We had a delightful Wednesday evening here. The place is very cozy and somewhat formal inside like a French brassiere. The biggest highlight was the super attentive service despite the World Cup match broadcasting between Mexico and Czech Republic in which 3 goals were scored. The French soup was bold and rich in flavor. Everyone enjoyed their entrees which were well flavored and savory. The desserts were made in house and tasted amazing.

Mistral refers to a strong, cold northwesterly wind that blows through the Rhône River Valley from southern France into the Mediterranean mainly in winter. There is a well worn, old school feel and look with wood paneling, glass chandeliers, touch of l'art deco. Nice little bar that stocks extensive liquor. 0) Feuilleté au Fromage: Amuse Bouche of a small cheese puff pastry 1) Jumbo Lump Crab Cake: Timbale of moist, fibrous crab meat bound with what may be mayonnaise and bread crumbs, then baked. Sauce seems to be Béchamel with a bit of Dijon mustard. Accompanied by al dente asparagus and ribbon of braised leeks. 2) Confit de Canard à l'Orange: Leg & thigh of duck cooked in its own juices to almost falling off the bone. Touch of Grand Marnier and orange juice is added to pan drippings of the duck to create the finishing sauce. Haricots Verts/green beans, Pommes Purées/mashed potatoes 1-2) Les Cadrans de Lassègue, Saint Émilion Grand Cru 2022: My guess is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot deep red wine with full blackberry, dark plum, blueberry. Bit of barnyard, humus, good acidity & touch of bitter tannins balanced by smooth sweetness. Since it rested only 3 years, the tannins haven't had time to mellow out more. 3) Soufflé au Chocolat: Because it was in a mini soufflé dish, the high heat penetrated more intensely to create a drier texture, more like a brownie. Very thick Crème Chantilly which added to the enjoyment. 3a) I asked if there were a Banyuls, a Southern French port like liqueur that pairs well with chocolate, but was suggested a Graham Tawny Port. Light, sprightly, sweet smooth with touch of dates, grape, alcohol, it paired well with the Soufflé. 4) Mignardise is a petit Chocolate Truffle. The food here is good, but you have to eat at the bar to be under the wing of Dana, bartender nonpareil. She is a seasoned veteran who knows her trade especially in how to treat customers. She is a natural being able to read customers and think proactively for a better customer experience. Kudos to her understated yet powerful performance beyond the call of duty. Overall, 4+ stars due to Dana's ministrations.

Service was great, from valet parking to obtaining a table as a walk in group. We were lucky as we arrived during peek times of the day: lunch time. Staff was attentive often refilling our waters and checking in with us. I ordered the king salmon entree. It included a nice sized salmon the top layer of the salmon had a smoked crispy texture to it; it was amazing. It also had a side of mash potatoes broccoli and veggies. 5/5! I tried my friend's escargot and the sauce on top of it is "chef's kiss" delicious, rich like a pesto taste to it. 5/5 I would definitely get this appetizer next time. Also, the servings here are not your typical large dish; so FYI you may not get full. We ended well with the chocolate soufflé that had a side of whipped cream 5/5! This restaurant is definitely a fancy place and I highly suggest you book them for your next special event.

Mistral has been in Sherman Oaks for years and seems to be one of their staple restaurants so I was excited to try it. It's a tiny little spot with a very cozy darkly lit dining room with great ambiance. It's packed with people from the time they open for dinner until they close. The service is fantastic. From the moment we entered, until we left we were met with amazing hospitality. Our drinks were constantly full, fresh silverware was being brought out, and we were cracking jokes. Unfortunately that's where the positive review ends. The food left a lot to be desired, accompanied with high prices. We started with the French onion soup and escargot. Both were okay but not something I'd want again. For our entrees we got the pappardelle porcini mushroom pasta, New York steak, and panko crusted John Dory. I was only able to have a couple bites of the pasta before I had to stop because there was something off about the sauce and it left an extremely strong aftertaste. The New York came in a very thick cut that resembled a filet and was very tough. However, the fries that accompanied the steak was very good and tasted like McDonald fries. The fish was tasty due to the panko crust but overall dry. The only real winners were the chocolate soufflé and the crème brûlée we got for dessert.

