New bartenders are terrible (Sam is the exception, very friendly and professional, but may have been run off by the place, haven't seen him in a while) They arrogantly ignore regulars, you have to literally wave them down to get service, then they have a huge attitude while at the same time are giving away free shots to their buddies. Have lived in Natick for almost three years-lots of great places to pick from, to eat. Morse Tavern is within walking distance, and is a great, central location to watch a game or meet up with others from surrounding towns. I've gone there numerous times since I've lived here, but have learned to only eat their burgers because everything else is a crap-shoot and it doesn't appear management cares if they serve an inedible meal. Last night's dinner experience,however, is what's lead me to write this review. The place was packed. The server was working hard. The drink I ordered wasn't what I got, but mistakes happen. Then, the steak tips I ordered came with sautéed peppers and onions after I'd reiterated to the server, twice, "no peppers." Ok, so I scraped them off to the side and bit into a steak tip. The worse cut of meat I've ever eaten and could barely chew it. Put the meal aside and, a half-hour later (again, they were busy) the server came to check on the meal and I asked him to send it back, which he did. I didn't ask for anything else, and wasn't offered anything else either but was charged when the bill came. After some confusion, the manager came over and condescendingly commented about me not liking my meal. At that time, I explained to her that it wasn't that I didn't like it-it was a horrible cut of meat and was barely edible. She walked away. No apology, no compensation for a ridiculous experience and the fact that a customer who came to eat dinner at the restaurant you manage left without eating! So my wife and I left our son's football game at Framingham State and we headed toward the highway keeping our eyes open for a decent looking eating establishment that wasn't a national chain. We stood in the vestibule waiting to be seated and a house fly landed on my leg. Should have known right there! Yuck... Well the service from our two day newbie waiter was fine and the food was reasonably good. Granted the food tasted good but mostly all the items tasted the same as they were all overwhelmed with the same seasoning. Throughout our meal we had to shoo away house flies which kept trying to land on our drinks and food. That was gross. I had to use the restroom, it was only 4 pm and it really needed a cleaning. We found this spot on the way home from an outdoor day trip and because we aren't from the area we picked it at random. So happy we did! Our table of five thoroughly enjoyed our meals! We had a fried pickles appetizer which was enjoyed by the people who ordered it, a personal size Margherita pizza served piping hot and my husband said was delicious, the Buffalo Mac and cheese was *huge* and got rave reviews, the Teriyaki pineapple salmon was a generous portion and my son loved it, my younger son had a chicken tenders kids meal and ate every bite. My favorite though was my meal, the bourbon steak tips which were *phenomenal* - perfectly cooked, a generous portion with enough to bring home for lunch tomorrow. The establishment was clean and spacious and the restrooms were spotless as well. Our server Sean was very friendly and attentive and while we didn't visit the bar area it was very nice and spacious, with a typical crowd and volume for a tavern on game night. I am flabbergasted. My friends and I called to come in the other night for a party of 15 people. They put us in the empty back room which was odd... even though we didn't specify wanting that space. To our horror, the (manager/owner?) man came back and started yelling about how we had not reserved that space, and how there was a minimum order amount, etc. We kindly explained that we were just put here... had not requested it. He then proceeded to raise his voice even more and tell us to never bring our business back to Morse! Meanwhile, our whole group was in shock because we were just trying to enjoy some drinks and food.... and being frankly quite polite to this total PRICK! The worst part is, we explained we were a group of local Natick business owners, and he couldn't have cared less. He wanted us all gone and didn't care about supporting the community etc. NONE of us will EVER step foot in there again. He needs a reality check next time he's going to treat 15 local business owners like crap. Big mistake buddy. read more

The food quality is unacceptable and there is no reason it should be this bad. I got a "Buffalo" pizza and it wasn't even cooked through, the crust was terrible and half cooked huge chicken pieces were thrown on top. Buffalo sauce was poured all over it making the pizza a wet, soggy mess. It's very poor quality. The philly steak egg rolls were not very good and the onion rings were awful. They also had deals like 35 cent wings and $3.99 pizzas. Hard to resist! Definitely full of a more middle age crowd here for the game so perfect for parents on a night to enjoy the bar and a game. They had 5 flat screen TVs (1 which is really big but seems to be dimming around the edges...) The owner was very friendly. They only had 6 beers on tap and no microbrews, which was really disappointing. I heard they are going to add more beer selection soon. more BEERS please! Prices: Ridiculously affordable. $5 for a big basket of sweet potato fries. $5 for a Guinness on tap, and $5.50 for a mixed drink of vodka/Sprite. Wow! Believe me, they do not water down these mixed drinks either. Consensus, I'm coming back. Minus one star for lame, old flat screen TV and lack of beer variety. read more

