Nothing special here came for my free SGV Passport boba drink it was good and tall. Floors were sticky (?) i read that from another yelp review so surprised establishment hasn't cleaned the floors (?) wish them well it's in a corner location not near much with little street parking. Maybe i need to try their soufflé (?)
This was our first time having Japanese souffle pancakes outside of Japan so we were excited to see what we could get here in Southern California after a pretty amazing experience in Kyoto a few years back. Generally speaking, the food was good in a kind of okay atmosphere. They were out of a bunch of things on their menu (including Japanese Omelet and the Air Fried Plant-Based Popcorn Chicken Bowl) which we were really excited about trying...and glancing at the menu today a few weeks after our visit I see these items are still listed as "out of stock." In fact, their menu has 11 items listed that are "out of stock" so maybe they never really have them and should just take them off the menu to not disappoint folks hoping for some of these uniquely Japanese offerings they list. The atmosphere leaves a little to be desired...it's a small space with some cute things to do (like a little pool table) but it does feel a little run down and a bit of a departure from the "clean and cute" vibe you'd expect from a place bringing you Japanese culture. Also, the staff (who may also be the owners) seemed unhappy...never a smile or any kind of indication they were happy you were there. Despite all that the food came out quicker than expected and it was all good. The souffle pancakes were, of course, the star...they may not have been as beautifully presented as what we had in Kyoto, but they tasted good and were VERY fluffy. I thought the Ooling Cheese Foam Tea was good and reminiscent of what I've had at other Japanese-style (yet sans fluffy pancake) bakeries around town. We don't live in Pasadena so probably wouldn't make another special trip to have this and we definitely wish they had more of the "out of stock" items that still exist on their menu...but if you're nearby, and you've never had Japanese souffle pancakes, it's worth stopping in.
Save yourself a trip by not coming to this place at all. Very disappointed experience overall. Food: Curry rice with fried chicken - no flavor at all. No salt, not even curry taste. Interesting. I can only taste the spicy powder on top. Fried chicken portion is good. Drink: Oolong cheese - tea is watery. No tea flavor. Service: purposely ordered ahead of time, staff didn't even see the order until I arrived. Very cold. Since I ordered online, the bathroom doesn't grant me access, I asked the staff, she was very irritated and pointed the bathroom rule to me. She just hates her job obviously. Ambience: it tries to have a fun, cozy environment to encourage people sit and chill. In reality is it's dirty everywhere. I don't even want to touch anything. Maybe it can be justified with a reasonable price, but truth is $13 for the curry and $7 for the drink. Not worth it.
This place is super cute! They had board games and books, made for a cozy vibe. The soufflé pancakes were great. The service was good we didn't wait long for our a drinks and food, ordering was simple.
I had the souffle pancakes here a couple years ago actually and I still think about them today! I really need to go back. They are very fluffy and for me it was really good texture and not too sweet! I wrote a review for another souffle pancake in the area (motto) and they started beef with me just because I said their pancakes were not that fluffy and too sweet for my personal taste lolllll So yeah! I plan to come here again sometime :)
Boba Tea was good, but nothing special compared to other places. The one complaint we had was that the bobas stuck together so the straws were not big enough to go throw. Constantly having to open up your cup to eat some boba was a hassle. It would be nice to have different size options versus one size for everything. We preferred smaller sizes to control sugar intake for young kids and overall health for ourselves. The ambiance was neat with various video games and board games for families to enjoy..
Arrived shortly after they opened on a Sat and we were the only customers there. We ordered the strawberry soufflé and the Woke up late breakfast. Soufflés were delicious: fluffy and the taste was spot on for the strawberry and brûlée. the Woke up late plate comes with one egg, potatoes, sausage and bacon. If you are very hungry don't expect this to fill u up. It's literally one egg, maybe about 12 pieces of small diced potatoes, 3 sausages and very thin pieces of bacon. The drinks were ok. Nothing to brag about. Place could use some cleaning though. The tables were dirty. Given we arrived just after opening I would think nothing should be dirty. But I had to wipe the table myself. Place has some games to keep you occupied. Overall, I've been to other soufflé spots and this place was just ok. Slightly more on the expensive side compared to other places.
I love to go to this cafe from time to time. Sometimes the store sent a coupon code if you signed up. I ordered original soufflé with mango green tea. I also ordered popcorn chicken. Today's soufflé came out like a pancake but I still loved it. Service is ok. Games and books were available. Nice place to hang out.
Lack of cleanliness and service is a big factor to this review. The pancake was ok- but it's hard to enjoy knowing the hygiene at this place is so horrible. Dirt, hair, dust, cob webs everywhere. I can't even- it's like no one ever cleans this cafe. I hate to knock on small businesses but I wish they would just improve the overall cleanliness.
2nd time here and it gets better and better. Love that this is family owned. The cheese foam is oddly delicious. The Hakkaido Milk tea is my go to. Everything is made fresh. A perfect taste of Japanese and Korean treats are to be tasted here. It's a small cafe style but the vibes are here. Limited seating with a couple of tables outdoors. It's a walk up order screen so there is limited interaction with the family. Lots of take out orders are available. Menu is vast. Take your pick. We love it here