Mistral serves some of the best french cuisine in LA, excellent service (Danny, our server, was awesome), classic decor, formal white table cloth but yet, the place feels casual and comfortable, we love it. 5 stars, highly recommended! You have to try the escargots, duck confit and chocolate soufflé!

So it really is tough because it's between a 3 and a 4 for review. The food is good, but it isn't as good as the prices would make you think. Some of the service is great, but our server was just okay. I tried to ask questions about wine and he just said it's good. Had to ask to learn soup du jour, etc. I had the mussels. Good, not great. Fries were great though. Started with the crab cake and it was good though the sauce is a bit too mustardy so it took away from the crab. Really enjoyed the heirloom tomato salad. The soufflé was something I wouldn't waste time on again. For me not to finish a dessert is unheard of, but I left some behind. It's very very loud but it's fun. Overpriced though.

Our 61st wedding anniversary dinner was reserved for 5:00 pm. It was the first time for my husband but I have been at Mistral several times. The valet was the truly best. I need a steady hand. We were greeted and taken to our reserved table. A delicious hot puff was very rich and bite sized. I selected a blood orange margarita. All good. I wanted French Onion Soup that was the best. I haven't been so lucky elsewhere. It was hot and cheesy. Crunchy buns and sweet butter was presented. I also ordered burrata with tomatoes and peaches that the server split because he felt it was too much for me. He was right. My husband ordered duck confit for dinner. I selected angel hair pasta perfect!!! Desserts were peach cobbler and vanilla ice cream. For me, chocolate fondue. The servers cleaned crumbs and refilled water quietly. Beautiful bar. Next table was rather loud. I had hoped that when their food was served that the ladies would quiet down while eating. Oh well.

A cozy Chicago/European bistro feel to this classic & beloved L.A. eatery with black & white tile floors, and cozy tables. Fine white tablecloth dining and fine service at reasonable prices. No tiny-taste portions here, and it never disappoints. Be sure to try the green soup. You can tell that Ownership has its eyes on every detail up to and including the wonderful whimsical artwork on the big wall by the bar. Had the grilled salmon done perfectly with mixed vegetables that were sauteed and tasty and the broccoli soup. Delicious.

Food, service, ambiance: 100/10 WOW! We were blown away when we came here for a date night. My husband and I were greeted with the warmest welcome, seated right away, and tended to like no other restaurant we've been to in Los Angeles, or any place ever in fact! For appetizers we started with the Imported from Puglia Burrata dish which came with arugula, peaches, and tomatoes and it was the perfect way to start the evening. We followed that up with the escargot: mind you we have only eaten escargot at one other place, and we were pleasantly surprised at how delicious theirs were, will for sure order again! For dinner we split the crispy skin Branzino and some potatoes au gratin and it did not disappoint. For dessert we had an affogato and the chocolate soufflé. The perfect evening, the best food, and a romantic date night. Our server Luis H. went above and beyond, and we are so grateful he made our dining experience one to remember. If you are in the valley, this little hidden gem is a must! We will most definitely be back :) read more

This place is so classy and elegant. Why haven't I been here in a long time? I'm breaking my sobriety with a glass of French champagne! We ordered gazpacho, shrimp scampi and a Tapia Brothers salad with tomato's and cucumber. Our waiter Daniel is FANTASTIC!! The owner came by the tables and I told him how delightful the service is. Our sorbet dessert was amazing too. What a wonderful restaurant this is!! read more

If there was less than one star, I would happily give it to this restaurant. We went there to celebrate my brother's birthday expecting an enjoyable time. We ordered drinks ... took the waiter one hour to bring. We ordered another round of drinks but ended up cancelling after another looooong wait. The food was shabby with no taste, just texture. On top of this, an over crowded small patio with people crammed in. In all, they basically ruined our occasion. A terrible experience. Will never patronize this place again. read more

