When I tell you this food is good..... OMG. I love seafood and I love Cajun style food and this the perfect combination of the two. I highly recommend the "Mr. and Mrs. Crab special" as your seasoning choice because it's just a blend of all their sauce bases in one. They do have seafood combos that you can choose from that range around $30-40, but if you don't eat much, then making your own little combo should come out cheaper. All combinations of two or more types of seafood come with corn and potato. They also have a full bar and very knowledgeable and friendly staff. I have no complaints! I traveled all the way from Brandon to Bradenton for the food and it's worth the trip. Luckily they're opening two more locations in Tampa and St. Pete. Super disappointed in this place. Gave this place a try the other night as I was in need of delicious cajun crawfish. I ordered 1/2 lb of crawfish and 1/2 lb of shrimp (with head) in medium spice and Mr. & Mrs. Crab Special seasoning while my boyfriend ordered 2 lbs of shrimp (with head) in medium spice and Cajun / Garlic Butter seasoning. Cons: Firstly, they ran out of corn and substituted it for potatoes. We were only notified by the server when he brought out our food. My boyfriend was given 5 pieces with 1 being a size of a tennis ball and the rest were a bit bigger than a golf ball. Secondly, both of our seasonings tasted alike and extremely sour/salty. I understand that the Mr. & Mrs. Crab Special seasoning has lemon but, goodness, did they go overboard. Thirdly and most importantly, the amount of seafood to the price I was paying was absolutely ridiculous, totally not worth it. My tin pan, quite honestly, looked really sad when the server poured out my seafood from the plastic. My bag, altogether, looked like half a pound while my boyfriend's 2 lbs of shrimp looked like 1. Seems like they definitely added the weight of the potatoes. I also ordered the fried calamari as an appetizer. Luckily, we got half price due to the check-in offer because $8.95 was quite pricey for flaky, oily, bite-sized calamari rings. I ordered garlic butter boil with a pound of crab legs and clams. Though the taste wasn't bad the service was terrible. The pound of crab was 2 small clusters of crab. Now if you have never had crab in your life you would believe them. We asked the manager and the waitress.... According to the manager a pound is 4-6 clusters. Then he quickly changed his answer. The waitress agreed the clusters were small size. They both shrugged and said they can't do anything and walked away. The manager even told us the waitress will refuse to talk to us if he gets involved. We paid our bill and didn't cause issues we just wanted them to be at least accommodating or helpful. Well, I am a fat guy who likes food. That being said I was very disappointed with the menu at Mr. & Mrs. Crab. It was limited. No salads, no pasta, only fried fish options (which leads me to believe it would be frozen and not fresh fish). You are required to order a minimum of 1lb of entree in order to receive a side dish, which is a hyped up quarter-ear of corn on the cob and a single golf-ball sized new potato (see picture). The food is brought out in a sealed clear trash bag, that is then dumped on your plate and wrung out. Yes it sounds as bad as it looked. The food was passable. I did enjoy the spice of the hot Cajun sauce, but the lack of appropriate tools for the snow crab legs made the whole ordeal much like combat without the appropriate weapons. We will try the next restaurant that comes to this location. This one was a dud. read more

Ambiance is OK, but not on par with those bayside haunts that have been around for years...the plastic fish just don't get it. The staff is prompt and friendly, The prices are on par with other seafood in the area. The menu is somewhat limited and I must say I have never seen a seafood restaurant wIth NO FISH ON THE MENU. I had the fried oyster basket (10 for $12.95). They were small, but cooked perfectly. That probably hides well for the other fried items on the menu. It came with Cajun fries, that were crisp, but the Cajun spices were barely noticeable...certainly not "kicked up". The seafood cocktail sauce had the perfect amount of horseraddish, the tartar sauce was way too tart...not good at all. The iced tea was too thin. The folks next to me were having Dungeness crab, corn on the cob and new potatoes. They said it was phenomenal. So if you are into shellfish you might give this place a try, it won't be a bad experience, but it likely won't be a great experience either. read more

Alert and warning! I just ordered at Mr and Mrs Crab on Cortez in Bradenton, Fla, a seafood boil with Dungeness crab. It cost $60 plus. The crab was old and dried up in the shell. It tasted old and dry. I told them I did not want it. The manager said they do not give a refund on anything. (So, In essence he was telling me that I have to suck it up). He said they will make me a fresh one. I said, I didn't trust it and just want it removed from my bill. I don't shop or purchase anything from store, etc that refuse to stand by the items they sell. He said it's posted. I looked for it on my way out. It was hard to find low on the wall near but not too close to the cashier and in the middle of a long information sheet in the smallest print. You would have to be looking for it and still you might miss it. This business practice cannot be supported. I am ticked off! read more

We were visiting the area, so I am not up on the pricing of seafood but this seemed very reasonable. There were basically two options here: fried food or Get Dirty - meaning all manner of seafood choices that you'd be using your fingers to get into. We opted for head-on shrimp and blue crab. Each of these dishes comes with two potatoes and a section of on the cobb corn. The minimum order is a pound of seafood (though you can mix your choices) so it is a LOT. The corn was not worth eating (starchy and no flavor) but the potatoes were good. I'd never had head-on shrimp before but it was easy enough to deal with. Everything is cooked all together in an oven bag with the seasoning of your choice, and the server will dump it out into the pan for you. You get a bucket for shells, a bib, two plastic gloves (good luck maneuvering tricky crab parts with those things on your hands) and some wet wipes. Plenty of napkins are available but you will still need a good washing up in the restroom afterward. While the meal is served in a baking type pan, you are given a plastic plate to eat on. I was rather unhappy with all the plastic waste, but over all ended up liking my meal pretty well. Wasn't prepared for all the work and mess, but sometimes you just gotta go with it! May have given five stars but there is no beer worth drinking here - only tasteless domestics and imports - no craft beers at all. read more

The alcoholic beverages from the bar were all made with so much alcohol you couldn't possibly drink them... they don't even taste good at all. There's a sign on the bar that says no refunds or remakes on any alcoholic beverages so you're just stuck with them no matter how poorly the bartender has made them all. We probably would have ordered two or three drinks a piece, but they ruined it when the first ones were not even drinkable. Also, do not understand the concept of handing out ketchup packets instead of having a ketchup bottle and having to use plastic silverware at a crab house. Flimsy plastic forks are not great for digging out crab. Our server couldn't be bothered to give us bibs, although the tables around us had them. The music, while a good mix, is crazy loud so we yelled at each other the whole meal. We wanted our first visit to be amazing, but this simply falls short due to the details above. read more

I tryed it out last week for the first time, Valerie the bar tender was nice had ordered shrimp no head it came out with head so she took it back no problem they were pretty good. Topped it off with the special spices and mild heat(my nose was dripping afterwards!) I couldn't finish it all. The shrimp were huge and I got at least 10. The cluster of crab had 1 claw and 4 legs and I could have used more, but the flavor was juicy and sweet!
