On Monday evening, August 3rd, some of my relatives came from Korea, so after having a family dinner together at Seogwan Myeonok, we went to Motiq Coffee to have some coffee and tea. I've been going to this coffee shop often since it was still called Mi Cafe. They recently completely remodeled the place, so the exterior looks quite different now. First of all, they used to have really comfortable sofas in the outdoor patio area, but all of the sofas are gone now. They only have metal tables and chairs, which I didn't really like. Also, the indoor space used to have the doors firmly closed, but this time the doors were open, so we went inside to take a look. It seemed like that area wasn't completely open yet, but there were metal tables and chairs there as well. So we went in, sat down, and spent quite a long time (Maybe one hour?) chatting over coffee and tea. Then, at 10 p.m., a security guard came and told us that they close the doors at 10 and that we needed to leave, so we left. But even after we got outside, the security guard in the parking lot kept hurrying us along, telling us to leave quickly because it was already past closing time. I really didn't like that. Honestly, I really miss the cozy and comfortable sofas they used to have.
Not even exaggerating when I say this is the best cafe in all aspects: matcha, coffee, food, outlets, tables, and FREE VALET PARKING! This place is always packed, their matcha is some of the highest quality I've had in the US, and their coffee is strong as well. The kimchi carbonara pasta is the perfect fusion dish and their coffee burrito is actually better than Wake LA's. Love that they have covered outdoor seatings with fans and mists for the summer and heatwave!
This place is located on the corner of a white building upstairs. There is free underground parking if you cannot find a spot on the street. This business has indoor seating and a huge covered outdoor seating area. We ordered a hojicha latte with a hojicha chestnut cream top, a matcha latte, a breakfast burrito and kimchi fried rice. Everything was fantastic!!!! This is a new spot.
Honestly, Motiq in K-town is a pretty solid addition to the neighborhood, especially if you need a spacious spot to park with a laptop and actually get some work done. They have a massive setup with plenty of room both inside and outside. They do have some parking, but I just grabbed a spot on the street to keep it simple. Space-wise, it's great, but the food and drinks were a bit of a mixed bag for me. I ordered the mango matcha and the Japanese salt bread. The matcha quality itself is clearly high, but the mango layer just did not want to mix into the drink at all without a ton of aggressive stirring. The salt bread wasn't quite as soft as I wanted it to be either, though that bright green cream they pipe down the middle looks great. Next time I'd probably just skip the fruit combos entirely and stick to a straight-up matcha latte if you really want to taste the good tea. Still a nice spot to hang out though.
~4.5/5 Overall a very solid cafe with limited but amazing breakfast/brunch food, plentiful seating with WiFi and outlets, and solid matcha. Cafe is really busy around peak hours (we went Friday 2-5pm) and the WiFi has very limited bandwidth and won't work if there's a lot of people. You need to use hotspot if it's busy so plan accordingly. Don't sleep on the food here. I came here because I saw a tiktok on the breakfast burrito and they were not lying about how good it was, paired with 3 different sauces (Chipotle was the best). We also got the kimchi carbonara and it was super creamy and rich, and crazy good. It did take a while to come out though. The double matcha is pretty good, not my favorite in ktown. I liked the matcha cream top but the matcha latte is on the milkier side once mixed. Cafe workers are kind, and offered to lower the shades once it got super sunny. I would definitely come back when I'm in the area.
Loved the koi matcha, as someone who is very picky with matcha drinks. They are open late (8am-10pm)! So much indoor/outdoor seating across two floors and free valet parking downstairs. Recently upgraded their matcha powder and rebranded from mi cafe. Wifi sadly does not work so my friend and I had to use our hotspots.
Was excited to check out Motiq Cafe after their rebranding! I stopped by on a Friday afternoon, and the cafe was busy with people working or hanging out with friends. There's an indoor seating area along with a spacious patio with plenty of outdoor seating. Parking was also easy - there's free valet in the underground garage, which makes visiting super convenient. I ordered the matcha with matcha cream top, less sweet, and absolutely loved it. The drink was so smooth and the matcha flavor was rich. It definitely is very comparable to the other popular double matcha drinks in Ktown. Overall, this is a great spot in Ktown, and I'll definitely be back to try more!
