Really garbage restaurant because of over burn chickens. Other day, I asked the guy to re-cook, but he refused to and it was really rude. I was offended. I had to peel off the chickens and it took me about 20 minutes to finish. Now, today I gave another chance, and I ordered same from last time. I waited for about 3 to 5 minutes until the food is ready. I wasn't surprised because it was still same with over burn chickens. I threw away automatically and left. If you don't want to waste your money, then do not go to this restaurant! The service is terrible and they're not being careful with their cooks. This place.... I've been in this area all my life. And have passed this place a 1000 times since I have been able to drive. And have never eaten here. I've heard from friends who have eaten at other Mo's that the bowls are good. But none of the locations are that close and I never felt like going out of my way. Last Friday, after a night of great music at Sutra, all-nite afterparty w/D. Ramirez himself, maybe 2 hours sleep, and a morning of mindless staring at the floor in a car dealership waiting room, I found myself in the mood to finally try this place. When I go to a new place, I kinda want the most bang for my buck. So, I got the beef/chicken combo plate. About $7 for a large plate full of rice, topped w/a heap of meat, w/a salad, egg roll, and gyoza on the side. Nothing really special about the salad, egg roll or gyoza. I ate those first before digging in to the real food. I must confess, I have been hating beef at every place I have gone recently, and this time was no different. A bit chewy and tough. It was in the middle of lunch time and had a steady stream of people coming in, so somebody likes it. But the charry-ness of the meat wasn't to my liking. The chicken on the other hand was pretty good. The meat was soft and much better than the beef. But I seriously prefer Yoshinoya overall to Mo's 2. Even CTG is better IMO. The amount of food was too much for me. The plate definitely could feed 2 people of an average appetite. Maybe an extra side, and you definitely can share the plate and feel fed. Maybe I will try this place again in the next 20 years if I am still in the area, but I won't be getting the beef. Of course, my opinion could be tainted by the fact I was wasted/exhausted all day from my Thursday night/Friday morning activities. read more

Since having moved back to OC from the IE, I've been craving a good teriyaki place and remembered good ole Mos 2. Used to go to the one by the Santa Ana DMV as a kid and thought I'd check out the 17th St location. Went there yesterday on a pregnant girl craving. Ordered the chicken/beef combo plate - $7 - huge portions - includes salad, an egg roll, and fried gyoza. The beef we had was slightly overcooked and dry but the chicken was yummy and cooked just right. Add extra teriyaki sauce and hot sauce (is it Cholula or Tapatio? I'm not sure) and you're golden. Went for the first time and it definitely did not disappoint. I don't understand why people are saying that the chicken is burnt. Honestly it's cooked perfectly, and it taste so much better than flame broiler. And that's saying a lot because I was an avid flame broiler fan, but after coming here I'm coming back for more. Their rice is also cooked perfectly, not dry at all. I'm also not a big fan of egg rolls but their egg rolls were so good I had to have two. Their gyoza are delicious as well. My family and I have been coming here since I was a little girl! The food has always been delicious here. Sometimes I have to remind the guys here to serve me only the fresh chicken, preferably the stuff coming off the grill. Other than that, I can have Mos 2 at least once a week. I have been eating here for over 15 years and have enjoyed their food. The quality of the rice however has gone down. It used to be fluffy and not sticky. Now if it is not undercooked then its mush. The chicken most of the time is on point. When it gets busy they might burn it a little. The price i feel is getting high. The difference between a small, medium or large is barely noticable. Mos is always on my taste buds. it seems that every time i go the price goes up .25 . I do miss the old chicken egg roll that they used to come with but now they come with a spring roll that I'm not a big fan of. I believe that my first experience here was horrible because my teriyaki beef and chicken had a bunch of disgusting tar on them. The meat was so DRY.
