I turned off Jamboree to grab anything quick before getting back on the road and saw this sandwich shop on the corner of the center and figured I would give it a shot. Holy Cow I was amazed at how fresh the bread was, the meat was enough to fill me up, and the flavor was incredible. I got the Pastrami with mushrooms and cheese with everything on it and I was very pleased with everything about both the service and the food. The Cook in the back shot me a look as if he knew I was about to be amazed, and he was right. I am not in that area very often but when I am in Irvine I will be eating here again. Now I have a reason to travel that direction from Orange just to have good fresh food. I will certainly be back and I want to bring someone with me next time just to show off the gem I found, like I am a modern day adventurer looking for hidden treasures or something. I just paid $18 for a pretty basic sandwich and a small cup of macaroni salad. Had this been like $8-10 it would be 5 stars. Price has to match quality and quantity. The sandwich comes with just a couple slices of ham, a slice of cheese, basically the heel part of iceberg lettuce, mayo mustard and tomato. Everything was good, a perfectly fine normal sandwich like the kind I could easily make at home. Service was very fast (I came in around 11:20am). I did like the squaw bread. I had a sandwich from Ike's the other day that came with fried chicken and dutch crunch bread that was filling on just one half and this was the same price!!! It's honestly just the price. I get that food costs a lot now, but $16 for a basic sandwich? I would understand if it was $10. It's not exactly hurting me but it just makes me wonder how people who make a regular amount of money are surviving, this is honestly crazy. Disappointing and missing items. I've only been coming here a little less than a year and although it was a struggle to communicate with the previous owner my order was always accurate and my sandwich was always stuffed. Not sure what's happened these past few months but the quality and service have plummeted. In order to add avocado or sprouts it's extra, which is fine no issue with that, but I have an issue with it when I pay for it and it's missing. This is not the first time either and whenever I take it back to have it added they cannot just take my word for it and have to search up the receipt first. I've tried letting it go multiple times, especially because the short white lady in the front ends up throwing in a bag of chips or a brownie for the inconvenience. But it's not happened for the fourth time and I honestly didn't even take it back at this point im just taking the loss, writing this review, and never coming back. If you want your food done right every time just go somewhere else. Or wait until there's new people making the food. read more

The sandwich was filled with lots of freshly sliced turkey and shredded lettuce. The French roll was soft on the inside and slightly crispy on the outside. The counter staff was very friendly and the sandwich shop was clean. Mr Sandwich is located in a strip mall near several fast-food drive-thru restaurants - so an empty parking space can be hard to find during the busy lunchtime hour. My coworker has been raving about Mr. Sandwich for a while so I decided to take a break from Board and Brew and order pickup here. I did a phone order and the woman who took my order was really sweet. The order was ready in 10 minutes for pickup! My boyfriend was the one who went and got it for me so I'm not sure how it is on the inside, but as long as the sandwich is good I don't care. Needless to say, the sandwich was delicious! I got the chicken salad on squaw add sprouts. All of their sandwiches come with mayo, mustard, lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles. They will ask you if all of those things are okay so you have a choice to omit any ingredients! The chicken salad was so delish! I had no complaints whatsoever. The veggies were crisp, bread was soft, and chicken salad was super tasty. I'm always eager to support small, local businesses so I'm ecstatic that Mr. Sandwich can be added to my list of go-to's!
