I was really looking forward to eating here. It's a beautiful restaurant and easy parking because it's at Southcenter mall. It's just inside the entrance by the Apple Store so it's easy access if you just want to come in to eat. The wait staff were very attentive. Unfortunately, I was really disappointed. How It Works In essence, there is a ticket with menu items and a QR code so you can see pictures of the items. You mark the dim sum that you'd like, they bring it to you, and as they bring each dish, they slash it off the tab. I didn't like having the tab on the table with the total of what I had spent before I even got my food. It seems rude. Unfortunately, I did not have a great experience for the following reasons: the food is really expensive for the portion size that you get which is quite small. I've had dim sum in Richmond BC, considered the capital of dim sum, and the portions were much bigger. Here I ordered two dumpling type things, the crispy rice roll with shrimp and Nori for $12.95, which was inedible to me and an order of chive and shrimp dumplings (3) for $7.95 that was loaded with grease. I ate one of the dumplings, and the other two I took home and used paper towels to wipe off the grease. Pretty icky. In addition, I ordered a plate of veggie fried noodles ($12.50)that was served lukewarm and a delicious plate of broccoli with garlic. ($10.95) All of that was going to cost me $48 with no drinks. I asked the wait staff to take off the inedible dumpling dish, which brought it down to $34 This was not what I was expecting. I might go back to try the hot and sour soup, but beyond that I will likely not return. It's really way too much money for the amount of food you're getting. read more

You could tell management here is lazy and don't hold their employees to serve their best. Some of the food items were delicious like the shiu mai and buns, but anything vegetable is bad. Cucumbers were served old and the plate was served to us like it was slop. Chinese broccoli was way undercooked. It was like they put it on a pan for 3 minutes and said "good enough". Considering the price being double the amount for standard for dim sum, I expected more pride to be put in the dishes. Will not be coming back. read more

The staff were super friendly and attentive, and we got seated immediately. Great portions for the shrimp chive dumplings and shrimp dumplings, absolutely I loved them! The mushroom rice roll was a bit plain, which was a letdown, but the water chestnut cake made up for it--crispy, not too sweet, and brought back great memories since I haven't had it in ages. Ohh, I just now noticed the menu says it will be 5 pieces of water chestnut cake but they only gave me only 3 instead... We were quoted an hour and 15-minute wait, but were seated in under an hour. Portions were big and worth the price. My favorite dish was the chicken feet--super tasty and sweet! The green beans were solid, and the hau cao and shu mai were just okay. The bean curd roll was a bit chunky, and the cucumber salad tasted like smoky BBQ sauce. Loved the large shrimp in the rice roll, and the Chinese donut roll with Peking duck sauce was interesting. Overall, a good dim sum spot with quick service! read more

This one is currently a solid 3 star, but has potential to become 4 star, if they can, 1. Improve the reservation process. Lineup was exceptionally long on weekend, yet there are many empty tables, awaiting people whose number had long been called. It is silly to have the tables reserved for 20+ minute, for customers who had abandoned the queue due to long wait. 2. Hire more seasoned waiting staff. For example, rice noodle rolls are never served with Oyster sauce. It should be accompanied by a dish of sweet soy sauce. Apparently, the waiting staff do not fully understand those fine details yet. 3. Front desk can use an improvement. I asked to get a menu and made my selections when waiting outside. I got the funniest and most strange request: copy your selection to the order sheet when you sit down. Well, the only difference is the table number they write on the "new" menu. :-) Some of the good things I must share, 1. Shrimp Dumpling is very good. 2. Plating is nice for most dishes 3. The new dim sum spot in town offers great-quality food overall, with must-try dishes like the shui mai, BBQ pork buns, deep-fried shrimp balls, and deep-fried stuffed tofu with shrimp. However, skip the honey mustard prawns--they accidentally gave us this instead of honey walnut prawns, and the strong wasabi flavor didn't work for us. While the food was excellent, the prices are on the higher side, making it a place to save for more special occasions. Service could be better; we had to ask for water and to cut our dim sum several times. Shout out to Enzo, who was doing well for being new, and kudos to the manager for changing our plates before dessert. The desserts--egg tarts and pineapple buns--are a must-try. No wait time, but the music was very static--not sure if the speaker is broken, but it wasn't pleasant. For regular cravings, Chinatown dim sum is still more affordable and hits the spot. read more

Food meet it standard for Dim sum. Nothing really standard out except for the durian dumplings. Too bad it was discontinued . Service is okay. I didn't get my water refill maybe it was still grand opening. Will come back if I'm craving for Dim sum during my shopping and lazy to go far. read more