Pretty decent French experience. Food was a bit pricey and not too memorable. You're mainly paying for the atmosphere because it feels a little like you're dining in France. Bring some cash to pay for valet because it's difficult to find street parking around the area. The neighborhood next to the restaurant require parking permits. read more

SO...we made a reservation well in advance for Dec 24, price fixed 135 plus whatever drinks would be, 6:30 the ONLY time available. We had been there before and the food/service was good, we had also recommended to friends and customers BUT this time was different. On our arrival we were greeted and ushered back past the seated eating guests in the "main" room, through the busy kitchen and out in the covid era dressed up parking lot to the far area (see picture). We asked the (owner?) "but we made a reservation, why are we back out here" The man said we did not say we wanted the MAIN dining room...but we did not know there was a option, nor were we told so, he just said "well this is what we have". We should have taken a hint and left but tried to make the best of it (big mistake). The servers tried and the waiter we had was good but we noted we really we isolated and looking into the main room there were tables. Ok so the drinks were good-two martinis, the appetizers were small but ok, I ordered a John Dory but was later told they were out but could substitute Halibut, ok I said and we then ordered two wines. Up comes the MAIN course and I was stunned (see picture) maybe they had made a mistake, the fish looked ok but at 135 a dish the "vegetables" looked sad. I asked one waiter and he didn't know, another (head waiter?) appeared and asked what the problem was? I said what is that about? (the lonely asparagus) he said "a asparagus" I said seriously one asparagus, 3 bits of carrots and one bit of cauliflower...really? He could solved things by saying "I am so sorry let me fix this, someone made a mistake" but he shrugged and said "that's what it is" and walked away basically saying screw you. I asked for the manager/owner and he appeared. One I pointed out the plate, two I asked WHY that guy treated me like dirt. The man would not acknowledge there was any issue with the plate nor any problem with other guy. He would only offer to replace the plate. We gave up, he gave up he asked us to leave we did. Bottom line I know staff is special NEWS; the owner called my wife and asked why didn't we pay. She told him he asked us to leave but she offered to pay whatever AND HE SAID NO plus I heard a waiter ask"what about paying" he responded "no they just leave". Now the guy responded at google saying "dine and dash". read more

The food here is super fresh and amazing. One of the best restaurants in Sherman oaks. We order the crab cake which we wish came with 2 unfortunately it was only 1 crab cake that my gf and I shared but the outside was nice as crispy and the inside was super moist definitely a 10/10 For dinner I order the mussels with the cream and wine sauce it just full a flavor and a good portion size. The worst customer service ever. So many of of them running around in that small place & don't speak English. You have to keep flagging them to get bread, water, etc. Bad! Also, the owner has the worst attitude. The bald guy - owner is very rude. Not nice at all. He's very condescending. The diners are mostly seniors - 70 and above. Not a dress up place. Food wise - very bland duck. Not only that it needed salt, it was way over cooked. The escargot was ok - I've had better. The branzino was also ok. French onion soup was way too bland and you can taste it's at least a day old. The steak tartare had so much mayonnaise! Yuck! It was ok back in the days when I had business dinners. I will never come back here. I do not Recommend this place at all. Their food is stuck in the 80's And it's not cheap either. Their price point is way too high for a little joint that does not serve good food. Shame shame. Go next door at Le Petit! read more

I'll start by saying this place is not cheap. With that being said the food is pretty good and the service is really good. In fact the only thing that was a little disappointing was that the owner or possibly the manager was a little short tempered. Anyway the food is what matters. I ordered the steak frites with peppercorn sauce because it was a French restaurant so why not. I was worried the steak was going to be really small but I was surprised it was a good portion and cooked perfectly. We ordered the escargot as an appetizer and it did not disappoint either. The one thing that was surprising was that the lamb chops were pretty bad. They were overcooked and under seasoned. Either that or it was low quality meat. We also ordered some drinks which were all decent nothing amazing. For the desert the lemon tart and chocolate soufflé were really really good. I would have given this restaurant 4 stars but it was really hard to get over how bad the lamb chops were especially for the prices they charge. Not the best French restaurant in LA in fact I prefer A Food Affair for quality of food and overall experience. But it's not bad. read more

