My Cousins and I were genuinely just looking for a place that served mac and cheese but we didn't expect to find a restaurant that served only mac and cheese we were all very excited. As soon as we walked in the door we were greeted by the friendly and welcoming staff, It was so hard to choose what we wanted since there were so many options that just looked so delicious! After we decided what we wanted we took a seat and they told us that our food would be out shortly. It took them not even 5 minutes for our food to be ready. It was so delicious. I have ordered Take & Bake dishes 3 years in a row for Christmas with our families. Year 1 2014 - Called a few weeks in advance and told them I wanted to pick up the items after a specific time on a specific date. Was told, No Problem, everything will be ready when you get here. Items were not ready when I arrived, had to wait for them to be made, but luckily they were able to do it very quickly. The young woman at the register seemed annoyed that I waited though. Year 2 2015 - Called a few weeks in advance, had to give a Credit Card to hold the order. Was assured that no charges would hit my card. When picking up, I went to hand the cashier a different card to pay the bill and she said, "Oh, it's all set, I rang it up on the card we had on file". She never asked if I wanted it to be charged to that card. Owner offered to move it to a different card, but I would need to wait 10+ days for the credit to hit, which is not what I wanted. Year 3 2016 - Called a few weeks in advance and young woman on the phone made it obvious that she did not want to be there. Upon arriving to pick up, a young man was outside sweeping the parking lot & walkway and came into the restaurant at the same time as me. He continued sweeping behind the counter, and then proceeded to dump the big dirty disgusting commercial dust pan with all this food hanging off of it into the trash using both hands, without gloves. Then he turned to me and asked how he could help me. (There is a sink with soap & paper towels directly behind the counter). I had to tell him 3 times that I wanted him to wash his filthy hands before touching my food & my credit card. He just kept looking at me like I was being ridiculous. Bottom line is that these people need more training or supervision by the owners, managers or a responsible food-service adult. read more

We stopped in to Mr Mac's with a family full of picky eaters for a quick lunch on our road trip. Nearly everyone was super pleased with their choices. The choices are overwhelming and you can customize your mac n cheese and salad in so many ways, I was afraid we would never get our orders placed. Unless you just do not like mac n cheese, and really who doesn't love it, you will find something just perfect to suit your taste. We ordered to go then decided to dine in so our driver could enjoy his meal as well. The to-go containers are really nice foil pans packed in pizza boxes for extra support. Once we got our lunches we wished we had planned to share because the serving size is super generous. If we were local this would be awesome and I could order one lunch and have it for three days. The mac n cheese has a base bechamel sauce and they can add various meats, veges, additional sauces, and all kinds of cheese. I went with the special that day, the Hawaiian which had huge chunks of ham and pineapple in the pasta. I am pretty sure there was some crispy bacon and mozzarella cheese in there too. This is way better than a Hawaiian pizza. The family tried various types of veges and the most popular was adding the buffalo sauce to anything. The salads start with a base and then you can top with various additions. We ordered just the basic and it was fresh and filling on its own. The dressings taste fresh made and are plentiful. We wished we were hungry enough on our drive back home to stop again, but you really need a hearty appetite to make Mr Mac's a good lunch stop for you. read more

I've gone here a few times. I've liked it every time except for one, when the macaroni was way too dry. Other than that, it's always been delicious and I love trying different dishes. Staff was really friendly and helpful on my first visit, explaining all the menu options, sizes, substitutions, add-ons, etc. Every time I've gone it's been pretty packed, not sure if that's because it was near dinner time or if it's always packed. I've also ordered ahead and picked up at the window before and they're very good about that too. I love this place. They make your selection fresh. It's never pre-cooked. I don't like mac and cheese that have lumps of cheese. Mr. Mac's is ALWAYS creamy. I've tried their various flavors and all are great, but my favorite is Cajun Mac which was on the regular menue but now is a monthly special. They also can cook it and box it for you or they will put it all together and I take it home and freeze it if I'm not going to eat it right away. I found this place by accident while driving back from a weekend getaway in Portsmouth NH. It popped up on a search for Gluten free options in the area. I was so excited to see a macaroni place that had gf options. I had the shrimp scampi with gf noodles and it was really good. I love that it's cooked in iron skillets and brought out to you in them. Mine was really tasty and I enjoyed every bite. My friend ordered a veggie Mac n cheese and said it was good, but not the best she's had. I knocked one star off because the atmosphere reminded me of a Subway sandwich place and wasn't what I was expecting. The place was packed with people and everyone's food looked really good though.