Super fluffy soufflé pancakes with no eggy taste. The chocolate mousse that came on the side was good as well. Tea is nothing special.
Kid-friendly with mini pool table, books, some games. Bathroom available for customers. Many of the specialty drinks were sold out at 2:30 p.m. but maybe that's because they are so popular and it's 95 degrees out. Only one staff working and she did not have time to greet us but was working hard the whole time. No a/c inside so it was rather stuffy. We ordered at the touchscreen: a strawberry tea with boba and lychee jelly, a royal milk tea with boba, and a passion fruit tea with boba. The boba was extra chewy and had no flavor and the royal milk tea was missing the milk. The fruit teas were subtle. In any case the drinks did the job of keeping us hydrated to get home on the traffic-filled freeway, so we're grateful for that. **Overall I think I was disappointed in the experience because I had high expectations based on other reviews, but I know there can be off days and would go again if I'm in the area, especially to try the soufflé pancakes people rave about. These pancakes were so rich and delicious! Plenty to share. I was surprised about this one, the cheese sauce is unreal. They warn you before you order that they are made fresh to order and take time to prepare, so just be ready to wait but it's so worth it. read more
What's the chisme on Miss Cheese? Well, I was eager to find out. When it comes to cocktail trends I'm on top of my game but food & tea trends - not so much, so I was thrilled when I received an invite from the awesome Leonard A to join him on a foodie adventure at Miss Cheese. Miss Cheese is a locally owned Boba tea shop that serves special custom drinks, Boba tea, milk tea, fruit tea, cheese tea, Taiyaki, fried snacks, and Japanese Soufflé, which is an egg based fluffy pancake. Their teas come from Taiwan and they don't use any powders in their beverages - only fresh ingredients. There is ample seating indoors in addition to a mini pool table, games, & books to encourage guests to stay, relax, & have fun. We were on a mission, which was to try the Japanese Soufflé. We made our selection at the kiosk. It was a tossup between Oreo and Nutella. In the end Soufflé Nutella won ($15.99). Leonard also got the Nutella Boba Flow ($7.25) - a Nutella smoothie topped with boba. Mango Loves Coconut ($7.25) sounded good, so I went with that. It was a Mango & Coconut smoothie with crystal boba. I ordered it with zero sweetness. I could taste the mango with coconut on the backend. It was good but would be better at 25 - 50% sweetness (and a little rum too!). I had a sip of the Nutella Boba Flow. The tea overpowered the Nutella flavor. (I'd probably rate the drinks a 3 out of 5). The soufflé took about 20 minutes to make so we kikied and spilled the tea while we waited. Luckily, Leonard noticed that the food served to the table next to us come in to-go boxes even though they were dining in, so he requested ours be served on a plate for a better photo op. (It's all about presentation with us Yelpers.) Not only does Leonard write some clever reviews, he also takes some great photos so I picked up a few pointers. He also showed me the proper way to drink boba. You shake it a few times first and sip from the top not the bottom so you don't accidentally inhale a boba through the straw. When the Soufflé Nutella arrived it was nicely presented. It came with a scoop of Nutella and brûlée on the side topped with a drizzle of chocolate sauce and maple syrup. They were different than American pancakes. I could taste the egg but overall it had a nice flavor, especially when topped with the Nutella & brûlée. Leonard mentioned that Filipino Soufflé is fluffier and less eggy. I guess I'll have to find a place to try that next. *Small parking lot behind the café or 2-hour parking on the street. read more

