure what to expect, but this place was bright and big. Not sure if they did a remodel, but it was very good looking. You can also order with the iPad, but this wasn't really explained to me. The server came over and just took the iPad before we were done. Luckily, we stopped there with the ordering because we ordered a ton of food! All of it came out super fast which was a little concerning, but it was all hot and delicious. The two highlights were the pork fried rice and the potstickers. Two of the best I've ever eaten. We also got Orange Chicken, Baos, and hot and sour soup. All great! We were super impressed with the place. The service is only ok, but I think there might have been a little bit of a language barrier and a little culture shock. Still, this was just as good as Chinatown and really authentic. Based on the size of the place and the ample parking, we will be back very soon! read more

Food and service have both gone downhill. It took awhile to get acknowledged after being seated. Once we placed our order, we never saw the server again. We had to ask the guy working the front to get our check. The dim sum is overpriced and not good at all. All the beef items were undercooked. Fried items were overcooked from being refried. Even then most of the food was cold probably sitting at room temperature for too long. When we asked to replace some of the undercooked items, they don't apologize, don't acknowledge, don't say anything. They take it and walk away. Most Chinese restaurants have horrible customer service however this is the worse. I would not recommend this restaurant. read more

Minghin is usually one of our restaurants to take our out of town guests to. Was a little disappointed when we made reservations for a group of 26 and was not found at the restaurant. We had e-mailed the manager and she assured us that everything was arranged. When we arrived at this location, our reservation was no where to be found. Luckily we were there early so they were able to accommodate us. Food was decent. We ordered 8 dishes total: 1.Meat Trio (WORTH IT! GET IT!) - 2. Pork Fried rice 3. Beef pan fried noodles 4. Lobster with scallion and ginger 5. String beans w/ Pork 6. Beef and broccoli 7. Orange chicken (least favorite, way to sweet!) 8. Salt and pepper tofu Service was not quick as usual. I had to track down our server to order food and drinks. He forgot our drinks and when he did it was the wrong one. Will still be coming back next time because food is always good. read more

I'm so glad that MingHin came to Schaumberg a few years back. There are slim pickings for dimsum in the burbs and MingHin is our favorite spot for dimsum in Chicago overall. This is a stand alone with plenty of parking which is heavenly compared to trying to find parking in Chinatown. Their menu is extensive for both Dim Sum and traditional Chinese dishes. This location is extremely clean and well lit, similar to their downtown location but with white tile flooring. Service at this location is great as well. We've ordered carry out many times and if there ever has been a missing item they were quick to refund/credit the account. Shrimp Dumpling, Shrimp Crepe, Shrimp Dumpling with Green Chive all had soft wrapper with good amount of filling and shrimp flavor. Deep Fried Pork Dumpling: crispy deep fried exterior with the mochi like chew and salty pork flavor. The chicken feet, tripe, spare ribs with black been sauce, pan friend turnip cake, siu mai and pan fried green chive cake all were on point with their flavors and texture. Pork Rice Noodle Roll with XO Sauce: this was a pleasant surprise as it has nice little bursts of heat with the chew texture of the rice noodle. Crispy Pork Belly Macau Style: Sooo good and must have is all I can say. If you've never tried this you must. Cubes of fatty pork belly with a super crispy skin which you dip in sugar. Salty, sweet, crispy and meaty, what's not to love. If you're looking for good authentic dim sum, you must try MingHin. read more

This is my favorite Dim Sum place! We always go to the Chicago Chinatown location, but since the traffic to go to city was terrible last Friday, we decided to go to a different location, and the Rolling Meadows one did not disappointed. We ordered bbq pork buns (you will never have enough of these), MingHin shrimp dumplings, spring rolls, crab rangoons and pot stickers! Everything was so delicious and well presented! Of course everything well paired with a cold Asahi! Lastly to share we got some noodles. Be aware, portions are huge, we ended up taking some home! Definitely a great option when we are craving some dim sum but don't want to drive all way to the city! We will visit again! read more