It's just before Dine L.A. Week '22. The French Onion Soup always hits as does the Chocolate Soufflé. IMHO Had the best Beef Bourguignon ever in my life. Dessert for Fall features a Pumpkin Tart. Like a pie but better and so nice warm. read more

I went a couple of weeks ago with a friend and this was such an amazing spot! The tuna tartar is amazing, it comes with lettuce that makes every bite taste like a wave of freshness, our amazing server Joe recommended we tried it with bread and let me tell you I did not regret it, we had the pappardelle pasta and the angel hair pasta for the entree and it they were both delicious, I'm not a fan of mushrooms so I would normally not go close to anything that has any but I decided to try it and I finished the whole plate in one sitting, it was amazing and I was already getting full! The angel hair pasta was also delicious, I decided to add the chicken breast and it only made it better. When we were done Joe brought us a chocolate soufflé that was astonishing, I could not eat anymore yet I found myself bot being able to stop, Joe definitely made the experience better with an amazing service and I hope to come back soon! read more

I've been here a few times now, and I've always enjoyed the experiences coming here to the Mistral. The food is incredible, very delicious, and everything tasted so fresh. The service was extremely friendly, not just to our table, but everyone there at the restaurant was having a nice time and chatting with their servers. It looked like some folks were regulars by how warm and open they were chatting with the staff. The ambiance was also very nice and overall it was a great experience. Would love to come back again and try more on their menu. read more

Took the wife here for birthday day and she loved it. It's a throwback place that serves great food, drinks and services. Before we order they brought these cheese puff pastry that were really good. They have full bar that made us great drinks, nice and strong. I had the lamp shank which was amazing and a huge portion. Great place for romantic dinner or just date night with couple or friends. read more

I want to say Thank you Mistral!! I want to thank everyone who was so kind and attentive!! We felt so welcomed!! We had the BEST customer service it made me and my husband feel happy. My husband and I had an AMAZING time! We laughed and ate happily. It was my first time dining at a french restaurant and I must say this was soooo DELICIOUS! I HAD AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE! The ambience is FANTASTIC!!! Wow! The food was extremely flavorful. I love this place. I have learned something about myself in the last couple years. I have had a misconception about "fancy" restaurants. I have avoided many, due to this misconception that they all serve tiny little portions of obscure dishes. I was wrong. Mistral fills up quickly, even during the week. So if you are coming after 6, you need to have a reservation unless you want to chance being turned away. My food choice was the veal loins dish. My friend and I shared and it was enough for us both. The food was so good! The combinations were perfectly paired with the wine they carefully recommended. I will come back here again... and again. read more

Jen and I decided to try this restaurant to celebrate our friend Irina's belated birthday. The restaurant is small and intimate with booths and tables adequately spaced for social distancing. Although it is a little dark to see the menu. The menu is simple and straightforward in nature. We decided to start with the mixed green salad with blue cheese and roasted walnuts. The salad was light and tasty. For the entrees we tried the free range chicken with herbs and dijon mustard sauce, grilled lamb chops with garlic, rosemary thyme and bread crumbs and the 5 oz prime rib eye mignon with maitre d' butter and red wine reduction. All of our entrees were cooked to perfection and very tasty. Lastly, to celebrate Irina's birthday they brought us a complementary chocolate souffle. Additionally, we shared a peach cobbler and washed it down with some wine. read more

