Seating is first come first serve, but we were able to get a large table to accommodate everyone. Delicious pizza made with fresh ingredients and the large is enough for a family of four! The service was exceptional for a Friday night, our 13 year old and his friends were well taken care of and the 2 large pizzas fed them perfectly. Looked for a new place to find good pizza and picked Moon River Pizza. I split a pie with a co-worker. They got bacon and my half was onion. I went to pick it up because it may have been to far for delivery and I wanted to see the restaurant in person. The restaurant is on a street that is being renovated and is filled with food options. I dreamed of taking the rest of my miserable day of work off and making my own food tour...... to dream. I'll do it another day down the road because this is a dream that everyone can make come true. Moon River Pizza is a very respectable looking pizza place/restaurant. It was filled to capacity at 12:30pm and all the employees were friendly and welcoming. I told them my name grabbed a couple of sodas and left with my pizza. I already saw myself getting a pizza from there for my family in the future. Now to the important stuff. The pizza is great. New Jersey pizza great. My onion pieces were incredible. Filled with onion and cheese. A delicious sauce and crust that felt like it was made with water imported from the northeast. My co- worker lived the pizza too. Hopefully, the next visit will be as great a the 1st. I'm hopeful that the pizza just didn't seem great because my work day completely sucked. However, a Wawa just opened a couple of miles from my house and I may be buying subs for a couple of weeks before returning here. I will definitely be returning for more pizza and to try a Calzone but it may be a few weeks from now. read more

We were excited to be in this area tonight and go to Moon River. I didn't realize the hubby had not been to Moon River since we moved from Fernandina several years ago. The Greek salad was nice, the pizza delicious and the service top notch. We had several adult beverages while waiting and enjoyed those as well. Their pies, calzones, and pizzas are all delicious! Fresh ingredients and made to order. The only reason for the four star rating was the really rude, obnoxious family that decided to sit behind us and basically ruin our experience. I know there is nothing the restaurant can do but honestly I would have called the police to get them removed. Ridiculous behavior and looking for trouble. Moon River Pizza The last time I visited Riverside to review Lola's Burritos I noticed at least a half dozen restaurants that I'd heard about repeatedly here and throughout social media. This time I ended up in Avondale hoping to try Josephine. Poor planning on my part and I missed their lunch and way too early for dinner. So I took the opportunity to walk about the streets. I passed a French sweets spot, a chocolatier, The Brick, Biscottis, Southern Grounds, MOJO #4, Mellow Mushroom, Blue Fish Oyster Bar and lastly Casbah. It's been over 10 years since I'd stepped foot in Casbah my only other time back when I worked Ruth's Chris downtown. I sat in for some coffee and hummus. Both were excellent. While waiting out the torrential spring up shower I asked my server what pizza she'd recommend. Without hesitation and to no surprise she said Moon River. I really just needed affirmation. So off I went a mile down the road. Within a few steps of the door I was cheerfully greeted by Cin(sp). "Hi sweetie what are you having?" I love southern charm. "I have no idea" I explained letting the next guy order. Around the corner appeared Jason with all the friendly charisma of Cin but a red beard to boot. "What can I get you buddy?" I ordered their meat lover T-REX ($26) all the meats plus extra mozzarella. I grabbed a Coke and a large booth next to a trio of JSO's finest and watched a commemorative showing of Pee Wee's Big Adventure as he passed from cancer at age 70 that day. Everyone, including the officers ‍ were a little bummed. Out came my pizza pie oven hot and aromatic. The toppings were huge chunks of meat mortared with melty mozzarella. I sabotaged my own cheese pull by recutting but it had epic potential. For all the debate on New York vs Chicago vs Detroit vs Napolitano Moon River is a terrific traditional hearty hand tossed pie baked to perfection with a robust sauce that squeezes out as you approach the crust. Incredibly flavorful off the pan and just a dash of grated Parmesan, some crushed red pepper and a few banana peppers and I was in Pizza Paradise. The vibe was totally chill with some cross between EMO punk and Wilco playing overhead. More than a few times I could hear staff singing along in the back, something I absolutely love to hear, signs of a happy crew and positive work environment. The first time I tried to visit Moon River was when I was already in the area but it happened to be on a Sunday and they were closed. I returned just at opening time months later to try a slice of their pizza. Like many shops that offer single slices, they had tons of half baked cheese pizzas on racks waiting for customers to add the topping before they put them in the oven to finish cooking. I ended up getting a piece of pizza with onions, peppers, pepperoni, and Italian sausage. I added a Greek salad and an order of "breadstyx". After 10 minutes, my to go order was ready. The crust on the pizza was nice and crisp and the cheese was well melted. Aside from the pepperoni, the toppings were kind of just thrown on and they were sparse. I couldn't really justify the extra $2 of toppings. The cheese sticks had the same great dough that was used for the pizza and they were soft and pillowy. I love very cheesy cheese sticks and I thought these were lacking some in the amount of cheese on them. But even though some of them were more bready, they were still very good. I probably should've just stuck with the pizza but I often like to add green veggies to my meals. Unfortunately, the salad was disappointing and it looked sad. It was as if they just used the toppings they had for the pizzas and put them on top of a bed of large lettuce leaves and called it a Greek salad. White onions were used instead of red onions, tomato slices replaced cherry tomatoes, kalamata olives were substituted with black and green olives, mushrooms were added, and the caesar dressing (on a Greek salad) was too thick and tasted like it had a mayonnaise or miracle whip base. The taste was offputting so I ended up using a dressing that I had at home. Overall, I enjoyed the pizza and breadsticks mostly due to the great crust. The value is probably much better with ordering a whole pizza so the toppings can be plentiful. At $.50 for each topping that is added to the cheese pizza slices, I am not sure that it is worth it. I wish that they already had some specialty pizzas that they sold by the slice and a better Greek salad, which was a miss all around. read more

