When we walked in, the older woman who was the hostess was a complete ass. She wasn't kind to us at all and even starred at my 9 month old son as if he were going to burn the restaurant down. We sat down at 7pm on a Sunday (of Memorial Day weekend). It was relatively crowded but not too bad. There was plenty of seating and she originally asked us to sit at the bar...with an infant ... The young waitress had two sets of silverware for 4 people. When we asked for more spoons and ice cream menus she looked at us like we had 10 heads. She finally retrieved them and left us to decide. Once our order was taken it took almost a half hour. To make ice cream....for four people....and as I said it wasn't THAT crowded. This place has gone entirely downhill. It used to be great as a child when it was Baileys. Since it's changed hands and names, it's terrible. That older woman hostess always has an attitude and they always take forever. Stopped in with my mom for lunch - ordered the naked lobster roll and it did not disappoint. Generous portions of lobster and super fresh. The Maine cut fries were amazing. We sat inside - the recent renovations really showed off the craftsman styled dining room - think upscale summer camp with exquisitely polished pine floors, tables, and seats. Sometimes when you ask in town where you should eat - you get a great place and sometimes you get an okay place. The Morrissey's Front Porch was just okay. Courtney, our server, was very friendly, attentive and welcoming. We should have gone right to dessert and our rating of this restaurant would have been higher. Unfortunately, the fried foods were less than appetizing as the oil used was obviously in need of changing. My husband did enjoy his lobster salad roll. I did not like my fried haddock. I was thinking of giving this place a shot.. but after reading their menu I changed my mind... the prices are a tad high.. but what really got my attention was all the added expenses. For example you can buy a jumbo fisherman's platter for 21.99 but if your companion eats some of it also then it will cost you an extra 5.00 for that same plate. First time here but we'll be back. Had the fried clams and haddock with sides. The portions were generous. Clams & haddock were really good. Our group had the Colcannon, Mac n cheese, chips. Had a such a bad experience at morrisseys this morning. We were waiting in line to be seated and we were well aware that they were short staffed. The gentlemen in front of merely asked a question one of the waitresses she was the heavy set one she gave him a wicked dirty look. He asked if they would be able to still get breakfast after 11 because of the extended wait. He did not come off rude or aggressive just wanted to know if he could still get breakfast and the waitress was extremely rude to him. There was a much easier and polite way to handle that situation. We didn't even stay and eat there because of how rude she was. read more

It's the little things that prevent me from claiming 4-stars. My broiled haddock was actually quite excellent. Side veggies very fresh but...while perfectly steamed just how I like it the veggies had none of the promised marinade or seasoning. Fries were clearly more than a few hours past fresh. I get that it's not practical to make a fresh batch every order but I appreciate it when they tell you that and say, "how about a baked P instead?" Service was average, nothing to note one way or the other. I guess the overall feel was that we were impressed with the main item of our entres but the sides seemed half hearted. Also stay away from the jello...it was truly awful...tasted like mouth wash...clearly no real mint being used. Been there for lunch and dinner multiple times when we have been in town over the last several years. Service is consistently good, though food delivery can slow during peak season and times - but not maddeningly so. Food is also consistently good quality - when I am back East, I pretty much only eat seafood, and there's is quite good. Prices are reasonable as well. We loved this place! We come up to NH once a year on vacation and always manage to make it to Wolfeboro and at times have visited this restaurant before. It was always good, but this time was superb. The lobster stew is TO DIE FOR.... my husband and I wished we had just ordered a bucket each of that! Very tasty..... Everything we got was top notch, their fries are also really good.... A little ways Southeast if Wolfeboro town center they have a large parking lot and a rustic interior with a windowed porch section, windows opened when cool and closed with AC when hot. My family and I ate here for breakfast every morning while on vacation. The coffee is great and the chocolate chip pancakes are the best we have ever eaten. Very kid friendly spot. Ask for Courtney she is a great waitress who had our drinks ready for us as we sat down each morning and she even remembered our breakfast order from the prior days we ate there. This used to be great. Went there Sunday evening waited 45 minutes for a roast Turkey dinner and breasted chicken dinner. Roast Turkey dinner sat on counter for 20 minutes and breasted chicken never came up. We know because we were sitting next to the kitchen. Our waitress never came by to explain why the long wait or offer an explanation..we finally got up and told them we were leaving. Turkey dinner still sitting there COLD.they offered to box the Turkey dinner for us to take. No Thank you. Went to Morrissey's for seafood. Ordered the lobster roll. I asked what the difference was between the lobster salad roll and the naked lobster roll. The girl told me that the naked lobster roll was fresh lobster from the tank served with mayo or butter and the lobster salad roll was frozen lobster (doesn't sound very appetizing?!) so I went with the naked lobster roll - this is exactly what it sounds like. Lobster, dry, on a hot dog bun with a packet of mayo. Once I was done making my own lobster roll (cutting up the tail meat and mixing the mayo into it) the lobster was pretty good - only reason I'm giving as high as 3 stars. read more

