The shrimp and crab risotto was insanely amazing!! The salad with the avocado was also very flavorful. Pretty solid service so no complaints there. Ambiance downstairs is way better than upstairs. We were placed upstairs but asked to be moved down. Cocktails were just ok. Not bad but not amazing. read more

When a local restaurant turns into a chain it's always bad. I thought only so much could go wrong with brunch -- nope! The breakfast tacos were served cold, wrapped in foil. The hashbrowns must've been deep fried in butter because it just tasted like butter. The butter overpowered the potato. I did not their black tea. The banana bread pudding was just meh. I was a repeat customer of the original farmers and fishers---but this place is only famous for its name. The portions are also huge. But it's not the best idea to make large portions of bad tasting food! read more

We had excellent service here! All the staff were warm and friendly, and knew the menu well. I had the veggie loaf, which was really good! I do wish there had been more of a description that the mashed potatoes were not vegan, as they were buttery (tasty, but I try to stay as vegan as possible on meatless Mondays). I also had the Clementine drink, which I really enjoyed! We sat outdoors because the weather was perfect. There's a nice terrace with a flower wall. read more

Decided to place 2 orders of deviled eggs to go. Ordered the traditional and the ones with bacon. First, when I opened the box, some were completely upside down and the filling had spilled out in the box. Mind you, this was in both orders. I may have let that somewhat slide if the eggs were good. They were disgustingly BLAND with ZERO seasoning! How do you even prepare deviled eggs with ZERO seasoning? Just NASTY and flavorless. I was highly disappointed and for $30.00, angry that I wasted my money. I ended up throwing them in the trash as soon as I got home. NEVER again. read more

When we first walked in, the hostess said the wait would be up to an hour. A member of our party booked a table on opentable.com and we were sat 15 minutes later. We learned later they were short one server for that shift. Our server Tavis was the bomb, he took care of our every need! We ordered Beignets for an appetizer, which were absolutely delicious! They came out at the same time the rest of our entrées did, so the table was quite full with plates. Treat yourself to an English muffin. They are above & beyond, because freshly baked at Tysons and delivered to this location. The coffee is deliciously strong, and when I tried to order a half/calf, 2 separate cups arrived. I found the decaf was strong enough for me. It took quite a while for a check to finally hit the table, but they were very busy. I noticed a "wellness charge" on the bottom of my check (for $3.61). This is a hospitality 5% surcharge added to dine-in checks to support free mental health resources for their teams and families, access to health insurance, paid sick leave and increased operating costs. The manager showed me where it's explained on the menu, and said they'd be happy to remove the extra fee. read more

The two servers assigned to our group were absolute gems -- they were warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. They didn't just serve; they connected with each guest, making everyone feel welcome and cared for. It's rare to encounter service that thoughtful and consistent. Our entire group kept commenting on how great the staff was -- they helped set the tone for a relaxed, joyful event. The food was delicious as always, but it was the people who really made the difference. We'll absolutely be coming back and recommending this location to others looking for a spot with not just good food, but genuinely great hospitality. Came in on a Thursday night and chose to sit on the side patio, which was very cozy (the romantic dim lights and low-speed, quiet outdoor fans created a very relaxing environment). The extensive menu here made it difficult for us to decide what to order (despite being so hungry), but our server, Naz, was so patient with us and offered us some great recommendations (thanks, Naz!). After some time, I finally decided on the shrimp and crab risotto, which surpassed my expectations. The ratio of shrimp and crab to risotto was excellent. The risotto was flavorful and rich, and the touch of lemon really helped enhance the dish! I also had a non-alcoholic pineapple drink (can't remember the name, but also not listed on the menu), which was delicious and very refreshing (also recommended by Naz). My date ordered the Chesapeake Wild Blue catfish entree (not pictured because he was so hungry) and thoroughly enjoyed it. Overall, had a very enjoyable experience here! I'll definitely be back for the risotto (and to try their other dishes) and to enjoy the patio, especially with the nights getting cooler and less humid (makes for a nice date night spot!) read more

