My wife and I went for lunch. The place was really cute inside and the tables were mostly full of customers, but it didn't seem too busy. Our waiter was fantastic. He was knowledgeable about the menu and helped us make choices while also but being overbearing. We opted for some fried balls which were delicious, but very heavy. It gave me state fair vibes. We each could only eat one. We also ordered a fusion sushi in the creamy ono. It was escolar topped with seared mayonnaise and eel sauce. Really great bite. Lastly we ordered the godzilla roll. Really fresh and the rice was nice and firm. I would go back for more rolls. My only complaint was how expensive it all was. You get what you pay for usually, but this place was on par with nobu prices. This place is not nobu. It's more of an izakaya type vibe.

Sushi Motto is hands down the best sushi spot in Denton! The fish is incredibly fresh and the menu has an amazing variety of flavors to try. I've been a few times now and have been blown away each visit. The lemon salmon sushi is one of my favorites -- the perfect slice of salmon and bold, bright flavors. The madai truffle carpaccio had a nice kick, while the salmon avocado carpaccio was perfectly balanced.The unagi was also spot on, with just the right amount of sauce. Our server Peter was phenomenal -- very professional, knowledgeable about the menu, and his recommendations were outstanding. After living in Denton for over 10 years, I can confidently say no other sushi restaurant (Blue Ginger, J Sushi, or I Sushi) even comes close to Sushi Motto.

My husband and I were recommended to Motto Sushi by a manager at Marty B's... funny, I know! We tried it today for lunch and we're highly impressed! The sushi was fresh, delicious, and very original! We had a little chat with James Bond, the owner on our way out and know that we will be back again soon! I absolutely LOVED Motto Sushi! I was only in Texas for 3 days, but I KNEW I had to check out this spot. Jason, the waiter was really friendly and super personable. I had a great time. The fish on the sushi was so fatty and delicious, you can really taste the quality of the food and it's really set apart compared to other sushi restaurants I've tried. The decor and vibes are very pretty and I love the ambiance there with the pink trees and cutie string lights. If I come back to Texas again, I will NOT pass up on coming here!!! Love love love!!!

Service was amazing! Pleasure of a great server and the chef came out to ensure everyone was happy with their food, and offered my son a lollipop. Food was really good, would come again and even though i can't recall this tuna dish that came in two pieces, it makes my mouth water thinking about it again. Their karaage was perfection, and my son enjoyed his fried rice. My husband also finished his entire meal and sushi, he loved the wagyu roll. Inside is cozy and they have a fish tank, nice and clean cute decor.

I had a really good experience using my Groupon here despite what some of the other reviews claimed. We ordered the Vegas roll, baked salmon roll, & the Philadelphia roll. The rolls were bigger than expected and we had about half a roll left over. The food was amazing! The Vegas roll is now my favorite roll. The waitress was super nice and kept our waters refilled etc without having to ask. The guy making the sushi also made sure to greet us (from behind the counter) when we walked in the door and thanked us when we left. I noticed on the menu they have a good lunch special. My brother informed me he comes there for lunch frequently and loves the place as well. My only con is that miso soup did not automatically come with our rolls, at the other sushi place I go to I always automatically get miso soup brought out as an appetizer. read more

We stopped in while visiting our son and have found our new favorite restaurant. The food was not only amazing it was presented so beautifully. This place was such a pleasant surprise! The sushi and the service is incredible, the chef is happy to customize orders or give you the opportunity to try his personal recipes. The different sauces/marinades he makes are AMAZING! Chef will always make his way out to greet you and ensure the service was great. Additionally, they have several excellent fish options you won't find in other local places. If you want Keiichi quality, at half the cost, look no further. New management took over. It's now "Motto Sushi" We liked it before, but WOW have they done a makeover to this place physically and to the menu. Right down to the Japanese soy used which I haven't witnessed since being in Japan - spectacular. Reasonably priced. $20 / plate with tip for a great lunch experience. It's a great experience for something different than a burger or sandwich and we love it because it's close. We'll be there at least once a week! read more

Best sushi I've ever had! My husband and I tried this place out for dinner last week and we absolutely loved it! My husband is a big sushi fan and I tend to eat it now and then. The staff were all very welcoming and helpful. Jason our waiter was really fun and he gave us several recommendations that we tried and loved! Everything we ordered was delicious and tasted so fresh. The chef came by to check on us himself as well. He was very kind. This is now our new favorite sushi restaurant and we will definitely be back!! Next time I'll have to take pictures! We ate everything we got so quickly I forgot to take pictures of anything. It was all so well presented and delicious! We highly recommend it! read more

Everything was so fresh and delicious! Presentation was a 10/10 . Service was also great, the head sushi chef (James Bond) came to everyone's tables and introduced himself and made sure we where enjoying everything. It is one of the pricier sushi spots in denton but the quality is very much worth the price tag. I will definitely be back! My one and only complaint is i wish the pieces of sushi had been just a tad bit bigger. I was a little disappointed after seeing the big beautiful pieces others have posted on here. read more

This place is the most delicious surprise in Denton. I never write reviews, but my experience here was too positive not to share. Not only did I have the most delicious sushi dish of my life here, but I also had a wonderful experience with every staff member I encountered. I got the tuna poke bowl with spicy sauce. The quality of the food was top notch. Everything was clearly executed with care. And the staff even remembered me from a visit during their soft open over 6 weeks ago. The food was a little bit of a wait, but 100% worth the wait. I came here and enjoyed it under previous management, but it is 100% my new spot. read more

