Called for a specific service today, Employee told me it would be $89 for what I needed. Recived a bill for $191 . Totally unexceptable. However, after a call back from Management I was re funded $102 and am very pleased with the professionalism & honesty of Monarch Home Services. What huge disappointment, thought Costco moved past One Hour Air and come to find out Monarch is just the new company name, same incompetent service personnel as before. Last time they quoted a repair that was 600% mark up on parts. So as of a couple days ago I made the mistake of using Monarch because their service person did a lousy job, used electrical tape for a repair that need a real fix that I came behind him and did correct by using hand tools which he must not know how to use or just lazy. Then he made a suggestion to replace dual run capacitor before it might go out. Left me a quote without a breakdown of parts & labor, cost of $344. So I checked part price online $20, called supply house in town $50. I do understand mark up plus labor. Oh by the way I'm a electrician, labor time would be under 15 minutes. So highly would not allow them at my home ever again. read more

Buyer beware. We used Monarch to come service our A/C unit in Tehachapi, only to receive a literal laundry list of "problems" that needed immediate service or replacement. We were quoted just under $8,000 to get everything "fixed". In our due diligence we had a few other A/C companies in town (well known and highly reputable) and literally had their techs look over the list from Monarch and scratch their heads. One tech literally said he had no idea what these guys were talking about in their quote to us, and he's been in the industry over 30 years. It sounds like these "service" guys are minimum wage salesmen, and they make their living quoting out large amounts of potentially unnecessary service. We are getting our unit serviced again by one of these other companies, and according to them, we do not have nearly all these problems that were listed out by the Monarch rep, nor will it cost anything close to what we were quoted with them. Monarch called to schedule a pre season tune up on out HVAC unit. Said they were having a special for $50. Sure, why not. Their technician came out and did his thing on the roof. He came down and said I needed a chemical clean of the unit, a new capacitor, a new control board and the evaporator was clogged. He took photos of everything to show me. He provided the photos in a report with no description of what needed to be done. He said he needed to call in to see how much it would cost to replace / repair the components. He came back and said the minimum recommended service was the capacitor, that would be $300 to replace. Are you kidding me! I am no HVAC technician but I know the cost of a capacitor and the ease of replacing them. Then he continues on with $300 to clean the Evap fins...I told him to stop, I wouldnt be using them to service my HVAC and he left. read more

We had some guys come out (because it's in our warranty) our heater wasn't working they checked out our unit came down and told us we needed a new valve and the estimate was around 400$ for labor. Come one day later we have a DIFFERENT company come out and they inform us that these previous guys had turned off our unit and our gas, and that there was absolutely nothing wrong with our unit. 10/10 would get a second opinion before trusting anything these guys say read more

Diagnosis was what I requested, but tech decided to do the repair before asking me for approval. Now, the heater worked only for two days, and it's taking multiple phone calls just to get a tech back, management are not available for us customers. I gave them my availability time and was given a confirmation. So far, no tech has showed. Monarch worst to deal with. Representatives said they don't care about me giving them a review online. It's not their fault, it's the management that just cares about taking people's money and tries to void warranty. Eventually tech arrived 4 hours after our confirmed time window frame and got charged another diagnosis fee. Representatives said he wouldn't charge me again because it's warranty. I've been using them since we bought our house in 2015 before when they were 1 hour. Last winter, I had service done the tech left tape on the safety switch. When we had a gas leak so I called socalgas they cut off the gas and tagged it because they said it may need repair as he's not a heating and cooling tech that he wasn't sure. So I called my home warranty and paid the 125 deductible for them to tell me no, it's not broken. The tech just forgot to take off the tape after they serviced your furnace. He explained they do that to keep the furnace from turning off while they are doing repairs. I let it slide. Fast forward to summer service. They come out to do the "service." Tech tells me I need to replace parts, and it needs to be done asap before the summer heatwave because it's going to break down, and you don't want that to happen during the summer. I told him my son's room doesn't get that cool. So he peeks in the attic real quick and says I need new ducting."" It's leaking, and the top layer is worn down. I told him to send me everything so I can show my husband and see if my home warranty will cover the repairs. He called me the next day asking if I wanted him to come by to fix it as he " has a opening ". I said no, I have an appointment with a tech with my home warranty. The tech from a different company comes i,show him the photos, and he looks confused. He said that everything is working as it should and my system is good and I don't need repairs. He went through each page of the monarchs report and said these were all fine. Monarch was trying to get me to do about 7 thousand dollars worth of work that I didn't need. The tech that came said he's had other customers from monarch that the same thing has happened to them. He said they are just trying to get money out of you. I called monarch because I wanted a refund for having to pay a $125 deductible for work they said I needed or my system would break. The manager kept trying to gas light me and said our techs are trained to recommend these things as an option. I kept telling him the tech said I needed it done or my system was going die. I got tired of going back and forth, so I told him to just take me off your list, and I will not be getting service done with you ever again,and I'll warn others. read more