The only downside here is the parking, which can be pretty limited, especially on weekends. Once you're inside though, the space is huge. There's plenty of indoor seating along with a large shared patio for the plaza, so it's easy to find a place to sit. This is a great spot to get work done. There are outlets everywhere, free wifi, and the staff provided awesome service throughout my visit. I tried the black sesame latte, which was absolutely outstanding, and the burger was surprisingly really good too. It's not often you find a place that does both coffee and food this well. Overall, it's a great place to be productive for a few hours while enjoying a good meal and coffee. Just be sure to plan ahead for parking if you're visiting on a busy weekend.
Great matcha/coffee spot in Ktown that's great for working/studying from! To drink, I got the double matcha and it was pretty good and smooth. Good matcha volume with some dry notes, but not a deal breaker. The matcha cream top was also creamy and smooth. The drink was the perfect amount of sweetness. I'd still prefer Stagger's and Rok's double matcha over this, but this was still great. The interior and exterior are spacious with plenty of seats, tables, and outlets. There's also free Wifi available. I came on a Sunday noon and it was pretty busy, but I was able to get a good spot since I came early around 9:30am. During peak hours, you may have to wait some time like around 15-20 minutes for your order to be ready due to the popularity of this cafe. They also have free covered parking, bathrooms, and food besides pastries. You can honestly spend a good amount of time here! I would definitely recommend this spot and would come back.
Such a charming little café with a really welcoming atmosphere. It felt cozy from the moment I walked in.. though was a little confusing as it was on the second level and I had walked in from the street. And the service was kind throughout my short takeout visit. They accidentally gave me the wrong order, but mistakes happen, and it didn't take away from the overall experience. As soon as I got home I called to hopefully help the other person that would have been affected- and they were truly the nicest about the whole thing! So while I didn't get the Italian sandwich I ordered/wanted, I did get a delicious breakfast burrito instead. You can tell they put care into what they serve. The space itself is the kind of place you want to make plans to be for a long while. Great airy and breezy deck with plenty of plants and a robust WiFi. I'd definitely come back and give them another try!
Omg, they changed their name from Mi Café to Motiq, but the drinks are just as good as I remember :) I highly, highly recommend the double matcha latte and the matcha strawberry latte, which is still my personal favorite. The quality has remained consistent, and the drinks are just as delicious as ever. They've also updated the layout and overall vibe of the café. It feels much more chic and modern now, replacing the cozy sofas and couches they used to have. While I do miss some of the comfy seating, the refreshed aesthetic is cute and inviting in its own way. As always, service is quick and efficient. The only downside is that it's definitely more crowded these days now that the café has gone viral. Still, the drinks are worth the visit, and I'll continue coming back whenever I'm craving a good matcha fix.
Great spot for tons of open seating, good food and coffee! The parking is valet as well, which is free and convenient. The only downfall was that we waited an hour for an avocado toast that was forgotten! We did come in multiple times but they reassured us that once the buzzer went off it would be ready. After a ton of patience, we had to eventually communicate that we think our order was forgotten. Other than that, I recommend the strawberry matcha, the Misugaru latte, and Steve's bolognese from here! It was a delicious meal and pairing with the drinks! So glad to try Motiq and check that off my cafe list!
Mi Cafe is considered my ol reliable and always is a great place to get a matcha and get some work done! I personally like the Ceremonial Matcha with almond milk, but to be honest all the drinks are good! The patio seating is very comfortable but if you look to beat the heat it is heavily air conditioned inside to have the best of both settings! She's a fan, she's a fan, she's a fan! I absolutely love the location of Mi Cafe for casual drink with a friend. If you get a seat along the window, you have a great vantage point over KTown for people watching. Sit me in front of good people watching with a drink & a friend - goodness I'm set for hours. I liked the clean aesthetic of the shop inside and the outdoor seating? Gorgeous. This may be becoming my favorite cafe for coworking or solo working, it's peaceful. I usually just have a basic black cold brew but it's so satisfying here. Good flavor and served with a friendly disposition. I have yet to try the eats --- next time! Pretty nice cafe, seems to be pretty trendy and ambiance inside is like a relaxed, work-friendly & casual environment. A lot of high school kids for a reason but it wasn't too loud. Service was good. Lady at the counter was extremely friendly, didn't push for the tip (I almost forgot to hit the tip button and she didn't say anything until I realized which was nice). Spanner was a 10/10. I got an avocado toast that was decent nothing crazy! read more

