This is pretty much the same thing, but more expensive (it's Menlo Park) and maybe a little cleaner. You grab your bowl (or two, if you're my husband), fill it with whatever your heart desires, drizzle on the sauces (hubby and I each tried two different recommended mixes of sauces, all good but honestly tasted similar), and let the guy at the grill do his job! Quick and kind of satisfying in an "I made this!" way. There is also a self-serve area with egg drop soup, white rice, fried rice, egg rolls, fried wontons, and orange chicken - I would say stick with the mongolian bbq. Let me cut to the chase this place is good but not great. It has a lot going for it but just needs one change that makes a big difference. Positives are many, such as: it's clean, you can use 2 bowls at a time, free all you can eat extras (eggrolls, wonton chips, fried rice, sesame bread, egg drop soup and soft serve ice cream) and fast service. The only bad thing and it's a big one, is that the sauces they provide don't end up tasting very good. I've been to a lot of places like this and this is among the best except in the flavor department. Most Mongolian BBQ places have a special sauce or lobster sauce etc. I've been here at least 4 times and tried different variations of their sauces and they end up tasting watered down and bland. All around solid restaurant and food. Food all looks and tastes clean and fresh. Value is very good for a normal appetite and excellent if hungry because it is all you can eat. Service is prompt and friendly, though they run around very fast to keep everyone served. Lunch time on a weekday has a pretty big rush of people at noon, which makes getting a serving a bit slow as you wait in line for the people ahead of you to pick their ingredients and have them cooked. Have always felt good after a meal here, except when I ate way too much my first time, but that was my fault. We tried this place for dinner as we were looking for something new and different. It certainly was different. It's challenging to rate this place because it doesn't really fit into your standard restaurant category. It just seems like this place belongs in a mall, and is more fast food. Upon entering, you basically find a place to sit and then begin. There's a significant amount of meat selections, and they aren't that bad. The nicest part is that it's all you can eat. My one gripe about a place like this is that the bowl is pretty small and even if you shove a whole bunch of stuff in, after cooking it looks like nothing. This place at least lets you go to town and get enough food. The sauces are watered down! Make sure you use a whole bunch if your want some flavor. Otherwise it'll be boring and bland. This place was decent...inexpensive for an all you can eat place but kind of pricey for kids. $13, and my daughter basically just eats a few pieces of tofu. Came here for dinner with our family of two adults and a 4 year old and our bill was about $50 with tax before tip. My husband and I usually only go once through the line so we don't eat that much. The food was fine. The ingredients seemed fresh and you probably need to add in more sauces than you think you need so that your food doesn't taste bland. Outstanding cleanliness and service. We arrived about 6pm on a Monday as after struugling a little to find the undistinguished sign of El Camino Real. Deco is contemporary styled. The ingredients looked fresh and the trays were kept full and again clean/neat. I guess you are supposed to fill the bowl with food before seated, but we tried to get our seats first. Good thing they post about 3 ways to put sauces to you food, since this critical step can determine how flavorful your Mongolian bbq tastes. It took me about 3 tries to perfect my mix. There are also rice, seseame balls, sweet n sour plus egg drop soup. But I will just say you do not come here for that. The soft serve ice cream is surprisingly good. They use good ingredient for the dessert. The small bathroom was clean. Staff was great. There were only about 4 staffs and they were either helping customers, or cleaning. The young lady showed up at the very instance I was struggling with the soft cone machine. They kept the cooking "plate' clean by wiping and scraping all the time. We enjoyed our dinner and would return if we visit the area again. If you have never been to a Mongolian bbq or simply hungry, come for lunch or dinner. "Mom, I'm hungry!" This was declared after we left the restaurant by a 2yr old who was just charged $7.99 for eating a couple of chips and an ice cream cone. My 6yr old, who ate a a handful of vegetarian egg noodles, was charged $11.99. Shocking. My spouse and I were charged, $14.99 each. The total bill exceeded $50 for a bunch of noodles I can make at home for $5, including the meat. This was why I did not see Asians patronizing the establishment. I am shocked by the prices, and the subpar "outlet mall food court