We walked into this pretty unassuming spot for a Sunday lunch/brunch after smelling it out on the street. Wow, were we so glad we did. My partner said it was the best burger he's had in San Francisco and we both agreed this was our new favorite spot for large portions, cheap (by SF standards) prices, and no frills great food. Burgers start at $12 and could easily last over 2 meals. They are juicy and huge -- it can get a little messy, but to me, that's just a sign of a good burger. The "side" of fries is a small mound and could easily be split by two people. The service was also excellent and our glasses never got below half full. As a local to San Francisco. This was one spot I looked forward to checking out. I invited a friend out for food and drinks and was really impressed by the appearance of the location and the staff. The waiter was attentive and was quick to manage multiple tables. This was especially impressive as there was only one waiter attending the whole restaurant. The interior was comfortable and inviting. I love the North Beach area and have enjoyed exploring Grant streets many restaurants and shops. I visited Mo's Grill on a Saturday night while playing in San Francisco with a friend. It was late, we'd been bar hopping (margarita crawl), we needed sustenance. I scanned the menu for a vegetarian option and noted that it was surprisingly similar to the Belly Buster, just missing cheese. So I added cheddar to my burger. OH MYYYY. Delicious, melty, messy and wonderful. The portions at Mo's (which is a kind of throwback, 50's style diner) are huge. This is a review of a Saturday lunch at Mo's Gourmet Hamburgers. After I had posted a photo of a burger from Salt House, a friend of mine suggested I check out Mo's. When I arrived, the place was very busy. However, I was still quickly seated at the counter. My beverage order was quickly taken and my food order was taken soon after. While I was awaiting my order, I could not help but notice that most folks had ordered different kinds of breakfast plates. They all looked amazing. I ordered the Western Burger (Cheddar Cheese, Bacon & Smokey BBQ Sauce). I would not say the food came out extraordinarily fast but it was very busy and I didn't have to wait that long. I would guess it was just over ten minutes. When the food came out, I could tell it was going to be a great burger. It was big. It was slathered in BBQ and had a lot of bacon. The bun was a very nice bun also. It was cooked to a perfect medium. It was very good. The fries were fantastic. They were thin fresh-cut fries. They were very crispy. I went today ( Wednesday) and got the brisket sandwhich special and a side of garlic fries. Now as a large man, I have traveled the USA eating my fair share of brisket. Pros and cons of this place...I would call this place a diner. Extremely small, staff is friendly a really cool intimate spot. THE FOOD IS AMAZING! The portions that they give u are over the top great . We ate breakfast there and did eat anything else for the day it's fabulous. Here's the con, prices.... OMG EXPENSIVE! $8 for 1 additional sausage to my meal? I know it's San Francisco but what the hell? Overall minus the prices, and if you read my previous post I don't mind spending money especially if the place makes me forget how much money I spent. This is not the place, it's a diner with great food however the prices doesn't match the place so even the food was good, the prices would have me stay away..I know the difference between a diner price and 5 star restaurant prices. read more

I wish I included something in my picture that would show the sheer size of that breakfast burrito. It was HUGE! About the length of my forearm, jam packed full of stuff And covered in chili. I should have read the description a little more closely because I wasn't expecting the chili at all, but now I see the menu does say it's topped with chili. The innards were ridiculous as well, full of sausage, roast pork, ham, potatoes, and eggs. It was really good and enough food for three people. Very reasonably priced at around $10. The restaurant is pretty small, but our group of 7 was seated quickly. It was pretty busy even for a Monday morning! Service was very nice as well. I want to come back to try the burgers! read more