Underrated study cafe!! Mi Cafe has everything you need - charging stations, spacious seating, and most importantly yummy drinks. My friends and I all got their signature Misugaru Latte :) I'm not a huge fan of coffee, so this is saying a lot when I say it was delicious!! One downside was my friend has a sesame allergy and there was no description mentioning black sesame. I will say that the latte was heavily on the black sesame side rather than misugaru. Our server was also the sweetest. She recommend some drinks and was very accommodating with my friends allergy. Would totally come back! read more

Very good matcha spot! Very smooth and creamy. We tried out the strawberry matcha cream top and the mango matcha cream top. It was best without mixing either the mango or strawbery into the drink so I'd recommend just getting the standard matcha cream top. Lots of indoors and outdoor space to study or hangout with free wifi and food options. It was definitely a vibe! read more
Finally got to visit Mi cafe! We got their Fettuccine Pasta & Avocado Toast. Definitely coming back! The pasta was very creamy and flavorful. I never tried an avocado toast like theirs before - loved the crunchiness of the onions, bell peppers, and the fluffy bun. Hot Americano & Misugaru Latte was fantastic :) Friendly staff, many seatings inside and out, great study cafe! Free but limited underground parking. Good place to study! There are so many drinks and food options and plenty of seating indoors and outdoors. We got the matcha creme (unsweetened) and the matcha latte. The matcha flavor was very subtle so we were a little disappointed. However, I heard their other drinks are good. The service was very quick and there's a small parking garage. I think this is a great cafe to study at and talk with friends. read more

this true hidden gem in ktown is amazing. Mi Cafe is upstairs on the second story, with lots of big windows and natural lighting. the misugaru latte is so gooood. the cafe owner also owns a restaurant, M Spoon, on the first story. i ran downstairs to try their kimbap and it's delicious!! service at both the cafe and restaurant are excellent. they have super spacious seating for those needing to get some work done or want to enjoy the view of the big kfc bucket in the sky or... the opportunities are endless babes, come check it out :) read more

The mango matcha came with a matcha cream top! It was absolutely delicious and the flavor was on point. If you don't want to wait in the rōk line, I suggest coming here because their matcha is v v similar just that this one is bigger! The strawberry salt bread was so yummy but I expected it to be a bit more buttery and crispy at the bottom. The strawberries were decadent and the filling had a perfect amount of sweetness! There is a bunch of seating available inside and outside! They have a bathroom, self-serve water and overhead space heaters outside! It's a quiet ambiance overall. read more

I got the matcha cream top aka double matcha and I felt like it was not sweet enough to me because I like my matcha extra sweet. I let this super sweet associate by the name of April know that I was hoping to make it sweeter and she instead had it remade to perfection. I love it here regardless of the fact that even with the ample space it's super packed out. read more

Food is amazing, but kitchen closes at 3:30p!! I had #17 bc I can LOL. Man I love the ambiance here, they have hella seats outside but I stayed inside to study. This is def my new spot, such a nice space! Matcha & Misuguru were 10/10, def trying something else next time though!! read more

Today I decided to go out and study at a cafe for the first time. I found this place on tik tok and it looked big so I decided to come try it out! It was honestly a 10/10 experience! I ordered the strawberry matcha as recommended from the worker! They had a killer playlist playing in the background, at first when i had sat down i thought the music was gonna distract me but it actually motivated me haha! I love how there are couches too, incase u want something more comfier but there is tons of seating. As for parking theres a lot downstairs free for 90 min limit. I just moved my car after the 90 min to another spot nobody noticed so good thing! Other than that I would come again! read more

I often visit cafes to cowork and this does check my boxes for that task - outlets, comfortable seating, large enough tables to hold my laptop and tablet. I arrived at 10am since I like to start early + heard this place get busy quickly, and I'm glad they offer affordable food options! This is my favorite study spot at ktown right now. They have both indoor and outdoor studying space. The seating is really comfortable with sufficient table space. Regardless if you sit inside or outside there is a clear view of the street and ambient natural light. They also play really good music to accompany your study. WiFi is good and it has 2 restrooms inside. I got the misugaru latte (8/10). It is more on the grainy side and really sweet even when I asked for no sugar. I can taste the strong espresso taste with a hint of black sesame, then my tastebud gets overwhelmed by the sweet milky taste of the cream. read more

One of the main things that stood out to me was the amount of seating available. There are a ton of seats outdoors with a well-decorated environment; it is genuinely so pretty. The inside is just as impressive. The employees are kind and welcoming. I was having trouble choosing what to drink, but she was patient the entire time. The food was a bit expensive, grilled cheese for $12, and an avocado toast for $15, but nothing really shocking. They did not skimp with the guacamole on the avocado toast, and the grilled cheese was really buttery :). My cafe latte was very foamy and everything you want from a coffee! read more

