I love that Mixue found its way to Irvine. Love me some $1 cones (okay, it's like $1.19 or something). Their vanilla soft serve reminds me of the Creamia brand that you can find in Asia. Order was easy. Just order at the kiosk and show them your receipt to get the soft serve. For other items, the wait was about 10 minutes. I got the passion blast at 30 percent sugar. It came with boba and coconut jelly. I thought the boba was good, sweet, and chewy. I also got the Mixue soft serve and it was so good but melted really fast so you need to eat it fast. Mixue is a chain from China that is popular for their inexpensive boba drinks and soft serve. When I heard it was opening in OC, I had to give it a try. Grand opening day was really chaotic since the space is small and there were so many people waiting around. But I came back to try it again on a normal day and the service is better now. I've had their Peach Mango Jasmine Tea ($3.49) and Peach Oolong Tea ($3.99). The tea flavor is lacking in their drinks but they had a nice fruity flavor and I liked that they included bits of fruit. Boba is only $0.49 and it's pretty decent. Their drinks are on the sweet side so I recommend getting 50% or 70% sweetness. Their soft serve is better than their tea drinks. For $1 and some change you can get their original soft serve in a cone. The cone is light and crispy and the soft serve is creamy with a hint of coconut flavor. To my surprise, Mixue wasn't as bad as I expected given their cheap prices. How can I describe this business in one word? Passable. Like other reviews mention, the space is a bit chaotic. You walk into a mishmosh of people if it's evening time (since they open late) and help yourself to a self-kiosk. You don't really need to interact with staff unless you have a question, as you just wait for your name or number to be called. Staff is definitely churning out drinks and soft serve like no other. The Super Cookies Sundae was not as bad as I expected, but it wasn't impressive either. The only thing impressive here is the price. I tried their Super Cookies Sundae, which was their vanilla soft serve topped with chocolate fudge and Oreos, and it was so good. My only feedback would be that I wish there were Oreos throughout the whole sundae, in addition to them being a topping. Service: Our ice cream and drinks came out fast, and the store associate called numbers clearly, so it was easy to know when our order was ready. They also text you your order number and receipt and have a board with your order progress, which makes it easy to track your order. I was really excited to try Mixue because I know how popular it is, but unfortunately, my experience has left me feeling disappointed and overstimulated. My friend and I came after having dinner around 8:50pm and there was a line out the door. Fortunately though, the line did go by quite quickly. However, it was kind of chaotic because you can either order on the kiosk or order with the staff, so people behind you can order first if they wanted to use the kiosk and there was just so many people going in and out. Usually, I would have ordered on the kiosk, but because they were doing a promotion where you buy 2 drinks and get either a fan or a mystery toy, I decided it was best to order with the staff just in case. This is when it kind of where things went downhill. Service was not that great; from when we were ordering, our cashier kind of just seemed like she didn't like her job and was simply trying to get the line going and taking orders. That's fine, but then she "forgot" our receipt with our order number. We didn't realize we needed to know our number that was on our receipt (thought we could just check through a text message but it was just my rewards account details). Everyone else behind us got their receipt, but somehow, ours was just left in the receipt machine (because I guess she forgot when we were asking her about the promotion toy.) As the other staff were calling out the orders, we realized we didn't know our number and we didn't have a name because we ordered through the staff. We saw drinks that looked like ours and heard the number called multiple times but we weren't sure, so we ultimately asked the staff who were handing out the drinks about our situation with not having the number. The staff initially seemed to not want to give us the drinks (which I understand since we didn't want to also accidentally take the wrong drinks), but anyway, after awhile of figuring out what to do and explaining to them I ordered through the staff and didn't get the number, the cashier girl finally realized she forgot to give the receipt to us and that the drinks were confirmed to be for us. Now, onto the drinks. Thought the drinks could redeem this experience, but I was wrong. I got the matcha latte and my friend got the spring oolong milk tea (both at 30% sweet and less ice) since we saw these were some of their top drinks. Unfortunately, we were both disappointed by these drinks because they were really watery and diluted. The matcha latte had no matcha flavor whatsoever (as I can also see by the faint green color) and didn't taste like milk either. Honestly just tasted like sugar and water, and I'm usually not picky with matcha either (I rather drink Starbucks' at that point), so that's how bad it was. As for my friend's drink, we could taste the oolong flavor, but it was also very diluted and not creamy at all. Overall, it's sad to say that I didn't have a good experience. As much as I would have wanted to write a good review, unfortunately, it just didn't meet my expectations. I would not recommend getting any of their milk teas unless you like it watered down, and maybe their fruit teas might be a better option. Although their price is such a steal considering how it's rare to find drinks that are less than $5, I would much rather go to a drink place that is more expensive and is of better quality. I will say that maybe their soft serve looks more promising, but I'm not sure if I'll ever come back considering how there's a lot of other drink places I would rather go to. read more

Came to check this place out since it just opened. As with any grand opening, it was packed with people and lines going across the sidewalk. The store looked clean and vibrant with their colorful menus, but it was also packed with people. I was unable to get their specialty soft serve matcha ice cream, so I got their top seller: Strawberry Coconut Milk, and it was very good. The shop has three small tables and booth seats, as well as some open space to wait for drinks, although it can get crowded quickly. There's WiFi for the general plaza area that is available. You could get work done here if you're quick at snagging a table, but I wouldn't aim for it personally. Service: 0.5/1. Order at one of two digital kiosks. There's a rewards program. At one point an employee threw down his apron, said "fuck it," and then walked away. It seemed like they may have been overwhelmed with online orders. It was also confusing because one worker was telling people they were closed while another told customers we could only get free ice cream cones. The ice cream cone was actually really good, but the overall experience was uncomfortable. I didn't get to try any of the drinks this time, but I'm hoping to come back once things settle down. Strawberry sundae- I wouldn't get this again. It's way too sweet. I'd describe it as a mini version of costcos berry sundae, but less creamy. Peach oolong tea - loved the crunchy peach bits they included in the drink. There were also some coconut jellies in it. The drink itself is on the sweeter side. I got 50% sugar and less ice but it tasted more like 100% to me. The jellies probably made the drink sweeter. Grape with taro balls - I was skeptical about taro balls in grape but was surprised how well it actually tasted together. There also coconut jellies in the drink.