So glad this place opened up at Southcenter! Been there a couple of time since it opened. The dim sum was much fresher and pretty tasty. Items come out as you ordered and not in a rolling cart. It has a modern atmosphere compared to other dim sum places which are more traditional. It's not that pricey as our go to dim sum place in Kent was costing the same if not more. Definitely will go back as it's dim sum all day. Only downside is the long wait! read more

Service was terrible. Came on a Sunday before the evening rush. Restaurant only 1/2 full, but waited 15 minutes (seemed like longer) before anyone came by. Never was offered, nor received water. Drinks came after got our first dim sum. Food was tasty and warm; large shui mai and pot stickers. At the end of the meal, had to wait - again - for check and ToGo containers. Decent dim sum for the area. Based on prior review pictures we were already expecting a pricier, bougie experience. The service was quick and nice. The rice rolls and Ha Gow casing were oily, chewy, and not soft. The portions were also smaller. The radish cakes were more flour than radish and again too oily. The staff was very kind and still trying to remember table numbers which delayed one of my dishes coming to my table til I asked about it but everything had almost no flavor or you had to heavily depend on the chili oil and soy sauce combination to be honest I've had much better dim sum nearby and this was probably the worst I've ever had. We drove all the way from the Eastside to try this fairly new dim sum place. This place hires most non Chinese servers. Their services are ok but they don't know anything about dim sum. For example the rice roll didn't come with any sweet soy sauce. We asked for it and they didn't understand at all and finally just gave some regular soy sauce :( Overall the food here is very fluctuating. Shiu Mai and pork fluffy are very good but pan fried buns and rice rolls are very bad. The BBQ pork costs $12.95 but the portion is super tiny and it tastes dry and not authentic. Good Food. We order the Pekín Duck. Super juice and tasty. The dim sum was all good. The only item I would not order again would be the Wonton Noodle soup. Overall it's a bit more expensive from other dim sum but worth every penny. Great service and good ambiance. read more

Siu mai was solid. Steamed bean curd roll also solid. Har gow above average, lot of filling, not too chewy. Egg tart was ok. Steamed bbq pork bun was good, pretty standard. Soy sauce fried noodle was ok. Roast pork was pretty good, but a little dry. Pan fried chives & shrimp dumpling good. Stir fried broccoli was little undercooked and on the salty side. Absolutely worst customer service ever!! Waited for a hour for a table and then when we finally got one the host staff was rude and kept letting others skip in front of us!! Then we finally got seated they were out of a lot of things on menu that was crossed off!! Then out waiter took another 30 mins to even acknowledge us and then another 10 to have us fill out the order sheet!! We finally had enough when we found a bug in our water!! After waiting months for them to open, I checked them out on a Monday afternoon. It wasn't too busy, but I expect it to get busy over time, when people figure out it is open. The wait staff is new - a couple of them said it was their first day. One of the waiters couldn't identify the shrimp dumplings, and thought they were the pork shumai. They missed my order for the sticky rice in lotus leaves so they had to put in the order late. The food is on point. Everything I ordered was piping hot, just out of the fryer or the steamer. This is what I look for in a dim sum place. I expect them to iron out the server training quickly and I will go back to try out some other items. read more

This my family's second time driving Ning at Mr. Dim Sum. It was as good the second time as the food. First. The food is delicious and prepared to order. It is a bit pricier than other dim sum places I've been to but well worth it. The service is welcoming. We made an error by ordering steam baos instead of baked baos. There was a little resistance to making the change but eventually the steam baos were replaced by the baked ones. Their baked baos have a unique pastry and the center is sufficiently filled with bbq pork. The restaurant is new and clean and conveniently located at one of the entrances to Southcenter mall. Looking for a good brunch or weekend lunch? I highly recommend Mr. Dim Sum. read more

This place is very good - not sure why the ratings aren't higher... I wish they had dim sum on carts (at least during peak dim sum hours), but the place is far cleaner and more inviting than Chinatown dim sum. The roast duck and roast pork (crispy chicharon style) are my favs here. Their soups could use a little recipe refinement. Went today - drastic menu improvement from a couple weeks ago - all menu items were available today as opposed to 10-15 items being crossed off last time. read more

We initially went there on a Sunday and was told there's a 2 hour wait for a table so we left. My sisters in law went back on the weekday to try and got to-go for us. Just another dim sum place, nothing special. The food was okay but nothing I would go out of my way for. Personally, I prefer Jade Garden in ID or Top Gun in Factoria. You're definitely paying a higher price here for the location not the quality of the food. read more