If ordering the chicken platter for the price that it is selling, one should be able to choose the pieces. I don't eat dark meat, it makes me sick, some people absolutely hate white meat. For the price, you should focus more on respecting that fact and not try to make people take what you want them to have on our dime. If you can only fry limited amounts of chicken pieces and have the audacity to charge people when you are rationing it, perhaps you shouldn't fry chicken. I will not be visiting this restaurant because of this practice. I can fry my own chicken and probably runs circles around what you have to offer read more

After we placed our order, we heard from other server introducing specials tonight. Our server Logan didn't tell us about the specials. Our server was not as attentive as we thought he should be. The honey and thyme Spatchcock chicken was cooked perfectly and served with mashed potatoes and green beans that were also delicious. The New Brunswick Stew was also delicious, although it did not match the description (it had the rotisserie chicken, but no lima beans, chickpeas, or barley). It did have a tangy sweet flavor and lots of vegetables. Also, it was served with toasted sourdough bread, delicious butter, and a small farmers salad that was perfectly dressed and exceptionally delicious. Portions were just right. Meet the Manager: Jeff H.

As someone who loves the fast pace and comradery of restaurants, Jeff Hylden is a seasoned hospitality professional who is known for his dedication to growing his team, collectively and individually. After graduating from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Arts, Jeff initially pursued a career in acting but soon discovered his passion for the hospitality industry. Over the course of 16 years, Jeff moved from server to bartender to front of house trainer to general manager to senior manager. He worked in markets all over the country opening new restaurants and re-aligning struggling stores from Pennsylvania to Oklahoma City. Jeff eventually became the Director of Operations, where he oversaw restaurants across the Mid-Atlantic region through Florida. From managing individual restaurants to overseeing entire regions, he is equipped with a comprehensive understanding of restaurant operations, staff management, and customer satisfaction.

I had wanted to check this place out since I recently moved walking distance to Coopers mill. I'm glad we walked because parking is regulated and for hotel guests only. There is limited street parking on pooks hill. The bartender was lovely and we immediately were given menus, when we told him we were there for dessert he recommended the fried cookie dough which was delicious. Comes with taharka vanilla ice cream which I loved since I used to live in Baltimore! The presentation of the fried dough balls was very pretty as well. The other bartender Zobe was a pleasure to speak to. He recommended good drinks and even whipped up a chocolate martini at my boyfriend's request. This place is a little pricey with a very casual atmosphere, but I enjoyed my visit and we will be back!

