Title: Raw Dough at SLICE - Save Yourself and Go to ASPENEDOS across the street Instead. I went to SLICE Pizza just wanting a decent slice and left after one bite wishing I had driven anywhere else. The dough was raw, greasy, and had zero structure. When I picked it up, it folded like a limp banana peel -- no crunch, no backbone, just oil-soaked dough. I asked them to put it back in the oven because it was clearly undercooked. They did... and it came back exactly the same. As a New Yorker, I know what real pizza is supposed to taste and feel like. I love to get a slice from time to time, however This was not New York pizza. This was not pizza. Please don't tell customers that it is -- it's honestly an insult. It felt like I could have rolled the dough back into a ball and re-spread it because it was that raw. The pizza needs to actually touch the base of the oven long enough to bake properly. The previous owners did a great job here. Whatever changed -- it's not working. The new owners really need to taste their own product. Do yourself a favor and go across the street to ASPENEDOS Italian Cuisine next to Publix instead. OMG -- the chicken piccata is incredible, and their pizza is full of flavor with a perfectly crunchy crust. I ate every bit of the crust -- even the back end, which I never do. That's real pizza. It was our first visit here, and we gathered with friends to celebrate. As a Chicagoan, pizza is my language. We tried the hot honey pepperoni with ricotta. While waiting for the pizza, we grabbed a couple of fountain drinks. The first thing we noticed was that the sweet tea tasted off. The next drinks we got were the fountain sodas. Oddly enough, the same off taste was in the sodas; it tastes like old plastic supply hoses or chlorine water. When the pizza arrived, the presentation looked good; unfortunately, the taste wasn't appealing. It took extra seasoning, garlic powder, and hot honey to make the flavors decent. Happy to find a by the slice place so close to home. The staff was super friendly. They had plenty of options to choose from. I loved the dill pickle ranch and the bacon chicken ranch. Prices were reasonable and I saw they have a lunch special so I'll definitely be back for that. Definitely recommend if you want a quick tasty slice. read more

I have been meaning to try this spot for a while now but never got the chance! Best pizza in oakleaf for sure! I really wanna comment on/applaud them for how clean their restaurant is. I got a pepperoni pizza combo for lunch and I look forward to going back and trying the other slices especially that pickle ranch one! I ordered through yelp. It was okay, easy to order. They quoted me 45 mins. I happened to get there after 30 mins and the food was ready so wish I had gotten a text saying it was ready earlier (for people that don't show up randomly early like me). The pizza was okay. Being from Jersey I'm pretty particular, I'd put this in line with chains - dominos papa John's etc. the Sicilian looked good tho, may try that next time. The salad was meh. For $11 it was just some lettuce, onions, and 2-3 cherry tomatoes? Not a mixed house salad. The yelp price of Mozzarella sticks was $11, and it had only 5 sticks that are clearly just Costco frozen sticks they heat up and that annoyed me. $2/stick is a massive markup. All in I won't order again but maybe stop by when I just want 1 quick slice as a pit stop for lunch or something. They do have TVs in their eating area, although it's small. This was my first time going to Slice! I walked in and it was a cute little pizza place. The kept everything clean. The person who helped me out was very nice and attending. There are a lot of different specialty pizzas. I think the ones for the lunch special are the ones that are on display so if you don't see something maybe ask. I'm not quite sure because I saw what I wanted. But it never hurts to ask! I was able to get 2 slices of pizza and a drink for $10 off of their lunch special menu(Combo #3) I got a slice of supreme and white. They were huge, so you'll definitely will be full or need a to go box. The white pizza was my favorite I love the dollops of ricotta on the pizza! The supreme is an OG(original) and it's good! I loved the crust on the pizza as well. It was buttery and crispy. I'm usually on this side of town every week so this might become a regular spot! read more

Slices of Oakleaf has gone down the tubes and fast. What used to be very good ny style pizza has quickly gone down the crapper. 1st they have a staff that doesn't have a clue on what there doing there. They constantly mess up your order, don't know any of the questions you ask them. Can't process your order over the phone anymore stating some kind of nonsense that the manager need to out in a code before they can except your payment by phone. And what used to be very good pizza has completely turned into something that fast less than desirable. I wouldn't recommend them anymore they've changed for the worst! read more