We were craving a sweet dessert after dinner and found this place on a Monday night and it wasn't packed at all! Ordered their original soufflé pancake and got it to-go since we couldn't find free parking. Heads up though it is $1 extra to get it to-go. I'd recommend eating it there for freshness and maximum taste. When we got home, it was a bit flatter than it was in the store. It was still delicious though. Their dining area is sooo cute and so much to do. There are lots of games to play, books to read, and there's even a mini-pool in the middle. Some customers also come here to study since they have wifi available. read more

April 2023 Food/Pricing - $6.99+ for drinks... a bit pricey. On top of that, the drinks tasted watered down. Pretty disappointed. We got Hokkaido milk Tea and Oreo Brulee Matcha Latte. Service/Ambiance - Service was very friendly and drinks were ready pretty quickly. There's an arcade Street Fighter game machine you can occupy yourself with while you're there! Plus a mini billiards table set up. Cute place to visit. Parking - Tough to find street parking during busy times. read more

This place has developed a lot since the pandemic last year. They added many pool board, mini arcade, tall table with a mini library with some book shelf, self ordering Kiosk, a lounge area in addition to a couple tables and chairs! It's pretty cozy here! They have a small park lot for customers at the back and some street parking in the side. The drinks are good and the snacks are great! But I don't like that their air circulation from the kitchen kept keeps blowing out to the lounge area, which caused our eyes to get so dry and almost burning sensation from either the oil or detergent materials that they use in the kitchen. We ended uo leaving early due to the air quality in door. I'd still come back! Hopefully they fix their fan system. read more

My wife and I were craving dessert for dinner, and we know that souffle tends to be quite filling for a dessert. We looked for various souffle pancake places in Pasadena, and found this place to be quite cute and also have a variety of snacks. We stopped here for dinner. I like that Miss Cheese Tea Cafe has a Mario Kart 64 and a Street Fighter, both on free play. It's something fun to pass the time while awaiting for the souffle pancakes to finish making. My wife and I shared a two piece taiyaki (red bean, and nutella), as well as a matcha souffle. We ended up taking the nutella taiyaki home. We ate the red bean taiyaki, which was freshly prepared, and contained mochi. I love freshly prepared taiyaki. The souffle took 20 minutes to make, but felt much quicker due to having games to pass the time. I felt the strawberries to be too sweet and sugary for something like matcha. But the cream and the matcha souffle themselves were great. I loved that the matcha had sweetness with a hint of bittneress, and I loved how soft and fluffy the souffle was. It's OK. Not a grab and go, so don't come in a hurry. Orders take a long time to fulfill, which they say on the signage, 15-20in because it's made fresh... my bad. I just wanted to grab some Taiyaki for a dinner party and scram.... At least it smells good while we wait and there are plenty of games to amuse yourself with. read more