10/10 would recommend!! Stumbled up on this hidden gem right off of I-35 in Denton and it is BY FAR the best sushi I've ever had. The head chef nails a California sushi style menu, makes all sauces in BOH, fish is super fresh, and puts together a beautiful plate presentation on top. Hands down the best restaurant I've ever been to. The presentation was beautiful and the food was phenomenal. I've come here plenty of times. I normally get the sushi meal and upgrade the roll to one of the signature rolls. When I asked to do that today the sushi chefs responded with "no". Guess it's not worth his time. I've always been more than willing to pay the difference in cost. read more

So I saw the sketch reviews on yelp for Sushi Motto and I am SO CONFUSED! We ordered a few riceless sushi rolls, and an avocado bomb, and they were DELISH. Granted, we ordered on uber eats, but that shouldn't change quality at all. We're hoping to go in person within the next few weeks to see how it is there, but the taste, size, quality, and temp of all of our items we ordered were PERRRRRFect. So the reason for a 3 star..we've been here multiple times and have stopped and then recently started coming again...needless to say this place has great food and staff is friendly. I would never recommend ordering to go unless you've got an hour to spare which happened on all our to go online orders. Upon arriving they said 10-15 min my order would be ready...25 min after that they apologized and asked if I wanted a complimentary drink, which I didn't even get any other times I've ordered online to go! So I took the offer at the same time was offended for being offered a $3 drink for free on a $100 order and having to wait an hour for my food. I never reviewed this place because it's so good and the people are great and didn't want to leave a bad review, just keep coming back and recommending via word of mouth and thru social media..good sushi is hard to find in Texas without having to travel far. Only come here if you plan to dine in..to go orders they have no time management skills and they just blame it on everyone ordering at the same exact time. Whataburger in Corinth is much faster than this place for online orders! read more

Don't eat here. The sushi was rotten. It has gone bad. It was a take out order so I immediately messaged to complain, and they argued with me and refused to make it right. Seriously seriously gross, terrible service. They tried to tell me they've never gotten a complaint before about freshness, and a quick trip to yelp shows they that others have had this experience. read more

This place was a sushi must since it was cousins favorite in Texas. The place is quite and clean. Best of all the atmosphere is toned to represent Japanese style! I ordered the OH MY God (OMG) sushi and the Jurassic Park sushi, without the eel. The OMG comes is served in a unique way and comes a little fire on sushi. Inside of the sushi is crunchy and deep fried and the top layer is soft. If you are looking for both raw and cooked tempera style sushi, this is a must try. On they other hand, the Jurassic sushi is like deep fried tempura and comes along with all the crunchy vegetables! I wish I had more time to try other varieties. I did notice they do have a drive through and curbside pick up. Inside was pretty spacious and it had a few people eating around lunch time on a weekday. My food was ready when I went to get it, which was awesome. General Tso's chicken was very delicious. The piece of chicken meat was fresh and tasty and good pieces, but the tough and chewy parts of the chicken. The flavor was good, not too sweet or spicy. However I wish they had broccoli included. The rice was steamed food and tastes as you would expect white rice from a Chinese restaurant to taste like, bland to mild flavor (It's white rice). I definitely would recommend this spot and you should try them out too. I know I'll be back!

Step 4: Name every roll after either a volcano, a ninja, or an apocalypse. Komodo Loco apparently looked at that formula and said, "Nah." This place has actual character. The restaurant is dark and cool without feeling like you're being interrogated. There are cozy little nooks everywhere, and somehow it manages to feel both laid-back and upscale. Like if a speakeasy and a sushi restaurant had a child who grew up with excellent taste. Then the food arrived. Look, I've had plenty of sushi. I've had good sushi. I've had "my friend won't stop talking about this sushi" sushi. Komodo Loco belongs in the last category. The fish was incredibly fresh, but what really stood out was that the rolls didn't all taste like slight variations of spicy mayo negotiating with cream cheese. The flavors were genuinely original. We ordered the Crispy Rice Bites, the T-Dub Roll, and the Horacio Roll based on our server's recommendations. The Crispy Rice Bites were so good I briefly considered ordering a second round before I had finished the first. The T-Dub Roll disappeared from the plate so quickly that I suspect it may have violated several laws of physics. The Horacio Roll was one of those dishes that makes you stop talking mid-sentence and stare into the middle distance while reconsidering every life choice that led you to not order two of them. Which brings me to our server: Breann. Or Breanna. I apologize for not knowing which one. In my defense, I was busy entering a committed relationship with sushi. My daughter is moving to Denton, and since we don't live here, we asked what we should order. Breann/Breanna immediately became the Gandalf of menu navigation. There was no hesitation. No "everything is good." No vague server diplomacy. Just confident recommendations that absolutely delivered. She was kind, funny, helpful, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. More importantly, she made my daughter feel at home in a city she's about to call home. As a dad, that meant a lot. I also loved how Komodo Loco celebrated Pride Month. Not because restaurants have to weigh in on everything, but because the atmosphere simply communicated: "Hey, you're welcome here." And honestly, that's one of the best things a restaurant can do. Good food fills your stomach. A welcoming place fills the room. Komodo Loco managed to do both. So yes, I'll be back every time I'm in Denton. My daughter thinks she's moving here for school. I think she's moving here so I'll have an excuse to eat at Komodo Loco several times a year. One of us is probably right.

The service? Incredible. The food? Iconic. It's so good all around. I'm a vegetarian and they had a bunch of options for me and were really accommodating. At first I wasn't sure but my meat-eater family dragged me because they're obsessed after just a few meals, and I'm glad they did because it was sooooo good, I had a huge thing of veggie fried rice and for dessert their tempura cheesecake which had green tea ice cream with it and oh my freaking gosh I literally can't get over how delicious it was!
