The problem is the meat. The meat is just average. If they upgraded the meat, this might be the best burrito in Arizona. That's how good the tortilla is. But because the meat doesn't match the tortilla, it ends up being just a really solid burrito instead of an amazing one. I haven't tried anything else on the menu, so I can't speak on the rest of the food. But if we're talking burritos... Best tortilla I've had. Average meat. Good overall, but it leaves you thinking about what it could've been.

Then we got the carnitas cheese crisp which was interesting and had good flavor. I would order both again. Service was pretty good. Like I said, the bartender was busy working by himself and when one of his coworkers noticed, we didn't have any more water then she would come by and help so that was appreciated. The coffee was solid and it never got below half cup and yay - good water (yes other AZ restaurants, we can tell when you don't RO your water) Food was all very good and portions are large as I could not finish my Denver Omelet. For a place that prides itself on making their own dressings, etc., you'd think they could've figured out how to cook chicken in an oil that they use for everything else. Perhaps if they'd communicated better about my intolerance instead of not thinking about it until immediately when my food was ready (which was quite a while after we ordered), they could've found someone in the restaurant who was capable of making non-vegetarian food with something other than soy spray, but I may be giving them too much credit. They also didn't offer us a high chair for our toddler, which was strange. He wound up doing fine in the booth, which was for the best because a high chair probably wouldn't have fit well where we were sitting anyway. The waitress was apologetic and nice about my food screw up and offered to make me something else, but there wasn't much that could be done given that apparently no one in the restaurant knows how to cook meat without soy spray, plus we'd already waited quite a while for our food. The beet salad was tasty, as was the bread with honey butter and the Chai latte, but I would've left feeling more full if I could've added meat to my salad.

It was refreshing to see signage that declared products that were GF. Protein smoothies, coffee drinks, salads, wraps, sandwiches, rice bowls, salads and cookies make up the menu. The staff was more than happy to answer questions regarding any menu items. No need to play "Guess Which Menu Item Won't Make Me Regret Lunch." I dined here twice in a week. My first visit I had a seasonal latte, my friend had one and a chocolate GF muffin top. All were very good! On my return visit I enjoyed the chicken salad sandwich with kale chips. I was thrilled that they could accommodate my request for no onion or garlic products and they offered gluten free bread. Toasted with paper thin green apple slices and plain mayo instead of their herbed mayo my $13.95 lunch was satisfying and tasty! My friend had the roasted chicken sandwich for $11.95 and only ate half because she was full on the meaty chicken breast within the slices of bread. We stayed a while and admired the cute decor which was supplied by the sister business, Olive Branch just two doors down. I did a quick search on Yelp and realized I was less than a mile away from this cafe. The space has a cozy and welcoming feel. There's tons of seating. The staff greeted me as soon as I entered. The young woman behind the counter was very helpful. The menu offers sandwiches, shakes, pastries, and more. The tuna melt sounded great to me so I ordered that with gluten free bread as well as a GF pastry. I think it was a muffin top. Both items were delish! I devoured the tuna salad in the cafe before leaving and it helped me with my workout later that afternoon. The pastry was delightful as well. It was light and not too sweet. I came back a couple of weeks later and brought my husband who was looking for a healthy drink after we played golf. We both got shakes. My husband got the green goddess and I was looking for something refreshing so I got the Caribbean crush which has coconut milk, pineapple, vanilla protein, mango, strawberries, and OJ. It was exactly what I needed!
