I feel like every time I come here lately, there is some sort of issue. Let me be clear, when it's good, it's great! But when it's not good, it's generally because it seems as though it's a bunch of kids working with no one keeping them in check. Today, we ordered two pizzas, and a salad. One pizza came out burnt... even the gal said , sorry we kind of over cooked this, do you want to try and eat it or so you want us to make another... really? So, they remake, it and forget two of the items I asked for. Second pizza gets lost, they find it, it was fine. The salad was fine except for the half plate of brown stems from the romaine. Once I removed all of those, it was good. The real issue seems to be the playing around and not paying attention. I love that they have fun, but not at the cost of providing good service and good food. Of course we'll be back, but I'm hoping there a little more attention to detail. read more

I am a fan of Mod Pizza in general but have found that various franchises are better than others. Redding is in the sub par category. At least the employees are now wearing masks, but if you care about your exposure to the virus, you better order curbside as customers are crammed in with no masks and no attempts at physical distancing. NOW, IF you order curbside, you will be very lucky to actually get your pizza. I ordered two tonight and had to call them three (3) times to get our pizzas as we sat outside and watched customer after customer arrive after we did, cram into the restaurant as if there was no covid and leave with their pizzas (they were sitting on a table in the restaurant with the receipt on top clearly marked curbside). This is the last time I will give my business to a local restaurant that really could care less about a customer. With 30,000,000 people in the US unemployed and restaurants fighting for their lives, I think employees need to understand that they are hanging onto their jobs because customer service will win the day. Good luck to all of you! And a special shout out to Paige, the manager tonight who asked me to call her back at her convenience. I declined and asked that she call me. No surprise that I did not receive a phone call. I didn't know anything or what to expect on my first visit to MOD PIZZA. It appeared everyone knew what they were doing and moving along faster than I could decide on a pie...and then I saw what was happening. They use the oh so familiar assembly line system like Port of Subs, Subway, Burrito Bandito or Chipotle's. A fast, you build it, they cook it bing bam boom. Great choices all lined up for your personal liking. Great concept, nice crust and a fast fire oven...got to love it. As for those pizza joints that are over charging for the simplicity for a pie, look out. Alright, this is a late review, but I wanted to write it after a recent visit. I came here after a weekend visit to Bethel Church for a conference. After we got out, it was late and only a few places are still open. Yelp came through once again! Surprisingly it was like less than 30 minutes to closing, but still lots of people. Had a really troubling experience with Martin, one of the workers at this Mod. I've been coming to Mod for 3 years now. I've probably been to 20 different locations, and we go at least once a week as a family. I love Mod Pizza so much, and have gotten lots of people going to Mod as well. While passing through Redding headed back home to Portland, I ordered my usual gluten free pizza through the app to pick it up. The crust was pretty burnt, so I asked if they would mind remaking it. Martin said he would, but asked to see the pizza. He looked at the pizza and said "that's really not burnt" in a very antagonistic way. I said, "Oh, well I come to Mod a lot and this isn't how it usually looks." Martin responded very sharply, "Well I work here." And he said it in a very cutting, arrogant way. I was so careful to be as polite as possible, and I have no clue why Martin decided to not only debate whether the crust was burnt, but to do so in such an aggressive way. This experience really rattled me and I was thinking about it off and on the rest of the day. When we got to our destination, I called the manager to share what happened just because I felt like I needed to tell someone. In general, Mod is great. We always talk about how the company does a great job getting each location to adopt the same care and friendliness ("Modness"). I'd maybe avoid Martin or the Redding location. The first time I walked in everybody greeted me hello. But the next times nobody did - I wonder why that was because they were saying hi to the people who came in after me. No matter that whole hello thing every time could get super annoying. Since they are new, they are pretty good at explaining how it works to everybody. You start at the beginning and either get a salad or a pizza. You can choose your own ingredients or get a pre-decided option. You get to decide what kind of sauce - red, pesto, or white. They also have different types of meat - pepperoni, chicken, salami, Canadian bacon, chorizo. You have to wait for them to defrost the chicken if you want to put it in your salad (frozen grilled chicken didn't sound appetizing so I skipped that). They also have veggies and a selection of cheeses to put on the pizza or salad. Then they put the pizza in the oven... This is where the whole chipotle concept breaks down because you have to wait for the pizza to be cooked and it is not exactly fast--- but it is not slow either ( EDIT: time I went this was extremely slow) Just need to have a little patience I guess and not expect the food fast. While they cook the pizza you get to pay. It is about 8 dollars for the pizza no matter what you get on it and 8 dollars for the salad. A good deal IMO. I got a fountain drink which was exciting because they have a whole selection of lemonades and iced teas to choose from - okay two types of lemonades and two types of iced tea. I think the lemonade is really good. It is sweet and tangy and the first sip is sour enough to make your face scrunch up a little bit--which I happen to enjoy when drinking lemonade. Finally, the pizza is out of the oven and they ask if you want to finish it off. They put some oil or vinaigrette or siracha. And you can finally bite into it. The bread itself is delicious! So that is a great start. And if you choose what you want on it - you probably cannot go wrong because it is what you like. EDIT: last time I went the edges of the pizza were burned to the point that it was almost ash. They still gave it to me like this? Nobody thought to say maybe this is tooooo burned? Oh well i hope this was a one time fluke! If you get one of the ones that they predecided it can be good. I liked the ones I tried- the tristan and sunshine (or something like that). I hated the Valencia. The siracha with the pizza was just weird or maybe it was because they were missing one of the ingredients (lime) they were out (not good business sense) I wouldn't recommend it. Overall, good pizza -better than most in Redding. Not quite as fast as they make you think. And great lemonade. Ps there is another pizza place next door (who negotiated that lease) and the pizza there is also surprisingly good. read more

It's a novel idea for sure, but how does the pizza stack up? Pretty darn good actually. The dough was cooked just right, the toppings seemed fresh and there were a wide variety of them to choose from. The prices are very reasonable. The only issue I had is that about half of the staff seemed like they really, really didn't want to be there. It's not a huge problem, but was definitely noticeable. This is a great place for pizza, the food is great no complaints there. I come in maybe once sometimes twice a month and normally always get the SAME thing. But my visit there today was rather disappointing... a gal in a blue bandanna today on the 4:30 shift that took my order was rude and was constantly criticizing my order to her co workers and proceeded to give very rude and poor customer service. Pizza was good, but the girl that gave us our pizza almost acted like we were putting her out, to give us our pizza, give us a box and some ranch. Also, she wiped the sweat off with her hand and continued to finish the pizzas. She didnt even have any eye contact with us and when we asked about a box, she just pointed over to where the boxes were. She really needs to be taught customer service.