Please be aware of this company. I had them out to check my ac and paid the $89 fee. The guy that came out didn't do anything besides take pictures and try to scam me. I am a disabled person on fixed income and he came up with a bunch of stuff supposedly wrong with my ac and tried to say it would be $1600.00 to fix and a new one would be my best option. Something didn't sit right with me so I called my brother who is an electrician (should've called him first) the only this wrong was a fuse that cost $2.58 for a 2 pack. This company quoted me a price for R22 refrigeration for my unit at $300/pound. This guy that showed up didn't even do a complete inspection of my unit. He didn't even go in the attic to make sure things were ok up there. I called someone else and was able to get the same refrigeration at $60/pound. He also did a complete inspection including going in the attic. Absolutely ridiculous!! If you live in Bakersfield you have to have air conditioning and this company is out there taking full advantage of people. DON'T use their services!! They suck!!! read more

I understand that David is new, but he has absolutely NO customer service skills, and no A/C skills. Every step of the way he was on his phone asking someone for direction. Training should be done in person and not a year into it. When you are in the middle of a heat wave, this is not a way to conduct business. I gave my trust to this company years ago...They have serviced my AC every year through costco, i never thought this co. would try to take advantage of us. Every year they tell me my air conditioner is about to go out and i need to replace parts before they go out or get a new system.(THAT WAS NOT AN OPTION).. it still works fine...This year they told me that my heater was separate from my AC (ITS NOT) and it needed serviced too...OK i thought for $59 bucks they could clean it and change filter. (Bargain) NOT...They came out and (I have no idea what he did on the roof, but he came to me with pictures telling me i have a crack in my HEAT EXCHANGE, and may be leaking carbon monoxide into the house! Although they didn't check, this was meant to scare me, and it did! (look up heat exchange scam) Anyway they RED TAGGED my system and shut off the gas!! They said a replacement may not be available due to its age, but if they could find it, it would cost over $1000.00 labor!! Never called about themn part or sent pics! I froze for two days and then a friend of my husbands told him about the scam and recommended I call Acclimate Air, (not to be confused with all climate) Carlos came out same day and took the system apart (which took an hour) then told me nothing was wrong with it and turned it back on!!!! He then checked every vent to see if carbon monoxide was present.NOPE! Monarch never emailed me the photos, or called me back about the replacement part. EXTREMELY DISSATISFIED!!!!!! Good evening. I was upsold a AC unit servicing at my local Home Depot a few weeks ago for $50, $40 if I used a coupon off of my AC filter. Since I was renovating my rental and knew the condensor needed cleaning, I bought in. When your representative called me to schedule, he told me they would clean the condensor unit, check temperatures, and the assess the whole system. I was impressed. All I had hoped for was a cleaning of the condensor. Well, we scheduled for the following Thursday when I would be in town. On Wednesday, the representative called me back to reschedule because an important account had an outage and required all of their services and they were the priority. Unfortunately, I had to reschedule for when my renters were already moved in and I was out of town. On Tuesday 10/16/18, Alma contacted me for payment for services. She asked me for $59.00. I had to tell her the price from Home Depot was $50.00. After manager approval, she accepted my $50.00 payment. I then asked her what they had to report about my home. She started by telling me they needed to do duct source cleaning. I asked her what that meant. After placing me on hold, she returned to say she couldn't explain it. I asked her to have the technician call me so he could explain everything. The technician called me and reported all of his findings. He started by telling me about the duct source cleaning, that the condensor coil was working well but that it was rotting due to what appeared to be caused by a large animal urinating on it. I replied to him that I know it looked bad, that's why I wanted them to come out and clean it. He then informed me that he hadn't cleaned it. That he wasn't there to do an AC service, but a winter unit servicing. I attempted to explain what I had been sold