I can't think of a single thing that could have been improved! This valley veteran is a gem. My boyfriend & I decided to have an impromptu Thursday afternoon date. The atmosphere is classic brasserie, wood paneling, chandeliers, white linens. We ordered escargot to start & shared the mussels mariniere avec pomme frites. Lots of crusty bread for sopping up the yummy garlic laden sauce. A lovely bottle of Malbec was shared. The real magic is the service. Our server Alex has been there for 22+ years. I had bookmarked this restaurant for such a long time. Finally, had the chance to dine in tonight. Raoul gave us a perfect table!!! The waiter was so attentive. He was constantly checking in on us, so was Raoul. The food was delicious!!! We got the escargot, the shrimp scampi, and the cured salmon for appetizer, and for entree's we got the lamb chop and the swordfish. We were so full!! And very please with the service and food. We were also surprised by two mini complementary soufflés and two dessert wines. The fact that they paid attention to the little things, how I had mentioned that we were celebrating my birthday when reserving the table online means the world to me :) this is what I call a service!! I love this place. Had a chance to visit Sherman oaks. And this place seems like the most popular French restaurant here. It didn't let us down. Food are all tasty. I especially like the pastry, cauliflower with pecans appetizer and chocolate soufflé. I ordered duck leg for entree. It is tasty and with very big portion. Walking in you can see that the restaurant is absolutely charming and beautiful, the food was wonderful too! We started with the onion soup, had grilled salmon and chicken paillard for lunch and finished with the most perfect chocolate soufflé! Everything was delicious, and our sever, Joe, was incredible! I have been going to Mistral for many years now, and have never once been disappointed. My group of friends and I usually save it for special occasions, but sometimes we go just because we love being there. For those of you who love the intimacy of smaller New York restaurants, you'll find that same atmosphere at Mistral. The food is always the best, as is the service---never disappointing. Super reasonably priced and both amazingggg. We thought about ordering another charcuterie board. We also got a bottle of the pinot Gris (skin contact) and it was delicious. I love a skin contact wine so I'm biased but everyone should try them. We also did glasses of the chenin blanc and the carmenere. The chenin blanc was probably my favorite I've had of the many I've tried and the carmenere was super unique. The service was fantastic (shoutout to Isabella) who was helpful and nice. Also super attentive even when it was busy! The outside patio is super nice looking and vibey. String lights and candles on the tables with a chef grilling right as you walk out of the door. I'm dedicated to becoming a regular now and can't wait to try the rest of the menu.

Outside was a better temp and ambiance so we elected for that . I was expecting wood fired pizza, but they didn't have it unfortunately :( Not a lot of food options here, more of a casual place for a glass of wine.. so we got wine and charcuterie and left instead of dinner as planned. The cheese board was honestly depressing, with the bread being the best thing on there. I wish there was more cheese .. It was a cute place, but I felt a bit bamboozled . We were sat next to a bush , basically directly next to another couple, which felt like we were in their conversation. My car got trapped in with the parked when we were ready to leave. Service was mid , not very personable . Not sure I'll be back for dinner , maybe if they got some better food options. But cute for a glass of wine if you are local.

There's music that's lively without being overbearing, and the staff is uniformly friendly. But... You have to order at the bar and, though they have runners to bring your food, you do have to hunt them down for anything after the delivery (extra ketchup, etc). While this isn't my favorite system at my age, to be fair, whatever the owners are saving on staff is reflected in the prices, which are absolutely below most places in the area for food that is good-quality and drinks that are generously poured. So yes, my wife's Espresso Martini was served in a deep-bellied Belgium beer glass, and my whiskey neat was a hefty pour. Yay!! For food, I ordered the Smash Burger, which is served with melted American, grilled onions and the house version of Russian dressing (as well as pickles, which I deleted). The burgers had a nice, smashed crust while remaining juicy, the cheese was properly melted, and the grilled onions had a terrific caramelized sweetness, while the house sauce was very well-balanced: ketchupy and creamy without being too mayonnaise-heavy. A very good smasher. My wife ordered the Big Texan Burger because she wanted cheddar and frizzled onions and BBQ sauce, though she deleted the bacon and pork belly that are normally included. This, too, was a very good burger: cooked to a proper and pleasing medium-rare and well-seasoned, with a good, fresh flavor to the beef. The onion rings were less successful, which are of the beer batter type, but seemed to be a commercial, frozen product. The coating was browned but not crisp, and the flavor was relatively nondescript. We didn't really eat them, and wouldn't order them again. And so, to me, The Tipsy Cow is a bit of a mixed bag: reasonably priced decent food and reasonably priced, generously-poured drinks -- but in a mostly self-serve environment that incrementally loses its appeal in relation to your age and your dining circumstances. Certainly worth a try, but you've gotta be in the right mood.