For my birthday I wanted to visit my old hometown of Pasadena, CA. So we decided to take a trip and make a day of it. After we had lunch, we both wanted to get some dessert. She suggested Miss Cheese Tea Cafe. I remember that place from the last time we went to Pasadena. So we decided to go and check it out. Just a heads up guys; they don't have their own parking, only street parking. They are located on the corner of Arroyo Pkwy and Cordova Street. We get there and interior was very colorful and cool hip vibe to it. They DO NOT take cash, only card. You place the order on the tablet and wait for it. We looked at their menu and decided to get: 2 Mango Green Teas, Mango Mountain Soufflé Pancake and Matcha Fever Soufflé Pancake. We waited for a bit, but could tell that it was prepared fresh. When our order was ready, the friendly staff member brought our order to our table. The tea in my personal opinion was really good and refreshing.. You can taste the green tea and the infused Mango flavor. The Mango Mountain Soufflé Pancake was my favorite. I could taste the freshness and the texture of the pancake was spongy. The mango pieces and cream complemented very well overall I. My personal opinion. The Matcha Fever Soufflé Pancake was good as well. The sauce you taste the matcha and the topping of the Strawberries was delicious. Our overall experience was great and the customer service we received from the friendly employee was nice. In my personal opinion, I would recommend Miss Cheese Tea Cafe for their unique menu. We definitely would come and try some of their other items they have. read more
I came here at 8:25 on a Monday and was told they already closed their kitchen meaning that won't make soufflés or any fried snacks (they close at 9). Was a bit disappointed since it said it stops serving it 30 minutes early and I guess I was too late. Anyways was still able to try a snow taiyaki and can say it was pretty satisfying. Light breading with custard in the middle and ice cream on the side. It definitely hit the spot. Hopefully I'll get to try the soufflé next time. Parking is in a parking structure behind the restaurant. There is a few spots that say 30 minute so you'll be Gucci. read more

This is our second time here and it was a lot better then the first! Employees were very nice and friendly! Everything taste delicious and fresh. Done at the moment. So be patient when you order as they do it when you order. Really enjoyed it as they have games and a small pool table. read more
Miss cheese is so fun! It's a gamers dream. They have tons of things for you to look at there's game stations set up at multiple tables. They have traditional games, mini games, video games, and to top it off. They have these bomb, fluffy, crêpe pancakes, drizzled with syrup and topped with candied strawberries. Oh my God they also have awesome milk teas. They have such a cute atmosphere and everything is a family affair. Their whole family works together. The mom makes the pancakes fresh. They have to wait about 15 minutes but oh boy it's worth the wait. They also have savory food available as well. the really cool one stop shop you can eat food play video games play board games. It's such a unique restaurant love it can't wait to try the Matcha pancakes. read more

After hearing so much about this Café and the delicious desserts they're serving, I had to pull up and give them a try. Immediately greeted when we walked in, the Café was packed with moms who bring their kids for afternoon outings. The energy was very warm and upbeat. I looked at the menu, and they serve so many great items, but I came in for one in particular: the Japanese Soufflé Pancakes. These dessert pancakes are amazing. Fluffy, creamy, sweet, and the perfect amount of powdered sugar. I added Nutella and strawberries, which was a great combination. A lot of rich flavors that all came together. Every bite melted in my mouth. I also got a Thai Iced Tea which was decent. Overall, I have to say my first experience with these pancakes were tasty and delicious, and I'm looking forward to coming back and trying other items on their menu. read more

Came in on a quiet Monday afternoon to have a quick lunch and do some work. Pros - service is quick and efficient, with kiosk ordering and a visible queue system up to see how long it will take to get your food - (slightly pricey) but delicious drinks! - fun games and generally a good hang out spot Cons - coconut bowl was clearly microwaved, with tough chicken and does not come with any vegetables (you have to add as a side) - wifi is not the best Stop by for a quick drink but would skip out on the bowl read more
We were driving by so thought we'd stop and try the soufflé. We got it with strawberries. I think ordering the original would have been fine. Takes about 15 minutes to prepare. Such a delightful place to go for drinks and dessert. I took my kids here for some strawberry soufflé pancakes and taiyaki with Nutella. YUMMY!!! The soufflé takes about 20 minutes to make, but it was totally worth the wait! Airy and moist at the same time, the soufflé tasted as delicious as it looked. My kids enjoyed their Taiyaki with Nutella and the spread was generous! While we waited, my kids and I played games on their Infinity table, and had fun with a little game of mini pool. There are quite a few other games to keep you entertained. This is definitely on my list of must stop places whenever I drive back to Pasadena for a visit. read more