Panda Express white people Asian food." Don't be conned to come here for all you can eat food as the selection is weak. Frankly, I am surprised by the number of positive reviews here. It leads me to believe they were written by consumers who don't know what quality Asian food is all about. If your baby is 12 months old and ate one strand of noodle, he will be charged $7.99. We asked the manager if they would charge a baby $7.99, and she said yes. It's been way, way too long since I've updated my Northern CA Mongolian BBQ list...and I'm thrilled that my latest addition is one that is so close to home! (Okay, "so close to home" is actually still a 15 minute drive away but considering I've driven three hours for mongolian BBQ....this feels like it's my literal backyard.) Su's in Santa Clara has always been at the top of my Mongo list, even after trying countless places in Sacramento and the Central Valley, where they take Mongo more seriously than us here in the Bay. But it's gotten harder and harder to visit Su's, so I was excited to hear that not only did a Mongolian BBQ joint open up nearby, but it was the same folks that own Su's! When I came in, I was greeted by the same lady that drops off the water and sweet and sour dishes at Su's...it was like coming home. :) They've only been open a week and I think they were still trying to figure out the whole staffing situation. The two servers were clearly slammed trying to get drinks and refill food items for roughly 30+ people. I felt even worse for the lone grill attendant, who wouldn't have a chance for a potty break for at least a few hours. I was dismayed to see that some people would force him to stop and clean off his grill (a five minute task that stops the line) before their bowl and then not tip him anything. The poor guy is like 60 and going dizzy from walking in circles in 100-degree steam and you can't drop off a single buck in the tip jar? Anyways they're used to big crowds at Su's so I know it will only be a matter of time until they work out the labor kinks. The food is great, I'd venture to say even better than at Su's. I really enjoyed the dinner here. Now we don't have to drive to Mountain View all the time for Mongolian. The place was clean and service was good. The food was tasty and fresh. We went early, so there was no line. You can choose anything you want 3-4 different meats, vegetables, sauces and they'll cook it for you. Table service brings you drinks and refills them constantly. They even offer egg drop soup and a small assortment of appetizers: egg rolls, fried rice, etc. There's also dessert..of soft vanilla ice cream. This place has the same owners as Su's Mongolian in Santa Clara, but I like this location better. It's alot more spacious and cleaner. Their hot bar in the back has more options as well, like chicken katsu, sweet & sour chicken, wontons, eggrolls, and soup. It's $11 for the ayce lunch, which includes unlimited ingredients for your noodles. I especially like that this location offers water chestnuts. I also like how they provide suggested measurements for certain flavored noodles, like curry. Ooomnomnomnomnom I LOVE Mongolian BBQ and I definitely miss Hula's in Chico and have had a really hard time finding a decent place here in the bay. Went here a few weeks ago with some girlfriends and needless to say, I got my grub on. I didn't go all uber fatty and go back for a second bowl but damn if I could have, I would have. I love the fact that they have the buffet items to the side that you can pick and choose what extra goodies you'd like with your already huge bowl of food. The noodles definitely made me happy too. Nothing makes me sadder than to see spaghetti noodles at a Mongolian BBQ place. These were yummy egg noodles and they soaked up the sauces perfectly. The only gripe I have is that I wish they had teriyaki sauce at the sauce station and not where you add extra flavors at the end. A new place for lunch! Yay! This place is great, I love the build your own bowl of noodley goodness thing. They have pretty large selection of meats and veggies (next time I might even throw some pineapple in), a helpful suggestion sheet for saucing your creation and a nice selection of chili oil and pepper sauces to bring it all home. After you're done with your mealtime masterpiece you hand it over to the cook and he has it piping hot and ready to eat in a flash. One word of warning, there is only one guy doing the cooking, so you might need to allow a couple extra minutes during peak hours. Careful not to over-noodle yourself like I did! MP has a sterile minimalist cafeteria style decor - but it's clean and that's what counts. I wouldn't take a date here - luckily I'm already married. They have a simple, standard mongolian BBQ restaurant formula that works. 