We ordered a pizza and a salad and it was delicious! Very fresh ingredients. I usually do not like the crust on pizzas but this was so fluffy and light. Really enjoyed it. The service was okay. It took a while to get our food, but the staff was kind.

From the moment I walked into Mistral in Los Angeles, I knew I was in for something special. The restaurant's modern yet cozy ambiance immediately set the stage for what would be a memorable meal. The sleek design, combined with a warm, welcoming atmosphere, made it feel like the perfect place for both a casual dinner or a special celebration. We kicked things off with the Tuna Tartare and the Roasted Bone Marrow. The tuna was pristine--beautifully fresh and light, complemented by an avocado mousse and a refreshing yuzu dressing. The flavors balanced each other perfectly, making each bite feel like a mini celebration of the sea. The bone marrow was equally impressive. Rich and savory, it came with crispy crostini and a refreshing parsley salad, which cut through the richness of the marrow, making for a wonderfully balanced dish. Both appetizers set the tone for the rest of the evening--refined, flavorful, and creatively executed. For my main course, I went with the Pan-Seared Scallops--and I'm so glad I did. These scallops were cooked to perfection: golden on the outside and tender on the inside. The accompanying cauliflower puree was smooth and creamy, with a touch of sweetness that paired beautifully with the natural flavor of the scallops. As an OG friend and customer of Mistral and Henri (OG owner), I am heartbroken to see what the new owners have done to this once solid and successful restaurant. The positive: Dana (bartender extraordinaire), Luis, Alex, and the few familiar faces who were articulately trained by Henri & Raul. The rest: The wine list has declined in quality as has the food which is shocking! I ordered my most favorite lamb chops which used to come with 4 or 5 chops and have consistently been the best in the city. Sadly, I can honestly say my meal last night was one of the worst! The entire dish has been changed and NOT for the better. I was presented with 3 tiny chops that had one bite of meat per bone and a plate of tomato mush. To make the dish even worse, it was far from hot as if the plate sat around waiting for us to finish our first course. The chicken used to come with the most delicious mashed potato's which have been replaced with undercooked butternut squash sticks. No flavor and just ick! To top the evening off, we paid with a very generous gift certificate. It took almost 30 minutes to complete this transaction. Management hasn't trained the staff on their process in handling gift cards yet clearly knew how to sell a very large amount of a gift card! Note to owner(s): PLEASE understand who the Mistral customer is. We have become accustomed to a certain level of "polish" and refinement along with CONSISTENT and favored dishes. Why change what wasn't broken? Your chef has bastardized the Mistral classics! Want to add your chefs touch? Add different items to the menu but please bring the classics back! Additionally, we come to Mistral for a finer dining experience which includes proper pacing. Last nights experience was far from this. We sat unattended for way too long before our order was taken and then our entree's were brought instantly after our appetizer plates were cleared as if we were being rushed. Then 30 minutes to close out the check. NOT OKAY and embarrassing for the server. The ONLY positive part of our evening at Mistral last night was seeing and being so warmly welcomed by the original Mistral employees. What a fantastic group of hospitality professionals. read more

Even though my husband and I only visit, and don't live in, Sherman Oaks, this is one of the restaurants that we would say was good, but perhaps a bit overpriced for what it is. We made a reservation a few days in advance, and went to eat here on a Thursday, hoping that it wouldn't be too crowded. We were seated upon arriving, and the waiter was very friendly and hospitable. We had a nice bottle of dry white wine, and our appetizers were on our table less that 7 minutes after ordering it. My husband ordered fillet Mignon, which they are known for I believe, and they asked very specific instructions on how he wanted it cooked, as well as how I wanted my new york. They brought the food within a reasonable amount of time, and kept returning to our table to see what we needed. The service is truly outstanding, but while the food was good, I can't say it was great. That, in addition to the prices, are what made me give 3 stars. There is nothing bad about this place, and they strive to make a very good impression. I just don't believe it is reasonably priced for what you get, which is essentially a few steak options, and not many else. read more

