Went with a couple of friends yesterday, Miyako had a really nice outside seating sectioned off to a side of their restaurant! There were cute little wood panels between some tables which provided privacy, outside heaters, and hand sanitizer on each table. Outside seating was set up so nicely! The food was SOOOO amazing, we ordered some nigiri platter, udon, volcano roll, and spicy tuna handrolls. Everything tasted amazing and the staff was too nice. This is a great spot if you're in the mood for good quality sushi and Korean food. I usually go with the lunch combo with the chicken teriyaki and assorted sushi. His friend got food posioning here and had to check-in to a hospital. This place is like eating a deathly blow fish. FOOD POISONING! My dad and his friends had dinner here. He woke up and had really bad food poisoning. He had to go to the Dr's who agreed he had food poisoning. Come to find out, 5 out of 7 people has mild to severe food poisoning. I spoke to the owner. She was unapologetic and stated if it was from her restaurant there would be other tables that were sick. It wasn't until I told her AGAIN; he's not the only one from his table who's sick. I wouldn't be calling if I had a doubt and told her she needs to do a better job at checking fish quality. she eventually called me back I guess from called ID (which is creepy) and said she'll make,porridge and for my dad so come pick it up. Although it's a nice gesture, I don't know what makes her think I'd give him or anyone else for that matter food from where he got sick from in the first place. read more

Ok, so I personally HATE sashimi. I tried it once and never tired again for years. I came here once before and didn't try the sashimi because of my prejudice from other restaurants. The second time I came, I reluctantly tried the sashimi. And it actually changed my view of sashimi. I tried the tuna, and I could definitely tell that it was fresh and high quality. If you come to this restaurant, I highly recommend the sashimi. This definitely opened a lot of doors to my food palette which inevitably will bring me back for more. Great job Miyako. read more

I moved to Fullerton about a year ago and drive by this restaurant on my way home from work but never gave it a try due to some of the bad reviews I've read. I finally went there for lunch today because my bf suggested it although I told him it didn't have good reviews, he said we should try it for ourselves. I ordered the salmon teriyaki lunch combo with California rolls and the bf ordered the sushi combo and we loved it! I was impressed with the little Korean side dishes which was complimentary, the salad was fresh and our order came with miso soup, we ate everything to the last bite and neither one of us have gotten food poisoning, I can't wait to go back! read more

This review is purely based on the Lunch Combo Menu. A week ago, I visited with my cousin, aunt, and mom for lunch and it was quite impressive. Each of us got the pick 3 lunch combo meal which was quite a lot of food. I picked soba cold noodle, sashimi, and sushi (nigari) which was a great combo of food to order. The amount of food for the price was great. I'm usually not a big fan of Korean owned sushi restaurants but this place was good. I came in for lunch today and was warmly welcomed by the staff. The clean and modern interior was a nice change from other sushi restaurants. Once I was seated, the nice Korean lady brought me hot tea and took my order. The food came out fairly quickly and I was honestly impressed by the quality AND quantity! The fish was seriously melt in your mouth and their tempura was one of the best I've ever tasted. I'm a pretty picker eater but this place is definitely one of the better sushi joints in town. i am giving em 5-stars for their lunch specials! if u want to try something diff and luv raw squid and spicy noodles, u MUST try their squid sashimi cold noodles (han-chi-hew-nyeung-myun)!!!! it's squid sahimi slices in icy nyeung-myun broth with buckwheat noodles/veggies with spicy korean sauce. SO YUMMY!!! the portion is huge for only like $7. so worth it. i think they only offer this during lunch. their korean-style chirashi (hwe-dup-bap) is a good value too. their sushi is not anything to write about but their squid dish just won me over. just stick with lunch specials! read more

Miyako is a popular Korean-style Japanese restaurant. During the time I've come here, it has changed owners at least twice. In the current incarnation, you'll find beautifully presented platters of sashimi served in an energetic, modern Asian setting -- and business is good. The waitresses here (all female) are worked incredibly hard, and part of the ambiance is watching them hustle from table to table in a furious pace, taking orders, refilling glasses, and dropping off assorted banchan: little plates such as kimchi, potato salad, and radishes. There's no time for idle chit chat, but they are friendly if a bit abrupt. Though I find the cost to be a bit on the high side, regulars often express pleasure with the quality of the fish itself. On that front, I'm not sure Miyako competes well with the better sushi restaurants in its price class. To me, their worst offense (which, to be fair, is committed by many otherwise respectable restaurants) is failing to disclose when surimi (fish paste) is being substituted when the menu specifically calls out "crab meat." Given the popularity of this place on a weekend night, you can expect the tables to be filled. So be prepared to wait if you haven't secured a reservation. read more

