We are not from the area and pulled into their parking lot to make some calls. I googled the reviews which looked good so we decided to go in to eat while waiting. Glad we did.. I'm not Armenian however eating their food made me feel nostalgic. The woman working there was also delightful. I'd highly recommend this place if you're in the area. read more

This is a new restaurant in our neighborhood and we decided to give it a try. I appreciate the fact that it has a separate parking lot which made life easier. We walked in and a very friendly and smiley gentleman by the name of Niko helped us out. He explained the menu thoroughly and in great detail and helped us choose our dishes. We got the large tray Monta with the yogurt sauce and the tomato sauce on the side, the soup of the day which was lentil soup, and two pieces of boureg. We grabbed some of the delicious spicy sauces they had on the counter and grab the seat. Not long after the Montana was out, along with the bouregs and the soups came out last. Niko was nice enough to bring out two pieces of koofta, which is essentially meatballs, and told us they're new to the menu and wanted our opinions. They were delicious! Full of flavor. Loved it. It was time to dig in and the monta was absolutely delicious. It was crispy on the outside and extremely tender and flavorful on the inside. The tomato and the yogurt sauces were the perfect addition and complemented monta very well. The lentil soup was also very delicious and tasted just like a homemade lentil soup. The bouregs were amazing as well. Very flaky and the cheese was melted evenly. Amazing! Overall the food here is fantastic and so are the workers and we will definitely be back. read more

I have tried Monta at couple restaurants and I have tried homemade. I'll give it to this it is housee made and time and effort put to make Montas. They have a very plain menu for the montas. Would be nice to be able to put other toppings instead of the 2 or 3 options you have. read more

The Monta dish is delicious. The description, cross between a meatball and potsticker is a good one. The seasoning of the meat is very flavorful. The tomato and yogurt sauces make it even better. I went with my Mom and she really liked it too. This place is a family owned restaurant where the old Foster's was located. VJ was nice and made sure we enjoyed our meal. We will be back! read more

Get in here and try some monta. They're little meat-filled dumplings packed into a tray with a red sauce and garlic yogurt topping. I love Armenian food and had never even heard of monta. You can't really get them anywhere else but here. Also, don't forget to grab a beoreg. It's a delicious pasta-ish pastry stuffed with cheese and toasted to perfection. Is hard to explain. Just get one. You'll love it. Nico helped us out at the counter. He was super friendly and helped us choose the right amount of food for our hunger-level. New place to try where Foster Freeze used to be. My first time ever to try this food. Tried the Monta and Beoreg. Both were very good. Monta are little meat filled pastry rolls. By little I should say tiny. But you get a bunch of them. They have 2 sizes Hungry (you get 40) & Hangry (75). The meat is deliciously seasoned. It comes with a thin tomato sauce and a thick garlic yogurt sauce. You can get them on top or on the side. They also have a Veggie version. Will try that next time. Cheese Beoreg is a square cheese pastry (? Not really sweet). It has a thin crispy pastry and then pasta like layers and the cheese. Flavorful but subtle. I actually used it to sop up the rest of the tomato and garlic yogurt topping of the Monta. Fantastic! They have chicken and salmon sandwiches and salads. And 2 soups. Tomato based with monta. And a creamy garlic yogurt based one with monta. Didnt try any of these. A little pricy but the beoreg were only $2.75 for a medium sized portion. Very clean place. Great smiling patient customer service. Lots of free parking in their lot. Such a bonus these days. That and the good food will bring me back for 2nds. read more