I crave dim sum but I also crave salt and pepper Japanese tofu. There are only two places I get this dish from: Joy Yee and Minghin. They make it perfectly. Plenty of parking in the lot and great for groups. I don't live in the area but often travel through and will stop here on purpose on my way back home to get some salt and pepper Japanese tofu with a couple of dim sum choices like chicken feet and dumplings. The service is great! I can't wait to go back soon. read more

MingHin had some of the best Chinese food in the suburbs. This location has ample parking and the wait for a table isn't long. You can order dimsum or main dishes through the provided tablet. Everything has pictures for east ordering. After you order, the food comes out rapidly and is freshly made. The food is hot and tasty. A highlight is the salted egg yolk shrimp. The restaurant is big and good for groups. Will be back! read more

I was craving for eggplant dish. Yesterday I went to MingHin cause I saw they are selling several eggplant dishes. Decided to get the salty fish & chicken eggplant. It came with a complimentary white rice. I think it's good. But my roommate thought it is too salty. The entire environment is pretty fancy. It's great for family party for sure. Staff is very efficient and they got my food ready within 20 mins. Tips- if you don't want to wait, order ahead is highly recommended! Total spent $20. The food portion is big, I didn't finish it and still had a lot left. I will definitely come back again but ask the chef put less oil. read more

The only dim sum place in the burbs remains good. It has dropped a bit from the great quality you get in Chinatown location but still better than driving into the city. What shocked me the most was the increase in prices this year for dim sum. Most of the other dishes have not changed and are still a great value, but the dumplings have gotten out of control. Quality of main dishes is very consistent and above average. read more

Sad to say that we didn't have a great experience at MingHin. We had heard that the one in Chinatown was Michelin advised so we thought the standard would be quite similar at this location but it was not :/. Most of the dim sum came lukewarm or undercooked, the siu mai lacked flavor and tasted like something you buy from the grocery store and just microwaved, the turnip cake was not pan fried enough, the roasted pork was good but the skin could be crispier. The tripe we got was tasty though. The service was great however and we were quickly seated however it was unfortunate to pay for a supermarket style dim sum quality. read more

MingHin is not longer hold the quality and service as they used to be. It becomes American Chinese restaurant. Their dim sum seems to be premade in a central kitchen, not fresh at all. I can just buy freezes dim sum and steam at home by myself. The floor manage doesn't know how to take care of reservations. It was a long story....... Don't go there for a formal event with more than 9 people. This restaurant won't able accommodate. They won't take reservations seriously and they will embarrass you and your guests . As a Chinese, I will NOT recommend it for anyone, other than people want to just want an overprice Panda Express. By the way, don't order their Chinese style chicken, which include chicken with garlic soy sauce and all the authentic chicken dishes. They are poorly cook and fishy. Again, if you want Panda Express style food, they should be ok. read more

Stopped by for dim sum at their Schaumburg location. The menu prices seem very confused for dim sum. Hagow (shrimp dumplings) are priced in the big plate category?? Give me a break. $8 for a plate of four shrimp dumplings is robbery. The Peking duck was served in a plate of sauce instead of sauce on the side, which most places offer. It tasted fine, but the serving style looks very strange. Overall, way too overpriced. I came after seeing a recommendation from eater.com, and left disappointed. Service is handled via iPad. You order from iPad and hand it to a server for confirmation. Ambiance is fine for families. For Chicago, this is underwhelming and overpriced for a dim sum joint. Cmon guys. read more

Supporting local biz during stay at home order! During quarantine, I've been really reminded of what my favorite foods are, especially the first few weeks in March, scared to go out anywhere although I had the heart to support local businesses. One of the favorite food items is dim sum. Dim sum isn't just about the food but also the experience. However, tough times right now. And this takeout dim sum from MingHin HIT THE SPOT. *woot woot* To my surprise, food during takeout to home transition made it fine, a lot better than I anticipated. Ohhh how I have missed you, shumai and har gow. We had a good meal and everything was good. Food took almost an hour to come out and they brought it out one at a time. To top it off, all of the food was cold and tasted like soap. Their Beef chow fun was the only dish that was decent. We didn't want to wait another hour for our last 3 dishes to come so we canceled the order but they tried to charge us for it. It took a good minute to get those orders voided. Only one server seemed to be doing the job of 5 employees and all the other servers were wandering around trying to look busy. You're better off just driving the hour to Chinatown if you want dimsum. Interior was pretty nice and spacious. read more