It was a Friday evening in July and I needed my fish and chips fix with a frosty cold beer so we headed over to Morse Tavern. This was our first visit since we moved into the area, and this place came recommended. We were pleasantly greeted by the staff, with one of them commenting what a pretty dress my wife was wearing that night. They seated us immediately and were so nice to us. They have a great draft beer selection with many local craft beers on tap. Any good pub style tavern worth it's salt has to these days, and Morse Tavern checked this box. I will start by owning up to the fact that my wife and I are kinda fish and chips snobs ; ) It's not like it needs to be prepared in a certain way exactly the same every time, but it must meet these important quality control criteria; 1. Fish is fresh! Batter is tasty, not too heavy or greasy 2. Chips are actual real potatoes, fried to light golden color 3. F&C must be served Hot The fish came in two large portions, lightly battered and fried to perfection. The chips were french fries cooked the way I like them. Everything arrived at the table piping hot! Cole slaw was not, it was cold as it should be and it was fresh and tasty. Our server was friendly and attentive without overdoing it. She watched our drink levels and checked if we wanted another, so that we did not go dry! This was much appreciated on a hot summer night, she was great! Morse came through with flying colors. My first Friday night fish fry here in Natick was a success. Cap it off with another frosty cold beer, and I'd say we will be back again real soon. read more

First of all, no issues with their food. We were looking for a place with outside dining and found their site. There were several open outside tables with waitresses, so we sat at a table. A waitress came up to us and nastily said, "Do you have a reservation?" The site had no mention of revervattoons needed. Except on Easter. My wife went inside and there was no waiting, we just had to sign in. Okay. When the same waitress came over, she had a man joe condescending attitude. It was very obvious she thought we did not belong there. I am 62 and was nicely dressed, my wife was dressed casually. I do not know what her problem was, but we will never go there again. I have never been to this place before until tonight and I will tell you I will I'm never be going back. It started off with we made reservations and they never had our reservations but that wasn't a problem because nobody was in the restaurant so we got seated. While I was waiting for my friend, I went to the bar and ordered a glass of wine. The bartender brings out this wine glass that cannot be more than 4 ounces. The wine was $12 for glass. When my friend came I paid for the glass of wine and I asked the bartender to please give me three dollars back from a five dollar bill, he slapped the money on the bar and said don't spend it all in one place! We were then seated at this table where there were so many people surrounding us that if we tried to have a conversation we wouldn't so I asked to be seated at a high top.. now I mind you there's nobody in the bar tables were available. They stick us at this two seater, which every time somebody went by us hit us. We waited quite a while for a waitress, when I asked the bartender, instead of him, taking our order, he goes and tries to find a waitress who is obviously very overworked. Nobody was seating at the bar. The waitress came. She was a lovely girl she took our order never came back to see if our food was good. The fries were ice cold. She never took our plates when we were trying to pay the bill we had no room to sign our name on the checks. This was probably one of the worst experiences I've ever had, and I will never go back there. Suggestion I have the restaurant invest in wine glasses! when you're gonna charge somebody $12 for a glass of wine and then give them a 4 ounce glass. read more

My Fiancé and I stopped here for a quick bite for dinner today. We were greeted and sat down quite quickly. Hostess turned out to be our waitress, however, she seemed friendly and was working hard so no complaints on that end. Both of us decided water was all we needed to drink, and the taste was solid. No problems there. We put an order in for a large margarita pizza as well as the tavern's fried chicken sandwich. I'll start with the pizza. This was a good pizza. Good size, good taste, some leftover that we decided was worth bringing home. If we ever wind up here again I can see this being something ordered again. Now the chicken sandwich, also a good sized meal. We got a nice large piece of chicken which we were happy to see. Only complaint about this sandwich was that the bottom bun was soggy when we got the sandwich, however, the taste made up for this minor inconvenience. The fries that came with this sandwich were A+, we finished every single one of them. The sandwich also came with pickles on the side, which were also a huge W. Our hostess/waitress made good rounds checking in on us and got us our check in a quick, timely manner. I did get up at one point to use the restroom. I was pleasantly surprised with the restroom as a whole, very clean, quiet, and conveniently positioned in the restaurant. We had a huge group meet up for dinner. We had a side room with a long table set up for us which was great. We got to talk and visit without the rest of the activities out in the dining room and bar area (which were also very busy). We had only one waitress and it was a little slow at the start and we were all a bit leery since we had to ask for a few things like butter for the bread, straws for the sodas but we went with it and tried to be a good bunch. In the end she was great. She relaxed a bit and was really on her toes and got all our drinks and food out. They have always done well with lamb and this might was not any different. Great tasting tips with mashed and mixed veggies. The o rings and the fish and chips were a little too greasy so I'd recommend something else. I'm not sure what has happened to this place. It used to be good casual dining and drinks. Not anymore. Mid day - weekday Less than 10 customers. Took forever to acknowledge me then took my drink order and promptly forgot it. 15 mins later remembered the drink but menus etc. -Had to ask for those. I ordered my meal. And it came promptly. The guy next to me then conveys that he ordered food nearly an hour ago and has still not been served. The bar tender and now a waiter that had nothing to do with any of it start berating the kitchen and saying they are doing their best. I spoke up - big mistake. The waitress starts bad mouthing me telling me I'm giving her dirty looks. I don't know what my face was displaying while she was rattling on with her crap but long story short she told me to leave and the the bartender demanded payment for the 1/2 drink and 1/2 meal I ate. The most recent and final time I was there I ordered a second beer during lunch. I was halfway through my lunch but no beer or server was to be found. There were 3 tables occupied. I got up from the table to find someone and asked were my beer was. I was told that it was coming. I said I was halfway through my lunch and was scolded that I didn't need to be rude. Tried to go there last night for my birthday. It was our first dinner out with our 10 month old so we made an early reservation (6pm). Upon arriving the hostess said she could seat us for drinks but we wouldn't be able to eat for a long time which didn't work since our daughter was hungry, bedtime was looming and we weren't looking to booze up with a 10 month in tow.... Buffalo chicken pizza was terrible, I can eat bad pizza but that was the worst! The steak Alfredo was a great thought with so much potential to the idea until it got to the table, odor was repulsive and the taste of the Alfredo sauce (if you can even call that Alfredo sauce) absolutely gut wrenching. The beer was flat. After serving our table the best dish was the dry fish (who doesn't serve onion rings with fish)? This place has really declined. The bar is basically a square and with 2-3 bar tenders it shouldn't require 10-15 minutes to get a beer. The tenders are always serving their regulars or talking to them like they own the place. The owners really need a Manager or to be on site (cameras) to see why their business is declining. I owned a restaurant and have managed many. Even after asking the bar staff "What is going on here these days" all I ended up getting was more dismissal. I too over 20% and No I'm done waving my arms or trying to get a waiter to cash out my tab. The staff won't even share the tips. They insist on taking sides Bat/Wait Staff and the customer waits for what? The owners need to act like owners! read more