What a gem of a place! Brand spanking new restaurant that is so bright, light, and inviting. Not to mention smells great inside. Monta factory location replaced what was once a Fosters Freeze. Pletora of parking, and bathrooms are super clean major plus! Monta is an Armenian baked dumpling. Think tortellini, or Chinese xlb except baked. This is truly homemade, you can see the ladies roll out the dough in front of you at the counter. Baked to perfection. I ordered the Monta hungry tray perfect for 2. It is nice and crunchy with a soft meaty center. The meat is well seasoned, topped with mint, tomato sauce and garlic yogurt as an accompaniment. I prefer to get the sauces on the side to keep the texture of the dumpling crunchy. They have a garlic cream soup I tried another visit which was amazing. The soup itself was so well put together. Very smooth, light, creamy broth with baked extra crunchy mini Monta dumplings. This would be so good to get on a cold winters day. They also offer a tomato based for those that are dairy-free. They also have cane sugar Jones soda fountain. My favorite is the Berry Lemonade. Definitly will return to try other things on their small menu, kinda wish they would have some more offerings of sides but I understand they let the Monta shine as their star. P.S. What a great gem! My bf is Armenian and has raved to me for a while that Manti-baked dumplings-is his favorite dish. As someone who doesnt eat red meat, I didn't think Id ever get to try it. We were driving near it and I said "can we ask if theres a vegetarian option?" And he sounded extremely doubtful, as its usually made with beef. I walked in and asked politely, and to both of our surprise, they had a version made with impossible meat. Yes, if you dont eat red meat, you can still try how armenian manti is supposed to taste like! We also got a side of eech, which is a bulgar wheat salad. We brought it home and doused the manti with their provided tomato and garlic yogurt sauces. The result-delicious as someone who is trying Armenian manti for the first time. And my bf said it tasted "exactly" like the traditional meat version. There you go! Eech was delicious as well. Great local business. Advice to management-please please consider making a larger size version of the impossible meat/vegetarian manti!! So many people here in California don't eat beef, and the small version is only good for 2 people to share. Would be great if a size can be made for sharing. read more

I had high expectations from this place considering its called Monta factory thinking they would specialize in monta since thats what they're supposed to be famous for. Well... Not sure who owns this establishment, but it is known that you are supposed to use thin filo dough. This is how the Lebanese and Syrian Armenians do it and the way its supposed to be. The dough was so THICK, the meat bland and the yogurt did not have enough garlic. If you know manteh, you will not be happy with this. I seriously doubt the owner is Lipanantsi or Halebtsi and these are the people who know about manteh. read more

Favorite new neighborhood spot! Salmon salad was grilled and seasoned perfectly, with super-fresh mixed greens. Yogurt soup was tangy and extremely delicious with the savory monta nuggets popped inside! I have a couple of requests: - I know most Armenians (because I *am* Armenian) want everything packaged neatly in separate containers (ie. so salad doesn't wilt with a hot piece of fish on top). I would really like to see a compartmentalized box so the salmon can go on one side and the salad on the other. Better yet, a cardboard box that is biodegradable. - I would love it if the hot soup wasn't poured into flimsy plastic containers. This especially will keep me from getting takeout as often, because I don't like plastic in my soup. Food and service was delicious and healthy. So, just those couple of suggested tweaks before I move in... thank you! read more

This property has a lot of history for me. It used to be Foster Freeze and when I was in high school (a very long time ago), we would ditch school and hang out at Foster's. So walking in there today for the first time in years was already an experience down memory lane for me. I got a monta tray and a dozen stuffed grape leaves (sarma). The monta was exactly how my mom would make them years ago! Even better but I would never admit that to mom. When I was a kid, mom and I would sit around the table making monta and it was my job to fill the dough with the meat. A small amount on a pre cut piece of dough that mom had laid out for me. Then we would close them up into canoe shapes and into the oven they went. It's a great memory and those memories were conjured up today as mom and I ate our monta from Monta Factory. GREAT food and honestly, THE BEST STUFFED GRAPE LEAVES I HAVE EVER HAD! Sorry for yelling, but seriously - - I'm Armenian and have eaten a LOT of grape leaves in my long life and Monta Factory has THE BEST! I can still taste the hint of chili in my mouth from lunch and to be honest - - I was considering going back in for dinner. Really, REALLY looking forward to going back. Never heard nor had tried monta before although I've lived here in Glendale for a really long time and have always loved middle eastern food. Thanks to Monta Factory- I'm now a fan. For those that do not know these are baked mini dumplings shaped like little canoes with either some seasoned ground meat or a ground up vegetable blend in the middle. It comes with this light tomato based sauce and a creamy garlic sauce that you can either have on the side or smothered directly to it. And because it's baked, it is not at all greasy and heavy. It's made fresh so it had that crunchy bite to it. It also wasn't too spicy but not at all bland. I also got the Cheese Boureg - i am a little familiar with this and it's one of the best I've had. The guy helping me was very friendly and professional. One thing you won't get with big fast food companies are real personal conversations. They had pride in what they served. I personally can't believe why Armenian Pizza is way more popular than this for non-Armenians. read more

