One Sunday afternoon, I was craving burgers. I'm not sure why, but maybe because I was PMSing, or I just came back from a run at Embarcadero/The Pier, or I was hungover from drinking the night before or all of the above! All I knew at that specific time was that I wanted burgers and I was going to get some. My friend Kitty and I were going to go to Burgermeister on Columbus Avenue, but one of my roommates took us to Mo's instead. I was glad because the wait wasn't too long and I was determined to get my burger ASAP! After quickly gulping down my tiniest glass of mimosa made with fresh-squeezed orange juice, my burger arrived. H U G E mushroom burger (sauteed mushrooms with onions and garlic, tomatoes, lettuce and more onions). I love, love the burgers -- tasty, juicy and good for Ce's tummy! Angus beef is yummy -- corn fed, 100% tested and certified. Side of french fries is an additional $1.95, but it's worth it. Breakfast served from 9am - 2pm everyday! Blueberry pancake was delicious. Next time, I thinking I'll try the Salmon Florentine (english muffin topped with 2 poached eggs, smoked salmon, spinach minus the Hollandaise sauce). read more

Came here for a nice brunch with an old friend who recently moved to SF. Our wait was not that long, about 20-25 minutes. The place is really small and gets packed quick. Probably cuz you can smell the amazing potatoes they serve with their breakfast plates as you walk by the door or window of this restaurant. We both thought we'd try the mimosa they had here. I liked it but my friend wasn't too fond of the orange seeds that was sitting in her champagne glass. I ordered the smoked salmon omelet (only egg whites for me) that had creme fraiche in it. I've actually never had smoked salmon in an omelet before so it was definitely something new for me. I'd have to say, the salmon was a bit too salty for me, but that's probably normal. I did enjoy my house potatoes and wheat toast with that delicious jam they had sitting at the table though. All in all, a solid breakfast spot in North Beach area of SF. Tiny little establishment, but packed full of goodness. Decided to explore SF for the day and got hungry around lunch time. Went on to Yelp and found out that Mo's Grill was near by and thought we'd give it a try! The place was small so there was a bit of a wait - about 20-25 minutes for us, which wasn't too bad. Watching the cooks was pretty entertaining and there was so much on the walls to look at. When we finally got seated, our waitress was very friendly and made sure we got waters right away. I decided on a cheeseburger and the boyfriend got an eggs Benedict. His portion, in my opinion, was a little small, but he loved it. My burger was huge, juicy, and quite delicious! It was cooked perfectly medium, like I asked. One of the best burgers I've ever had. I added a cup of chili on the side and it was great as well. My portions were so generous, I couldn't even finish it all. Our waitress came by to make sure everything was good and to refill our waters on multiple occasions. On a windy summer day my friend and I spent all day hiking the mammoth hills of San Francisco. Around dinner time we found ourselves in North Beach and we were ready for some grub. We spotted the neon sign and neon hamburger down Grant so we hustled over to get our hands on some cheeseburgers. The bars in the area were packed with people watching the Giants game, but Mo's was surprisingly empty. But luckily, they had the game on as well. I kept things simple and ordered the normal cheeseburger. It was a decent size but the patty was way smaller than the bun. Thankfully the bun was delicious so the horrible bread to meat ratio seemed okay. The best part of the burger was definitely the house mayo. Normally I'm not too crazy about mayonnaise but this mayo was really good. The lettuce, tomato, and pickle were all fresh and tasty as well. Mo's gave us a good burger to fill us up and send us on our way. The dining area is small and doesn't offer any elaborate decoration except for some Three Stooges posters and various cow accents. We were in the area and starving and couldn't find a good a good place for tacos so we ended up here. They have a very decent selection of burgers and I got the Belly Buster Burger with cheese, sauteed mushrooms & caramelized onions. When I got the burger, everything was overflowing out of the burger bun. The burger was huge! I added all the veggies (cept the raw onions), took a bite and even though the insides were spilling everywhere, it was so worth stuffing it back in the bun every time I took a bite. The burger patty was cooked perfectly and seasoned well, the caramelized onions and mushrooms were delicious and all in all, it made the perfect combination of a burger. Overall, totally recommend. We'll, if you're running around North Beach trying to find a place for breakfast, try this place. Service is fast