Nothing special here came for my free SGV Passport boba drink it was good and tall. Floors were sticky (?) i read that from another yelp review so surprised establishment hasn't cleaned the floors (?) wish them well it's in a corner location not near much with little street parking. Maybe i need to try their soufflé (?)

This was our first time having Japanese souffle pancakes outside of Japan so we were excited to see what we could get here in Southern California after a pretty amazing experience in Kyoto a few years back. Generally speaking, the food was good in a kind of okay atmosphere. They were out of a bunch of things on their menu (including Japanese Omelet and the Air Fried Plant-Based Popcorn Chicken Bowl) which we were really excited about trying...and glancing at the menu today a few weeks after our visit I see these items are still listed as "out of stock." In fact, their menu has 11 items listed that are "out of stock" so maybe they never really have them and should just take them off the menu to not disappoint folks hoping for some of these uniquely Japanese offerings they list. The atmosphere leaves a little to be desired...it's a small space with some cute things to do (like a little pool table) but it does feel a little run down and a bit of a departure from the "clean and cute" vibe you'd expect from a place bringing you Japanese culture. Also, the staff (who may also be the owners) seemed unhappy...never a smile or any kind of indication they were happy you were there. Despite all that the food came out quicker than expected and it was all good. The souffle pancakes were, of course, the star...they may not have been as beautifully presented as what we had in Kyoto, but they tasted good and were VERY fluffy. I thought the Ooling Cheese Foam Tea was good and reminiscent of what I've had at other Japanese-style (yet sans fluffy pancake) bakeries around town. We don't live in Pasadena so probably wouldn't make another special trip to have this and we definitely wish they had more of the "out of stock" items that still exist on their menu...but if you're nearby, and you've never had Japanese souffle pancakes, it's worth stopping in.

Save yourself a trip by not coming to this place at all. Very disappointed experience overall. Food: Curry rice with fried chicken - no flavor at all. No salt, not even curry taste. Interesting. I can only taste the spicy powder on top. Fried chicken portion is good. Drink: Oolong cheese - tea is watery. No tea flavor. Service: purposely ordered ahead of time, staff didn't even see the order until I arrived. Very cold. Since I ordered online, the bathroom doesn't grant me access, I asked the staff, she was very irritated and pointed the bathroom rule to me. She just hates her job obviously. Ambience: it tries to have a fun, cozy environment to encourage people sit and chill. In reality is it's dirty everywhere. I don't even want to touch anything. Maybe it can be justified with a reasonable price, but truth is $13 for the curry and $7 for the drink. Not worth it.

This place is super cute! They had board games and books, made for a cozy vibe. The soufflé pancakes were great. The service was good we didn't wait long for our a drinks and food, ordering was simple.

I had the souffle pancakes here a couple years ago actually and I still think about them today! I really need to go back. They are very fluffy and for me it was really good texture and not too sweet! I wrote a review for another souffle pancake in the area (motto) and they started beef with me just because I said their pancakes were not that fluffy and too sweet for my personal taste lolllll So yeah! I plan to come here again sometime :)

Boba Tea was good, but nothing special compared to other places. The one complaint we had was that the bobas stuck together so the straws were not big enough to go throw. Constantly having to open up your cup to eat some boba was a hassle. It would be nice to have different size options versus one size for everything. We preferred smaller sizes to control sugar intake for young kids and overall health for ourselves. The ambiance was neat with various video games and board games for families to enjoy..

Arrived shortly after they opened on a Sat and we were the only customers there. We ordered the strawberry soufflé and the Woke up late breakfast. Soufflés were delicious: fluffy and the taste was spot on for the strawberry and brûlée. the Woke up late plate comes with one egg, potatoes, sausage and bacon. If you are very hungry don't expect this to fill u up. It's literally one egg, maybe about 12 pieces of small diced potatoes, 3 sausages and very thin pieces of bacon. The drinks were ok. Nothing to brag about. Place could use some cleaning though. The tables were dirty. Given we arrived just after opening I would think nothing should be dirty. But I had to wipe the table myself. Place has some games to keep you occupied. Overall, I've been to other soufflé spots and this place was just ok. Slightly more on the expensive side compared to other places.

I love to go to this cafe from time to time. Sometimes the store sent a coupon code if you signed up. I ordered original soufflé with mango green tea. I also ordered popcorn chicken. Today's soufflé came out like a pancake but I still loved it. Service is ok. Games and books were available. Nice place to hang out.

Lack of cleanliness and service is a big factor to this review. The pancake was ok- but it's hard to enjoy knowing the hygiene at this place is so horrible. Dirt, hair, dust, cob webs everywhere. I can't even- it's like no one ever cleans this cafe. I hate to knock on small businesses but I wish they would just improve the overall cleanliness.

