I liked the order and pay before you sit down setup, and the staff were friendly and attentive. The food was lacking. The breakfast sandwich had 3+ congealed orange cheese slices that made it gross. They served margarine, not butter, and corn syrup, not maple. Half of my hash browns had scallion slices, probably from someone else's order on the grill. The blueberry pancakes were ok. Definitely a step down in food quality from Perkins/Denny's/etc. Decor could stand to be updated. read more

I used to love this place at the old location. The staff was always involved and excited to see you. At this new location it was excellent, till Covid. The process was a little weird. But understandable. Well a few days ago my wife and I go in, and it's the same process. It felt impersonal, and didn't feel like the same cafe we used to love coming to. My wife was deciding what to get, and she felt rushed almost as a line was behind her. It's a bit awkward. We then sat at our table, food and coffee was brought to us then we never saw a server again. I enjoy sitting and ordering and taking my time with breakfast. If you do to, this isn't really the place for it. It just feels rushed and impersonal. Hopefully they will go back to traditional serving style. Food I think breakfast at least has gone down hill a bit. The vegetables had been on their last days. Eggs were a bit rubbery. Our family has been going to Mountain Lyon for 25 years. It's a tradition that starts the day off right. When they moved from the old location and replaced the Nepalese restaurant in North Silverthorne we were skeptical. Not only did we not want to see the Nepalese restaurant go away, but we thought the interior ambience would change the experience. Not so! While the pricing has gone up (as it has everywhere!) and staff has changed so we don't see the friendly faces we came to know and love, we still get the same good service and friendly welcome. We don't feel rushed to move-on like we do at most places now in Summit County that just want to move tables. This is one of the few restaurants in Summit County that has maintained the local feel, catering to those that service this community and work hard every day. I feel like a local, having frequented this lively restaurant for many years, their breakfast is hard to beat in the Dillon/Silverthorne/Frisco area. I always seem to end up with the Ultimate Skillet ($8.95), an iron skillet loaded with home fried potatoes, 3 eggs any way you like them, tomatoes, green bell pepper, onions, mushrooms, bacon, ham, and sausage, all smothered with country gravy and melted cheddar cheese. A fluffy buttermilk biscuit (muffin or toast also available) accompanied my skillet and would only have been better had there been a dollup of country gravy on top. Mountain Lyon Cafe has pretty much everything you could imagine available for breakfast and lunch, from French toast to French fries, omelets to burgers, pancakes to pickles, you get the picture. One thing I did not see on the menu that I was craving was a chili and cheese omelet, plain old chili with no beans and lots of shredded cheddar cheese encased in a fluffy three egg delight! But alas, there were none:( The Mountain Lyon is as much an experience as it is a meal with hoards of interesting locals and a few odd tourists of every size and disposition imaginable, with stories as long and varied as the people telling them. Really good straightforward Colorado diner breakfast -- I had the chili rellenos with eggs, and it was great. Portions are as large as usual for this type of food. Visiting from Boulder county, it's occasionally refreshing to see places like this that don't offer 4 kinds of non-dairy milks or have giant sections of gluten free options highlighted. I eat breakfast out often. Came upon this place by accident during a trip to Keystone and was delighted. Servers are nice albeit busy (sign of good things). A sort of sit yourself style café/diner with a great feeling inside. What I noticed most was their use of fresh vegetables on traditional breakfast slop you can get anywhere (I live a large city). There were chunks of tomatoes on the breakfast burrito! Although it may not be prudent (on my behalf) they also had scallions and red onion chopped on top. Definitely the biggest breakfast portions in Summit County, this place has all the usual favorites. If you get an omelette one of the additional things you get is your choice of toast, biscuit or pancake, which they claim to be a silver dollar but in reality is gigantic. I am actually full for most of the day after eating here, but it's also pretty good food in addition to its largesse. They have plenty of vegetarian options as well as the typical meat-based meals. It's a funky place that has been around for a while, and I always enjoy seeing the stuffed buffalo inside when I go there. read more

My most recent venture here was on a beautiful summer day and the patio is a first come first serve basis so while everyone else was standing around the boy and I saddled up to an open table and plopped down to peruse our menu. Service was prompt and the waitress took our order. I couldn't believe how fast the food came back out of the kitchen. Eggs cooked right, shredded crispy hashbrowns, yummy bacon. It was exactly what you expect this place to turn out of the kitchen. A good basic breakfast! That said, the food is quite tasty. Good breakfast burritos (green chili is kind of weird, though. I think it has beef in it). Pancakes are big and fluffy. French toast is made from Texas toast, and who doesn't like foods with "Texas" in their names? I can't think of any other such foods, but I'm sure there must be some. This place is definitely a Silverthorne institution. Locals and tourists (and weekend warriors, like ourselves) flock there for breakfast. Decor is...well-loved. Wow, don't know how I have missed this place over the last 10 years. I had the best corned beef hash EVER! Very meaty and not all just potatoes. The hash browns were nice and crisp on the outside. I like that you can get pancakes instead of toast--as I like to have a little sweet after eating something salty like the corn beef hash. When we told the hostess we wanted to order to go she said, "Alright, but it's going to take just as long." and she yelled for the other woman to take our name off the list and walked away. She said I should get in the ten person long line at the register to order (there hadn't been anyone at the register when we arrived).
