I haven't been to the physical store, but I had a dozen of the "stuffed" cupcakes delivered to me. They were SO delicious that I definitely need bigger pants! I really enjoyed that their frosting wasn't too sweet which allowed it to balance with the filling and the cake. You really can't go wrong with any of the flavors, because they're all delicious. I'm a bigger fan of a vanilla based cupcake, and the smores one stole my heart with the graham cracker cake! Minus one star because when I transferred the cupcakes to an air-tight container, but they dried up within 24 hours. I was definitely disappointed, because I was hoping they would have lasted a few days. I LOVE Molly's Cupcakes! I have tried cupcakes from an obscene amount of cupcake shops and NO ONE comes close to being as good as Molly's! I love the cupcakes, the story behind the shop, the decor, everything. I typically frequent the Lincoln Park location, but will pop in here when in the area. Now if I LOVE Molly's, why 4 stars instead of 5? Well, it's just in comparison to the original Lincoln Park location. I find a bit of a difference in the cupcakes. These are amazingly good, too...so...definitely go if you've never been! My go-to items are chocolate decadence, cake batter, and peach cobbler. I usually end up getting all three and then wonder why my waistline is expanding...haha! This time, I got chocolate decadence and peach cobbler. Peach cobbler was absolutely on point. The chocolate decadence is the one where I noticed a consistent difference between the two locations. The topping tastes different here...almost has a hint of a cherry/berry flavor which I don't care for. Again, nothing that would make me avoid this location. The Apple Crisp, Creme Brûlée, and Samoa were also incredible. The cupcakes are so flavorful, fluffy, and not overly sweet. After having dinner and cocktails at a nearby restaurant, I stopped in to pick up one of their great cupcakes to take home with me. This shop is in the heart of Streeterville - located in the River East building. The shoppe has a very cool vibe with a great display case front and center. There is a large menu hanging from the ceiling listing all of their various cupcakes, cookies and other goodies including drinks. There is a wall of windows for the natural light and to watch the world go by. There are various sizes of tables and like their other shoppes, the have "hanging chairs" in front of the counter. After reviewing the menu, I had ordered the Raspberry and Creme cupcake. Within couple of minutes, I had received my order to go as requested. The counter person was friendly. As we were walking by, I saw the name Molly's Cupcakes and remembered seeing it the previous night when we were looking for a place to grab dessert. They were already closed so we ended up someplace else, but not today...still open! As we walked in they have a warm cozy feel with some swings at the main counter. I am a huge fan of the original Molly's on Clark Street-- they have absolutely the best cupcakes I've ever had. This location is actually even better-- it's just a short jaunt east of the Mag Mile which makes it super accessible and they have ALL their flavors listed on the online ordering form, which is convenient if you're in the mood for a seasonally appropriate cupcake. I think, though I'm not 100% sure, that this location has a few more flavors (I noticed chocolate raspberry and S'mores on my last trip, which I had never seen at the original store); this may be due to a larger space! My favorites change depending on my mood but I'm currently obsessed over the blueberry cheesecake. I also love the apple pie, which is sadly, though fittingly, only available in the fall. The non center filled cupcakes, while less fancy than their center filled counterparts, are delicious and tender and you can customize to your hearts content! 7/15/2017 - While sightseeing in Chicago we walked into a cupcakes sign so of course, we had to go in. The cupcake boutique-style bakeshop was packed with locals and tourists alike. There are lockers by the back with tons of lunch boxes from shows and characters of my childhood. Knight Rider, Dukes of Hazard, etc. There were also these wooden swings to be used as chairs, super fun!!!. ALso, there is a huge black board on a wall with the Table of Elements and up top it says E=MC2 (Eat=Molly's Cupcakes) and other fun facts about the components of flour, vanilla, and baking soda. After looking at all their goodies in the glass case, I went with the Cake Batter and my friend went with the Peach Cobbler cupcake. They are served in cute little plates. I really loved the Peach Cobbler with the peach puree filling. The Cake Batter was just ok. Both were super fresh and moist as they are made right there. The Cake Batter is filled inside with liquid cake batter. Perfect little stop on our way to more walking....calories were burn I'm sure. read more