Park Potomac Location The first time I went here, they knocked it out of the park, but since then I haven't come close to experiencing the same level of service or quality. The first time, I was there for dinner and ordered speckled bass with the almond/mustard preparation as the server recommended. I had been leaning toward the meuniere, as I'm not one for crunchy encrusted fish, but he was right on. It was probably the best fish I've ever had! (Shh don't tell my boyfriend. He has cooked many lovely farm-to-table dishes professionally and at home, but this one won by a few hairs.) He got a burger and wasn't thrilled with it. On my second visit, I got the Spicy Ahi Tuna Poke salad which was kind of "eh." But because raw tuna is not exactly what you think of when you think of farm-to-table specialties in Maryland, I'll consider that a fault of my own. Meanwhile, he got the fried chicken (I think Southern) and was totally into it. Both this time and the the first time we ordered the smears, dips, and table bread which was pretty decent, though a little filling. Yesterday, we went there to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. I decided we should go all out. Well, it took us about 15 minutes to even be greeted by our server. When she finally came over, she ran through the specials and asked what we wanted to drink. When I said just water with lemon for now but that I would look at the drink menu and select something, she ran away, came back with water a few minutes later (no lemon, but that's a frequent mishap), and didn't return for another 15-20 minutes! He told me to order him the seasonal draft and the farmer's chips, cheddar crisps and dips as an app while he went to the bathroom, but she still never came back. I wanted to get a jonny's collins, but it didn't matter because she didn't come back! I searched the restaurant and still did not see her anywhere. Eventually, she made a brief appearance and we ordered the app and our drinks. Other staff members brought us the plates for our app and the actual plate of farmer's chip, cheddar crisps and dips. What a disappointment! The cheddar crisps tasted like a giant Cheez-It and the chips were so soaked in grease they were all translucent. The dips didn't go that well with what we had to dip in them, but that may be personal preference. When I got to order my entree ten years later, I got the Lemon Meuniere Diver Scallops w/ Butternut Squash Risotto. I was going to ask if it came with a vegetable, but figured due to the nature of the restaurant it was a stupid question. I stayed quiet and figured I'd let them surprise me. Well, I was wrong. It came with a huge messy heap of risotto that tasted more like butter than anything else, with a few single peas sprinkled on top--I guess to add a little color. I'm still not sure what happened to the butternut squash. The scallops themselves were seared well and nice and plump, but very sandy which tells me they were not rinsed/filtered long enough. Not the best I've ever had, but still a good amount for the $24 price tag. He ordered the chicken again and cleaned his plate. But while he was still eating, I said I was going to the bathroom. what I was really doing was going over to the hostess stand to inquire about a birthday celebration for him. After she was finally finished talking to what appeared to be a friend visiting her, I asked if they did anything for birthdays and if I could order a dessert with "happy birthday" written on the plate in chocolate sauce or something. She told me they didn't really do anything, but I could ask my server if she could put a candle in a dessert for me. But that was not an option because first of all, my server was MIA the entire meal and secondly, he would have seen me from our table shoved in the corner near the pastry station. She did not seem to care, so I said nevermind and went back to my table. I was so upset I just told him what happened. He said he didn't mind, but that's not the point. He said he didn't even want a dessert and we should just go. But we looked at the dessert menu anyway. He was eyeballing the chocolate mousse for two, which made me nervous because we rarely can finish a dessert for one when splitting it together. I asked the waitress just how large it was and she said, "Oh, not that big. It's the perfect size for two, like it says." I'm not sure if she was talking down to me or what, but I said fine, let's get it. Well, let's just say she was lying. I'm not sure what the presentation was all about--a giant clear mixing bowl that was five times too big for its contents--was full of mousse topped with whipped cream, drizzled with caramel, and strewn with what I'm pretty sure were those Hershey's ice cream sundae crunch ball toppings, and could have provided a hefty dessert for at least a family of five! When I first found out about FF, I was enthralled. But after my third experience there, I have very mixed feelings.Definitely a no-go for special occasions! read more

Went on Mother's Day, and it was not the first time dining there. Rezzie was at 3 pm, they weren't particularly busy. I have ate dinner there a few times, lunch and breakfast. The food is okay, nothing fabulous. It is presented well, etc. So yesterday, for some reason our table of 5, was sat at a table for 10? 2 of the 5 were 6 and under. After we were sat, we waited about 10 minutes for a waiter to acknowledge us and give us a high chair for my 1 year old. I did specifically ask in the reservation for a high chair. Once the food was ordered everything came out fine, except for the fact that Founding Farmers REALLY DOESN'T LIKE KIDS. I mean really can't stand them and resents parents who bring them into their restaurant. For example, no kids menu ( if there is one, it was not presented)...for me this is not a dealbreaker, I rarely order off the kids menu for my kids, anyway. The waiter suggested that they could make noodles and Parmesan for the kids. The KIDS parm noodles came out with pepper flakes in them - BIG GIANT Pepper flakes. I personally like spice and eat Indian curries, wasabi on my sushi, thai food, etc. Find me a child who likes to actually see spice in their food at my kid's age?! My 6 year old barely touched them - 1 year old thought they were the best thing ever - she eats everything, anyway! The waitress made sure to say everything was made to order, so the kitchen thinks the KID's parm noodles (receipt said KIDS NOODLES) should have noticeable spice in them???? I am mostly vegetarian (eat some seafood/fish, no other meats), in the past I was excited to see their vegan/vegetarian menu. Well, meh, boring, and re-purposed is what that is! On a previous trip, my sister ordered one item off the veg menu, I ordered a different one - we realized they re-purposed the meat like lentil innards for each of our entrees. Wow, not what I was expecting at all. So this time, I told myself the grilled cheese/tomato soup combo will be fine and I will not venture out past that to be disappointed - it was fine, but the tomato soup was a little spicier than I recalled, which meant I couldn't share it with my spice-shy 6 year old - once again, 1 year old scarfed it down. I ordered brocollini instead of the beef lard fries/chips. Well, they put cayenne pepper on it, so there was no way I could offer it to either of my kids, and they love vegetables?! The morale of the story, is that I am done with this restaurant. They lack originality and most important they REALLY DON'T LIKE KIDS. Don't get me started that the french fries are made with beef lard. Since, I need to feed my kids and like to/have to take them with me when I eat - I am crossing this place off the list. read more