I have come here on several occasions when I am craving something sweet and yummy. I have also come here on a date or two because they have great drinks, great treats, and the environment is quiet but fun enough to keep things interesting in case there is nothing to talk about. They have many table games, including a very strange video game, and fun arcade fighting game. This is my controversial opinion but I will stand by it because I have tried both places and I truly 100% feel that this place although has a smaller menu is 10x more delicious on their smoothies and souffle pancakes. I love this place way more than Motto Tea House. The pancakes are fluffier and crafted with care not rushed or too chewy. The smoothies are consistently blended just right on their sweetness levels and have such refreshing great taste, not watery and clumpy. Overall highly recommend this place if you want great Soufflé Pancakes paired with such refreshingly delicious smoothies. They also offer you free popcorn if you check in which is surprisingly fresh. Try it for yourself at your own risk because you will become addicted! read more
We came here for their signature soufflé with vanilla ice cream and unsweetened oolong tea. This place is a bit away from the downtown. They have a private parking garage behind their shop without a parking fee. We didn't wait too long for the soufflé. They made it fresh and warm. It's a perfect combo with ice cream! Then I crave tea without topping and sweetness. They did an ideal job! So tea and soufflé are the perfect combos! Remember to check in Yelp and get 15% off. read more
Wanted to try Cheese Tea while I was in California, and this place was great! It is a cute cafe with lots of places to sit and board games to play while you wait. You can either order at a kiosk or at the register. Estimated wait time was about 10 minutes, and I'd say that was pretty accurate. Highly impressed by this place I see why it's so popular and has so many reviews. The customer service was excellent everyone was so kind and even though the place was busy the wait was not too bad (even on a Saturday). My favorite item was the Strawberry Sunset drink wow it surpassed my expectations. Refreshing, yet creamy, reminded me of Strawberry short cake and the tart and sweet flavors were very complimentary to each other. The Souffle pancakes were also very yummy and not as sweet as I expected. I intend to go back and try the other flavors, but loved how airy and light they are. Overall everything was very tasty and I look forward to trying different flavors on my next visit. :) read more

The store is located on the corner on Arroyo Parkway. It's not a very big cafe but decent size as I noticed people studying and hanging out. They are known for their souffle but it takes awhile to make so I tried the custard taiyaki and garden milk tea. Both delicious. The taiyaki was made to a perfect crispy exterior and chewy on the inside with a good amount of custard filling. It was great. read more

Milk tea here is decent, slushes are good. 100% sweet is *really* sweet, so bear that in mind. Lots of topping choices, touchscreen menu ordering system. We finally ordered a souffle pancake, tho....it's huge! My partner and I shared it easily. Ours came with Nutella and creme brulee on the side. We added strawberries, and thank goodness because the AMT of Nutella they gave us was huge! Practically half of one of the small jars you can buy at the store. A great value for your wallet, but maybe not so much for your blood sugar it was delicious, but definitely needed some fruit to cut the sweetness (yes, just more sweet, but way less sweet than the Nutella!) The souffle didn't take very long to come out - maybe 20 minutes? I think their sign says up to 45 minutes. They had a full house when we were there, too, but only two other tables w souffles. 45 mins must be for weekends when they're slammed. We went on a weekday. They have convenient free parking in the garage behind the shop, but only if you can find a space, which is easier on weekdays than weekends, of course. They also have a bathroom. read more