This being my first visit to Mo's demanded my ordering their 'Best Burger', extra crispy fries, please. I was not at all disappointed by Mo's burger and fries combination. The meat was nicely prepared and very moist. Bun was as advertised: toasted on the outside, soft in the middle. Tomato and lettuce accompaniments were fresh and crisp. Dearest Mo, When I think of our time together the first thing that pops into my mind is "mmmm burgerrrr." And I get all googly eyed and smile thinking back to those awesome burgers you fixed us a while back. Mine - the Western Burger with all the cheddar cheese, bacon strips and a delightfully smokey bbq sauce. Yum and yum. The burger was nicely portioned, cooked perfectly, and when all that bbq sauce dripped over the sides of the bun onto the fries I wasn't mad. Those fries, light and crispy, were perfect with the smoky sauce. And there were so many on the plate! The whole meal was huge. We basically rolled outta there and down the hill towards the financial district to continue our San Fran adventure. We were hungover and needed a solid breakfast of carbs: eggs, toast, coffee, potatoes....and Mo's certainly filled the bill. Even though we'd normally sit inside, for health safety we sat outside in their parklet. The menu had a ton of options to choose from...service was friendly and quick, food was fresh, tasty and hot (house potatoes super good), portions large. It was the perfect meal for our mental/physical state of being. The only negative was the garbage street smell in early morning hours...but we were a wee bit sensitive to light and sound too. What a great diner style breakfast/lunch spot! We arrived here and had a bit of a wait then seated to start this brunch experience. A lot on the menu looked great and we settled for the French roast which was really good (topped with organic fruit) and the California omelette along with French fries. Some things never change, thankfully! I grew up down the street from Mo's and I remember as a kid, the burgers were too big for my adolescent hands. The burgers seemed ENORMOUS and always sat next to an equally impressive mountain of fries. I recently went back to test my memory and just as I remembered, the burgers were gigantic as was the pile of fries! I ordered a cheese burger with fries medium rare -- it came out perfectly pink, juicy, and just a little bloody. DELICIOUS. As with all of the burgers, be prepared to have juice run down your hands as you devour every delectible bite. My boyfriend ordered the western burger (rare) with a strawberry milkshake that made me deeply resent his lactose tolerant body. The milkshakes are thick and creamy, and unsurpisingly, HUGE! We split the shake between the three of us with each having been satisfied without feeling too glutinous. I highly recommend the strawberry one. BF was impressed by the size of the burger, and only regretted that he didn't ask for the BBQ sauce on the side. Our friend ordered the Alpine burger, the one with truffle oil and sauteed mushrooms. It looked, and smelled, glorious. Since he ate the entire burger, I'm convinced I will have to order it the next time I go. Eat here. You won't regret it. While vacationing out in SF and staying on the fringe of Chinatown and North Beach, I was looking for a really good breakfast or lunch spot. Don't want to wait in a huge line like Mamma's so I found Mo's on Yelp. Walking in a a true diner. Kitchen is in the front, right in the front window. They have a coal rotating grill. There was only eight table plus a counter. Not too many tables but very loud and tight around the table. Cool pictures and thing on the walls. Very interesting ambiance. I heard that their hamburgers are a BOMB. Really wanted to try one but it was only 10:30 in the morning and I also heard their breakfast was so good. Anyways, broke down and ordered the Italian Omelette which had egg plant, dried tomatoes, peppers, and cheese. Unique omelette. Bursting with flavor. So darn good. Loved it. It also came with homemade potatoes and your choice of toast. I picked the English Muffin. Potatoes were so good. Loved it. My wife ordered the two egg breakfast with homemade potatoes and sour dough toast. Pretty good. Not bad. So since I didn't get the burger I wanted, I heard they had a great piece of homemade apple pie. Got it hot with ice cream and drizzled with chocolate. The best piece of apple pie I've ever had. Man the crust was so flakey. Melt in your mouth pie. The ice cream was so creamy and good. Loved it. I know it's really weird to order breakfast and pie but there's too many good reviews on the pie. Really good. Amazing good. Service was pretty good, but the only weird thing is you go up to the cash register to pay your bill. Very cool place. Loved it. I will be back for the burger. If you are hankering for a fantastic burger, this is a great place. Was just wandering around Telegraph Hill during the day, was hungry and saw a neon burger sign in the window. Hmm...this looks interesting. Didn't even bother pulling up Yelp to look at reviews, but noticed the place was pretty crowded. Grabbed a seat at the bar, ordered a Coors. Menu is straight up burgers with some interesting types, but I always get my go-to if it's available: chili cheeseburger. The burger was cooked a perfect medium rare and was very flavorful. Chili was definitely homemade with beans, and had a perfect taste although not much heat. Or they wanted a reward for reminding the loving man's birthday that supported them. Unfortunately, Matt's birthday is a working day, so we ate Mo's Grills, which is not far from Chinatown and our crib. We arrived close to midday. The small dining areas were crowded and all occupied, but there were 4 seats available on the counter. In which we had no choice but to take those seats. Matt ordered the Alpine Burger, an order of fries and a fountain cup of Diet Pepsi. The kids split a order French Toast and a side of fruits. Niece ordered the Denver Omelette and soda. The good thing about eating at the counter is that we can watch the cooks prepare our meals and entertained us with their fast-paced agility around the grill and other stations around the kitchen. We finally got our food. The $7.25 burger, which is cooked and customized to your likings, had melted Gruyere Cheese, grilled mushrooms and the usual condiments. The $2.25 fries doesn't come with the meal and is purchased separately, but was a pretty good size in terms of amount that was given. Niece's huge $9.00 Denver Omelette had Ham, Bell-Peppers Scallion and melted cheese, 2 slice of toast and fried Potatoes on a huge plate. The omelette is measured easily to a foot long. Somehow, she managed to finish the big meal. The kid's $6.75 thick French toast was cooked nicely and tasted very well with the maple syrup. The fresh fruit costs an additional $2.50 with the meal. The kids were physically fighting for the elegant fruit-bowl, which made us look pretty ugly for a brief moment. We ate really quickly, because it was lunch time for most of the people. And Matt had to go to work. But we'll be back again and check out other items from Mo's including the milkshakes, in which it was a popular item at our time there. read more

The North Beach burger joint. At least since Clown Alley closed. These guys have been grilling gourmet burgers for us for decades. The bbq burger w bacon is my usual. Barbecue, bacon...bliss. The burger is solid. The fries are pretty darn good; they're natural style, w the skin on. Who says you can't have french fries & be healthy? The milk shakes. The best! Made to order, I used to ask for raspberry & chocolate mixed together. Real raspberries go into this. Sadly, on my last visit, I was told that they no longer do this?! Seriously? You can also add malt to any shake for a little extra. The breakfast is surprisingly good. Not gold medal good, but absolutely solid. They know how to make eggs. The bacon is applewood smoked. And if you happen to have been out late the night before, you'll no doubt be satisfied w the grease factor. Service varies from friendly & attentive, to straight up indifferent. My last visit, when I was informed about the no more milkshake flavor mixing, the waitress we had was really a poor excuse for one. Service w a poor attitude is a pet peeve of mine.