2nd time here and it gets better and better. Love that this is family owned. The cheese foam is oddly delicious. The Hakkaido Milk tea is my go to. Everything is made fresh. A perfect taste of Japanese and Korean treats are to be tasted here. It's a small cafe style but the vibes are here. Limited seating with a couple of tables outdoors. It's a walk up order screen so there is limited interaction with the family. Lots of take out orders are available. Menu is vast. Take your pick. We love it here

Super fluffy soufflé pancakes with no eggy taste. The chocolate mousse that came on the side was good as well. Tea is nothing special.

Strawberry tea, passion fruit tea, royal milk tea without milk

Kid-friendly with mini pool table, books, some games. Bathroom available for customers. Many of the specialty drinks were sold out at 2:30 p.m. but maybe that's because they are so popular and it's 95 degrees out. Only one staff working and she did not have time to greet us but was working hard the whole time. No a/c inside so it was rather stuffy. We ordered at the touchscreen: a strawberry tea with boba and lychee jelly, a royal milk tea with boba, and a passion fruit tea with boba. The boba was extra chewy and had no flavor and the royal milk tea was missing the milk. The fruit teas were subtle. In any case the drinks did the job of keeping us hydrated to get home on the traffic-filled freeway, so we're grateful for that. **Overall I think I was disappointed in the experience because I had high expectations based on other reviews, but I know there can be off days and would go again if I'm in the area, especially to try the soufflé pancakes people rave about. I appreciated the manager reaching out to me merely hours after I posted this review initially--thank you. **

What type of flour is used for the fluffy pancakes ?are they gluten free?

    Gluten free popcorn chicken?

our frying powder contains wheat flour, so its not a gluten free chicken

    Any sugarfree options?

Souffles will have sugar baked into them. But the drinks can have zero, and taiyaki if they choose plain can also be sugarless. Fried food does not have sugar, and soufflés can be asked for no sugar I think!

Why can't we order the soufflé pancakes through this app?

Probably because they take 15 mins to make and need to be eaten right away.

What's the usual wait time on a Saturday or Sunday morning?

usually the wait on Sat and Sunday morning is between 20 to 30min for the souffle pancakes,to skip the waiting time, you can always call us to place an order on the phone in advance.

What's happening here today (Saturday)? The line's half way down the block.

Line is long and wait is long but very worth it

What dairy free milk do you have? Do you have almond milk, soy milk, coconut milk, oat milk?

Yes, we do, tiramisu ceylon Milk tea, classic earl grey milk tea, they are all no diary.

What type of milk do you use for your milk teas? Do you have dairy free option?

Yes! We do have dairy free option :)

Are they open now? Everyone keeps posting about it

Hi Mary, we are temporarily closed before our grand opening(next Tuesday), and we will have buy 1 get 2nd 50% promotion for our grand opening. Please always check our opening hours on yelp before visiting us. Thank you for your support and see you…

Yes it is. We use Earl Grey as the milk tea base :)

It actually didn't take too long for our order to arrive, which we were surprised they are very quick and efficient with service! Although, the food was very underwhelming. California Benedict was pretty basic, or just the bare minimum actually. It was okay, ingredients don't really stand out. My bf's country fried steak, he was disappointed that the steak didn't even look fried. He wasn't really a fan of his order lol. I thought the potatoes were pretty decent, although I wish they were cut smaller into like breakfast potatoes. They were so chunky, but also wish they could be fried more. Overall, I feel like we chose the wrong items from this place lol, but these were the items highlighted on the Yelp page? Maybe it didn't help that we were seated next to the kitchen or a cart full of dirty dishes bc I just kept smelling that as we were eating.

We chose outdoor since it was such a nice day out. They have all of their desserts on display in the case, so you can peruse the options and see what looks good. So many of the desserts looked good, like the matcha yuzu chiffon crepe cake or the rose and lychee crepe cake. We ordered via the kiosk and got the mango sunshine souffle pancake ($16.50) and well as a couple drinks. My drink was the white peach lemon jasmine bliss ($6.25), with 50% sweetness and less ice. Even though there are signs everywhere saying that it takes 15-20 minutes for the souffle pancakes to be cooked, ours came out super quickly, in 5 minutes or so. We got it with the sauce on the side, but I regret doing that as I saw others getting it with the sauce on top and it was beautiful. The pancake was super fluffy and a bit eggy as well. We all really enjoyed it with the mango sauce. I made the mistake of eating the pancake first before trying a sip of my tea. The pancake was pretty sweet, so I could barely taste my drink, but I think it was good? I could taste a bit of the lemon but definitely not the white peach, which is a lighter flavor. I got a slice of their Hokkaido cheese cake roll for $7 to go and had it the next day. It was okay but definitely a bit pricy for what you get. I'd love to come back to try their other desserts and pancakes!