and expected. He said that's not what he was there for and couldn't do that. He told me that if he cleaned the condensor coil, that it was so rotted, that it may ruin it. I then called and asked to speak with the manager. I was given an associate named Nick. I explained all of the above. He repeated that they were selling a heating unit servicing to prepare for winter. I tried to explain what I was sold by Home Depot and your scheduling representative. He said "well, I can send him back to clean the condensor but I can't guarantee it won't ruin it." I was very upset at this point. I had just paid for a service that I was misinformed about and did not achieve the one thing I needed. I told him I would discuss it with my husband and call him back. After discussing with my husband, we agreed the $50.00 was gone and we had been misled, under different impressions, regardless, it was gone. We decided to add the damage to the condensor unit to our homeowners insurance claim we had currently going for damages by my last renter. I had surgery 10/17/18 so a week went by before we could proceed. I spoke with my homeowners. They asked for an invoice, detailed report of what your company had found. My husband attempted to call and speak with Nick on 10/23/18 3 times. Nick never returned his calls. Today, My husband asked for Nick and was told he wasn't there. He then asked for another manager. Nick magically appeared on the phone. We attempted to explain that we needed an invoice/detailed report of that service date. Nick informed us that he would send an email with the information. Attached is what I received. I do not understand why, when I had a service done on my home, I was not sent an invoice, detailed report, receipt for the work done. Why would I need to contact headquarters and jump through these hoops for something that seems to be standard work for all other organizations. I am very disappointed that I ever fell for an update by a cashier at a hardware store. I clearly made a poor decision and will reflect so on Yelp. That aside, I still require an invoice, detailed report, receipt of the work that was done. I am sincerely hopeful you have the ability to make this standard service occur so we can close this transaction. First, I was impressed with the speed they were able to make my appointment through Costco. Once he showed up he was the rudest misogynistic salesman "engineer" leave my home. High pressure sales tactics of giving you a quote and then demanding an answer on the spot. He made my wife terribly uncomfortable every time he told her that she wasn't qualified to make financial decisions about an A/C purchase and she needed me to be there. He told us that they provided what equated to a concierge A/C service and he would never be competitive with anyone else. He was going to spend over an hour pouring through the existing system. I told him that was unnecessary and I just wanted a new unit quote based on the size of the house. I would never buy something as expensive as an A/C without getting multiple quotes. He wouldn't even give me a quote based on that criteria. He left very upset stating that we would make terrible decisions and we would be calling him in 5 years. Please everyone safe yourself the headache and don't use Monarch Home Service... been years of dealing with them and yesterday I I thought ok I'll give the. Another chance! Worst mistake ever ... I purchased a new unit as they recommended a couple years ago... like others on here Upsold me on price by a ridiculous amount. Yesterday they came for a regular summer maintenance and not to my surprise they said my brand new unit needs all these services done to it. I allowed them to do a drain system clean and well long story short I paid the tech he left and a few minutes later my kids are calling me at work saying the air isn't working and mind you it was over 100 degrees yesterday! And mind you the unit was working perfectly fine before they arrived!! I don't know what Pedro did up there but he obviously broke something or didn't turn something back on. I called them before 4pm yesterday they said they would send someone out and never did... I'm here still waiting the next day! I called at least 5 times and all they tell me is they'll take a message and someone will return my call the next day?? Are you serious!!? I can't with these people anymore... BEWARE! Hmmm maybe I should call the Better Business Bureau and file a lawsuit on this company. It's sad ..I'm reading the same types of reviews on here with the same situations, wish I would have read these reviews before I allowed them to come back to my house for anything else. read more

