For religious reasons I couldn't have the meat being cross-contaminated with the veggies, so I asked if there were veggies in the back that could be used, and Johnny, the assistant manager, was so accommodating and helpful. He used clean gloves, used fresh veggies, and made sure the tool used to slice the pizzas was clean too. He once forgot and was about to use the normal artichokes on one of the pizzas, then realized and changed his glove and used the fresh artichokes. His attention to detail and kindness was so appreciated. I also have food intolerances, so he was careful to use the gluten free crust, plant based meat from the back, and the vegan cheese. "Overpriced" suggests it's not worth it, but trust me, this pizza absolutely is. We visited this location back in summer of 2021 during the July long weekend. Realized this is one of the place that stays open late in Redding as others were closing down at 7 or 8pm. We went in and ordered veggie pizza and garlic bread. Its a chipotle style pizza outlet so you get to choose the base, sauce, toppings and cheese. We went with normal base instead of thin one, choose tomato based sauced, a lot of veggie toppings and mozzarella cheese. And garlic bread was the normal but we opted for thin crust. Both the pizza and garlic bread were delicious. I highly recommend pizza for pizza lovers as the veggies are very fresh and the dough is delicious. Lines were huge that is understandable since it was saturday evening. However the staff efficiently moved everyone ahead. "The time has come, grueling work shift done, now I get to enjoy one of my favorite places with my best pals. Yayyy!! MOD Pizza! MOD PIZZAAA!!!" I thought... But boy was I wrong... We enter this restaurant that had once been my happy place, fancy that almost no one in the restaurant, and no line!.. I get to the counter, the chef person doesn't say anything. I say, in my most polite and friendly manner (I am on top of the world mind you), "Hi, can I have 2 mod pizzas please?" She was not stoked, understandable I suppose, but no other customers were in line and it's like 1:30 PM. Just then a girl wearing a cat beanie and intricate bedazzled fingernails comes over to start making my pizza, "what sauce would you like?" she asks, "marinara please!" I say. To that she rolls her eyes and has this really offended reaction, and I seem to really have upset her. "Have I done something wrong?" I think, "I hope she doesn't get upset when I ask for other stuff on my pizza..." I think as I continue.. "can I have some mozzarella cheese?" I ask, she replies, "I guess" and again rolls her eyes. Then she says something, but I can't understand what, because she whisper-mumbles it at the volume level of an asphyxiated mouse. I say, "could I please have every type of the meat" now, now, she is mad.. she is seething with anger, and of course again rolls her eyes at me, and continues with the theatrics.. she then whisper mumbles something else, I think it was, "meet me at the register," (I am legitimately deaf in my left ear, normally it's not too much of an issue, but it was like she was whispering something to someone hiding under the counter).. I say, can I also have some ricotta cheese, she was like "UGGGHHH," that I did hear, "UGGGHHH".... like some kind of super sayen mouse warrior attempting to lift 10,000 pounds, "UGHHHH"... "Surely she's upset for something outside of work, surely this is not directed at me," I try to tell myself... She's hittin me with dagger eyes, man she was mad. I consider myself a peace-seeker, and one who is understanding and patient, "I'll forgive this, I'll continue to try to make this a positive interaction," I think.. She, no exaggeration, SLAMS the pizza on the counter in front of my face. To that I say, "can I please get pesto on it?" (All Mod Pizza lovers know, a finishing sauce is a great option on your pizza)... Now, NOW, this is a level rage I've almost never witnessed. Seething, she was absolutely SEETHING. It felt like something was going to explode, I did not feel safe. When I ate the pizza, it was alright, but it tasted like something I hadn't ever really tasted before.. Then the sensation registered with me... it tasted like hate, it tasted like scorn. I think it's safe to assume she spit in it. Even if she didn't, she may as well have, as she figuratively spit on my heart. She spit on my childhood self, and my happy memories of when "Discovery Village" was first introduced to Redding, CA, and my mother would sometimes let me get a Jamba Juice if I'd been a good boy (a decent place, where workers don't insult customers for ordering the food they offer on their menu). Luigi's Pizza used to be in the location of this Mod Pizza, and is now sadly gone. I absolutely loved it when I was a kid. That place had this awesome pizza eating contest, they had amazing pizza, they had heart, and they treated customers with dignity. Luigi would be rolling over in his grave if he knew what was going on in this disgrace of a pizza restaurant that took their building. I came to this establishment for a quality meal, but all I received was sheer disappointment. After all I had been through in the prior 30 hours to visiting Mod, just to get that type of service, I feel like something I loved is now gone forever. My positive concept of this place is completely gone. All I can assume is this business is cruel to its employees, gives them no training, and they are prejudiced towards bilateral hearing