and as busy as they get, the food comes out pretty fast. I've had their Egg Sandwich with Bacon ($9) and Cheese and their Veggie Omelette ($10). Coffee was $2.75. The one guy next to me had a Truffled Mushroom Burger with Gruyere Cheese. That smelled and looked so yummy. Gonna try that next. Try getting here around 10am if you wanna beat the 11am rush on a Saturday. When ordering, be aware that their portions are HUGE. You will most likely go home with leftovers. When I come here for lunch I always try to share, but sometimes I get greedy and order my own. Then always regret it after. I love their Mexican omelet with a side of avocado. Instead of toast, I ask for extra potatoes. Their blueberry pancakes are also amazing, but I'm trying to stay away from sweets. Burgers are also known here. I've gotten them a few times, and they usually ask how you want it cooked. I order my burgers medium, because their medium rare is too rare and nobody wants a bloody burger. I can never EVER finish their burger. Reminding you again, that their portions are big. If you do by chance finish your whole meal... good luck trying to stay awake after. They usually only have two cooks here, and the place gets filled fast during breakfast and lunch. I loved that the burger was cooked exactly to order (I had asked for medium) and the meat was super moist and juicy. My party of four also shared an order of Chili Cheese Fries. The fries were thin-cut and super crispy, the way I like it. The chili was alright...it had beans in it and I'm not a big fan of beans. When you go to Mo's, you can expect simple, delicious food. Everything is clean and to the point - there aren't any crazy concocted sauces and fancy toppings to cover up mediocre meat. I lived in the area for over 15 years and never knew of this place until I moved away. Their portions are HUGE. I came here several times for dinner with some friends and always would like to come here again if I was in the area and craving for some burgers. I like how they charge you a lot but give you a big portion versus higher end restaurant that gives you a small portion and charge you a lot. I came here last week because I work semi close and got off work super late and this was one of the few places that was still open. Was about to go to King of Thai but so glad we spot this place instead. Too bad parking really sucks at north beach, otherwise, I'll be able to dine in more often. I ordered a Volcano Burger (Best Burger with Sharp Cheddar Cheese, topped with Smoked Ham, melted Swiss Cheese, and Chipotle Mayonnaise) to go. I also added mushroom in the burger since it didn't come with it. The wait was not long since there weren't too many customers at such a late hour on a weekday. Everything came out fast and hot. My burger cost me a little over $17. The only down side about ordering to go is really the bun. It got super soggy, but still tasty though. The patty was cooked medium and it was juicy, not a bit dry. All the ingredients blend in well together. Got fries as well. Finally tried Mo's Grill. It's in North Beach on Grant Ave @ Vallejo St. There's a Mo's Grill near Zeum, but I heard it's not as good as the one on Grant. I went for an early dinner at 4pm. There were people in there which I thought was cool but weird. There's a counter to eat at, but I choice table instead. Bar chairs are too high & then you got to worry about the purse. They grind the meat (Angus beef, corn fed, 100% tested & certified) fresh, & you can see the worker get it from the machine & pat pat pat it to the hamburger shape. Then they put it on the revolving grill & the buns are toasted on the grill over volcanic rocks. I got the "Best Burger" $6.25 - the waitress asked how I wanted it cooked. I said a little bit pink. Well, they didn't make it any kind of pink. It was marked "medium well"! Not what I wanted, but oh well. She asked do u want mayo? I said: on the side. And it was, a side dish even. Lettuce, tomato, & red onions come on the side w/ the meat on the buns. It was pretty good. I just had to dump tons of ketchup & mayo to it to make it less dry. This place makes the best burger in the city. It's close to 7 oz of grind beef. I'm not much of a beef eater and didn't feel uncomfortable after eating my mushroom burger. The bun is very different from other places - they have had this secret bun made for them for over 25 years. My mushroom burger had a hint of garlic and with the tomato, onion and lettuce - it was at least 4 inches high! It took several bites before I got into the burger. Towards the end, I took off the bun and just ate the burger. Their fries came out nice and hot and crunchy! There was enough fries for 4 of us! This is my second visit - the last time I came I had the breakfast! That was also a winner. You must come by to try out this location. Nice, small and cozy! read more