Wow. I think the most common phrase uttered tonight was a tie between "you've got to be kidding me" and "where did our waitress go?" Came in early, during a slow time (4pm-ish) and were ushered to the very back room, alone, and we knew it would be trouble, but gave it a shot. There were bottles on the table with rolled papers in them that said Mother's Day Specials so we didn't realize (and no one told us) that this days specials were on the back. There were no steak options for our picky steak and potatoes father, but apparently the Prime Rib was the nights special....great, thanks. The appetizer trio was lacking, the chowder wasn't very flavorful (out of a can?). Our salads were pitiful, my chicken on my chicken Caesar salad was poached...not grilled. The roast beef meals were simply meh...heavily salted French fries (though hand cut which was nice for a change). My kids pizza was awful and she wouldn't eat it. It had sat under the food lamp too long, had super thick crust and very little of anything else. What made this really bad was our service. Our waitress took quite a while to see us, and then was virtually absent the rest of the time. I blame the seating...out of sight out of mind, but still. We sat for quite a while between our courses, waited for drink refills, etc. Also, the building itself needs some major renovations. The bathrooms are awful! There is mold in the ladies room on the wall where there was clearly some unattended water damage. The stalls are tiny and one door bumps right into the sink counter and you have to squeeze into it. The toilet paper is a step up from cheap paper towels. At the end my wife asked if they had coffee. The waitress said "I think so" and walked away, without asking if we wanted any, regular or decaf, nothing. Later she brought in a cup of coffee for my wife and walked right off again. The coffee was blah, not bad but not good, but passable. The food was nothing special but not "bad" per se. When the ice cream came almost everything was melted and WRONG! There were nuts on my sundae when I said no nuts and there was no banana on the banana split and no sprinkles on an ice cream who asked for sprinkles...jeez!!!! When we got the right ice creams they were quite lovely. The only highlight was that the waitress deducted A couple ice creams because of the mix up. read more

Having a camper in tow can sometimes be a challenge when looking for place to eat. We stopped here yesterday coming from a recent camping trip. Decided to eat on picnic tables outside. Ordered at walk up window. 2 Haddock sandwiches, 1 cheeseburger, cup of chowder,cup of lobster stew,mozzarella sticks, chicken fingers, potato wedges. Well i'll start by saying burger wasn't delivered and then told wasn't on bill. Food came out. We'll start with chowder, very thick and more bacon then clams, Lobster stew looked like butter on top of chowder, very bland, minimal lobster and wasn't even filled. Haddock sandwiches were worst ever seen, fish was mushy and almost like the oil wasn't hot enough when dropped in. The bread on both sandwiches had mold on them. My wife caught right away, I didn't however till last bite. Took back to them where they we apologetic, its so easy for cook to see moldy hamburg buns. I love freshly made chicken fingers so got last one from daughter. They looked awesome until i bit into one and saw pink juices. The other daughters burger came out cold in middle as well. I have never in my life been treated the way I was by the wait staff at any restaraunt. Morriseys staff was rude, un trained, didn't know how to use the computer and took my order more than 3 times only to come back with a comment to me "um, you know that dish is $26.00 right?" As if I was a 5 year old who had no money. Once my order came out my meal was not as described "more than a pound of seafood" it looked as if I got table scraps from another table completing my plate with 5 scallops and a handful of clam strips... I also ordered a clam chowder and never saw it, and when it was time to leave they never asked if I wanted dessert or anything and to top it all off, when I asked her to take the chowder off the bill I never received, the waitress snarled at me and said she will go get me one... As if I wanted one for home. Then asking for a receipt at the end of dinner after I paid turned into her pulling it from the trash. I wouldn't be surprised if I see myself on a candid camera show after the disrespect and embarrassment of a dinner I paid for. read more

They apparently were having computer problems this morning; waitress had to manually calculate check. Credit card machines apparently down also but we were not informed until I went to pay. We took a friend to lunch at the Front Porch today. I was a little hesitant because we had gone here a few years ago and it wasn't great but since our friend had his heart set on it we went. I had the clam roll with fries and an iced tea. The clams were tender and cooked perfectly and the fries were great too. My husband had a quarter pound burger with fries and he said he would give it an 8 on a 1 - 10 scale. Our friend had a salad with blue cheese and nuts of some variety. He said it was very good. Service was good. This would be a 5 star review if the portions were a little larger. No complaints though, I'd definitely go back again next time we visit NH. read more

I grew up down the street 28 years ago when it was called Bailys. I remember great ice cream and food and that has not changed. Clam chowder was better than Newicks. My father is a great judge of lobster rolls and he said it was one of the best he had ever had. I'm a big guy and would probably order 2 next time! Super disappointed. Stopped in as an alternative to Bailey's Bubble and the girl behind the counter was very cold. Said that she was trying to close but they aren't allowed to turn people away. We love the old time feel of this charming place. We're so happy it stays true to its roots. It's not a fancy place, it's cozy and casual. Lots of knotty pine throughout and a screened porch with jalousie windows. The food is great, good old American fare. I especially love the French onion soup and the turkey dinner. My husband loves their clam chowder. I've had the steak tips and enjoyed them. Service is friendly. There's an ice cream counter with indoor and outdoor service. The food was okay but the service was absolutely horrible. They kept telling us, "sorry it got really busy all of a sudden" as we looked around and saw that the place was at average capacity. After 10 minutes they took our order, and another 10 minutes passed for them to get us our drinks... and they forgot 3 waters. After another 20 minutes we finally got our food. We were seated in the back dining room and basically ignored by waitstaff, possibly because I had a 2 year old and an infant with me. It was around 6 so it was busy, but not so busy that we had to wait almost an hour just to get drinks. By the end of that hour the toddler was starving so we basically had to go back and tell the kitchen to box our food to take home.