The cafe itself was pretty small with 3 small tables, 1 big table, and bar seatings with charging ports. The bathroom was closed and it was really warm inside. I couldn't see myself studying or staying too long, which may be for the best since parking is tricky and street parking has a 2 hour limit. An okay experience, but I don't see myself coming back.

Despite its popularity, I find the food to be fairly average. Much of it tastes like it's made from standard commercial food-service ingredients rather than prepared fresh. On the positive side, the prices are reasonable, the dining room has a pleasant atmosphere, and the staff is generally attentive. Overall, it's a decent neighborhood breakfast restaurant - nothing particularly memorable, but nothing especially disappointing either. The Reyn Special - 3/5. A classic breakfast plate with eggs, bacon, hash browns, and banana bread. The eggs and bacon are fairly average, although the bacon tends to be overcooked and dry. The standout is the hash browns. They're cooked with a nicely browned, crispy crust while still remaining fairly moist inside. The real highlight, however, is the banana bread. It tastes homemade and is easily the best item on the plate. Crepes - 1/5. This dish comes as two separate plates: one with the ricotta-filled crepes and another with eggs, sausage, bacon, and your choice of fries or tater tots. Unfortunately, the crepes are the weakest part of the meal. The ricotta-filled crepes don't taste freshly made and instead resemble a pre-made food-service product that's simply reheated before serving. Both the crepe and ricotta filling have a generic flavor with noticeable artificial notes. You can choose either banana or strawberry topping, but both sauces taste overly processed and artificial. The accompanying breakfast plate is noticeably better. I chose the tater tots, which were well prepared - crispy on the outside while remaining soft inside. The bacon, however, was again overcooked and dry, making it tough to chew. The sausage was acceptable but unremarkable. Scrambled Supreme - 2.5/5. Despite the name, this is essentially an omelet. The eggs have a mild, neutral flavor, and the fillings are okay but don't stand out. Coffee - 2/5. The coffee is classic diner coffee in every sense. It's somewhat watery, heavily roasted, and finishes with a flat, slightly bitter aftertaste. It's neither particularly good nor particularly bad - just standard coffee that does the job. Overall, The Reyn succeeds as a comfortable, affordable breakfast spot with a pleasant atmosphere and friendly service. While the food is average, and several dishes rely on ingredients that taste commercially prepared rather than freshly made.

When I ordered a matcha, the employee asked if regular milk was okay, and I said oat milk was fine. However, I was never informed that oat milk was an additional $1 charge. She also never asked what size I wanted and then told me to pay. When I looked at the screen, I saw that the total was $7 for a large. I only wanted to spend around $5-$6, so I asked if I could get a small instead. I was surprised to see that the price was still the same. When I asked why, she then explained that oat milk was a $1 up charge and she didn't charge me on the large order for oatmilk. I don't mind paying the extra dollar, but I feel customers should be informed about an additional charge before being charged for it. Also, if getting a large was actually the better deal, I would have appreciated being told that. What made the interaction more frustrating was that the employee seemed distracted and dismissive while her coworker was talking to her. I ended up getting the small, even though I was confused about the pricing. The matcha itself was good, but unfortunately, because of the customer service experience, I don't think I'll be returning. I don't expect anything special--just clear communication about pricing and to be asked what size I'd like before being charged.

The photos of the food did not sell it to me, so I was pleasantly surprised to see the food looked amazing in person. We saw neighboring tables have steamed hams, burritos, and chili cheese fries, and everything looked and smelled fantastic! I'm not a quesadilla guy, but the birria quesadilla is solid! It comes with a green and an orange dipping sauce. We found the orange a bit sweet, but the green one was great! We also got the mango habanero shrimp ceviche. When they tell you it's spicy, take heed. It was legit spicy and had me sweating and pooping fire! My mistake was eating spoonfuls of it and not having it with chips. There are a few tables within and outside of the restaurant. Ordering is quick and easy at the counter, and the food is made freshly. Fun decor surrounds you, and the vibes of the staff are light and positive. Since that day, I have had a chance to return to try the pastrami breakfast burrito. She recommended to try it with pickles and mustard, and it was a great combination! It wasn't the best pastrami breakfast burrito I've had, but it was certainly filling. I wasn't hungry for hours! Come to King's for solid food offerings, fun atmosphere, and one of the friendliest staffs around!
