This is probably one of the best cafes I've found in ktown to study so far! There's lots of seating both inside and outside and outlets as well. I love that they offer both drink and food options --great for hours of locking in. I went previously and the service was pretty slow for just 2 drinks, but this is my second time going and I can notice the improvement, though I would recommend for them to have the buzzers notify the customer for each item. My friend and I ordered both drinks and food, but after our drinks were ready, they took our buzzers, causing us to keep checking the counter to see if our food was ready. read more

This is a great studying spots for students. There were plenty of seats and outlets to use. Outdoors seating is also available when there aren't events being hosted. The staff were also very nice as well. I got this latte and it was a combo of sesame and coffee and something else I forgot the barista said. But it tasted amazing with a some sesame flavor and texture. Would not recommend if you don't like having the actual ground sesame seeds in your drinks. M Cafe is my new favorite study spot! It was so peaceful, had plentiful indoor/outdoor seating, and great views from the 2nd story of M Plaza. I enjoyed the iced matcha latte! It's nice cafe in k town with good parking and very nice interior. I ordered milk tea and blossom coffee and they are over my expectation. However there is serious issue that I have to give 2 stars. This place is seriously understaffed. There was only one guy working and he was already overwhelmed. It took very long to get my drinks. Surface level and subterranean, plus overflow parking at the KFC across the street. Enter from Catalina. For drinks, matcha cream top and auburn latte are my favorites! But it usually gets packed, with people with laptops indoors and outside gets LOUD on Sundays. There is a group of people who have been scream-laughing and clapping for 3+ hours in the patio right now. If you're looking for a place to quietly relax, this isn't it, at least on weekends. But I also hope that people learn basic manners and know that it ain't ok to scream in public space... You can have a good time while being considerate for others... There are retractable awnings and potted plants to make the atmosphere pleasant. There is free parking downstairs and across the street and a security guard so it feels safe. The bathrooms are clean. There was a very kind woman working in the front who was very helpful and patient as it was our first time ordering. She had great recommendations for the drinks which we ended up loving! They have great milk alternatives and a nice variety of drinks and pastries available. The inside was very clean and organized and had a warm and comforting atmosphere. The outside for the cafe has a lovely open air deck decorated with vibrant plants and comfy seating to welcome all hungry patrons. There isn't an exam season that this cafe doesn't see me and my friends. This place is one of my top 3 for studying or working. So many outlets, so many tables, free parking, free wifi and lots of natural lighting. The drinks however, are mostly subpar (hence the 4 stars) but an iced matcha tea or strawberry matcha will usually do the trick for me. They have this shrimp pesto sandwich/croissant that is so yummy. I order it every time it's in stock. For pastries/food, I'd say to come early since they do sell out! read more

It seems simple enough for a coffee shop to make sure to hit the key elements of what coffee shops provide in the age of remote work. And yet -- it's extremely, extremely difficult to find coffee shops that hit most of the marks, let alone all of them. Quaint coffee shops with personality and style often lack practical details. Actually, MOST coffee shops lack practical details. A place like Cafe Mak -- an oft-frequented spot for students, and a place that I do love dearly despite its flaws -- has soft seats, but very few that are comfortable. And that's pointing out that it actually HAS soft seats (ie, armchairs) -- because in the age of ultra minimalism, this just happens to be the first thing to go. I don't do well with hard, plastic seats, and when I work on a project or work remotely, I just want to feel comfortable while doing it. The only coffee shop in the area (other than Mak) that has more couch/softer seats is (randomly) Coin de Rue on Western, which is a bakery, but one that has an upper level with beautiful natural light and lots of couches. It would be great, save one EXTREMELY IMPORTANT DETAIL: the music is unbearable. Just, horrid -- loud, loud pop. Today is my first time at M Cafe and I'm just so excited to find: pleasant music at a low level, quality drinks, so many windows and natural light! SOFT SEATS!!!! A few couches, and softer seats, as well as those plastic chairs that all those other coffee shops have. Patio seating. OUTLETS!!!!!! I can't believe it!!!!! It's everything I want in a place to work at, I can't believe it took this long for a spot that hits all the marks to open up in Ktown, the mecca of these type of coffee shops :). At last. EDIT TO UPDATE: one minor detail after sitting here for a little over an hour -- the air conditioning is too high!!! spot is almost perfect, but this makes it not quite perfect.