A warm fall day, meant a chance to meet up with old friends for Sunday brunch. Our search led us to Founding Farmers in Potomac. In summary, it doesn't live up to the hype. I want and like to support restaurants during the pandemic, of course, but wishing they didn't make it so hard to feel like "we're in it together'. Phoning it in, as they say. We were not greeted by one person on this day. A few staff behind the counter in the foyer, but had to work hard to get seated for the reservation. Patrons were spaced out, but service was lackluster from the start. No coffee. "The" coffee machine was broken, according to our waitress who seemed put off by having to be at work. (Only one coffee maker in this massive restaurant, I thought?) I had to convince her that the French press might be a good option. Pouring water shouldn't seem hard, but one was filled to the top, the others not without spilling. One tablemate ordered a Coke. It arrives later in a can, sans glass/ice/straw. The food, a mix of breakfast and lunch fare, was exceedingly average. Not bad, but I've actually had better at IHOP. It's hard to explain how indifferent the waitress was. You know when you're on a flight, and the flight attendants act as if they're doing you a favor? It was like that. Or like the stereotypical staff at the DMV. My friend who made the reservation tells me that there's often a wait for this place...he grew up nearby. I'm having a hard time believing it, but then again I've been to other venues where the legend is greater than the real experience...Busboys & Poets, for example. Same energy. I could go on. In any case, I should add that they were charging a 4.5% pandemic surcharge, as outlined on their menu. They say it's for PPE and so forth. And yet there were no paper towels in the dispenser, and one member of the staff walked out from the kitchen without a mask. Evidently, not everyone is getting the PPE they need. First time and last time for me. We wrapped up at a Starbucks down the street, where both the hot drinks and service was marketly better. read more

Today (7.30.2022) was our second time dining here at MoCo Founding Farmers. The first time was a few years ago when the nearby establishments (like Gringo & Mariachi) haven't even been built. The whole area in front of FF was just an open space/lot. We only remembered Harris Teeter. We don't live in its immediate vicinity so FF, I guess, hasn't been a constant bleep in our radars. Driving in today made us feel the onslaught of the passing years -- it suddenly felt "tighter" because of the "newer" edifices around. Anyway, maybe the stars aligned somehow because we found ourselves back here today to celebrate an important family occasion. We came during a quieter hour so we had the whole upstairs area to ourselves. We were greeted warmly and served efficiently by a jovial "RYAN" with the sparkling smile that always touched his eyes (a sign of sincerity, they say). He answered questions about the menu patiently, and even suggested some tips about tweaking the menu contents which made dining even better. The food was great - every single dish. We were served quickly; there was hardly any wait time. The pricey desserts were really the wow to end all wows in this restaurant. The portions were big enough to share. They tasted "fresh," too. We were reminded of how much we enjoyed FF the first time, and we thought that after this second visit that we should go and drive that "extra mile" and dine in more often in the future. We were really thrilled that, despite the "gap years," the quality of food and service didn't diminish at all. Well done, FF! read more