Found the Monta Factory on Yelp, read all the great reviews and decided to give it a shot. One word describes this place: "Amazing" We had 2 large orders of the Monta 1 tray of Sou Boureg 2 of the Monti Soup The food was amazing and we are looking forward to our next trip to this restaurant. I really like the fact that they prepare traditional Armenian dishes vs the regular Shish Kebob pop up restaurants we see everywhere. Location is nice and clean, very nice decor and the Jones soda is awesome. Pricing was very fair and the service was excellent. read more

Oh guys thank you for opening here!!! We needed something fresh and healthy and delicious in this area ! The food here is amazing! My favorites : monti dumplings in creamy garlicky yogurt soup with olive oil and mint is incredible!!!! The wild Alaskan salmon on ciabatta with Aleppo peppers, tahini , sea salt and spring mix is absolutely the best and big enough for two people! Quick service with quality food. The small menu allows the dishes to have quality and impactful flavor. My bf and I both got monta's mine was vegetarian and I was so happy to see a bean filling rather than the gmo filled impassible meat that lazy restaurants use. My bf said it tasted just like his beef filling. The cashier checked on us to make sure we had everything we needed. The aesthetic is like a cute dinner and very clean. read more

This is great! I've driven past Monta Factory hundreds of times and was always curious. Just stopped by for lunch and it did not disappoint. Handmade, wonderful, dumplings with a perfectly balanced tomato sauce and wonderfully flavored garlic yogurt sauce. Staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. This is a unique little dish, with tiny little intricate dumpling-like pouches laid out in a single layer in a tray in a pizza box. I have one wish, and that wish is not to have poured the accompanying tomato sauce and yogurt over the monta before trying it first. The monta alone are pretty good - like crispy-skinned little meatballs. But the tomato sauce and yogurt are really disappointing. The sauce is just thin and flavorless, like someone poured water into a half full can of marinara. And the yogurt: no garlic that I could detect. It seemed like they just got it straight out of a yogurt tin, like I was supposed to be putting granola and honey into it. I recommend taking it home and saucing it yourself with, I don't know, whatever you like on dumplings. Anything would be preferable. read more

After my facial treatment at the skin care place across the street I was looking for a vegetarian lunch option nearby. I had never eaten Monta, this place offered a vegetarian option so I decided to try it. INITIAL ORDER: -Veggie Monta -Beoreg (tastes like mac and cheese) -Monta tomato soup (veggie version) ADDED LATER: -Eech (bulgar) salad -grape leaves While waiting in the dining area for my order a very nice woman, who I believe to be the owner, came over and asked if this was my first time in the restaurant. When I replied "yes" she welcomed me and said that she really wanted me to try their Eech salad. She brought me a sample of both the eech and the grape leaves. She explained that their grape leaves were thinner than ones we usually get because she uses her grandmother's recipe. Both the grape leaves and the salad were super tasty so I ended up adding them both to my order! I can't say how this Monta compares in the world of Monta, as this was my first and only experience with it. I can say that everything I ordered was fresh and had really good flavor. I enjoyed my meal, and I will definitely come here again when I am in the area. Possible CON (if you are in a hurry): the Monta is pre-prepped but they bake it to order, so the wait time is about 20 minutes. read more