I'd read in the LA Times that this spot had one of the best misugaru lattes in town, and I was craving a cream top drink today, so I braved the Friday afternoon traffic to come down from Hollywood. I'd also read there was parking, and indeed there is a well-marked subterranean parking lot. It was crowded, but I found an interesting spot--but a spot nevertheless--on the side of the ramp. Hopefully my car is still there when I go out a few hours from now. Once I parked, I made my way--though I walked into the wrong cafe first--up to the second floor, where they have both a sprawling, comfortable patio and a spacious and attractive indoor work area. It was busy--it seems to be a popular spot for students and/or remote workers on laptops--but I found a table inside within cord-stretching distance of an outlet. There are lots of two-tops, some larger tables and even a standing (or sitting) counter where you can look out on Olympic. There was afternoon sun, but they have shades you can lower to block it out. In the meantime, I ordered my misugaru latte. The drink is indeed beautiful and delicious, hitting all the different flavor notes, and lived up to the LA Times recommendation. Further, the counter staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and while I didn't place undue demands on the Wi-Fi, it seemed to work seamlessly. In short, this is an excellent addition to the LA coffee scene. While it's on the far edge of K-Town for me, which makes it up to a 30-minute drive, I'm not regretting that one bit. read more

Cute cafe with a nice outdoor patio/terrace on the 2nd floor. There's good parking between their lot and with street parking. Service is friendly and they have a good selection of coffee and non-coffee options. I went simple with the cold brew, but will try their more signature drinks next time. There' looks like there would be a good selection of pastries, but since I got there after noon, they were limited. I believe other breakfast offerings are available too. I went with the Kouign Amann. My only gripe is that they didn't offer to heat it up, which they should have. When I got it back to the table, the Kouign Amann was very dry and hard and difficult to eat. I ended up ordering some Bungeoppang (filled fish shaped mochi pastries) from Ooyoo across the way from M cafe, which worked out nicely. I will definitely revisit M cafe for their drinks and cute terrace and will try out another food or pastry option. read more
New cafe in town, we had the popular lattes on the menu- forgot the name- one was blueberry latte- they all tasted good. They have a nice patio as well as cute interior inside the cafe. They have a parking conveniently located under the cafe. Definitely, would come back for some latte. read more
Super cute and spacious study cafe located on the second floor with free lot parking and good specialty lattes! They have a huge and beautiful outdoor patio with many plants but a big downside is the many gnats that fly around inside. I caught so many of them during my few hours of studying here and it can be quite bothersome. I did enjoy their Misugaru latte a lot although it was quite pricey at $8. This was a Korean multigrain powder with a nutty taste and grainy texture. It reminded me of a black sesame drink but I liked the mix of grains in the latte. They also have a couple pastry and sandwich options if you're feeling hungry. Overall if you're looking for a place to do some work I would definitely recommend checking out this spot. There is free parking in the underground parking structure which is a huge plus for being in K-town. read more

I got the matcha einspanner which was good. I wish it had a bit more of a matcha taste though... Anyway I'm not here to talk about the drinks, I'm here to talk about the service. INCREDIBLY long line which I understand because this place is popular, especially on a weekend. What I don't understand is why they only have one person at the kiosk who is also giving out food...at an EXTREMELY slow pace. The worker (Allison) was working at such a slow pace for the demand that the line was giving. The line was going out the door and she was taking her sweet time taking orders, checking off receipts, prepping and giving out the food. Like yes you can work at a relaxed state but if you clearly see the line growing at an exponential rate, I think you should pick up the pace... She seemed in no rush and perfectly fine with the line being a 30 minute wait... She also full on told her coworker, "Oh yeah, they can wait" when he asked her how the customers were.....I don't know man gotta pick up the pace... I was intimidated to come here just because I know a lot of cafes that blow up on tik tok the workers are rude and you feel judged but right when I walked in the lady at the counter welcomed me and was so nice and it made me feel at ease. I ordered the iced matcha with cream top and the breakfast burrito. Let me just say the matcha was so RICH AND TASTE SO GOOD. The burrito was so good as well and I would say overall the cafe had good seating and was clean. I will 100% come again and get a matcha read more

It's a huge study cafe! Lots of space and seats. Parking is relatively easy and free. Service is quick and the food is pretty good. Food options are limited but they have a good amount of drink options. read more