Love it! Want to go back soon. Went on Friday 2/10/2012 while the breakfast menu was still available (before 11am). Had New Orleans french toast filled with vanilla cream, with a bananas foster sauce on top. Each mouthful was delightful. This entree was $10. By the way, there was tons to eat. Many other people may not want to finish it all -- although I did. It was so yummy. Drank iced tea. Yeah, it was $3, but man -- was I happy when I saw them bring the second glass with another slice of lemon in it -- instead of repeatedly refilling my glass but not providing the lemon after the first glass, as other restaurants do. So my total was $13 plus tax and tip -- and well worth every buck I spent. Service was great. Everyone in the restaurant seemed to be enjoying themselves. Bathrooms were sparkling clean. I've seen some reviewers comment on how "loud" it seems in this restaurant. But I sat with a table of 5 that included people with hearing problems, and we didn't have any problems hearing each other -- and I didn't feel that we were straining to be heard. When I parked the car, it said I needed to pay at the meter before going anywhere. But....I was there during the day during the week when you get 2 hours free... so I registered the car for 2 hours without paying anything. Nice. Note: GET A RESERVATION! GET IT NOW! This place fills up. I'm adding this to my list of my favorite restaurants in the county, which includes Mon Ami Gabi (Bethesda) and Gordon Biersch (Rockville) and Le Pain Quotidien (Bethesda). read more

Food great. Took too long to get it. Group of 5 people. Wednesday 2pm for afternoon tea. Restaurant 1/2 empty. 4 people had the tea; 1 had a burger. We received the tea promptly, then waited a long time for the tea food. When we complained about the wait, the server said it takes longer to prepare the tea food. What???? 1/2 of the tea food is pre-made cookies/candy. The other 1/2 is small sandwiches -- which aren't that hard to make. The ones I selected didn't even require cooking. And I imagine that's true for the other tea sandwiches as well. Anyway, what gives? If the tea food really does take longer, why isn't this stated in the menu? If we had known about the delay in receiving tea food, we certainly wouldn't have gone for tea. The waiter got very little tip from my friends as a result. The waiter also never came back to ask if we wanted more tea. And indeed, the tea was cold by the time the food showed up. Pet peeve: When the server delivers iced tea, the customer should not have to ask for sweetener as I did yesterday and had to ask previously. When the server delivers tea for the afternoon tea, the customers should not have to ask for sweetener. BTW: Sound level was OK on main floor given that restaurant was 1/2 empty. I wish I didn't have to write this but I feel I must. Let me first say, our server was fantastic! We ordered wings, Brie and artichoke spinach dip for appetizers. The Brie was to die for! The wings were tasty until 2 people at our table had raw ones. When we told our server the manager came over to apologize and tell us that they were having a problem with the chicken pieces. Huh? After the 2nd wing was raw he graciously comped them. Not sure why they weren't comped the first time? Then the entres came. The fish and chips were fine as was the ahi tuna salad. Nothing to write home about but fine! The chicken fried steak, however, was a salt lick. No bueno. We ordered the fried shrimp instead, which was good. But instead of just comping the salty dish and replacing it we were charged for it. Oh and once again the manager came back over to make more excuses as to why it was salty. He even mentioned that it isn't the best thing on the menu! Again, huh? It was just the weirdest dining experience. This place is walking distance from our home but we don't go because we always have a bad experience. I really hate writing a bad review but this place is a mess. Founding Farmers is a total fav whenever I am in the DMV area. However, after my last visit at this location I was like "okaaaay". We made reservations for a certain time and we were seated almost 30 minutes after our reservation which was scheduled for which put us in a dint of plans afterwards. During that time frame, I went to the bar to grab a drink. The service was quick. When we got to the table, the waitress was really nice. She helped with the trying to figure out the meals and recommendations. Our food was "okay". I was a little annoyed at my stuffed french toast being really hard. My friends also got regular french toast and they said theirs were really hard too. Therefore, we all poured the syrup on it to soften it up a little. What really brought this rating down was the fact that the bathroom was absolutely disgusting. The photo is attached for proof. I understand that it may be a busy time however, bathrooms need to be kept. It wasn't just this one stall either. The restroom was very uncomfortable and a lot of the guest that were also in it were turning away. Why aren't there rolls in the holder? Random lighter? Wet stuff all over the floor. .. gross. Founding Farmers - The Perfect Post-Gym Spot! After a solid gym session, my friend and I were looking for a place to refuel and unwind, and Founding Farmers did not disappoint. We snagged a spot on the outdoor patio, which was just the vibe for a summer evening -- breezy, relaxed, and the perfect setting to chill after a good workout. Our server, Benny, was awesome. Super attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed. He recommended the beef pastrami hash, and wow, it was exactly what I needed. Hearty, flavorful, and packed with that perfect mix of savory pastrami, crispy potatoes, and eggs. It hit all the right spots, especially after burning some calories at the gym. The patio made everything even better. Sitting outside with the evening breeze, great food, and good company -- what more could you ask for? This restaurant was suggested to go to by my daughter. She ranted and raved on how awesome this place was. She was right. First, make a reservation. Place was packed when we got there at four o clock. Around 5 it got more packed. Since everything is made from scratch, you have to wait awhile for your food to be served. The food is a little on the pricey side; but well worth it. Appetizers...wife had bacon lollies(bacon on a stick) with cinnamon on it. I had crab and avocado dip with toasted chiabatta. Our waiter, Isaiah, suggested to put some bacon on it. Said it would be awesome and it was! Isaiah was very attentive and could strike up a good conversation. Not many waiters or waitresses do that anymore. As for the rest of dinner, wife had goat cheese(yuk) ravioli with a chicken breast. For me, it was shrimp and grits with andouille sausage. Both entrees were huge and most of all delicious. It's quite noisy, which would be expected. The lighting was good and the seating not too close to other patrons. All their desserts are pretty much chocolate. VERY rich chocolate, so beware. We had a good time and will be back again. read more