Wow. Had the chicken sandwich here. So fresh and delicious. I also highly recommend the Monte, it's hand crafted and made fresh from scratch. You can see them making it right in front of you from the outside window looking into the kitchen. Great food overall. read more

I'm honestly surprised this restaurant doesn't have a line out the door. The mante here was absolutely incredible--hands down the best I've had since my grandmother's. For those who may not know, mante is a traditional Greek dish consisting of delicate dumplings, usually filled with spiced meat, then baked or steamed and topped with a rich sauce. The version served here was perfectly prepared--the dumpling dough was thin yet tender, the filling flavorful and well-seasoned, and the sauce balanced everything beautifully. I have to admit, even my mom's mante can't quite compete with this (sorry, Mom!). This place is a hidden gem that deserves far more recognition. read more

These monta were good! We got a large order and split it between 3 hungry people, but it could feed 4. We got take out, so I can't speak to anything but the food. Regarding take out, the monta came with the tomato and yogurt sauce already on it; this made the monta soggy, which we didn't love. I don't know if it's an option to get the sauces on the side, but that would make it better (to dip, rather than drench). We also got the eech salad, which tasted off. I found Monta Factory's mante to be quite mediocre. The dough didn't have the authentic texture or flavor I associate with good mante, and the meat filling was unfortunately bland. I would have much preferred going to Mante House in Tujunga, but it was closed. I also tried their su boregi, which lacked flavor and was overall disappointing. read more

My partner got the combo Lula, and it was decent, but to me it wasn't exceptional compared to other local kabob spots (cause there are a lot of good kabob places in Glendale). The hummus was smooth, fresh, and had just the right amount of garlic. The tabbouleh was also solid, but the standout for me was the rice-soft, buttery, and easily one of the best I've had in the area. Definitely looking forward to coming back and trying more dishes.

Super big, warm beorek (sp?) for under $5 (way better than price than the $7 emapanada I get in SM and in a lot of ways tastier). Had spinach and cheese in a hearty phyllo dough. Super filling and flavorful. I think I liek the zhengyalov hatz better, but this is way more bang for the buck. Woman at the counter was super super friendly. They had a couple of tables to eat at, would like to try the lahmajune next time. Never knew the name of that dish til now.

Easy parking behind the restaurant but spots itself and lot is pretty small so I can imagine it being hard to snag a spot on weekends. BBQ plate with rice was 4.75/5 for me. Came with lavash, salad, hummus, red onions and peppers. Meat was very aromatic/smoky and not too salty. Great flavor that really highlighted the natural flavors of the beef and paired really well with the white sauce. All the vegetables from the salad was very fresh and not wilted. Though, the meat was slightly tough compared to other spots I've tried like Mini Kebab a few blocks away but the flavor here was superior in my opinion. If the meat was less tough and had bit more fat would have been a 5/5 for me. Fries 5/5. The seasoning is what makes these! Really enjoyed these even though I normally prefer thin cut. These thick fries was a great combination with the bbq plate and still stayed a bit crispy after the takeout journey home. This paired really well with their tomato based red sauce (not ketchup by the way). I will say that the food did take about 30mins to be ready which is longer than we expected considering there was nobody there before us. After trying the food and tasting the charcoal flavor I can see why it took longer than the other places...well worth the wait just have to maybe call ahead if in a hurry. Would definitely come back when I am in the area. What makes them unique is that they use charcoal and the vegetables were very fresh. That smoky flavor really adds a different dimension!!

That seemed like a fair price, and the reviews were good. The sandwich was not enormous, but just the right amount of food for one person. So, do not expect to share a wrap here... it's just enough for one person. The fries were flavorful and nicely seasoned. The wrap itself was tasty and had great sauces. There is a seating area, but it is essentially outside with a covering. Since most days in the city are great, you can generally eat there. However, cold weather may have you getting your meal to go. All in all, this was a good experience. I would visit again and get another one of their specials. Also, expect to pay extra for using a credit card over paying in cash. That was a bit of a surprise, because I do not recall seeing that sign posted.