Love grabbing to go slices from here. They're always great portioning and the pie is super reasonable. The staff here always seem to be passionate about the accuracy and quality of the orders too. As far as the restaurant it feels super clean and feels just like what you would expect from a local pizza shop. It doesn't feel too upscale but just right and family friendly. read more

Came here for lunch after a day of thrifting with a friend. I wanted to know if they had gluten free crust and they did. They also had vegan cheese. I asked about pesto and they had that too. Finally I was able to enjoy a pizza after so long. I thanked the cashier profusely because I love pizza and I missed eating it. I made sure to add pepperoni for old times sake. The place is pretty spacious. Staff is chill and laid back also. There's a massive menu on the wall right before you order. The gluten free crust only comes in the 10" size. It's also thin crust. My friend ordered their lunch special. Two slices of pizza with ham and mushroom as well as a drink. The cashier noticed I was wearing a Beetlejuice shirt, and gave me a Beetlejuice sign for when the person would bring the order out. I thought that was really cute the way they do their signs, and how they just happened to have a Beetlejuice one. I would definitely love to come back here in the future so I can try other variations of the gluten free crust. It's a different flavor obviously, but still good nonetheless. I also asked if they did delivery or third party, and they said no. So I definitely need to come back for more. read more

I did take out and I called ahead on my way home. I was able to find a close spot and run and get my pizza paid for and head out quickly. They were semi busy on a weeknight after work. Located in Murray Hill, there are other venues within walking distance for after dinner activities. I think this place represents the eclectic beauty of the Murray Hill, Avondale, Riverside, Ortega and Lake Shore areas. The prices are very reasonable and there's usually plenty of parking on the street. It was my first time and I was unclear of the ordering process, he talked me through it. My friend was happy because they have vegan choices. This pizza is delicious. The crust is crusty outside and chewy inside, exactly the way I want my pizza. Some pizza sauce is too sweet, not this one, it was a great compliment to the crust and the cheesy goodness on top. The space itself is a good size, lots of tables and wide open spaces. Good variety of toppings on the menu but one that stood out for us was fried eggplant - as a topping! I don't like eggplant, but what a great topping! I love the creativity of it. This was a great decision. One of my pals suggested we hit this place up after a baseball game and it was a wonderful idea. Everyone from the cashier, to every single server was nice and attentive.