I recently visited Founding Farmers in Rockville and had the pleasure of being served by Mario, and I have to say, he made the whole dining experience unforgettable. From the moment we sat down, Mario greeted us with a warm smile and an eagerness to ensure we had the best possible experience. He was incredibly attentive, answering all of our questions about the menu with great knowledge and suggesting some standout dishes we wouldn't have considered otherwise. This is why 5 stars. Reservation for 12 at 645p on the Friday night of Memorial Day weekend. University of MD graduation ran late, called at 6pm to tell restaurant, got past automated teller to woman who demonstrated compassion and informed me they would get us in at 730p or whatever time I thought we could make it. Got there a little before 730 to an awaiting table. Server Elizabeth K very personable, engaging with everyone but especially the graduate. I'll ask for her next time! Food was excellent, one dish was sent back for adjustment (communication issue on our side), quickly resolved. Shrimp and crab risotto and cracker crusted shrimp were standouts. The balanced taste of the risotto - exceptional. The size, quality and quantity of those crusted shrimp - wow - the 3 who ordered those plates were able to share with others who were jealous at the table. Manager stopped by ensuring everything to our satisfaction. Supporting staff were on it with water refill before needed, dishes cleared as they occurred, and nice personalities when engaging with everyone. We plan to return given our experience. read more

I came to Founding Farmers today for a low-key, relaxing, late-lunch at around 4pm. I had had a stressful day, with a medical procedure around the corner, and had been fasting all day. I cannot have asked for a more relaxing, delicious late-lunch, and for as wonderful a waiter as David. He was very attuned to my need for a mellow lunch, as I advised him of my situation at the beginning. He was warm and welcoming, and equally mellow. He adeptly recommended the right dishes that helped me to re-coup and rejuvenate, both in my body and spirit. With the late afternoon sun warming the table in the pleasant air conditioning, I could not have asked for a nicer experience. Plus, the food there is always incredible. The kettle corn is addictive, and my mom (who had accompanied me) even had some--and she is pretty hard-to-please! She kept asking David what the secret ingredient was! I dined here on Saturday. Our drinks were fantastic and the food was delicious. there was a small mistake that was quickly fixed. Maggie the manager came by and apologized and made sure everything was quickly corrected! I do not normally write reviews but as I was leaving the same manager named Maggie was outside talking to an employee. I parked on the side of the building so was within earshot for a minute as I loaded into my car. I only heard a brief segment of their conversation but Maggie was reassuring the employee that it was ok to make a mistake, shake it off and don't let it upset them. The employee was clearly upset and had made an error, so hearing an authority figure explain that everyone makes mistakes and that its ok to not be perfect was really just a moment of kindness that made my and my husbands breakfast experience even better. We left proud to support your restaurant and thrilled to see kind humanity in your place of business! We will be back and spread the word! read more