There is a great selection of toppings and sauces to change up the burger. Mo's is a really cute retro diner. They serve a variety of gigantic burgers for an average of 9 bucks or so. I ordered a chicken Alpine burger that day which has gruyer cheese (yum) and mushrooms. It came on a huuuge patty with loads of fries that could definitely be shared between two people and it was! The chicken was ok but my buds were off that day ( I was sick ) so I can't really judge. The bf ordered a burger. Cheeseburger to be exact and he loved it. Scarfed it down within a few minutes. We also shared a vanilla shake which was very yummy and they bring you the extra on the side! I love that. Mo's is small but the service is great. You can also watch your burgers being cooked on a grill from your seat. We sat at the bar and was attended to by the only waitress at the place. Hubby decided on the blue cheese burger with fries and I got the soup of the day - seafood chowder. A member of our group ordered egg's benedict when we asked our waitress if the hollandaise sauce came from a mix her answer "Nothing we make here comes from a mix" that was when I knew we were in for a treat. Our group came to Mo's Grill in search of a pancake breakfast because Mama's cafe was closed...we were not disappointed. Their pancakes are fluffy and thick. I highly recommend the banana pancake, the fresh bananas that they use caramelize and flavor the pancakes perfectly. What can I say but "WOW"! This place blows any burger joint I've gone to in this city away. Fries are crisp and crunchy and plentiful, the burgers are huge with all the toppings you could ask for, and there's a range of drinks, from bottled beer to soda to milkshakes. I've been to a few burger places in the city and by far this is one of the best ones I've been to. There's a garden burger and a mushroom burger for the vegetarians, and unlike most of the other types of veggie burger I've tried, this one was pretty awesome. We made it up there early enough that there was no crowd at the time we arrived, but a large crowd showed up and boy did it get noisy. This isn't a great place to go if you want to have a nice romantic meal and talk with a loved one (but if you did, you wouldn't be going to a burger place, would you?) but if you want some burger and fries that are done just right, this is a place to check out. I'd happily go back over any other burger place. Burger Bar and Bistro Burger have nothing on Mo's! read more

Today was my first real day in San Francisco and for breakfast, I couldn't pick a better place! I had the bacon pancakes which was more than I could finish. Thank God it was 12 minute walk uphill bc I needed to burn off the carbs. The meal was only enhanced by the company of another patron. We had a reiviting conversation about weed and politics. The gentleman offered to pay for my meal and was very complementary to me. Apparently, I looked studious and like I could play a good game of basketball. Both of which are true, lol. This review may sound a little negative but it really was a plus for me. I totally enjoyed this dining experience. As my friends and I stood in the line for Mama's On Washington Square (that was going to be a 2 hour wait at least), we decided to head somewhere else for breakfast. We found this little gem using our yelp app. When we got there, the waitress said it would be a 30 min wait, but we were seated in less than 15. The space is small but we were able to find a table to fit the 8 of us. From our seats we can see all of the food being freshly made. The waitress came back ever now and then to fill our waters to the very top and check up on how our food was. Sticking with my usual, I ordered the French toast with extra fruit. The plate came out amazing, 4 slices of French toast covered with fresh blackberries, slices of banana and strawberries. Umm umm! I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. Their portions are pretty big (on an empty stomach, I could only finish 3 slices+fruit). Most, if not all of the items, were less than $15. My friends got the eggs florentine, just like the eggs Benedict, without the back and with smoked salmon. It looked delicious. Definitely trying that dish next! A pearl of North Beach, A small diner with home made classics and char grilled burgers. So many options to choose from, whether with a group or eating solo this is the spot to check out. Wednesday Brisket Special: eating solo I get coffee and the Wednesday special/home made brisket/mash with dark gravy/mix sautéed veg/big hunk of garlic bread! It's the special of the day and it is a meal not to underestimate. Fork tender brisket with good flavor, mixing that with gravy and tatters for sure! Veg is good but not the star of this meal. Use that bread to sop up the juices. Maybe a second cup of coffee and that's dinner. Leftovers are encouraged but certainly not mandatory. I caved and brought a huge portion of meat back for later.
