We came just for the dueling pianos - it was a last minute decision so we came with full bellies. The music was great and they did a good job of taking suggestions from the audience. Our initial drink orders were taken promptly, but after that, the servers were scarce. Seems like that was an issue from the weekend before as well, so maybe an acute staffing issue (summers are hard!) I love that there wasn't a cover charge and for this reason alone, I would definitely a regular if I were a local!

We tried Moon fish for dinner tonight along with dueling pianos. Our waitress was named Noreen. And she was awesome. We reserved a table through OpenTable and was able to sit close to the piano. The fish special was awesome and the mustard crusted chicken. Was GREAT. WE WILL COME AGAIN SOON.

Just popped by, via my bike, for mimosas & they absolutely hit the spot. Scott was more than accommodating , as I was not ordering food. He even brought me fresh strawberries to accompany my mimosas. Sat outside on the patio- I live in town & am so happy Moofish & the Crowne Plaza are here. Next time, breakfast!

We are staying at the hotel and decided to try their restaurant for an early dinner. It felt like we had a private romantic restaurant to ourselves. The restaurant is very clean and has a wonderful menu selection. Jay was our server and he was helpful with just the right amount of attentiveness. We started with a heavenly strawberry, spinach salad, and a bowl of their clam chowder. My husband ordered the New York steak with mashed potatoes. It came with a lovely bourbon type sauce on the side, and the vegetables were a nice summer blend. I ordered the grilled prawns which was served with linguine and a grilled lemon and saffron sauce, SO Yummy! They use locally sourced ingredients whenever possible. Apparently, they have dueling pianos on Friday and Saturday nights. We will be sure to try that out soon. This is a great restaurant in a nice location with fair market value, pricing, casual and sophisticated. I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.

We stayed in the hotel for a retreat. The organization paid for a Friday dinner, Saturday breakfast voucher / lunch / dinner, and Sunday breakfast. 1. Each breakfast was in the Moofish cafe. Saturday, we had the mocha coffee, salmon toast, avocado toast, and surfers' Benedict. Sunday, mocha coffee, avocado toast, and medium-rare steak and eggs. 2. Buffet lunch was Mexican style. Liked the fork-sized pieces of churro with chocolate sauce OR dulce de leche sauce. 3. Ingredients are probably local, so they could advertise as such!

I try to be as generous as possible when writing reviews, but this is, without a doubt, the worst restaurant I have been to the entire time I have lived in Ventura. My wife and I decided to try this place, since they were having a dueling piano event (which are every Friday and Saturday night). We made a reservation and were seated right away in chairs. Things quickly went downhill, starting with us sitting around in chairs (that are hard as a rock) for 10 minutes or so for anyone to come to our table. We finally get to place our order, which included the Brussel spouts, fish and chips, and the Moofish burger. We were a little surprised when the Brussel sprouts came out on a plastic plate with little to no actual seasoning, but things got worse...much worse! The fish was the driest fish I have ever eaten, and the burger was lower quality than I got in my high school cafeteria. It seriously looked and tased like it had been a frozen patty (came out well-done when we ordered medium), and you could have replaced the bun with a sponge and I don't think anyone would have noticed. A few bites into our meals and I asked my wife if we should just call the meal a loss and go get in-n-out, but she was committed to hearing the pianists play the song we paid to hear (a point I return to below). Neither of us finished our meals. We also asked for water and ordered several drinks. We didn't receive water until about halfway through our meal, and one of the drinks they couldn't make because they didn't have the ingredients. The server was extremely kind and did her best to make a similar cocktail to the one my wife had wanted, but it is worth noting that there were only a handful of cocktails on the menu. Finally, the dueling pianos. They were entertaining and, per usual, were accepting requests you could submit with paper they handed out to all tables. I wanted to hear the Campfire Song from SpongeBob Squarepants, and we threw in a dollar tip to hear it. It wasn't much, but most people weren't giving anything. After our terrible meal we sat around waiting for the song and the pianists not only played the SpongeBob intro instead of the Campfire Song, he proceeded to say afterwards "I can't believe someone paid me a dollar to play that s#!t". So yeah, we won't be back, and I will be actively telling people to avoid this place. In short, we spent around $120 on terrible food and were indirectly insulted by the pianist. At the very least, the experience was so terrible that my wife and I now have something to look back on with laughs.