Wow, where do I begin? I guess I'll begin with the awesome smile and greeting I received as soon as I walked in. This was my first time visiting Slice and I'll whole heartedly say it won't be my last! They just don't have the everyday slices like other pizzeria around town. But Slice has slices that are head scratchers at first but once you try them you fall in love. I mean that's what happened to me in only my first time there. I had a half Pepperoni and half Chicken Parmesan pie, a chicken roll, a slice of the Chicken Bacon Ranch and some garlic knots. Oh btw I did not go alone for all of this food I had help lol...... everything I tasted was mouth watering Delicious! Let's start off with the Half Pepperoni Half Chicken Parmesan pie. It was a mixture of perfection put together by the Gods. I'm a pepperoni kind of guy so that's always a must but that Chicken Parmesan side was outstanding. It legit tasted just like a chicken Parmesan meal. Then came the chicken roll which was pure food orgasm in my mouth. The blended dough together with the right amount of sauce inside with chicken and cheese made for a bite full impact. It was so tasteful, I almost ate the whole thing. Not came a taste of the Chicken Bacon Ranch and Holy Canoli that slide was fantastic. Some people may say that ranch doesn't belong on a pizza but in this instance it definitely does. The flavor of the chicken pack with the bacon and the ranch sauce to top it off was amazing. Last but certainly not least came the big garlic knots. These garlic knots were cooked to perfection. They weren't to hard and they weren't to soft but they had a little crunch with every bite. With the right amount of garlic these knots were made with Love. We ordered last night and gif the garlic knots and a large pizza- half pickle ranch and half Hawaiian! Y'all!!!! Order that pickle ranch pizza NOW! Convinced a client to try it tonight and she loved it. It's so amazing and the Hawaiian was such great flavor too. We were super impressed and will from now on so all our pizza orders from here! New restaurant that replaced one of our favorite pizza place that closed. We tried Slice and decided to order a calzone. The crust was so flavorful, I hadn't had a calzone this good in years. I haven't tried their pizza yet, but those looked amazing too. If you don't want a whole pizza, you guessed it, you can order a slice. They also have spaghetti on the menu. The inside has been completely remodeled and is a lot nicer than the old place was. Parking is no problem since it is on the other side of the parking lot from Home Depot. So glad we have another choice besides all the chain stores. read more

This place has been remodeled. It use to have the pizza display in front of the kitchen pass area. Order a slice and they would hand it to the kitchen thru the pass. Now you order a slice and they have to walk it all the way back to kitchen. Not a good setup. $4.99 for a slice? Not in this place, probably one of the worst slices in Jax. They are taking advantage of being the only pizza place near the Oakleaf area. Sure there Domino's and Marcos for a whole pizza. The rent must be so high in the Oakleaf area nobody but fast food will open in the Oakleaf food desert. read more

I have no clue what's happened to Slice Oakleaf but whew. Was thinking they had a change of management or something but no. We love to support small business so instead of ordering dominoes and staying in we packed up ourselves and our 2 year old and braved the cold rain to support local. Boy has this place gone downhill since our last visit. Pizza was just ok, crust inedible. No more fountain drinks. Instead paid over $3 for a single can of soda. Couldn't even get water for the baby without buying one. Garlic knots no longer covered in garlic butter but I'm guessing 'I can't believe it's not butter' sprayable and no garlic. I know times are hard and being a small business in todays economy is even harder but when you cheat your customers and cut your quality so much that you can't spare a glass of water for a child or a garlic clove you're doing something wrong read more

I have been here a couple times because it's convenient when shopping and I get a little hungry and don't want standard fast food or have time to sit down etc. The staff needs improvement on customer service and food handling. We shouldn't see them on their phones, applying chapstick or touching their hair. I like white pizza and the first time was good second time the toppings were minimal and it had been sitting too long. I think it is under new management and I might give it another try. Second time trying Slice. First time was a couple years ago, dined in with the 2 slice lunch special and enjoyed it (the white specifically). Today we decided to get a whole pie togo, large Hawaiian. 75% of the bottom side was dark black leaving a burnt and chalky taste in your mouth. Also, it barely had any sauce. The slices we ate had 50% of the bites with no sauce, just cheese and toppings. Sad because we were really craving NY style pizza but this did not hit the spot. read more

Ordered through Door Dash tonight, medium pepperoni pizza after reading the reviews on here and can honestly say I'm not disappointed. I have worked approximately 6 months in the past two years in NY so my craving for a NY style pizza was pretty strong tonight. After reading the reviews I decided to give it a try. I absolutely hate the chain store pizza...to me it's thrown together and flavorless. I saw the reviews here and ordered. This is my idea of a NY style pizza...perfection. The quickest delivery on a Friday night! I'm a first-timer who just moved to Jacksonville. Ordering pizza while unpacking boxes after a move is a tradition in my family. It just so happens Slice is only minutes from new home. I ordered online. The process was easy enough but the system itself could be a little better. If you want to order a 18" Buffalo pizza you have to scroll scroll through all the 14" pizza options, 16" pizza options, etc. -it would be easier to click "Buffalo pizza" and then have a drop down menu with different sizes. But this is just a suggestion for quicker ordering times. The pizza itself was hot. It arrived about 30 minutes after I ordered. Once again, it was on a Friday night. The dough was very tasty (but could be crispier). I expected a little more chicken (but to add more would have costed over $2.00). The Buffalo pizza didn't have enough hot sauce in my opinion... I ended up drizzling Frank's red hot sauce on the pizza. Blue cheese crumbles on top would have given the review a 5 star. (The driver included a side of blue cheese dressing when I requested it online) We will order again for convenience (and because it's better than Pizza Hut) but we might order something different. read more

I chose to not use door dash as one of the staff had informed me of the much better deal and service I would receive if ordered directly from Slice. So I did. I ordered a 14" pizza that $28.98. After all of the additional charges that single pizza then cost over $43. I was not texted upon delivery. I called and was told my pizza had been picked up over 25 minutes previously. I opened my front door and found my food slung onto my porch without any notification. Therefore it was cold by the time I found it. I ordered this pizza delivered because the last few times I went INTO the restaurant everything was burned or forgotten to be heated and given to me straight out of the display case. Each slice is huge but they're able to cut it up for your kiddo(s) & spaghetti with meatballs. The spaghetti was okay.. a little too al dente for me but the meatballs were excellent! I had to ask for another order of them but for just ONE meatball it's $4.99! Whatever though. They were juicy and flavorful.