If you are ever in Chicago this is a place you have to go for dim sum. they have the best. They open at 11 o'clock we got there a little bit early like probably 20 minutes. And a lot of people was already in the line. They take reservations so call ahead. As soon as we walk in there was more people coming in. Starting out ordered some tea. We order so many dishes. Nice thing about it is you can order from the iPad. We order so many dishes! About 17 dishes! The service is so fast here. The food came out pretty quickly continue coming. Empty plates are quickly picked up and removed from the table. We emptied the tea pretty quickly and whenever we lift the lid The servers always refill. Pretty friendly environment. A place where you enjoy foods The quality of fooood! It's one of the best dim sum. We love The meat and chicken feet. Dip the sugar with pork belly crispy on the outside. The food is amazing I still remember the taste of it! read more

This is a great place to get dim sum and it's a great option versus going to Chinatown Service is great here and totally accommodating to large parties. read more

I was excited walking into MingHin admiring the lovely dining area which borders on being elegant. That was the highlight of my visit. Had several dim sum items for lunch. The tripe was good. Adding more flavor like ginger would help the bland jook with fish. Actually adding a pinch of salt would be a good start. The bean curd wraps were dried out. At this price point, you would think they could afford to discard tired looking food. Service was indifferent. The waitstaff considered the job done putting food on the table and that was that. Nobody bothered to check how my meal was. Had to flag down someone to get salt and pepper for the bland jook. It was a disappointing experience. This place is not quite ready for big times as aspirational as the decor may be. read more

We wanted to try a variety of dishes, so we ordered two baskets of the Shanghai Soup Dumplings, the Enoki Mushroom appetizer, Chicken Fried Rice, Phat Phat Chicken, Nasi Campur, and finished the meal with the Mango Sago. Everything was incredible. The soup dumplings definitely filled the void that Din Tai Fung left behind. Every dish was fresh, perfectly seasoned, and served piping hot. The Mango Sago was the perfect palate cleanser and a refreshing way to end the meal on a hot summer day. The standout for me was the Enoki Mushroom appetizer. That will be a must-order every time we come back. We also have Indonesian family and have visited Bali, so we were excited to try the Nasi Campur. It was spot on. The satay is another must-order in my opinion. Our waiter was kind and attentive, and the rest of the staff were just as welcoming and pleasant. The line in the basil didn't seem that fresh which is why I was a little disappointed other than that it was okay. Rating: 1/5 Stars (10 Below Zero if I Could) I have never had such an appalling experience at a restaurant in my life, and we will never return to MingHin Cuisine. From start to finish, the food and hygiene were completely unacceptable: Terrible Food Quality: My meal was completely bland and tasteless. To make matters worse, they forgot the white rice that came with my dish. The waitress only realized it much later, coming over to ask if I "still needed" the rice that should have arrived with my main meal in the first place. Inedible Dishes: The crab Rangoons were the worst I've ever had--extremely greasy with barely any filling inside. My husband's fried rice was literally soupy--not just soggy, but watery with a distinct, off-putting gamy flavor. My son's duck was almost entirely skin and bone with hardly any meat, and to our disgust, the crispy skin still had hair on it. Unsanitary & Dangerous Bathroom Conditions: When I went to the bathroom, the entire area was flooded. Water was dripping all over the walls and ceiling, and they had industrial fans running with a staff member just telling me to "be careful not to fall." If a restaurant is dealing with severe plumbing issues like that, they should close until it's fixed, not let patrons wade through it. Pests and Poor Hygiene: They had the back door propped wide open, allowing flies to swarm the dining area. One landed right on the rim of my water glass, forcing me to ask for a replacement. When I got back to our table, I noticed curly hair stuck to the back of my seat. It's clear they don't even bother to wipe down or clean between customers. Taste of Chinatown in the Northwest Suburbs. MingHin has become a popular restaurant in Chicago Chinatown, and my family and I have made the hour+ trek to dine there. We were excited that they opened a restaurant in the suburbs. We had dinner here for the first time after it has been opened for about two weeks. We got there early so fortunately did not have to wait. However, a line formed quickly. The ambiance was good, a nice size juice/alcohol bar in the center of the restaurant. The food came out quickly, and it was good, albeit on the smaller size. What is unique is that they serve dim sum during dinner time, which is pretty unheard of. So if you're craving for dim sum past morning time, you now can get it here. Not sure how long this will last. I haven't tried the dim sum menu when I went, but it looked good. I've been going to the flagship location in Chinatown since before they expanded. I'm pleased to discover that the suburban location suffers no loss in quality from the original. Instead, this location is much more spacious and well decorated, the bathrooms are clean, there's ample parking, and the waitstaff are incredibly attentive and intuitive. The food is usually really good if you know what to order, although it lacks the consistency necessary for full stars. This is my go to place for dim sum or when I miss the type of Chinatown style immigrant Chinese food I grew up on read more