Parking: Free 2 hour street parking and garage parking! Food: Love the variety of desserts and savory snacks offered here. The menu is reflective of a boba shop but I feel like people come here more so for the desserts. Some of the unique menu items are the fluffy soufflé pancakes and the taiyaki. My 2 friends and I shared an order of sweet potato fries, 4 taiyaki, and 1 matcha soufflé pancakes (comes with 3 pancakes). We were so full! Ambiance/Service: Lots of seating available and pretty empty on a Saturday afternoon. Noise level was pretty quiet. I felt that service could have been a bit more attentive, as there wasn't really anyone at the cashier counter when we tried to order, so we had to use the iPad. But our food came out rather quickly though! Soufflé pancakes and taiyaki took about 20 min, fries came out within 5 min. read more
As we craved for the lava boba soufflé, we walked in to this cozy looking shop in Pasadena. Very convenient parking , atmosphere was nice, colors are bright and welcoming, some of the current popular music being played, volume was enough to enjoy as background music. Next to the register said soufflé pancakes are made fresh to order. Expect a 15-20 minutes wait. I ordered the soufflé original, cashier was friendly. After about 2 minutes the order surprisingly came out. Unfortunately I feel mislead . This was not fresh. It was not hot, but rather cold..Tasted kind of flavorless, similar texture to your store bought angel food cake. The only somewhat saving grace was the milk tea whip cream. This is probably my first kind-of negative food review. But I'm being honest about my true experience and hopefully I will taste a better boba soufflé next time if I'm going back. read more

After a filling dinner at Bone Kettle, to shake off the food coma my SO and I embarked on a 10 minute walk to Miss Cheese Tea Cafe - which, imo, was a dark, less trafficked route which was a little unsettling LOL so maybe just drive since there is so much street parking on a Monday at 7PM (MLK holiday). There was also no wait. Ordered at the register to get our Yelp Check-In of 15% off. Prices below are pre-discount. DRINKS - Both drinks were 50% sugar, less ice. Too watery and bland, imo. - Oreo Brulee Matcha Latte ($5.75) - Oreo bits were nice, but barely any boba and didn't have a creamy consistency I would expect from a Brulee drink. - Mango Green Tea ($5.49) - mashed mango is unique! Although also bland, so maybe I'd get it at 100% sweetness next time. They also forgot to put in the topping I ordered and it was also incorrect (ordered crystal boba but they put "coconut jelly"), but it was an easy fix lol. Taiyaki - At 2 for $4.49, and filled to the brim with filling and just enough of crispy breading - it was so, so worth!! So yummy. Got one with cream, and the other with red bean. Eat them together and you won't regret it!!! read more
Meh. I've been here thrice and tried something different each time, and I wasn't impressed by anything. The drinks are definitely on the sweet side, so be conscious of that before visiting. Even the more basic drinks seem to have a lot of added sugar. I also thought the boba was mediocre and overcooked. The Thai spice chicken wings have a kick, but the quality of the meat isn't the best. I think this is typical of boba places, but I still recommend skipping this. I also came here to try their strawberry soufflé pancakes, which also ended up being a disappointment. The only flavor that appealed to my friend and me was the strawberry, but when we opened our takeout box we regretted the decision. Just some plain, deflated-looking pancakes with a scoop of strawberries on the side. Not worth the money in the least. Unfortunately I can't see myself visiting this place again, especially with so many other amazing boba places nearby. read more

I got my drink made 2 times and it still wasn't sweet. I put 100% sweetness, regular ice and asked for soy milk. My husband even requested to change the drink because I feared it was going to turn out the same the second time, and it did. I really wanted to like this place but I wouldn't recommend for the boba drinks. Truly disappointed read more

My husband and I have never tried a Japanese pancake and we loved it. I also ordered a matcha milk tea for myself and it was delicious, I never knew you could change the sweetness to your drink and I really enjoyed that because most boba places are too sweet. The inside of this place was really nice, and the lady was super kind to us. Next time I will for sure bring my son he will love it here! read more

Pretty good! I got the mango tornado with cheese foam and light boba! I meant light as in less boba but they gave me lychee boba (?) instead? Not sure if it was a mistake or if they have something called light boba? Mango was sweet and the yogurt was a little tart, cheese foam was light and frothy. This place is open late so good for boba night cravings haha. Avg service and ambiance. read more

our frying powder contains wheat flour, so its not a gluten free chicken
Any sugarfree options?
Souffles will have sugar baked into them. But the drinks can have zero, and taiyaki if they choose plain can also be sugarless. Fried food does not have sugar, and soufflés can be asked for no sugar I think!
Why can't we order the soufflé pancakes through this app?
