I have been going to Modern for a few years now. I have had routine maintenance, I have bought tires, I also get my state inspection done at this location. Around November of 2020 my engine in my work van began to have issues. We identified that a replacement engine was needed. I got the new engine put in ( I opted for a used engine due to price). I got my work van back and the motor throws a rod. This was no fault of Modern Tire just an unlucky situation. What occurred next is what is uncommon. I notified Joey Owner/Manager on Saturday and he dropped everything to come tow my vehicle. He took it back to the shop and had my van repaired. He and his staff of mechanics went above and beyond all the expectations to ensure my van was reliable. I can't speak highly enough of him or his father. Mrs. Kathy is a complete ray of sunshine in the office. So needless to say I 100% recommended modern tire for any of your vehicle needs. They have put tires on 4 different vehicles, done countless oil changes on our 5 vehicles, and every vehicle inspection since like 2016. I recently visited Modern for new tires and a state inspection, on a vehicle (Dodge Ram 3500) my son will be taking to Texas; Kathy recommended the Hercules Terra Trac II 35x12.50R20. Although it has only been a month, these tires have exceeded expectations in every way. Most notably, gas mileage has increased 5 mpg in the city, and hit 20 mpg on a run to New Bern. With a 60k warranty and free road hazard protection, I feel these tires are an outstanding value. Modern's expertise and courteous customer service left me extremely satisfied. I had two tires mounted and balanced on the front of my 08 BMW 550i which they took care of now problem. I asked for a 4-wheel alignment and they did it without any issues. Kathy let me know a care was ahead of me gettin an alignment but they would get the car on the rack to do the front two tires. I didn't wait for the repairs and took off to finish running some errands. I got a call that everything was completed about an hour later. Cathy informed me that my front, passenger side rim was bent, which I already knew. She explained they did their best to balance it so that the tire would not shimmy or vibrate when driving. It was great to know that they took extra care and be me aware of a situation that I already know about. It lets me know they take particular care and pay attention to what's going on with your vehicle and will make the customer aware of issues with their vehicle as well. Going back today to have my new rear two tires mounted and balanced as well. My total bill was $180.51 which was an excellent price for the work I had done. read more

My husband and I were traveling home from a vacation at Emerald Isle and were pulling a 37 foot fifth wheel when we had a blow out on the RV. We pulled over and contacted our nationwide breakdown service. Three hours and 3 vendors later with a no show on our end, we googled and found this company. They were located a mile and a half away, so we drove with the flat to their location. I have never experienced such excellent service. It was closing time so they stayed late and ordered 5 new tires for us to be delivered the next morning. To top it off, the owner moved his RV from where it was parked on the property and hooked us up to 50 amp power and water where we spent the night. They had our tires on the next morning and we were on our way. Met some of the nicest people there who treated us like family. Highly recommend Modern Tire in Jacksonville. read more

Employees seemed nice problem is I called for quote on tire was given a range of $40-60 for a used tire. When I arrived was told by tire guy no $40 tires only this one for $60 Paid and on way home realized that total is now $86 was charged $70 so I call and ask they tell me tire guy said $70 which was not true. Now I based my decision to go there based on quote over the phone could have gotten a new tire for $100 25 mile's closer to me so yep not happy read more

Ok i don't really give bad reviews but here goes. I went to Modern tire to fix a slow leak on my tire. They were nice given the fact that my neighbor highly recommended them. So the gentleman who was fixing the problem tells me it's a slow leak from rim he will clean and put a sealer. 1 hour and $46 later i was told it was $23 for the patch and $20 for the labor. Now this is why I'm upset i asked how much it would be and the nice lady said $23. Never mentioned $20 labor. It is wrong and after having been hit hard with the hurricane i think it's just a way to make money off of good folks for the days they were closed. All i am saying is if u are transparent we will all get along and understand. Now i am broke because i gave them my last $46 read more

Stay away! These guys are dishonest and would not make right what they have wronged! Coming from a state that did not require inspections, they told us they could perform a Virginia inspection while in North Carolina and they were giving an oil change. Apparently they've told others the same thing as well. When I confronted them that this not right, they said they didn't know and wouldn't refund the fees charged. Thieves! read more

I had work done on my dually f350 in December.. My family and I had the worst experience with this over priced shop.. I had two tires installed on the front a front wheel alignment and when I picked up my vehicle not only was my bill double what anyone else would charge but I noticed a small exhaust leak. After being upset about my charge and concerned about the exhaust sound I went to talk to the manager or owner and I was put in contact with a man name Joe whom is the owners son. This man was very rude mind you he is scum and doesn't care about helping his customers after they receive your payment. I had another shop look at my truck and noticed I had two brand new cheap replacement catalytic converters on my truck. Im unsure as to why my exhaust was touched but after speaking with a few local gentleman I was told that this is not the first time they were hearing something like this. I was informed of a scam of modern tire selling the expensive factory catalytic converters oand install cheap 20 dollar replacements. I do not recommend anybody go to this business for anything.