If you are looking for a classy, welcoming, and absolutely stunning dining experience, Mistral is the place to go! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm hospitality and an ambiance that was both elegant and inviting. The food was nothing short of incredible. We started with the escargot, which was perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor, and the beef tartare, which was equally delightful. The beet salad was another standout - fresh, vibrant, and simply fantastic. For our mains, I had the John Dory, and let me tell you, it was so delicious I practically licked the plate clean! My husband had the duck confit, and it was a perfect balance of sweet and savory - tender, rich, and absolutely divine. Every dish was beautifully presented and tasted even better than it looked. Have been a fan of their food for (eek) almost 20 years. I miss their lobster ravioli, But I have NEVER had a bad meal here. The waiters are fantastic, attentive, charming and informative. The wine selection good, but the bartender pours a real nice drink. A tad pricey, but Sherman Oaks is pretty high anyway. Raoul, the maitre' de, is FABULOUS! He's funny and witty. Only problem is noise. All wood makes it very LOUD, so if you want intimate, arrive early. After 7pm they get busy and loud. But for the food & service they offer, it's worth the annoyance. I recommend Mistral's without reservation (a little restaurant humor). The complaint someone posted about no vegetarian dishes is way off. MOST of the salads are FAB and Veg. Warmed Beet & walnut is especially good. French Onion soup is out of this world an you can always have a chocolate souffle. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMM read more

I went to this restaurant with my family and I must say that the hostess was amazing. Now that said, I did not enjoy seeing a man wholooked homeless and a hippie. I found out that he is the new owner and his name is jonah. Well Jonah, you definitely need to take care of that greasy long hair, and actually look like an owner/manager!!!!! I was appalled learning that. That just made our visit so bad!!!! The food was nothing exceptional. But it would have been more enjoyable had I not seen the new owner looking so disheveled and just plain scary looking!!!!! Would i eat there again??? Absolutely not. The server's were rather slow and a bit arrogant. I would not recommend this restaurant at all. Unfortunately I feel this place has gone down the tubes real fast. read more

This is a mixed review in all fairness. Firstly, the restaurant itself is small but the ambiance and setting was excellent. They also have a small bar area in the back that would occupy about 8-10 people. The food was good but nothing out of this world. The staff were attentive and they knew French wines, but I felt like they were rushing us through dinner. I don't mind eating fast but it has to be on my terms, especially if one in throwing down a buck and a half. That alone didn't sit well with me and is a deal breaker. Would I be back? Fiuck this fiucking place!!! I took a picture of this place tonight, which means I will never see it again in real life. Bald-Headed host or hostess, I am not sure what he or she identifies as had the nerve to walk around all night with a grass toasting every table with THEIR wine, yet when I order a third drink put me on blast in front of my wife and business partner at our holiday dinner???. My wife and I have been fans of the lovely, charming Mistral for 30 years, but our last meal there will be our last meal there. Risotto that was uncooked, hard and chalky. A kale salad with zero kale in it (they substituted other greens instead). A $48 dollar bottle of wine that was way over-priced for the quality. An overcharge on our bill, and a maitre d (manager/owner?) who berates his waiters within earshot of patrons. Sadly unprofessional. I felt ripped off for the amount of money I spent. We came here during Dine LA. We were seated at the back patio, which had heaters and was done very nice. I was actually going to cancel because the dine LA menu didn't quite do it, but looked at their regular menu and it sounded wonderful. Funny enough we ended up each getting the dine LA and it was fabulous. The short ribs were so tender and flavorful. The fish was flaky and prepared excellent. The service impeccable. My husband and I recently attended a private party for my nephew's graduation and the place looked spectacular and was the perfect venue for a crowd of 60 or so people.