I don't care if the cupcakes are good. Get your ordering system and employee communication figured out instead of having your red faced and blatantly aggressive workerS yell at customers. Also due to one of the workers rage, she got my order wrong. I didn't want to correct her to suffer more of her wrath and disdain. Absolutely awesome cupcake. Creme Brulee - too sugary for my taste (but if you like creme brulee, you love this). The center is super liquidity. I tried to split this cupcake with someone and it was absolutely impossible since the center just ran out everywhere. Blueberry Cheesecake - tasted like blueberry pancakes. I loved the fresh blueberries, but was less a fan of the cupcake and cream cheese frosting. The frosting was more sugar than cream cheese and it melted before I even got home. Somosa Cupcake - way too sweet. Sugar taste and cream overpowered any specific flavor and hardly any cake. It was all filling and frosting. One note, the prices confused me. $2.50 for regular cupcake and $3,75 for filled. All the cupcakes I purchased were $3.75 (despite some not having fill). We ordered the chocolate raspberry and the Samoa (which is suppose to be like a Girl Scout cookie with marshmallow and coconut flakes) they were TOO RICH and that over powered the taste. So we did not enjoy our cupcakes. The service was nice and welcoming as soon as you walk into the door they always great you with a "hello welcome to Mollys" but the espresso they use also not what we were expecting. They use intelligista For some reason it's either the espresso or their machines. Blueberry cheesecake cupcake for the win! Very light and moist. It's wasn't overly sweet, and there was just the right amount of cheesecake filling. The blueberries tasted super fresh and the cinnamon graham cracker pieces added a nice crunch. No wonder they won cupcake wars. The store itself is really cute and spacious. Love the "school" theme they have going on from the periodic table on the chalkboard to the wooden swings. They also have a lot of different and seasonal flavors to choose from. Great place for dessert after dinner as it's open late. On the way back from the Navy Pier towards Robert's Pizza and Dough (highly recommend), we saw this place. We stopped by after dinner and the pier's fireworks show that we could see from the bridge outside of the pizza restaurant. There were so many options that it was hard to decide. We tried the very reviewed crème brûlée. It was the least favorite of the 4 we had. Besides the burnt sugar on top, I didn't get the essence of crème brûlée taste/texture (maybe I missed the filling center part or there wasn't much of it). The red velvet was good, but it didn't stand out to me. I think it was the chocolate salted caramel that had more of the rich chocolate flavor that I love though I'm not a salted caramel person. My favorite was the blueberry cheesecake that was the favorite of the person helping us. It's not a flavor that I would normally pick, but it was on the lighter/fresher tasting side. I think the filling and the cream toppings are what makes the difference in the cupcakes and make them worth trying. The cake itself was not special. But overall, the variety and options of flavors are fun/good. I liked the large open seating area with the cute swings for photos. I would definitely recommend stopping by this shop. read more

Not sure if I ordered the wrong items lol I tried 5 different cupcakes from mollys and while they are good for a cupcake; none of them really helped me understand why people are hyping over molly's cupcakes. I do really like their creme brule cupcake because the sweetness from the cake pairs well with the freshness of the berries and the custard helps with the dry cake. Other than that, the chocolate ganache is quite dense and not silky like it should be. The chocolate filling is just a scoop of the dense ganache which just ends up tasting like a dry dense cake. And the other fruity cupcakes or nutty cupcakes tastes more like extract than the fruit itself. The cake is dense, the butter cream is hard, almost split, a little greasy, the fillings are dense. I've never been a fan of cupcakes, because all of these things lol but it's not to say I haven't had cupcakes that impressed me. I've had cupcakes from 2 stores in chicago that I think are just the best in town, one is in lakeview north west from belmont red and the other one everyone already know lol i guess i'll just stick to what i like. I was visiting Chicago, and I walked past this place. I almost didn't go in, but then I read that they won Cupcake Wars. I'm a big fan of Sift (from the Bay Area), so I had to see what flavor options they had. I got the creme brulee cupcake because that's my favorite dessert too. It. Was. So. Delicious!! It's a vanilla cupcake (seems basic), but it was filled with a super delicious custard, and topped with the burnt sugar (creme brulee) and a couple pieces of fruit. If it was closer to where I was staying, I would've gone back every day while I was visiting. I will definitely go back next time I'm visiting Chicago.