The food and customer service was excellent! We had a reservation here for my husband's birthday. When we arrived, everyone told him happy birthday. Our server also told him happy birthday at the start of our dining experience. I had the cedar plank salmon with red mashed potatoes, broccolini, and collared greens. It all was very good, cooked to perfection, excluding the broccolini.... it could have been steamed a little more. My husband had the mashed potatoes and avocado burger. He is a huge burger person and he said "...this is definitely in my top 5, maybe even top 3!" We also ordered the skillet cornbread which was incredibly moist! I liked it, my husband said it was okay. The fried green tomatoes is something we both agreed were amazing! The goat cheese spread made it even better. The meal finished with a slice of their carrot cake and ice cream for my husband's birthday which they wrote "Happy Birthday" on the plate. The dessert was very good! This place has always been one of my favorite restaurants in MoCo, but unfortunately my last visit was not a great one and I'm worried the quality has gone downhill. The service is five stars, but unfortunately the experience was made unenjoyable due to the freezing temperature upstairs. The AC is out of control up there so definitely bring a sweater (I wore one and was still freezing). The Farmer's Breakfast , which comes with 2 eggs, is usually quite good although the portion size is definitely smaller than what you would get at a diner for a better price. There is only 1 piece of meat, and at my last visit my sausage came extremely rubbery - it was basically inedible and hurt my mouth to chew. The texture of the English muffin was also off. Hoping this was just a one-off experience because I really do love this restaurant, but it ruined a meal I was looking forward to for a while. Service got off to a slow start this time. It took long enough that my daughter eventually got up to find our server so we could get water. There was also some initial confusion about how we wanted the check split, but once that was sorted out, our server was attentive, friendly, and did an excellent job. We have no complaints about the service after that point. We ordered several of the same appetizers as our previous visit: the Artichoke & Spinach Dip and the Crispy Thai Brussels. We also tried the Crabby Fries, which weren't on the menu during our last visit. All three appetizers were fantastic and just as memorable as before. Three of us ordered drinks. I had a Bloody Mary, and while it wasn't quite as impressive as the one I had during my previous visit, it was still enjoyable. As for the food, I'll start with the few disappointments. My wife ordered a fish dish and upgraded to the crispy potatoes, which are excellent when prepared properly. Unfortunately, the fish was placed directly on top of the potatoes, leaving them soggy rather than crispy by the time the dish reached the table. That was especially disappointing considering the additional charge for the upgrade. On our last visit, two Steak Frites orders were overcooked. This time, my daughter ordered the same dish and requested medium-rare, assuming it might come out a little over. Instead, it arrived rare. Fortunately, she was fine with it. My parents both ordered the Black & Bleu Penne, and while the filet tips in both dishes were overcooked, they remained surprisingly juicy. Another member of our party ordered the Chicken Pesto Sandwich and was disappointed by the soggy bread and somewhat lackluster flavor. I ordered the Chicken Marsala, and it was very good. It wasn't a traditional Chicken Marsala as I'm accustomed to, but it was flavorful, unique, and ultimately satisfying. After two visits, here's my overall impression: the service has been consistently good, though not exceptional. The flavors, however, have been outstanding every time. The kitchen clearly knows how to develop great flavors, and that consistency keeps us coming back. If you're ordering a steak dish, just be aware that the final temperature may not always be exactly as requested. That said, we've visited with large groups both times--eight people on our first visit and seven on our second--so it's possible some dishes spend extra time waiting in the window while the rest of the order is completed. Overall, this is a solid 4.5-star restaurant in our opinion. Unfortunately, Yelp doesn't allow half-star ratings, so I'm giving it 4 stars. Despite a few execution issues, the food quality and flavor are strong enough that we'd gladly return again.