people. Driving through Redding and needed a quick bite but I just didn't want to do drive thru fast food. Found MOD Pizza on Yelp and it was close to where we at on the road. Ordered pizzas online and drove to our destination. On one of the pizzas, I put so much stuff on it. Veggies, meats, sauces and yumminess! The second pizza was a cheese pizza... not very exciting. When we went to pick it up we had to wait a little longer than what the website said, but that's ok. It looked very busy in the actual restaurant. Everyone seemed to want pizza that night. The pizza with all the extra stuff was delicious and hot!! All the goodies were sliding off cause it was so hot. That's what FORKS are for!!! It was tasty and I enjoyed every bite of it! The cheese pizza was good too but a little dry. Next time, I'll order that with extra sauce. All in all, our quick pick pizza dinner was perfect!! Okay, to me, MOD pizza is basically fast food when you're in the mood for pizza. They have good dough, they have all basic toppings you need. I usually get dairy free cheese when I have pizza anywhere and it's always exceptional. I don't know if the cheese was bad or it wasn't baked enough, but not this time. The employees were all sweet and had great charisma. I noticed they had a clean workspace, which is what you always hope to see eating out. My partner got regular cheese margherita pizza which was good, nothing extraordinary. We didn't wait long and they were busy. Overall, I used to go to MOD pizza when I was living in Miami. Now, I remember it was mostly after going out and drinking that I was craving cheap pizza. I don't think I've ever had MOD pizza sober, maybe it was just a drunk kinda craving. I have only been to MOD maybe ten times in my life, different locations. Being the first time without any substances eating MOD, I realized it wasn't as good as I've always imagined it was. I think MOD is a good drunk girl food, wanting something cheesy and greasy. But, just for a normal lunch, I don't think I would choose MOD as my go to. YUM! Mod Pizza does it again. This location is open for takeout and dine in. I got my usual BYO order to go: olive oil/garlic rub base, dairy free cheese, tomatoes, mushrooms, onion, balsamic glaze, and added green peppers this time. The toppings were a little uneven but they didn't skimp on the cheese (I love that they don't charge extra for vegan cheese!). The crust is thin so I easily ate this whole thing in one sitting lol. I also love their online ordering platform and curbside pickup. 9.47 (it was a little more expensive than usual here) It was packed here on a Friday night but our pizzas came out quickly. I'm kind of torn on my review of Mod Pizza. For food taste, quality, quantity, I would give them 3 stars, for their customer service, I would say that the people that work here give excellent service, and would rate them 5 stars for a you build it pizza place. The location is in the medium sized strip mall on Dana Drive across from the Mt. Shasta Mall. Parking can sometimes be a challenge here because of all of the other popular shops and restaurants in the center. If you haven't been to Mod, you wait in a line and pick either a pizza or salad. From there you look through the glass at a salad bar like buffet of toppings to put on your pizza or salad. They have lots of meats, veggies, sauces, pesto, garlic, and several cheeses. They do offer a gluten free option, but I haven't tried that yet. For drinks, they have 4 beers on tap, some bottled beers, wine, fancy sugar cane sodas, waters, 2 different iced teas on fountain, 2 types of Lemonade, a full soda fountain with Coke products, and Milkshakes. After placing all your toppings on the pizza, they toss it into an open front faux wood fire oven (natural gas) and the pizza is done in about 8 minutes. When the pie comes out, they offer to finish it with pesto, garlic, ranch, hot sauce, or whatever else tickles your fancy. It's a fun place, and I really the vibe here. read more

This is the second MOD pizza that I have been to. The food is great (it's the same in both places I've been to), but he workers here are awesome! The girl that helped us was very friendly, upbeat and seemed to genuinely like her job and people. We were greeted by at least 4 different workers at different times each asking if there's anything we need. Plenty of seating inside and a few tables outside as well. My only suggestion is to come before the lunch and dinner rush as the line, more often than not, extends outside the door. read more

I feel like every time I come here lately, there is some sort of issue. Let me be clear, when it's good, it's great! But when it's not good, it's generally because it seems as though it's a bunch of kids working with no one keeping them in check. Today, we ordered two pizzas, and a salad. One pizza came out burnt... even the gal said , sorry we kind of over cooked this, do you want to try and eat it or so you want us to make another... really? So, they remake, it and forget two of the items I asked for. Second pizza gets lost, they find it, it was fine. The salad was fine except for the half plate of brown stems from the romaine. Once I removed all of those, it was good. The real issue seems to be the playing around and not paying attention. I love that they have fun, but not at the cost of providing good service and good food. Of course we'll be back, but I'm hoping there a little more attention to detail. read more