    Breakfast burrito

A Fantastic Breakfast with Even Better Service My husband and I stopped in for breakfast during our stay and couldn't have been happier with our experience. We enjoyed our meal out on the patio, which was bright, comfortable, and perfect for a relaxing morning. I ordered the country fried steak, and it was easily one of the best I've ever had - perfectly cooked, generously portioned, and topped with delicious gravy. The biscuit it was served on was by far the best I've had in California! I'm from the 'South' and I know biscuits! The breakfast potatoes were crispy and flavorful. My husband went with the breakfast burrito, which came with chips and salsa and was packed with hearty ingredients. We both cleaned our plates! The service was absolutely wonderful. Sarah took great care of us, friendly, attentive, and welcoming from start to finish. Great food, great atmosphere, and great service. We'll definitely be coming back!

The Good: * Fast-casual: order at the counter, get a buzzer, and then pick it up from the aforementioned counter. * Friendly service * Location is superb with amazing beach and coastal views--especially if you take your food upstairs to eat at the Madewest Brewing, Co. Taproom. However, there are caveats to this (see below). * Beers on tap and cocktails--but if you plan to eat upstairs at Madewest, then you can't bring alcohol from Eric's and vice-versa. * I wish the poke bowl was a little less saucy but overall it was still a very tasty bite. The Meh: * It's a little pricey, but not horrible considering the location. The Ugly: * The parking lot adjacent to the beach/pier is free Mon-Thu but $1/hr Fri-Sun (4hr Max) Conclusion: Seafood, suds, and surf. 'Nuff said...

Ericssons Fish Co. was far and wide the best place I've eaten at and it's not remotely close. The restaurant is situated right on the peer, so the ocean views are amazing. The service was excellent, great local tap beer selection (namely Madwest, which is next door), and the food was phenomenal. It's a bit on the pricier side, but the quality of the seafood justifies the price imo. If you're looking for a laid back beach joint, Ericsson's is definitely it.

Biggest issue was the loud cricket working as a beverage/bar runner she stood at the end of the bar talking loudly to other staff and laughing obnoxiously the whole time. It was a solid grilled fish taco with not a ton of pomp and circumstance. Just unadulterated goodness. Fast forward to my recent visit - it didn't quite hit the same though I'm sure my palette has since evolved. The World Famous grilled fish taco ($7.95) was good, but was only made better with the in house sweet chili fire sauce. Of the things we ordered, I did really enjoy the ahicado ($13.75) which is ahi tuna mixed in lemon infused olive oil on top of avocado and served with wonton chips. I love a wonton chip situation and paired with the fresh ahi, it made for a perfect bite. The guy next to us ordered several Parmesan hard shell tacos ($5.50) so I did too (with shredded chicken). The flavorful chicken was perfectly shredded so you didn't get unmanageable hunks with each bite. These were unexpectedly very tasty. Highly recommend if you like a hard shell sitch. Judging from the lines at 2:00PM on a Saturday afternoon, Spencer MaKenzie's is a Ventura institution even if I won't be thinking about the grilled fish tacos n-e-more. PSA: dining on the patio is the move even if you have to wait.

I thought the tacos would be decent, had a good attitude coming here, but boy, what a nice surprise this place was! Small line in front, you order, pay, go inside, wait for your order at pick up window. Simple! Tables on the pier, and they have a patio facing the ocean, nice view. Picnic tables! They sell wine, beer, margarita-s. Great selection! But the tacos!!! We got 4 between me and my husband to share and sample: Baja Taco (got fried fish) had fresh ingredients, lettuce and a nice lime flavor! Beach House Tacos (got grilled fish), nice pineapple salsa, tender fish, nice sauces and lettuce. Calamari Taco - fried calamari - fresh avocado and cabbage, nice sauce - chipotle. Marilu Taco with popcorn shrimp with nice chile lime crema, not too spicy. Even the fried seafood here is fresh, not very fried, just a tad, nice and crispy, but not greasy. Loved every taco, they are all different than each other, they use fresh ingredients and vegetables, each had a great, original flavor, they don't skimp on anything - seafood or ingredients. By far, some of the best tacos I ever had, they go in my Top 5. 4 Tacos (they are big!) are enough for 2 people. My and my husband we also shared a portion of guac and chips, they reminded us of Mexico. The guac had a lime flavor and well mashed, the tortilla chips are thicker and extra friend. Great food, nice service, unpretentious taco stand on Ventura Pier. Nice views. Wonderful discovery and a nice place to eat at! I am a fan!

Inside were three of the smallest "street tacos" I've ever seen. I've seen more substantial meals in Barbie's Dreamhouse. I ordered the carne asada, but apparently the salt shaker took the day off because the meat had absolutely zero seasoning. No salt, no flavor, no redeeming qualities. The punchline?