Terrible experience. My AC went out during the recent heat wave & these guys said someone would call me before coming out that day (so I stopped calling other places). Near office closing time (it's confusing because I thought it was 24/7), I called to ask if they were still coming out, and the guy was surprised nobody had called me. He asked ME why they hadn't called me. He seemed flustered, and I heard him say "decline appointment" as he was typing his notes into the computer. I asked about that & he said it wasn't a big deal, and it would be taken care of between 8:00-10:00 the next morning. I called the next morning, and they had no record of an appointment. So I called elsewhere. I wasn't wasting another hot day waiting. I later received a call & voice message from a different guy verbalizing all of the things he would want to have documented about this encounter ("I'm following up and I see that you called and claimed to have an appointment, but the notes say that you declined an appointment, so please call us if you want to make an appointment."). And although there was no problem with the unit, they went above and beyond on a Sunday to help me with a problem that they we're not even responsible for . THIS COMPANY IS 100% UNETHICAL, DO NOT USE. They called and offered to come out to service my AC unit. The technician claimed he found a "weak" capacitor and offered to replace it. He happened to have one in his truck. The cost of the capacitor, $193.00 for a total bill of $252.00. I looked up the capacitor by brand and part number. The same unit is offered on line by several companies for less than $3.00, Supplyhouse.com offers it for $2.25. I called the manager at Monarch Home Services and asked for an explanation for this outrageous mark-up, but he blew me off, they absolutely don't care. Worst part, they tell me they had to cancel to take care of another client. Had my heater service on 12/3/21, original quote was $1551 found some more issues wrong so needed some more items to be replaced. After discussing with tech he quoted me $1800 more separate from the original price, i said ok and finished repairs. I noticed on my credit card i had 2 transactions one of $1551 and other of $4084 after discussing this with the tech he gave me the handwritten invoice showing the final amount that would be charged is $3550. The next day 12/4/21 i reached back out to Monarch to make sure it was caught on there end and the correct amount would be charged and the rest released to my card, Jessica assured me it would have. 12/7/21 both amounts posted to my account and i reached out to Monarch first thing in the morning Priscilla said they needed to reach out to the tech to figure out what is going on. After not hearing back i reached back out and said they haven't heard back from tech, i asked don't they have a company phone where they can just call him direct. She said yes let me try that, they finally came back and said we will credit your card the incorrect billed amount. I wish I would have never called them to service my unit, overpriced, seemed like everytime they looked at it more and more parts needed to be replaced,pushing there home protection service after i said no everything needed replacing. Was a battle reaching anyone that would figure out why i was overbilled and for me to get my credit back had to jump through hoops. Left plenty of messages to call me back and never would. I would not recommend Monarch for anything and will never use them again or recommend to anyone. read more

I just used this company Monarch home services also known as One Hour Heating & Air and replaced my whole house Air conditioning system with a 26 Seer Lennox signature series and furnace. I also had a 21 seer Lennox mini split system installed in my garage home gym. They did a fantastic job and I even had an issue with the variable speed motor going out and stop working after the second day of installation I called in for help with my temperature going up and a broken AC system and my wife was having a party with her girlfriends. In a little longer than an hour I had a tech and my house and that diagnosed the problem and the main supervisor lived pretty close and had the same unit so he pulled his fan motor from his own house and brought it over and installed it on my unit to give us AC for everything. That was above and beyond customer service and they ordered the new part. They installation workers were very nice all of the time and had good attitudes they also made sure to cover their shoes with blue slip on every time they came in the house. I have to say that this company is very professional and made sure my wife and I were satisfied with their service. read more

Had a new ac unit installed on 8/2/2018 by this company. The guy who came to do the estimate (Julio) was very thorough and even took pictures up in the attic showing why our 16 years old system was no longer working efficiently. This company is based in Bakersfield and my property is in Delano but the installer (Roy) and his assistant (Moises) promptly came at the appointed time (8 AM). They did not leave until after the work (which included putting the new 5 ton ac unit outdoor, installing the new gas flex/valve in the attic, and duct cleaning) was completed at about 6:30 PM. What's good with this company is that you will not pay more than the price estimate. read more

I found this company while at Costco looking to have our duct work redone. We had 2 unit area completed which too 4 days. The 2 men, Roy and Moses did the installation and did a AMAZING job. They were professional, wore shoe covers, answered all of my questions and concerns and were very respectful and courteous. I have 2 young children and they worked around are schedule and stayed late until 6:30 pm to get the job completed. They cleaned up after themselves everyday as well! I loved my experience with this company even the sales man Jose did a great job! I would definitely recommend this company in the future especially the install guys read more

The people who came to do the installation was great. After the system is being installed there has been issue with paperwork. 7/1 I realized that the purchased amount on the contract and the purchased amount presented to the financing company has almost $3000 different. I contacted Monarch and they came up with a solution which I didn't agree with. I also had filed a complaint with Costco. Costco intervened and Monarch had to abide by the contract which means I win the case. System got installed on 6/25. 7/6 the state inspector came to check the system and it passed the inspection. Monarch supposedly give me instructions so I can go schedule the city inspection. Until today 8/1, Monarch didn't give me any instructions info. I have to give them a call to check the status and waiting to hear from them. Also, I am supposed to get my Costco rebate. According to my Costco Purchased Order, rebate should take 4-6 weeks. It's been a little over 5 weeks. I called Costco today and they didn't even have any info of my purchased! I am started to think that this company trying to retaliate against me by delaying my inspection and my rebate. FYI, this company also dba as one hour heating and air. Costco used them in 7 different Costco locations! So disappointed with my experience. I won't use them ever again and even refer them to other people. Please beware. read more