This place is beautiful. I wish I had a camera with me to capture how gorgeous this place was. Not only was Miyako pleasing to see with the eye, but the food was superb! Their tempura is not the typical you'd get from a Japanese restaurant. It's light and crispy, and you can taste the veggie or shrimp you are eating more than the fried part! Now that's a first for me. And all the dinner entrees come with the tempura. Even their miso soup tasted better than average. Everything was just so good. The only thing I didn't get to try was their sushi. I will definitely go back to try it! read more

When I'm in the mood for sushi (which is every other hour), this is the restaurant to go to- very dependable when it comes to good food, always very fresh and tasty. My usual meal here is the chicken teriyaki dinner plate (which comes with tempura, rice, and california roll), with a side order of teka maki (tuna roll) on the side. I have to say that the teka maki has to be my favorite part of the meal- the tuna is always very fresh and delicate, and they come in tiny portions which is not overbearing like some sushi restaurants are. A definite keeper- my only problem is the special attention they pay to their more... well, basically they're nicer to their own, if you get what I mean. :( read more

My wife and I just moved into the neighborhood and love Sushi. We were there at dinner time on a Thursday, which seemed to be a regulars spot. This place was a bit over priced, service was a C at best, saw little flies midway through our meal. Food was just ok and the little flies killed the whole experience. New owner on 9/3, new servers, new chefs. Really bad food. This is the worst sushi restaurant I have ever been to. The tempura crunch roll had this disgusting flavor. The sushi wasn't fresh at all. It tasted very fishy. I hope I don't get sick. the cuts of sushi over the rice were so messy. It's what sushi would look like if I were to cut it myself at home. Also, the fish cuts are very thin. Lastly, the place is very overpriced. 5 dollars for two dinky little salmon pieces. That's the price you pay at a fancy Japenese restaurant. I will never be going back. I GOT FOOD POISONING!!! I had the fish eggs with uni and rice. Then within 20 minites I felt uneasy. At first I thought I had indigestion, but after waking up in the middle of the night, I had diahrrea and vomited everything up. If you ever ordered the uni rice to-go, they never let you to-go this dish with uni, especially on a very hot day, yet they served it in their restaurant and caused me to go through such misery. I want to say they are good about not letting you to-go an item bc it might go bad on the drive home, but they should also know what to serve and not serve. read more

Food was nothing special and service was even worse. Servers are not that attentive and no one checks up on your table unless you literally grab their attention. There isn't a designed server and sometimes they will take our requests or say we have to get someone else. We asked them for just one side of rice to two different workers and it takes over 15 minutes to find them again and remind them. The tempura is stale in the rolls and the rice is 70 percent of the roll. Came here by chance and will not be back again. read more

We ordered the sashimi special where you have to order a minimum 2 orders. It was like $80 per person. We were a group of 4 and we only ordered the minimum. It was more than enough food. The order consists of a huge boat filled with various sashimi, one spider roll, huge fried fish, and at the end you get rice porridge and spicy seafood stew. In the beginning of our order, we told the waitress our mother doesn't like raw fish, so they brought out corn cheese and some sort of sauteed mushroom thing for her, free of charge. There's also a whole bunch of side dishes that come out. Sashimi was so fresh and melted in your mouth. I would've given them 5 stars, but their service when we got there was whatever. My husband and I got there first and we were waiting for my in-laws to arrive. After serving us water, they basically ignored us until my in-laws got there. read more

Your run-of-the-mill Korean-owned Japanese restaurant. Above average, the fish seems relatively fresh and the rolls are a bit more uniquely named. The chefs are fun, but not too crazy. There is a huge projection screen with the big sports games playing in the evenings. Good drink specials, oftentimes the sake is 1/2 off. Definitely not worth driving more than 45 min for this place. The Mexican Roll is deliciously spicy and the Lady Gaga Roll is just so fun to order. read more

Previous owner of this place was my dad's friend and than owner changed couple months ago. I still like it even under new management but the price went up, not to much. My family always come here even though they lived in Rowland heights. Me and my husband love sashimi in general so we know what is good compare to the price. even the price went up you will get what you paid for. the quality, portion and variety of the side dish is amazing here. not many place give ankimo for side dish.and servers here well trained :) Love this place! read more
