I love the atmosphere in this restaurant. It felt very homey and comfortable. It's a lovely place for a group of four people or less to go to. I say that because they don't play music here and it doesn't get so loud that you can't hear your friends/date but if there were multiple groups, it might ruin that. I had the gnocchi here and this is the reason why it's getting four stars instead of 5. It was honestly the worst gnocchi I've had... The sauce and really the whole recipe was terrible. It was so plain. Despite that, I enjoyed myself but that may have been because of the company I was with LOL. They have a nice list of cocktails which also might've been why I enjoyed myself. But I would recommend the grilled octopus for appetizer though. If you are on a date, try to reserve the corner booth table so that you can sit next to your date ;) there's only one in the restaurant haha. read more

If you're looking for a place to celebrate a birthday in Greenwich, Morandi's is the solid place to go. We had a party of about 11 people and were seated in their outdoor dining. It was a bit busy and a Friday night, so understandably, the service was a bit slow. That being said, the atmosphere was lively and fun, fit for the occasion! I had the Pici al Limone for dinner, the serving size was generous. It was a solid pasta dish at an expected price for the location, and my party was equally satiated by the various other pasta choices on the menu. Went back here last weekend for the first time in years. I made a resy on OpenTable and there was a lot of availability but once we got to the restaurant it was completely packed. I don't regret coming here, but probably won't come back again. This is a truly a go-to spot. Food is tremendous, service is just the right mix of attentive but not pushy, and special, grateful note of the outstanding wine list. Not just the usual (expensive) bottle list, but also a very wide selection of interesting and reasonably prices varietals available by the carafe-- perfect when you want more than a glass, but less than a bottle, or a couple of different wines for the table to share. Appetizers and pastas were all exceptional, but special note of artichokes "alla giudia" and the various focaccia. We're coming back to try the 2nd plates. Had a lovely late spring lunch on a day when the West Village looked its classic best. Sat outside on the street, basked in the sun, reconnected with a close friend for the first time since pre-pandemic, raised glasses to toast to the summer, and enjoyed a very good lunch with solid service. Rosé started the day along with a unique and wonderful burrata, served with fresh peas, watercress, toasted almonds, and black truffle vinaigrette. It was beautifully plated, looking like a painting. Mains were a tasty gnocchi with braised lamb, fava beans, and cherry tomatoes and my light and surprisingly good springtime risotto. The menu doesn't call it that, but I did: risotto with asparagus, shiso leaf, and crabmeat and a fresh, springy light green color. It was unique and not heavy, a perfect dish for flavor that won't ruin you for beach season. Service was very attentive. Outdoor seating on the street worked well on a beautiful spring day. Morandi is a staple in the West Village. It's an adorable Italian wine bar that everyone needs to go to at least once, especially in the dead of winter when all you want is pasta and heavy Italian wine. I love the ambiance at Morandi, it reminds me of being at an old 'rustic' vineyard in Tuscany. I love the exposed brick, exposed wooden beams in the ceiling, the old wood tables and mismatched chairs, and adorable 1800s looking chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. It's very charming and romantic. Many of the people here looked like they were on dates, I can easily see why. I started off with a glass of Italian Pinot Noir at the packed bar which was very jammy and berry forward, yum. When my gfs arrived, we sat at our designated table and were immediately handed a bread basket along with olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and shredded Parmesan cheese. My gfs dove into that bad boy like they had never seen food in their entire lives. It was almost barbaric...but that's another story. Anyway, after that full on bread chow down, we ordered the grilled squid and burrata and a bunch of pasta dishes (it was January and freezing cold out). The grilled squid was really good overall, but I wasn't a huge fan of the celery accompaniment. The burrata was fantastic, I loved the arugula and toasted pumpkin seeds on the side. The roasted squash accompaniment was also very tasty, it had a 'candied' flavor to it. For dinner I ordered the pumpkin stuffed pasta in a sage brown butter sauce with pine nuts & parmesan which was very tasty. My one gf ordered the house-made whole wheat beet pasta with italian sausage, broccoli rabe, pecorino cheese & chili flakes which I thought was fantastic. Definitely a favorite. My other gf ordered the hand-rolled spaghetti with lemon and parmesan which was cooked al dente and had a nice lemon taste to it. I had never ordered pasta with lemon seasoning before. Very tasty. I will say the Calamari, Grilled Squid, and Focaccia Salame Piccante e Miele are all amazing and the best pasta dish/ the only one I would order