Even for those looking to enjoy more familiar options, the technique and ingredients used to create these dishes creates a superior product to what you'll find at a standard carryout spot. For example the sweet orange beef is extra crispy with perfectly tender beef with a sweetness that's more citrus based and not overpowering. The La Tsi chicken is fried nicely but derives much of the flavor from garlic and chilis, giving a much more complex depth of flavor without being excessively salty. The honey glazed shrimp is fried very nicely, with giant shrimp inside -- combining delicious flavor and delicious texture at the same time. For the most complex and delicious flavors, classic szechuan options like the boiled lamb in szechwan sauce and sliced beef and tripe in chili sauce are still the way to go for a masterful mix of herbs and spices. In addition, the meat is melt-in-your-mouth soft without being overly fatty. Overall, one of the best spots you'll find in the area for Chinese cuisine. If you like Bowl of Fortune or Lao Sze Chuan nearby, you'll find the food here to be just as good.

The dishes came out hot, properly seasoned, and with flavors that felt like they had survived several generations without being run through a suburban focus group. Rich sauces, good texture, real heat where there was supposed to be heat, and none of that timid Americanized nonsense where everything tastes vaguely sweet because somebody is afraid a customer from Barrington might encounter a spice. This is the kind of food that makes you stop talking for a minute because your mouth has more important work to do. The P.O.A. Index, however, was another matter entirely. Low. Very low. Not catastrophic. Not a federal emergency. Just the kind of room where a man quickly realizes he is here for dinner and only dinner. No distractions. No inappropriate optimism. No scanning the room like a horny air-traffic controller. Just me, a plate of excellent Chinese food, and the peaceful acceptance that romance would not be part of tonight's dining experience. And you know what? Fine. Because the food absolutely carried the evening. Asian Bistro doesn't need a nuclear P.O.A. Index. It has something rarer in Arlington Heights: A kitchen with a personality. Five stars. Great authentic Chinese food, no yuppie BS, and a P.O.A. Index low enough that I was finally able to concentrate on my dinner.

I also ordered beef and broccoli Cantonese chow mein. This was delicious! There was so much beef and broccoli, the sauce wasn't salty and went perfect with the chow mein noodles. We ordered egg rolls and crab rangoons too. Both we were good. The wrapper was a little thicker than I prefer, but they were both good. They prefer cash but will take a credit card and charge 3-percent extra. That said, the entrees are bargain-priced and are served in generous portions. I recently ordered food for myself and a neighbor on a busy Father's Day. I did not order ahead, but it only took 15 minutes to prepare my order. I requested no MSG, and I was told that they do not use any--so that's a big plus for anyone who wants to avoid it. They have all the usual Chinese-American favorites, including their house special that has shrimp, chicken and beef. But the ingredients they use are fresh and high-quality--and that sets them apart from most carry-out restaurants of this type. My only complaint was that of my two orders, they mixed up the entrees--my neighbor was supposed to get the house special, and my husband was supposed to get the chicken and vegetable dish. But even though the entrees were mixed up, everyone was happy with what they received. If I lived closer, Chopsticks (cute name) would be my go-to Chinese-American restaurant.