Went to Morse Tavern for the 1st time and will be my last. Went for drinks and an appetizer. Ordered nachos with the chicken added on. Nachos were really dry, hardly any chili a small side sour cream and sauce. I had to ask for more chili and they had the nerve to charge me an extra 2.95 !!!! When all said and done nachos cost me 20 bucks and it wasn't very good. My drink was 11.95 and I couldn't taste any alcohol. I 'll stay away from this place. read more

You should focus on pub foods like burgers, pizza,etc. maybe find a recipe for the tasty, greasy pub pizza that is often found in Mass south shore. Actually your burgers are not bad. What set me off on my most recent visit was the onion rings. They sucked. I can get a bag of frozen rings that are much, much better. Solid place for decent pub food. I live a short drive from this place and I come here every so often for the $4.99 Burger special on Mondays. It's a huge burger with a hefty potion of fries, onion rings, and cole slaw. Service is ok they are quite busy during this special so the waitresses are usually running around. I've tried their pizza, a few appetizers, and various sandwiches all solid food nothing blowing me out of the water but satisfying for the moment. My friend got their mac n cheese once and said it was velveeta base with added cheese so he wouldn't recommend it. This place deserves zero stars. I'll tell you why. This was my FIRST and LAST time here. I ordered the southwestern burger to be done medium. HALF AN HOUR LATER everyone's food comes to our table, i go to bite into the burger and it's well done and not at all what i ordered. It had the onions, which were burnt to a crisp, and peppers (which i don't recall seeing in description on the menu) but no chiptole mayo or avocado. I sent it back and ate nothing for dinner while everyone else ate. Mostly because I wasn't going to wait ANOTHER half an hour for food. What a disgrace. The cooks should be ashamed of themselves for not knowing how to cook their own food. Also, the manager on duty should be coming to the tables to apologize to customers NOT the wait staff. As a cook myself I feel very, very disrespected in that sense. Even if the sorry excuse for a burger was taken off the bill. I live about 1/4 mile from Morse so I desperately want it to be good! As so many others here have written, nobody is looking for haute cuisine, bubbly, perfect service, or mixology masterpieces here. It's a neighborhood pub with HUGE potential that simply falls short in all three categories. The menu options, if executed moderately well, would be a huge hit given the location. Actually, they could pare the menu by 25% and, if they learned to season and prepare food well, would do great! Slow service is not the end of the world, especially if a place is rocking. The problem here is that the waitstaff is disinterested, spending their time socializing, milling around the bar or just not in the dining room. One male bartender (Jim?) is downright surly. I recently watched him spend 10+ minutes counting out the tip jar while several patrons were two deep waiting for service. When he was done he went to the service bar to complain to other staff about his earnings! So, I resolved that the place would be my spot for a few beers while watching a game. Tried that for hockey playoffs this week and the tap lines were so gross every beer tasted like stale... Well, it was gross. I've been in here a few times... The first two times it was to get dinner with friends. On these occasions, the food and service have been pretty mediocre. All the trusty, New England coronary-inducing standbys are on the menu. Nothing was intriguing or unique. The last (and FINAL) time I was here, I was nine months pregnant, on my way home from a scary doctor's appointment. My husband and I were seated to have lunch. We were the only people in the non-bar, dining area, and.... NO ONE EVER CAME TO SERVE US. Having lived all over the country, I've been into some pretty questionable joints... and this has n.e.v.e.r. happened to me. We obviously got up and left; but the kicker was, when we were leaving, the hostess said "thanks guys, I hope you enjoyed your lunch."