1. Take a bowl 2. Fill it with lots of goodies - Egg noodles - Protein options: Pork, chicken, beef, shrimp, and/or tofu (Lamb is dinner only) - Veggies: Broccoli, onions, green onions, mushrooms, bean sprouts, jalapeños, carrots, cucumbers, cabbage, and/or pineapple 3. Top it with your homemade concoction of sauces -Standard options: Soy sauce, ginger, garlic, oyster, vinegar, rice wine, oil, and/or hot oil 4. Watch the chefs stir fry your mixture on the flat top grill for you 5. Check out the hot dishes if you want variety - Fried rice, egg rolls, sesame biscuits, chicken katsu, fried wontons, sweet and sour chicken 6. Finish off the meal with soft serve ice cream 7. Repeat - Eat as many bowls as you can! Lunch is $11.99, Dinner $13.99 - drinks are extra. If you like to eat and come with a fair appetite, you'll get your money's worth for sure! This is a hidden gem in downtown Menlo Park. You would not suspect it to be anything interesting, located next to Big 5 and CVS. But it is! Just the way they cook the food in front of you is entertaining enough. The buffet style can accommodate different needs (our party includes a no-carb guy, a vegetarian, a body-builder who eats lots of protein, and other "normal" eaters) so everyone is happy. The hot bar (rice, soup, fried egg rolls, fried wontons) is not so hot though. I'd rather stick to the raw ingredients and have them cooked on the spot. Advice 1: All the ingredients shrink significantly in quantity after cooking, except the noodles. So if you want a balanced plate you want to get less noodles and more of other stuff. Advice 2: The sauces are all watered down and are not of the same concentration you are used to in your own kitchen (soy sauce, vinegar, etc.). Make sure you add enough. I've been searching for a good Mongolian BBQ place since I moved back to the Bay Area. I went to various places and they were either dirty or just not tasty. One place even used spaghetti noodles instead of chow mein style noodles. This is the best one I've been to. It's modern, clean and the service is fast and friendly. Veggie selection is a little smaller than other places but what they have is good. They have a plethora of sauces and condiments you can put on before you cook it or after. Plus they have other other food (self-serve) - soup, white rice, fried chicken cutlets, veggie egg rolls, fried rice and these sesame ball things. Soft serve is available for dessert. It's all a very good value in my opinion. It's easy to find, right on El Camino in Menlo Park in the Big 5, Staples, Bev Mo shopping center. The same great ingredients, taste and quality of Su's was successfully transferred over to this new location. The people and the service here are friendly! Easy parking right outside the restaurant. I've always been a fan of Su's in Santa Clara. It's nice that they've setup shop up in the Peninsula. Had a quick dinner here and did a double round of lamb/pork/beef/noodles with green onions, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, and oyster sauce. Flavors came out exactly as I expected. The novelty of cooking on a large iron surface in a circular pattern is nothing new to me, so it's the quality of ingredients that makes the difference. I've come here with a few fairly large groups and everyone has always been very pleased. First of all, AYCE is awesome and at a very reasonable price. Customization is another huge plus and pleases my vegetarian friends who can easily find delicious noms here without too much trouble. I have only ever tried their recommended sauce, and it has never failed me. Maybe I'll be bold and try my own concoction next time, but it's hard to leave something that works and tastes good! Pretty good and clean Mongolian BBQ joint. They've got a wide selection of meats, noodles, rice, veggies, sauces that will satisfy your typical customer. Overall, it's pretty clean and fresh. Definitely not seedy and run down like most hole in the wall mongo bbq places. The service was nice and friendly. Kept my water and plates in check. The price isn't too bad either but I really can't eat as much as I used to. The only downside is their hot pockets. I'm an avid mongo bbq fan and I love combining the pockets and filling them with loads of meat, and veggies. Unfortunately this place, the pockets are hella small and thick so by the time you eat a couple, you're stuffed hotter than the pockets you ate. Had lunch after a morning of errands. I really like this place, its very clean and the staff is friendly. They have a bunch of options for the sauces and a good selection for the stir fry noodles. Their hot food selection was impressive, they had fried rice, steam rice, egg drop soup, fried wontons, chicken katsu, sweet and sour pork, sesame balls, and a sesame roll. All unlimited along with all you can eat soft serve to round out your meal. The only thing that would make this place a five star is if they can actually provided more service, like bringing each guest their soup, that would make the experience less "food court" and more sit down restaurant.