if I visited again would be the Agnolotti di Capesante which I will honestly probably have a craving for. Been wanting to try Morandi, so finally got a reservation this past weekend. The original reservation was outdoors, but with 20 degree temps we asked to move inside. We were placed in the front room where patrons wait for tables/stand at the bar... wasn't ideal but given the ask to be inside we really couldn't complain. Service was amazing. Our waitress was nothing but kind and considerate. Food was good, but not life changing. Clearly quality ingredients, but everyone in my party came to the same conclusion- good food, just good. I will say the bread and olive oil was so delicious- freshly baked from Balthazar. My biggest downfall was the ambiance. Do not come here if you're looking for a quiet meal. It is LOUD. It feels like you've left New York and stepped into some local restaurant in Europe, so if you're with an out-of-town friend, I don't recommend bringing them here to show the city. I did enjoy the orange/brown lighting and glow, and the cozy, yet upscale vibe. Good place for family dinners. The service is attentive in the really annoying way. I did wish they backed off a bit, but not the end of the world. But when we needed them to bring the bill and to take payment, they were MIA. Weird. Its food leaves something to be desired, as the dishes are absurdly small for the price and they're really nothing special. My friend got some pasta with beef dish and I got the grilled calamari. They were average at best, boring at worst, and it's not cool that the prices don't match. Being welcomed, being accommodated are jus 2 things that make Morandi a great spot for amazing Italian food. A really fun place with great service. Everything on the menu is just perfect. Some great salads and starters like the fried artichokes and the Frito mixto with calamari, shrimp, and fish served with a marinara sauce. The mains and pastas are all amazing too. I'd gotten mixed reviews about Morandi, so I wanted to make a decision about it for myself. I made a reservation a week in advance which was necessary because it was PACKED. They have tons of outdoor seating as well as indoor, and I loved how lively it was on a Tuesday night! We were seated right away upon arrival and had good service the entire night. To start, we started with the truffled ricotta asparagus. Everything in the dish was good, but it was kind of hard to mix everything together. I ended up eating the truffled ricotta with the bread instead since it was easier. No complaints about it, but we also did get charged a few dollars more for the appetizer than the menu said. We didn't say anything given COVID-19 impact, but a little sneaky. For our mains, I went with the scallop ravioli and my friend went with the pici al limone. I was pleasantly surprised by the scallop ravioli! The texture was definitely different than what you'd expect, but the flavors were all there and the portion size was very filling! My friend enjoyed her dish as well in its simplicity. Overall, I wouldn't say this spot is the right place to go for authentic Italian, but it's definitely got great vibes and good food! read more

Morandi makes you feel like you're in Italy, not in New York. It feels like a cozy home in Tuscany separated from the busy streets outside. My cousins and I recently came here and we loved the Bolognese. It smelled amazing, herby and garlicky and delicious. It tasted even better and honestly I wanted another plate. The clam pasta was also good and lemony. The risotto wasn't my favorite. I don't normally love risotto anyway but this one lacked the depth and abundance of flavor that the other dishes had. With that said I go to the bartender and I kindly ask him to wipe off the counter for me prior to ordering because someone else has been seated there before me he looks at me like I have three hats and then bring the dirty rag and then when I tell him that that he needs to bring disinfectant he brings another dirty rag insane. And then to top it off the bartenders are cutting garnishes without gloves with bare hands I had to ask the bartender when he gave me my vodka cocktail to redo another one because he cut the lime with his fingers and a knife. Morandi is a charming and cozy Italian restaurant. With its exposed brick walls and wood beam ceiling, it feels rustic and signals a sense of authenticity. I dined here on a Tuesday evening and it was packed-a sign of a good spot. The meal started with complimentary bread and olive oil. We followed that with a few appetizers. The burrata was itself was tasty although the pomofrabate andbaubflower seeds it was served with didn't do much to compliment it. The insalata d'indivia was a nice juxtaposition of a crisp and bitter endive with a sweet vinaigrette but the best appetizer was the carciofi alla giudea which were fired artichokes with a lemon aioli dip. For entrees, we went with the cacio pepe which was creamy and mild. It met expectations but was not a show stopper. My friend went with the tagliatelle alla bolognese on a recommendation from the waiter and it was really nice-not too greasy, flavorful and balanced. They also had a nice wine list with a very knowledgeable server. He was helpful with wine selections and friendly throughout the meal.
